[SOLVED][Q] Galaxy Nexus 2 release? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi there,
I think I wanna buy me a Galaxy Nexus, but do you Know any releasing date for the gn2 or whatever its Name will be? Will it be released this year, maybe before christmas?
Because I don't wanna Pay 400€ (I Know, it's a very good price for such a great device) and after 2 months using it, it would cost Ca 250-300€. That wouldn't be nice! So has anybody an idea, when the next nexus could be released?
Thanks in advance
Mihahn
Edit: Okay this thread is outdated, now there's the Nexus 4 :good:

ask google. and it wont be called the gnex 2, considering there are 3 nexus phones and a nexus tablet in front of it.

We can't tell the future if that's what you're saying
All the dates and specs are just rumors and we won't know the date until Google announce it.
I personally think that GNex is a still great device and it'll still last you for a long time. The specs might be old, but it is rock solid and smooth as butter.
However, if you want the latest hardware too, you can wait for the next Nexus. I don't think it's too far away now.

Okay I know we can't know the exact date
So if it'll hopefully not be far away, i think I'll just wait.
Or maybe I buy a used gnex...

Buying a used Gnex might be a smart idea, if you buy from trustworthy person there have been a lot of scammers, so just be careful

Yes in Germany we have "eBay Kleinanzeigen". I can go to the Person who sells the phone and use it, Check everything and then buy it.
Btw where are scammers? On which Site where I could buy it?

Mainly either Ebay or Craglist... I dunno about germany though

Ebay Kleinanzeigen is Germans Craig list
Gnex costs at this time Apr. 280 Euro here in Germany (of course used), so it's great deal as Gnex has still top specs

Return SGS2 - Wait for Nexus?

I am debating returning my sgs II, while I still have 15 days left to return it to wait for the Galaxy Nexus. I love the hercules, and im not returning it because of problems, I just want ICS and I feel like even though its a top rated phone, it will take forever to get ICs on it. I also think the Galaxy Nexus GSM version will be available around the same time as verizon version. Anyone have any input?

I think you will be waiting atleast a couple of months after it released on verizon before you see the GSM version. Plus there are quite a few devices either identicle or very similar to ours. So I think once one gets ics the porting will be much easier.

Yeah its a hard decision because I really like this phone....just don't wanna pass up the time I am able to return it for full price, and then regret not returning it. You really think it will be a couple months for a gsm version? Why do you say that?
return it, cancel it, and get another SGS2 from another store
then you auto extent to another 15 days
Be careful with this. Took my Tmobile gs2 back because of the screen issues and rebooting. Got a new one with minimal line issues and it seems snappier, but the guy told me it was the last exchange in the store. Me thinking I had 10 more days. Apparently since I returned an amaze and bought a BRAND NEW phone, the 14 days did not reset for me. I was always told anytime I had a new device it would reset the return period.

Well, I bought outright, so i actually get 30 days to return Its only 15 days if you buy with contract at a discounted price. And I have thought of that also...i still have til the 15th so ill give it a few more days and see if we get any news about the nexus I guess.... i dunno
Galaxy Nexus comes mid November 17 to 28 according to the fans in the GN forum.
personally i'm not excited at all about the GN, it's like a side-upgrade compared to SGS2
if you want a HD 720 device that is as best as you can get for Tmobile
otherwise SGS2 is the top of the hill at the moment spec wise
Considering how long it took for the Galaxy S2X to show up on Telus doorstep I wouldn't hold my breath for any upgrades.
It sucks as two good phones will be out but you'll have to decide of which two has the more important features and myself I love the screen on the Galaxy S2X

They did. But you will still will be waiting 3-4 months for a gsm version also keep in mind importing it might be more money then just waiting for the release. It is suppose to be released on Verizon right after black Friday. It was stated by various android sites recently. I wouldn't upgrade to it. If we get cm support or miui we will probably get ics within weeks after source drops.

im keeping mine ,the leaked speculation for the next galaxy phone are incredible...5mp camera and no sd slot ,that imo is going backward .i know the resolution is there and so is ICS but i can wait for it and if the next galaxy phone is anything close to being as planned then i would think it would be the right decision to keep the phone....unless you just got a bunch of money to blow then go for it
stick with the GalaxyS2 boss! like someone said earlier in this thread - we'll get ICS support fairly quickly with a ROM after source hits. specs are better on our phone and the lack of microsd card was a bit of a deal killer for us.
i'm getting galaxy nexus with 1280x720 resolutions! that is like putting your home desktop monitor in your pocket! haha
and 4.65 screen which the GS2 can never give me!

