[SOLVED] WiFi issues with AOKP/CM10 etc etc - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Well, this is interesting and so far NO ONE has been able to resolve my issue in regards to this.
Any time I flash over anything that is associated to AOKP or CM10 (AOKP, CM10 Nightly, tMIUI, ParaNOID etc etc) .. I have an issue where my WiFi will see everything out there in the world, but will NOT attach !!!
I have tried everything that everyone has suggested in regards to different versions of CWM (5.8.4.7, 5.8.4.7 Touch and 6.0.1.2) .. different Kernel releases from Ktoonsez and Faux123 .. Different ways for full wiping everything to dirty flashing .. and nothing.
WiFi will find everything, attempt to attach and will just end up either "Saving" to "Out of Range" (even if I'm right next to it) .. I have a LinkSys/Cisco E4200 router that is WPA2 Personal protected (I have removed that and tried) .. my work router I have no idea what it is, but it is also WPA protected .. either way .. will not connect and obtain IP.
Now, I am able to connect if I enter a static IP !!!
I know this is not a hardware issue with my phone .. if I ODIN back to stock, either the official LG1 or the leaked LH1 .. everything works perfectly .. WiFi hooks immediately, no issues.
Any ideas anyone ??

I've had flakiness.
But nothing to the extreme of what you're experiencing.
Could be you have a hardware revision that is not compatible with CM kernels for some reason.
Did you try flashing a CM ROM and then using a stock kernel with it?

I'm having exactly the same issue. So far I haven't found anything to work.

Yeah .. interesting issue since it seems that many people are NOT experiencing this issue.
I definately cannot see it really being a hardware revision issue .. I mean, AT&T has 3 SGSIII phones, only difference between them .. Pebble Blue, Marble White and Garnet Red !!!

Done that as well.. no difference. Tried Auto.. tried 2.4GHz, tried 5GHz .. still only works if static.

I guess you don't have any manufacturing experience.
MFG's are making changes all the time. It's supposed to be MINOR changes. Like mostly firmware.
It's not the most likely issue. But IMO, it's plausible.

Whether or not there is any sort of knowledge of hardware revisions to AT&T's SGSIII's .. they all use the same firmware/software. However, if someone wants to see what they have .. under my battery, I have the standard information .. plus:
IMEI : (blah blah blah)
S/N : (blah blah blah) ZR
1207 (barcode) REV0.4
SKU : 6013A (barcode)
Made in China

Anyone want to help out here ? Let us know what is under your battery as to REV #'s.

I'm on .. be interesting to see if there is a difference in the REV #'s .. and whether that plays a part of the issues people are having with there WiFi and raw builds.

I GIVE UP
I give up .. just tried installing the new # 2 build of tMIUI (said there were WiFi fixes) .. again, same ole SH*T .. my phone refuses to connect via WiFi unless I set it to static.
I wanted to see if there was something out there that could possibly distinguish some sort of difference (if there was any) between the REV#'s .. request if ANYONE can pull there batteries out for 2 seconds and see what there REV#'s are .. got one response and even that person didn't come back.
Guess I'll stick with stock until there is some sort of miracle break through that someone can figure this out .. since I can't.

There is an option I just noticed in my WiFi settings that let it connect to WiFi even if the signal is low. You guys having real troubles might try that setting.
I think the issue is mostly just a lower sensitivity WiFi.
Stock ROM+WiFi gives me lots of bars.
CM based ROM+WiFi doesn't get me as many bars. Sensitivity is much less, so it's more susceptible to flaky signal connections.

I had a similar issue where my phone would refuse to connect to all my routers, (2 at Home & 2 at work.) It would connect to them on stock but not on any other Rom.
I had to change the SSID's on my routers, on the new SSID's it connected perfectly..... It was a ***** to convince my IT admin at work to change the SSID's for Me.....

So what was different in the name structures ? I have right now a LinkSys E4200 which is dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz .. the names on my SSID's are "lordgeek_24" and "lordgeek_5" .. again, everything in the house can connected without issues (other Android phones, PS3, laptop and tablet). Compared to yours .. what did you have to change in the name in order for it to connect ?

I just put in a hyphen in between randomly.
All other devices were connecting just fine only my phone was not.

