Okay so I go to the Android Central website and see this article about Boot to Gecko >> http://www.androidcentral.com/sunday-project-mozillas-build-gecko-your-android-smartphone. I've heard of it before, even seen a demo video. But this is the first time I've heard of it openly being compiled. I know we have a lot of dev's in this forum and I was wondering if anyone plans on compiling and seeing if it is possible to get this running on the Epic 4G Touch.
Not that I'm a coder or volunteering, but I read the article and the "Why the hell are you doing this" section didn't answer one question - Why would you do this?
Basically, what's the benefit/outcome/result from doing such?

I'm guessing the OP wants someone to do it for him. Its doesn't look to difficult. But not really interesting. Thanks for showing it. Maybe it will catch someone's eye.

I don't want anyone to do it for me. If I did I would go over to the dev forum and look for an able-bodied person to do it. I was just wondering if anyone planned on compiling it for the Epic 4G Touch. If you would have watched the video you would have heard him say that it took three hours to compile it. I'm sure a few of the dev's here would be able to compile in fraction of the time it took for him to compile it.

Please don't take any comment in offense.
I was mearly curious as to what this is for or what it would be used for.
I apologize if it took away from your post, but it does leave one to wonder- what does it do/what is this good for?

YouTube it. I forgot what show I saw it at, though. It was either CES or MWC. Someone made a video and posted the demo on YouTube. At the time I thought it was cool. I just hope it doesn't turn out MIUI. I actual thought MIUI was good until I installed and realized that I had get into the market in order to get an app drawer. What good is an operating system, if you have to go to the market to add a default feature?
Right on. Will do.

I am sorry if I offended you in anyway. I'll have to watch the video. Sorry. I have seen quite a few posts in Q&A where people are asking for someone to do something for them.
Edit: wow its something new.(video) Thanks for sharing. not bad for an alpha build.

Hello guys, I'm new to this side of the forum as i owned an HTC evo shift before buying this phone. I've read and re read all the stickied rooting threads yet I'm still confused as to what i must do. All i want is root, no custom roms or anything fancy yet. I know i have ICS 4.0.4 and that's about as far as my knowledge goes. I apologize for being such a noob.

Well you can Odin FF18 root +cwm. That's sfhub's on click Odin. But they have the new FH13 as well too.

Right on. Just asking. And using sfhubs threads, and now garwynn's as well, will get you there. Just had to ask cause that post I linked has the same info. Well, not updated with what Garwynn's putting out.
And the naming convention refers to when it was dated.. Alphabetically for year/month and numerically for date of the month.

Ya I know I need to update that...I've been lazy because even if it is updated daily we still get ~10 new q&a threads a day about info in there (for example info on the naming conventions for stock roms is in there!).... garwynn has been doing 1clicks of the new leaks correct? I'll have to add that in, unfortunately I've been working 60 hour weeks and trying to teach myself to build aokp so I having put much time to maintaining that thread...

Wasn't meant as a dig and I hope you didn't take it that way.
Garwynn has the rooted oc fh13, which is linked in rwilco's thread, but I believe the xda references point to the sxtp forum.
I may have made an observation that I shouldn't have put out on the post. Sorry. Was just giving recognition for the latest.

you can do reviews of roms without people subscribing to your channel.
Not sure why everyone is being so rude.
To the OP, you don't need devs' permission to do a review. If you have good reviews, people will watch on their own. Also it doesn't hurt to post more, and having a link to your channel in your signature and posting a link to the review in the ROM thread. People will watch (especially people thinking of flashing ROMs) before they do it. Hope this helps.
Thank you
Thank for all the input.
You can hate all you guys want. i am new to all of these things i will review roms and hopefully someday be big on youtube.
I appreciate all the tips that i got. Fairly quick too!
T:laugh:hank you
Watch allaboutandroids YouTube videos as he does great reviews. If you're not at his caliber your videos are poor quality in my book. I like the idea, just don't believe you'll be any good. Mounted camera two free hands and very knowledgeable about rooting and the roms history, not something you'll just be able to pick up and help into. Make sure you read the OP and if it's AOKP or CM10 make sure you know the little things that are broken or borked. Make sure you can show how battery is so you should be on at least the 2nd-3rd charge cycle to show. And don't be afraid of criticism cause YouTube and internet tough guys are notorious for picking on phone reviewers, rom as well I'm sure. Good luck.

I'm just curious whether or not the developers would be able to port multi view to the sgs3 without having to be on serenity.. and when will it be ported to that since it is an actual gnote 2 ROM?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The Sprint Note 2 is the only one with the most recent update, so who ever does it will have to port it from that until Tmobile Note 2 gets it.
I rather wait until we get it for our S3. Shouldn't be long before it starts popping up in roms.