I'm debating doing the same. FWIW, I think the int'l GSM version of the GN will be available perhaps even before the Verizon version. If you're willing to pay full retail, it's an attractive option.

The HTC one X is gonna be fantastic!

I'm just so excited about this phone. I'm coming from a galaxy note and a galaxy s 2 before that, both amazing phones. I'm sure the Galaxy SIII is gonna be insane, but i really like what HTC is doing with the one brand. By HTC making the one X their flagship phone, they will give it a LOT of support, it will be one of the first devices to get android Jelly bean after the next nexus. And the dev community is gonna be awesome I can already smell it. And last but not least the hardware of this phone will make this device future proof. I personally don't mind the non removable battery and 32gig is more than enough on my PHONE. Let's GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Cool no worries.

I was ONE click away from the One X but...

I chose the galaxy nexus. And I'm very very very excited. At the end of the day you just have to be happy with your purchase. When the galaxy nexus first came out, I was like wow I want this phone so bad but I couldn't justify buying it since I had a galaxy s 2. Then I wanted a galaxy note but deep inside I really wanted a nexus but went for the note. Loved it a lot! Then sold it to get the One X buy deep in side again the nexus man I'm telling you I had to have it and I was one click away to buy the one x but then I went with my gut feeling and bought the nexus. I think I'm destined to have this phone after all this time. I'm so excited, I could care less about specs right now. I'm planning on getting the Galaxy s 3 when it comes out also and I'll keep both but I think the nexus is a must have. Very excited to say the least. WINNING!!!!!!!!!!! Splash!
nice, however if i was you i would have bought the one X today. sure the Gnex is awesome but its about 6 months old already and the one x would have been a better purchase

Well it is newer, and it is better. I would rather have the One X, as long as it's unlockable/rootable and I could put stock ICS on it. Then it would be a very awesome phone. As we've seen from the Galaxy S (and even the Galaxy Nexus actually), having a Nexus phone doesn't even mean you get updates first and/or in a timely fashion anymore.

Except that when Jelly Bean comes out...we will have it and it will not.
Most people upgrade their devices to get the latest OSes. HTC devices are stagnant.
So that point is moot.

Having to jump through loops to unlock/root it and not having a pure stock ICS ROM available for download is a pretty big point not making it better in my book.
Sure it looks nice, build quality seems very good, too. Quadcore is probably not yet the wisest choice for a smartphone, as it is not really necessary and eats a LOT of battery.
Just because we had to wait a few months for the update this time also doesn't mean it will be always like this in the future.
First gen dual cores blew.
First gen anything has issues. Time will tell with quads, but it will not even remotely shock me if issues show up.

And then the devs struggle to figure out how to get AOSP to work on the phone while they wait for manufacturer's source: the months of waiting for AOSP to be (fully) functional on a non-Nexus device are enough to turn me off "upgrading" no matter how good a phone looks. The fluke/perfect storm of getting AOSP to run so easily on the SGS likely will never happen again.

Want to purchase a GNex

So with the recent announcement of Ubuntu on phones and my increased interest in android development I want to get a Galaxy Nexus. I found a few on ebay and such, but I wanted to get input from the GNex community on a few things. How much is reasonable to pay for a new or lightly used GNex? I am developer too and I got my Gnex 2 months ago, because that phone is heaven for developers. I used to struggle with Galaxy S and few xperias, even One X. But still, Gnex is still king of androids. S3 is my secondary phone, but I prefer Gnex much more, its my prime phone. You can keep with Gnex for another year for sure, except you really want max fps for future games. Otherwise, the phone is great
Cool, thanks for the input. I currently own a HTC Rezound and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, both of which I have rooted and played with custom ROM's. Lately though I have wanted to do my own developing and from what I understand Nexus devices are some of the best for that. An extra bonus is that Ubuntu will be coming soon!

No. You need a Toro GNex.
Hey Ginger,
The Nexus is an awesome phone, and I to am excited for the Ubuntu phone developments. It will be while before I give up my Android, however,
Anyways in regards to your question, I found this for you:
slickdeals.net/f/5748592-Factory-Recertified-Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-SCH-I515-Verizon-4G-LTE-220-00
I have seen daily steals around, but I have never used it before. I would research some reviews of the site. However, slickdeals is one of the most credible deal websites out there. I would browse there every now and then.
Hope this helps or at least gets you some more information!
Thank you guys again. I will be sure to look at that sight on occasion.
You could also look on Swappa for deals on android phones. It seems like they have some pretty decent deals.
Whats your opinion on new versus manufacture refurbished devices?
Keep in mind that the chances for Toro to get a running build of Ubuntu is very slim, the radio is very different and it may take a while for developers to get it working weigh all the features

Same phone i had until tuesday. Bought a 32gb model off my friend for 125 bucks when he got his DNA. It's a sideways move aside from the roms are much better (no funky bluetooth if you run rom x, no volume issues with rom y) and the signal seems a little weaker on it, i used to get 4g in my basement, now i dont. But im very happy with it, since i can do whatever i want on it.

