Your not a brony are you?

So I just tried running Jandycane, Hellfire, and CM10 w/ SGT7 today. Jandycane is pretty, but I had a hell of a time with the status bar and it didn't have the latest CM10 enhancements. CM 10 w/ SGT7 has the most updates, however for some reason KFU does not recognize it when in ADB mode. Hellfire has a bit older CM10 version, but otherwise works perfectly. For now I'm on Hellfire but I suspect CM 10 w/ SGT7 will become the best one over time as updates are made.

CM10 w/ SGT7 it is!

Well so far I really love CM10 w/ SGT7! Way more stable than JandyCane! I can open Chrome and Instagram also! So far every app runs and works great! A lot more tweaks too....
CM10 w/ SGT7 should come up with a catchy name for it so it gets more recognition...

Yep, I am.

Yes it does the same for me! I asked the question here but got no answer. But yes SW encoding seems to work best... Strange that HW doesn't...

Roms with almost no bugs or not so noticeable ones for Kindle Fire

Does anybody know a good rom with almost no bugs or ones that are not to noticeable. I would like to get ICS 4.0.4
I am currently running MoDaCo gr8
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
After reading this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638617) I started with gedeROM, and like it a lot. There are potentially some quirks w/ USB mass storage but that seems to be more of a drivers issue, not a ROM one (I simply had to uninstall the drivers, unplug/plug back in the Fire and my Windows 7 laptop reinstalled the drivers w/o problems). USB xfer is a little slow, known/already reported issue. Charging LED doesn't stay lit but it does charge, that might be a kernel thing.. Lockscreen customization is a nice plus too. Latest build also has the theme engine included, but I haven't used it since i like the stock theme.
I've tried Reloaded, AOKP and Gummy, all of which are very nice too, but I ended up sticking w/ gedeROM. For my usage, there are no issues.
I would recommend that you try each, over time. In general they're all similar but each have their own unique visual/functional touches that differentiate them from the others.
I like the gedeROM
But I cant get it to connect to my iPhone wifi hotspot
something about ICS not supporting ad hoc
For me, it's a toss up between gederom or Hashcode's ROM. Gederom seems to have better functionality, like the true full screen and lack of airplane mode, but Hashcode's ROM offers a wider array of available apps. If you like Game loft games, however, gederom is the way to go.
gedeROM is now my daily driver and it rocks! Tried Energy and it was good too but gedeROM seems more complete at this time.
Thanks but is there any way to get kindle owners lending library on the gedeRom

I Really like MoDaCo, because it just works beautifully, but gederom just looks wonderful, so I'm living with a few of the bugs for now: charging issue (slow; no charge indicator on power button), power drains a bit fast, USB Mass Storage connectivity issue (just boot into TWRP for USB transfers for now), a few unnoticeable sound and DSP issues. No Prime video, but so what... I have Netflix -- you could also try Crackle, it's free.

Just flash the latest kernel after flashing the ROM, to be sure you have the latest kernel.

I have an "allow only" MAC list in my router with my kindle's MAC in it, and after switching to gederom from MoDaCo, I didn't have to change anything, so it's not an issue, I guess.

+1 for gedeROM, I have been enjoying it for over a week now. I was on EnergyROM prior and liked it a lot too.

I would recommend CM10 using SGT7 enhancements by twa_priv
And I have been very pleased with EyeCandy. The ROM's title speaks for itself, it is simply the sexiest ROM out there.
I have been using eyecandy and its great.

I've found that although jandycane has lots of features, hashcode's ROM is more stable.
I have been using Hashcode's release. From what I heard it is the most stable.
When life gives you tech....Make use of it.
I flashed JellyCane last night and its a really nice ROM. Ive found zero issues in my 6+ hours of testing after flashing it last night.
I'm using twa_priv's and it's working very well. I still get some crashing errors whenever I mute the volume and cannot install the Kindle android app (error -24). I've had Chrome crash once or twice and had the device spontaneously reboot a couple times but otherwise it's working way better than how Amazon shipped it to me.
I'm following all of the JB ROM threads and it sounds like they are roughly equivalent in terms of stability.