WELL HOLY SH*T .... I got home, before doing anything else, fired up the home computer .. changed my SSID's for both bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz) .. also reinitialized my extender for the new SSID .. would you believe, my damn phone connected to the new SSID's immediately !!!!
"lordgeek_24" changed to "LordG33K24"
"lordgeek_5" changed to "LordG33K5"
Now .. the new question is:
Why would the SSID on a router cause such a huge headache between different ROM's ????

if all 3 of your phones are not connecting, it only makes me think its an issue with your router.
Agree. Test the phones on other networks, and bring another device to the network you're having issues with to verify. If three different wi-fi enabled devices are having trouble connecting, it's probably the router. This is what I do at work all day >_<

Your right it was the router it supports WPS but the handshake was not compatible 802.11n+m I changed the router to 801.11b it works on all of the phones. I seen other issues regarding this on various threads it may be a default setting via one of the kernels the 802.11b mixed with something else or that it does not auto detect as I did assume.
My bad, jumped the gun due to other posts related to AOSP and AOKP builds after 4.0.4.
Thanks,

Thats not really true .. I experienced the same issue in regards to my S3 running anything that was AOKP/CM10 etc etc .. I started a thread about my issue under the Q&A section in which we found a resolution .. and it had nothing to do with a+b+g+n !!!
I have a LinkSys E4200 router .. on stock/leak builds, my phone connected instantly .. anytime I flashed AOKP, CM10 variations .. my phone saw the router, saw the SSID's .. but refused to connect via DHCP .. it would connect however by static !! This was driving a few people nuts .. and for some real strange reason, it had to do with the naming of the SSID that was causing the problem !!
My old SSID was "lordgeek_24" and "lordgeek_5" .. for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands .. everything set to mixed connectivity. All I did was renamed my SSID's to "LordG33K24" and "LordG33K5" .. kept everything else the same (WPA2) .. and WHAMMM .. my phone connected instantly .. I'm running the Nightly CM10 .. since renaming my SSID's .. NO PROBLEMS :victory:
And my and a few others issue is slow download speeds on wifi.

I have really bad download speeds on AOKP Task and Ktoonsez and running KT kernel. I do not have LTE yet but H+ is faster than my WiFi which is 5Gbit/sec. I can only get about 1550 of 5 whereas my girlfriend gets 5 on her Atrix I've searched for hours for an answer and this thread is what I've finally found. Can anyone help me fix this before I go to the ROM or kernel thread? Thanks.

No just this router. Its a Net gear WNR2000. I updated the firmware and have reset the modem and still only half the data speed I should be getting. I am going to change the SSID and change channels when I get home and check the results. Any other suggestions I should try?

[Q] Why does JB 4.1.2 not connect to wifi properly??

Hello all. I have been playing with the new 4.1.2 JB ROMs on my 7100 Note2 and have been having one major and repeatable issue, that I have seen mentioned a few times by others, with no obvious resolution.
I have tried the various leaks of the 4.1.2 that were floating around (the stock one, Wannam and Android Revolution HD 5) and now I have just tried the final Polish PLAY version of 4.1.2 as well as the latest Wannam as well. All do/did the same thing:
They can see my wifi SSID and they can BEGIN to connect and "obtaining IP address" comes up. EITHER they then fail and tell me connection is poor and to try again, or they will connect and then drop within a minute. Just today I made some kind of movement on this by trying different kernels. Perseus25 gives up and tells me signal is poor. Perseus27 WILL actually connect and stay connected but can never actually surf anywhere. Note2Core will either connect or tell me my authentication is wrong (which it isn't) and when connected, it too refuses to surf. RedPill is same as Note2Core. BTW, even when they DO connect, they do so at a measly 5Mbps (and cant find internet)
Now, you are all probably thinking "his wifi is rubbish!" but I REALLY cant see how that can be! Firstly, there are other users out there who have mentioned this in a few threads but I have never seen any useful replies as to a solution (or a cause!). But also, if I restore back to my usual ROM which is Android Revolution 4.1 HD (=JB 4.1.1) with a perseus25 kernel, then I connect immediately and stable at 54Mbps and works great. (all it takes is a CWM restore back and it is working 100%. same location in my office, same router, wifi etc!) Plus same wifi serves two laptops, wife's Galaxy S2, and has seen many iphones, ipads, and other laptops all fine.
Back in the days of the leaked 4.1.2 I DID try jumping wifi channels on the router just to prove a point. Every single one did same thing.
Flashing procedures have been the 'standard' method: boot into CWM, wipe data/cache/dalvik/battery, then flash new ROM, boot OK.
I had assumed that the early leaked version of the ROM had some bug but very disappointed to find same behavior in the Polish PLAY version which is final release AFAIK. It makes all these subsequent ROMs based on it totally useless to me.
I even extracted and flashed the modem.bin from my working ARHD4.1 ROM but nothing changed. So modem and kernel same as working systems but something clearly broken somewhere.
If you are one of the other folks out there who also has this issue, might be helpful if you give some info about your setup, so somebody clever out there can help us join the 4.1.2 club?!
Any thoughts?
(setup: UK VirginMedia 120Mbps down/10Mbps up. Cisco Linksys E4200 router. about 10 feet from router with one 'paper wall' between! ARHD4.1 finds full signal and surfs fast. 4.1.2 totally unusable)
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi(s), you are my only hope!
I have noticed similar problems on my SGH-i317 using CleanROM 3 (4.1.2). The wireless connection randomly drops while browsing. This happens even in areas with excellent signal quality.

