[Q] Question about update my Arc

Hi, i got an Arc with 2.3.3 rooted Singapore Generic version, i wanted to update to the latest 2.3.4, but Singapore Generic version haven't release yet, so i wanted to ask if i flash with Generic version, can i flash the Global Generic rooted img? Because the Global Generic version link i found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1269937 doesn't work for me, i mean i can't open the link
And also can i flash with doom's .368 kernal in .238?
Currently i'm downloading Generic Nordic for my Arc
no one can answer my question?
If your bootloader is unlocked flash an image, if not an ftf. Ask about the kernel on the thread.

my bootloader is unlocked, so you mean I can flash any rooted img? Also, anyone can upload the global generic to another website? because the link I mentioned above not working for me

[Q] How do I upgrade to 4.0 with a LOCKED Bootloader? PLEASE HELP =)

Hey guys! As the title states, Just trying to figure out a step-by-step way to upgrade my Arc to 4.0+ whilst having a LOCKED BOOTLOADER.
I am unable to unlock the bootloader and understand this causes quite a few problems.
I already "bricked" the phone once..had to repair it to get it back to stock again. I don't want to go through that again..
So, it would be greatly appreciated if someone could kindly direct me to, or outline here, a step-by-step guide to installing ICS on my Xperia Arc.
Thanks for all your time and help!
Use flashtool to flash the official ICS release.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. Do I need to have root before upgrading? And also, do I need CWM recovery?
Can I just use flashtool to flash the ftf file?
Thanks again for the help. Much appreciated

Just flash using flashtool, it flashes the kernel too. I think Binary has added a root file too.

There is an update you need to apply to flashtools if you have version .6 you need version .7 look in stickies for flashtools... Info in that thread.

If your phone is Xperia Arc(LT 15i) I recommend you to wait the official update of ICS for arc, at this moment ICS is available for Arc S. I have Xperia Arc but i use a custom ICS rom with custom kernel, and bootloader unlocked.
Thanks everyone for the info.
My Xperia is LT15a, but I recently got it repaired and now it says LT18a instead. =S
Android 2.3.4
Baseband: 8x55A-AAABQOAZM-203028D-64
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf - [email protected] #1
Build Number: 4.0.2.A.0.62
Bootloader is Locked
Can I still upgrade?
Thanks again for your time and help!

huh ? i do not understand... is it okay for the repair shop to do that ? . . . there are several h/w differences between last year's model and this year's model to 'require' the new internal s/w to properly talk to the new h/w ( drivers... )
.
please correct me if i am wrong.

hope this one will be as smooth as GB.
hmmm looking forward to see what new features fixes does it have. hopefully it is not a regional framework only.
looks like it is a carrier/region specific update..btw one update for arc s is on its way..
It,s the same 4.0.4 but for a carrier in the UK
I'm not have update ?
I believe it's the 4.0.4 ICS UK update for 3.
At least that's what was reported by one of our other members.
Sorry if that dashed your hopes. LOL!
How will this work as I am on 3 and my Phone has officially updated to 4.0.4

The .431 kernel is not root-able. I think you meant the the 4.0.3 kernel

My phone is branded to `3` and to concur with xtacy above , it recently updated to this firmware .
Hmm. Does this only occur on unrooted? I am on 3 and it just says I have the latest software if I check in PC Companion?
did u flash an ftf to update ur phone or get it through update official ?

I used PC Companion to flash then ran Doomlord root bat file. I take it I won't get any official update unless I remove root (probably have to do repair to do that though right?).
I have a notification saying FW 4.1.B.0.431 Is now available. Anyone know what it is? Don't want to update if it's just a few fixes for 4.0.3.