What build are you on that crashes when you mute?
Both the 7-23 and 7-28. I just reflashed 7-28 and wiped cache / dalvik to be sure.
I had the problem with the stock volume widget and now also with the Volume Control app when I slide the volume down to zero percent.
Anything I can do to gather more info? Am I the only having these muting crashes?
I just tried it again with the stock widget in the status bar (tablet mode) and hitting mute does not produce the com.android.phone errors; only when you slide the volume down to zero.

Hashcode's was a great jumping off point, but I think Jandycane is the way to go now. Very stable, almost all the features you could want in a ROM. Google Now is fc'ing for me, but I just use the browser for search anyway.

How stable is it would you say? Enough to use as a daily driver? I still have Gede 1.7 for my girlfriend's KF, but thinking about upgrading to a jelly bean rom. Just wondering if they're stable enough yet..

Hard to answer since it depends what you need to work, but I'm extremely happy with the stability. I use the ROM primarily for chrome, gmail, google reader, tapatalk, boid (twitter), youtube, google+, goodreads. All that stuff is working great for me for at least a week of heavy use. I get some occasional crashes/reboots but not more than once per day.
I haven't tried any games or the Facebook app. My primary disappointment right now is that I can't get the Kindle android app to install. It's ironic that I can't use my Kindle as a Kindle.
If you want to test the waters I recommend going the FFF dualboot route. Put one of the JB ROMs on the main partition and Gede on the alternate. Minor hassle to reboot to the other ROM but also amazing that all of these great devs have made Amazon's limited device into something ridiculously versatile. My formerly dusty KF has become my primary device!

Are any of the ICS ROMs daily driver ready?

I've read through all of the individual ROM threads, as well as any question threads, and it seems like none of them are quite ready.

What are you missing from them to be a daily driver? I've had zero issues on my CM9 build and you can find two options in the development thread that are extremely stable.
The only thing not working with ICS is the stock camcorder to my knowledge, but third party apps still work if you need it.

I can't get mlb at bat to play mlb.tv on both DInc and Nook Color running CM9. Not a location issues, it tries but says Error-Can not play video. All other video seems to work.
Can't see any other issues with CM9, runs ok but maybe a little slower than CM7.
Depends what your standards for a daily driver are. If you mean a phone you can use to make calls, use some apps, without a lot of hassle, then yeah, they're daily drivers. If you want perfection, no glitches or bugs ever, then no.
The camcorder is the biggest issue for me (I was running Evervolv, but they're all built on the same base). Yeah, the camcorder kind of works, but playback is broken, and it's not nearly as smooth as stock. Also, I find that after a while (a day or two), things just start to get laggy. Not awful, but it doesn't fly like it does on stock. The graphics (especially the home screens and the app drawer) are actually way smoother on ICS than on stock, but it takes longer to actually get your apps opened and running. I'm currently rockin' Ice Cream Senseless with Holo Launcher. ( I also spent some time using Touch of Blue, I liked it a lot, but the 2am reboots kept making me miss my alarm clock and be late for work...) My current setup gives me 95% of what I liked about ICS, and it's very snappy and extremely stable. No doubt I'll be back to craving Ice Cream Sandwich (or Jelly Bean - lol) in another week or so, but I always end up coming back to this one.
Smoothness is the biggest issue, IMO.

I ran drk.hd's CM a9 for a while and it worked well except for the known video camera issue. The only reason I changed is because I got flash happy.
I went to mamarley's CM9 w/linearo and it is running very smooth (still no stock video camera). Although, I had to use the ics incredikernel w/HWA because mamarley's kernel was not communicating with my touch screen.

I've been using the Linaro optimized CM9 ROM with the included Mamarley kernel.
The only issue I've run into is a problem with the bluetooth connecting to my car and not being able to play the call audio through the car speakers. I "think" they're working on a fix for it.

is your's a amoled or slcd? I ended up having to do the same thing and I am just curious.
I've been on MIUI v4 since May and it's been very solid with the exception that Netflix doesn't work for me. It plays about 2 seconds of sound (no video) and then just a black screen. Going forward or backward in the video doesn't do anything to help it pick back up. MIUI GB worked great with Netflix previous to the ICS build. I thought maybe it was HWA related, but I've tried a few different kernels and haven't had any luck. Youtube plays just fine.
I am going to flash cm9 in a moment to see if Netflix works there.
edit: Flashed cm9 -- still the same issue with Netflix. Plays sound for about 2 seconds, then stops. Anyone else with this problem?