Thanks for contributing. Helps prove the point that it is something in the new ROM as our wifis are fully functional otherwise. I have matched the modem and kernel from my working 4.1.1 system and still failing....
I hope we get some help.
I also got this problem from latest WanamLite & Omega ROM. Both are using 4.1.2 JB.
Wifi detected and connected but always obtaining ip address..
Sometimes it tooks so long and can get ip, but still cannot access internet or can't even ping different ip address from the same network.

strange, i've been running omega 7 to 7.4 but dont have any problems with wifi.
i've connected to home wifi (TP-Link), workplace (Cisco/Linksys) and some coffe-shops without any problem.
most of them using WPA2 or WEP. sometimes obtaining ip address with WEP could take a lil longer about (10-15sec) but always a success.
but never used wanamlite for my note2 so cant comment any, srry
I'm not saying the issue is in the wifi itself, but it can probably be fixed by disabling n mode and only using b and g. Also try to make sure the phone gets assigned a static ip.
Issue seems to be 4.1.2 related.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
yes.. i'm also facing the same problem.. whenever i flashed custom rom based on 4.12, like wanam 2.0, 2.1 n crash rom, i cant connect to the wifi.. it always shows optaining ip address and it never connected.. now i m using stock rom 4.11 n there is no problem to connect to the wifi..
i juz wonder why it happens to several devices only?
I having the same wifi problem with 4.1.2 firmware...revert back to 4.1.1 wifi connection run flawlessly..strange !
I have tried switching OFF the 5GHz signal from my modem and sticking to 2.4GHz.
Have also tried turned off N and locked it down to just B & G.
Have tried turning off the WMM in the QoS section.
All of these have been mentioned around the place as possible solutions, and I am afraid none of them changed anything at all for me. Also read that one person had his wifi issues resolved when he dropped WPA2 security and went back down to WEP. This is an unacceptable solution to me as I don't want to make my WiFi so insecure, and also, what happens when I go to my friends and family who all (rightly) use WPA2?! So wont even be trying that.
I am actually getting a new Virgin Media Superhub in about 2 weeks so will revisit the issue then to see if 4.1.2 just doesn't like my Cisco router.
Just weird. And frustrating as wanted to move on to 4.1.2!
have you tried changing the channel on your n router?
Ok. I here is my evo 4G lte story. I flashed cm10 as soon as I got this phone a month and bit ago. I totally had wifi connectivity problems at work and at my house. One worked better and one had to be spammed to connect 20 times to connect and would still occasionally drop. I went to sense is from there and found it to be reliable. Though I just moved to the ota, I find this sense to be just as reliable.
In all. The new ota let me move to jb with reliability.