The android ril is open source for toro. Also any assumption toro will be easy or hard needs to wait until we see source code as Ubuntu may use androids ril or their own. The ril is just the layer between the os and radio firmware. I'd think a ril port to ubuntu shouldn't be too difficult.

The android ril is open source for toro. Also any assumption toro will be easy or hard needs to wait until we see source code as Ubuntu may use androids ril or their own. The ril is just the layer between the os and radio firmware. I'd think a ril port to ubuntu shouldn't be too difficult.

My Thunderbolt is dying on Verizon and I need a new 4G phone as well but need to keep my plan.
http://lastcall.dailysteals.com/heist/5705/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-32GB 32GB Verizon Nex for $220, refurb'd.
In Cyprus it's €325

I will be keeping my GNexus until 5G comes out, lol. I had the Original OG for 3 years. Development is amazing on this phone!

On craigslist Verizon go for $150-200, GSM for $200-250. Can even buy a brand new one for those prices

Checked my local Craigslist (SF Bay Area):
Sprint: $160 - 200
Verizon: $190 - 250
GSM: $200 - 370
Also noticed several postings with the deliberately misleading name "Samsung Galaxy Nexus S" (doesn't exist, but they're trying to sell you a Nexus S, not GNex), and some sketchy ones that are probably stolen phones. Be careful with those (a phone reported stolen to Sprint or Verizon will have its ESN blacklisted and service unusable).
The GSM high end looks expensive, but since it's no longer available on Play Store (was $350 new), buying a new one costs ~$400 from third party now (Amazon, Expansys).
There was also a deal on Verizon GNex off-contract for $230 few months ago, but that's gone as well. Knowing this, you might be able to bargain with CL sellers though.

Where has preorders strated?

In which site can one preorder the new one?

No where

It's not a pre order phone. 3/25 is when we can all get our hands on it.

What do you mean source?
Car Warehouse UK is selling it on launch day, it makes sense to believe that others will follow suit (info points to at&t and Verizon for sure but nothing on Sprint and T-Mobile yet)

It would be really smart of HTC to have a worldwide launch on the 25th and get a 2 week head start on sales before the S5 attracts the sheeple.
Take this with a grain of salt...
Called a local T-Mobile store and they said they'll have plenty of stock on Tuesday! So, all these rumors of availability on launch day may be very true.

My buddy works for Verizon corporate here in Southern California. It will be available in stores here March 25th, Tuesday. Can't speak for the rest of ya but i'm sure this gives you a clear picture, no BS here. Personally i'm still gonna wait out a few weeks to see the online reviews and what not. Don't get me wrong, i'm buyin this mofo. Just saying, nice to see all the reviews, give the case companies time to actually have cases in stock to order and ship, etc. etc. Sometimes first product runs have issues as we all know so just going to wait a few to see how it goes then diving on in! Can't wait, specs that are confirmed are enough for me to buy hands down!

I hope its the m8 sometimes i walk into these tmobile reps and its like they dont know ****... Either they are really dumb or they play dumb... I walked in a tmobile store yesterday and asked and they aswell had no damn clue of what i was talking about... This is very frustrating and depressing because i dont know whether to be excited for this phone yet or not... Oh well hopefully someone will leak the tmobile inventory tommorow..

Ask them about the S5. I think people forget that Samsung's carrier is T-Mobile literally. Reason why T-Mobile were one of the last to get the M7, pushin those Samsung devices hard as their number one baby! I think if T-Moblie didn't have Samsung the way they do they would be out of business by now or a pre paid Virgin mobile type of company. How Sprint is still in business is beyond me.

Guess well all see tomorrow but quoting your link, " That is – of course – if this information turns out to be true." If so I doubt the S5 will make much of a splash when people see both phones in store as this will be available first again if true.

Its more than likely true. Online exclusive, however. Which is going to piss off jump customers, like myself.
I'm 99% gonna get the new One but a very small part of me is holding back and gonna wait for the first reviews on here like I did when I got the HTC One M7 last April