I think it's a problem related to the camcorder not working. I'm no Android programmer, but I'd bet it's because of a codec issue. Shame that barely any ROMs support a working camcorder.
Have you tried Evervolv 2.2.0p3? I hear that ROM has a working camcorder, but haven't tested it myself.
drk.hd CM9a9 with Chad/Tiny Incredikernel HWA
Working great as a daily driver, camcorder/netflix/youtube (occasionally) dont work.
Im very happy with it otherwise.

What version of ICS are you running and what problems if any are you having with it? Before moving to Jelly Bean I was running ROM][26-6-2012] gedeROM v1.7 {Linaro - Swipe Controls}, for the most part I was happy with it. Ran just about everything I threw at it. Only problem was the power LED which Hashcode is still working on. I monitored the development board and saw that twa_priv was getting a good following on his ROM. I deded to try it a month ago. I liked the speed as well as some of the enhancements. I did discover however that Next Edition and AP news stopped running. I keep hoping this will change but nothing so far. Most recent flash was twa_priv latest (expeimental) ROM using Hashcodes latest Kernel: 20120821-0215-Linaro (New Kernel) / Experimental). This puppy absolutely screams, Hashcode states that there is still a problem with the charging indicator, ( it does charge however), BUT, I find with twa_priv's compilation not only does my charge icon work properly, my led works properly for the first time since I modded back in March of this year. The power led turns green once it is fully charged but stays green until I unplug. During the runup to full charge it turns orange and then flips to green at around 90%.
With that said, there is a bootloop issue which I have run into once. I had to shut down and reboot without success. Booted into
TWRP 2.2.1 and cleared cache. Everything seems stable at the moment. In fareness to twa_priv he does have a new version just posted which continues to follow his builds and not Hashcodes....
Now that I have thoroughly confused you. I will leave you to your thoughts and decisions
Good Luck
UPDATE! Went back and deliberately shut down three times to see if the expiremental ROM would boot clean or go back into a loop. It looped, booting clean only after I once again cleaned cache. I am going back to twa_priv's ROM and follow his development for now.

I used to use Energyrom CM9 before I ran into twa_priv's cm10. I haven't looked back since. Battery life seems like a better improvement from ICS to JB on my kindle. About an extra hour or two.
Another satisfied twa_priv CM10 (SGT7) user here...
Why not go with twa_priv's cm10?
After having worked with the excellent MoDaCo Custom ROM by paulobrien for some time, giving you the option to use Amazon Prime, I tried a couple of ROMS and switched to twa_priv's cm10. The last version with the old kernel (20120823-0057-Linaro) runs very smoothly and offers mass storage, e.g. you can use an external hard disk (usb2) to view films on the kindle via OTG. All my apps work and there is great support on the thread.
The latest ROM (20120824-2036-Linaro) uses Hashcode's new kernel which is still under development, but since you have regular, weekly updates, improvements will soon be applied. I would consider it the best ROM I have used so far.

[Q] AOKP NIGHTLY Jan-10-13 Problems d2att

Hi All,
I have recently installed this build cleanly on an AT&T Galaxy S3 (d2att) build from:
goo im nightlies (sorry - wont let me post link - under 10 posts)
I love this build. The UI mods available and the battery life (which was absolutely amazing) were well done and polished.
One of the big issues I had was that Bluetooth would not turn on at all.
I just wanted to know if this has been disabled (or not implemented yet)?
Thank you all and I look forward to using AOKP in the future. Unfortunately, without this, I had to move back to CM10.1 Nightlies.

Bluetooth turns on for me, I don't use it but for what I hear you can make calls with it. Audio streaming is borked though.
Bluetooth doesn't work on any 4.2 rom yet, AOKP and AOSP (ie. CM10.1).
It's a very known issue.

Sure it does - I am using bluetooth in my car with 4.2.1 (CM 10.1 NIGHTLY Jan 13-13 and previously builds) for some time.
Using it for audio has been laced with issues, like the no bass issue.

Bluetooth turns on for me, I don't use it but for what I hear you can make calls with it. Audio streaming is borked though.