[Q] losing wifi connectivity- full bars but all gray

so, I've read around here on the XDA forum about problems with wifi connectivity where we have full bars for wifi but they are gray and you are not getting out. many describe my situation but I've not seen any real solutions...
my problem is that I can connect to my wifi router without issue but then a random amount of time later, sometimes fairly quickly and sometimes it's hours later, I will pick up the phone and see full bars but they are gray and I'm not getting out. I can try opening a terminal window and pinging the gateway/dns servers and can't even reach the gateway.
things I have tried:
- turned off MAC filtering on the wifi AP
- switched from a 5 GHZ wifi on the AP to 2.4 GHZ net on the AP and vice versa
- manually set the phone wifi preference to one or the other (5 or 2.4)
- battery pull on the phone
- delete network settings for my AP and reconfigure
I have not yet tried a static IP config on the phone but I can easily try that... {edited to add} well, I tried static config and that didn't help at all...
one other tidbit of info, I have a work Blackberry with wifi and it never loses wifi connectivity so this is a problem unique to my Nexus.
I'm running Cyanogen 10.0.0-toro and no, I haven't tried a full wipe and reload yet.
thoughts or suggestions?
I'm not trying to threadjack here, but I just wanted to share my experiences.
I've been have the exact same thing happen to my phone (Nexus maguro). I've tried every JB rom I could find, several different kernels and my wifi eventually always goes grey on me. All network activities stop. I'm back on stock everything right now and it still happens.
It happens on my home wifi as well as work wifi.
I'm about to puttstock ICS on my phone and try that out for a couple days.
Anyway, good luck with your problems, i'm going to follow this thread in hopes you'll get a solution that may help me.
If I do figure anything out i'll post back.

seems that this is a topic that has been posted on a bit over time with no real single culprit or fix. I'll post back if I figure anything out... I know in the Cyanogen thread, I saw info that stated that the MAC address of the phone was changing and I'm going to try and determine if that is happening to mine.
I have the same issue. Sometimes even when i pick up the phone, if i look fast enough i see that the Wi-Fi bars weren't even there! Thats only 1 out of 5 times though. The other time its usually just grey bars. Sometimes it actually will click back and they'll flash to blue and grey 2-3 times and then go solid blue. Then sometimes like you, they'll stay grey. I've tried everything too...reverting to stock, Different kernels, ROMs, routers, static IP, 2.4 or 5ghz, full auto mode. The only fix that makes it a little more reliable, is using Wi-Fi PM Fast. But even that, is not reliable. I'd say its about 50% reliable then, for a huge sacrfice in battery life. For me i've noticed this started to happen with 4.2. Before that i never had a problem. All other devices though no problem. My Nexus 7 is just fine. But the galaxy nexus, no matter what router or where i am, the Wi-Fi is totally unreliable. For me, it happens within 2 minutes that it will disconnect most times. Then 1 in 10 times it'll be fine for 10 hours.
In all honesty, i've given up. Just come to deal with it. Use mobile networks when i'm not needing to download. I can download files and stream music just fine too. If there is traffic going through, it never disconnects. But when its just sitting there without traffic, it disconnects, or, loses connection to google servers i should say.
well that's not good to hear...
I installed stock 4.0.4 a couple days ago and have not had my wifi go grey on me yet.

yeah, I love Cyanogen so not willing to go back to stock... waiting for them to finish 10.1 and I guess I'll see how it behaves then.
Hi all,
Just to say that I have the same problem. I have been upgraded from ICS to 4.2 and nothing had happened but I had to downgrade to 4.1.1 (AOKP Build 4) due to other issues and after that I started notice the WiFi problem.
At first I thought it was when the screen went off, but I has happened with screen on too. I have to turn WiFi off and the back on to connect properly again, very annoying.
As I said I started noticing this after I downgraded, but then again, I had used AOKP 4.1.1 before without this issue. I think that it is time to change my phone :/

I'm on Muzzy 4.2.2 and I'm currently having the same problem. It's not a new problem since I remember having it months ago (disabled my phone's WiFi because I kept missing emails and other notifications - grew tired of dealing with it). I thought it was my router, so I swapped it with a newer one recently, but it carried forward (old router was TRENDnet Draft N and the new one is ASUS RT-N66U).
I would like to know how to properly troubleshoot this problem.
I'm glad I didnt have to create a thread for this. I have been facing this problem quite a lot. I can confirm that WiFi works absolutely fine until 4.1.2, whether it is stock or CM10 (I havent tried the other ROMs yet). I have faced this problem only from 4.2. It still exists on 4.2.2. Happens on all the ROMs I have tried till now including CM10.1 nightly as well as the stock factory image.
When the phone is sleeping, it seems to lose WiFi connectivity and when woken up, the WiFi bars is grey though it is full. If I am very lucky, it will turn blue automatically. Most of the times, I have to switch WiFi off and back on for it to connect properly.
Anyone knows the root cause for this? In case this has been discussed in any other thread?

have you posted this information over in any of the threads where the developers are working such as Cyanogen in an effort to bring this issue to the forefront for more visibility?
I have had those wifi problems with every android version and rom I had on my GNex as far as I can remember.
Sometimes it will be able to reconnect but sometimes I have to disable and re-enable wifi to get it back.
I too thought that it might have been my crappy router as I have had multiple problems with it over the years (some Linksys router).
This is really annoying because it won't receive any e-mails until I randomly decide to have a look at my phone. :/

trust me, I understand your frustration... some days, I can go almost all day without loosing wifi data throughput and other days it won't last 10 minutes without going to gray bars.
unfortunately, no one is sharing any fixes which tells me that no one has a good handle on the problem.
Same issue for me on stock Android 4.2.2. Leave WiFi on overnight and when I wake up its connected to WiFi but gray bars...

The update to 4.2.2 drivers have fixed all WiFi issues for me. For the first time since 4.1 I can now use WiFi optimization now. And WiFi is fully reliable.

so, I've read around here on the XDA forum about problems with wifi connectivity where we have full bars for wifi but they are gray and you are not getting out. many describe my situation but I've not seen any real solutions...
my problem is that I can connect to my wifi router without issue but then a random amount of time later, sometimes fairly quickly and sometimes it's hours later, I will pick up the phone and see full bars but they are gray and I'm not getting out. I can try opening a terminal window and pinging the gateway/dns servers and can't even reach the gateway.
things I have tried:
- turned off MAC filtering on the wifi AP
- switched from a 5 GHZ wifi on the AP to 2.4 GHZ net on the AP and vice versa
- manually set the phone wifi preference to one or the other (5 or 2.4)
- battery pull on the phone

same thing happened to me on toroplus sourcery 5.1, after trying everything i could think of and talking to one of the devs, i finally did a fresh download of rom and gapps. wiped cache, wiped dalvik, factory reset, wipe system, deleted android folder off of storage then installed the fresh download of rom and gapps and its been working great for me since. hope this helps.

Can you elaborate on this? I've flashed 5 different modems and still get this problem... it happens to my cell service bars, as well. Would love to know what the cause is.

i just know ever since moving to a 4.2.2 kernel that has the 4.2.2 drivers my wifi has been stable. I know there was a post in the anarkia thread with the ak kernel that had the drivers. but i believe most any 4.2.2 kernel would have them implemented. i do have the newest bootloader and radio too. but i know as soon add i got the 4.2.2 drivers all issues were resolved wifi wise. of course i think if you have a 4.2.2 kennel you'll have them.

I'm looking forward to that update - I've been watching the Cyanogen threads for when I think the 10.1 has matured enough to become my daily driver... good to know you've had positive results!
Temporary solution
me facing same issues , Solution would be to use an app called wifi fixer by zanish-g1 from the play store ...
it worked for me !! :good:

Wifi not working properly

This is strange, my wifi works but then suddenly it only uploads (only green arrow lights up) and it will not download (orange arrow will not light up). I can disconnect and reconnect and I get some service, but then nothing happens.
I've tried the following:
Rebooting the phone several times
Restarting the router
Changing from DHCP to Static IP
Turning off the new open network notification
Clearing data from Google Play store
Disabled wifi power save with *#0011#
Nothing seems to fix it. What is going on?
READ BEFORE YOU FOLLOW ANY OF MY INSTRUCTIONS!! U HAVE BEEN WARNED I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SOMEHOW DAMAGE YOUR PHONE!!!
OK so let's go straight to Ur answer.... Let it sit for a while after it boots up (a minute) with Ur wifi on. so restart the phone while wifi is on and let it sit for a while... If Ur using a wired connection with a wireless router disconnect the wired modem then the wireless and wait 10 secs and reconnect the wired first and let's all the lights go green or whatever color they show u its ready and then connect the wireless router and try to connect to it.
If that didn't work and you don't have your phone rooted then flash the only time that we have for now. That should fix the wifi issue.
If it doesn't work try to go back to stock and let it sit for a while without touching it and if it doesn't work then the phones defective but keep in mind that if you went through the root process that if you send it back without erasing the flash counter your warranty will be voided so be aware of it. I don't know if there's an app compatible with the s4 so if it's not rooted then replace it just to be safe.... It's your choice

My phone is not rooted.
What did you mean by flashing the time?
How do I erase the flash count if I decide to root later?
Thank you for your help. =)
------edit------
The method -- sans the flashing the time -- seemed to work, but then the internet stalled again. This is happening on two S4 phones. My other phones have no trouble with the wifi, my pcs have no trouble with the wifi. What are the odds that two phones aren't working? Nobody else is having this problem?
I have already made a thread with the sane issue. You're not the only one facing it. A lot more people are too. It might be a software thing and might be fixed in the next update. If not, exchange it

What router are you using? D-Link DIR-655 seems to be most popular one people are having trouble with. What mode are you using (a/b/g/n/mixed/etc)? Mine only works with Mixed n and g mode. When you turn off the wifi, does it actually turn off (the green indicator will dim but should actually go away when it's off)? The stock rom seems to want to keep the wifi on at all costs... not sure why! Mine is very stubborn and takes several tries before it actually turns off and says "turn wifi on the see available networks." In order for the *#0011# Power Save Mode Off setting to work, the WiFi needs to actually turn off then back on. I have to toggle airplane mode sometimes just to get the wifi to turn off.
DGL-4500 Linksys
It shuts off when I save; I put the settings as you suggested. I'll test it.

DGL-4500 is a D-Link, correct? If it is a D-Link, I'd make sure you are on the latest firmware for it and try various mode settings (disable mixed modes, 2.4GHz or 5GHz only, WPA2/TKIP only, etc). This post details a solution to my scenario; maybe it'll give you some ideas.
I have d-link router too and wifi working just fine

Yeah, it is a D-Link; not a Linksys. I tried what you did, it seems to be okay so far. I have the latest firmware. I still think this is a problem with the phone. Do you think an update will fix it?

Yes, it's definitely a problem with the phone. I've spent the last several days researching and trying to find a permanent solution. It appears to be a software issue but I've yet to explain how wifi works just fine for some and not for others.
Any solution to this yet without messing with the router setting. I have this week left to get a full refund. I doubt exchanging it would make a difference. Plus tmobile is out of stock and stores won't allow exchanges since I bought mine online.

I sent my phone to Samsung, so I'm waiting to hear back from them on what they have to do to fix my issue. Maybe it's a faulty batch of Broadcom chips?

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully it can be fixed. I have 4 days left to return so I will return it for now and buy it later if it gets fixed. Let us know how it goes.

Has anyone heard anything on this? I got a PM from Samsung asking me some questions, but they never got back to me. Any news?

[Q] Another wifi bug thread, I've tried everything possible.

Hi!
I know there are plenty of threads about the wifi on this phone, I've read every one of them, posted in many places and have had no good outcome.
Here is my (lengthy) story.
Had annoying wifi bugs on stock 4.1.2, seemingly general lack of interest from the phone in connecting to wifi, but would generally connect after a reboot of both modem+phone+ disabling PSM (even then, not always )
6 months on stock go by, thought flashing a custom rom would fix everything and all would be well again, so I flashed PA.
An even more annoying bug showed up,
Turn wifi on > doesn't automatically connect, so I manually go to the wifi settings page and try connecting.
Before trying to connect - Full signal.
While trying to connect - Goes down to one bar while connecting > fails > then goes back to full signal.
Does occasionally connect, but it's rare. Rebooting both phone and the modem does nothing at all, seems to have a mood of it's own.
It's not just my wifi, but wifi at college too, other devices connect to the same access point just fine.
What would fix this? Will pretty much try most things now,I tried flashing NEAK too.
I don't have a data plan either, so my phone is basically useless without wifi, I've resigned to using my laptop all the time.
Thank you for reading this so far, I'd be thankful for ANY advice.
TL;DR :- Annoying wfi bug, tried every 'solution' I've heard of, nothing worked, never buying a Samsung again :crying:
(Attached images of the phenomenon)
UPDATE:- Just like stock, it will only connect if I am a foot away from the router, irrespective of how much signal I have. Even if I have a full signal elsewhere, it won't connect
dude u r running AOSP :silly::silly:
try TW Rom and see if the problem exists

We meet again!
Like mentioned in the post, the only reason I flashed an aosp based ROM was in the desperate hope it'd rid the phone of its WiFi problem.
Thought a custom ROM would do what Samsung refuses to do.
Hope someone has a valid solution for this.

Anyone?
I forgot I already had the range issue for quite a while, even on stock.
I had tried everything, including static IP, wps, and whatever else was stated to work.
Does anyone know of a working solution to this? Is this a hardware/software issue?
