Hi all,
As a fellow XDA-er told me to reflash my rom I'm looking for it. I'm running stock JB yakju image from google. Is this flashable? If not, where can I get one? And will this affect OTA notifications?
You maybe able to find a cwd flashable stock ROM. The ones directly from Google need adb and familiarity with fastboot. Do you have a unlocked bootloader?

I already got experience with converting from yakjuxw to yakju so i am familiar with adb and fastboot. Is there a way to flash it without losing my data apps settings etc.?

Backup using titanium backup, copy the TitaniumBackup folder on your sdcard to your PC, then flash stock, drag it back and restore.

Will this also include the in app data? And settings?

Backup using Titanium. Follow the yakju convert guide, and but skip flashing the userdata partition and recovery partition. Then boot into CWM and wipe data and cache. Then, you once you reboot, restore your titanium backup.

Isn't that what Google restores when you setup your device? And should i first let Google restore our should i skip that and let titanium restore first? Sorry I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to backups
That never worked for me.
I always fire up Titanium Backups after factory resetting. Side note, do backup everything before you flash your phone.

Hi,
Anyone can tell me, what do you do before installing a new custom ROM so you can get back all your settings and apps (apps with all its settings/data)?
I have a Galaxy Nexus (GSM), fastbook unlocked, stock 4.0.4.
Last time, when I fastboot unlocked my GNex, and flashed the 4.0.4 factory image, I re-setting my phone manually, and installed all apps manually.
What do you do usually, to minimize all those re-setting and apps re-installation?
Thanks.

i have samsung galaxy S2 T989 ICE 4.0.4 (ROOTED) i flashed google now but its not working ,,then i flashed stock google search to get it back to stock but after flashing i discovered that i flashed galaxy note stock google search ,, stupid me i know that lol now the phone keep freezing and giving me errors about thing related to google search,, i disabled all app related to google search and the phone working fine now,, but i need to flash stock google search for T989 so i can enable it again and use it ,,can anyone help me with that??
Why not just go back to stock and wipe everything

You're obviously using a custom recovery. Just restore the backup you made before all this flashing.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I would just backup everything using your own recovery then flashing the stock firmware again and restoring your apps from the backup or if you want google now this rom has it working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836108
Use titanium back up to back up your apps. If on CWM 5.xx, use darkside super wipe, reflash stock rom or a any custom t989 rom. If help needed with flashing, explore the dev section for more info.

Do a factory reset. Just back up your apps before you do it.

Download titanium back up. Back up all app data. Make sure your on the latest clockwork mod or twrp. Wipe data factory reset flash mmuzzy 4.2.2 rom let apps restore from play store then restore app data from titanium back up and profit.

You can, but will she even notice if its updated? I'd fastboot flash all except userdata.img, in your case http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
so i can get the system img and boot img from 4.2.2 and flash it on her Gnex and itll work?

I think Titanium is your best bet... After I flash a rom I restore apps and data (not system apps) before I even sign into my Google accounts, it's never failed, I've have backups that I've used since Titanium came out, it's never failed me and I've never had any issues with it...

THIS!
Trust me ANY other custom ROM is usually ALOT better than pure stock, she will appreciate it mor as an update!
Any custom rom will have advantages over plain stock.
I also have a similar question. Is there any way to stay on stock unrooted 4.1.1 and get the 4.2 lock screen?

Yeah I figured - I'll probably just use Cyanogen's nightly. Thanks for the reply.

So I just got another GNex while I wait for more development on the Optimus G.
But for some reason whenever I backup a rom, that's all it does. It doesn't backup the whole configuration. So when I restore a backup I have to set up everything and re-download all my applications again etc.
Anyone seen this before?

Use titanium backup to backup your apps. When backing up a ROM it backs up the ROM itself. Example is when you accidentally brick your phone. You restore the ROM to its stable form not the apps.

No there's definitely something not right, every time and every phone I've used nandroid on backs up eeeeverything, games, apps, settings, rom, texts etc. The only thing it doesn't backup is the sd card.
Edit: TWRP or clockwork?

Negative. A nandroid is a snapshot of the entirety of the system and user data. Barring a few notable circumstances, restoring a backup restore everything on the device as it was at the point in time the backup was made, save for the sdcard.

Yea that's what I thought. With every other phone it backs up everything.

I also have a green tint when booted into recovery. Both the older and newer version of TWRP. But everything else is fine. No tint anywhere else.

What if you try cwm? I've never used twrp, so i do not know, but would assume there are backup options somewhere? Alternately, have you looked into the latest changelog? Maybe it's been made to not backup that data, as it could caue some bugs?...

There has been reports that backup/restore doesn't work with the newest TWRP (2.4.2.0).
You might want to dig up and find an older build and see if that will work.
EDIT: Here's a bunch of TWRP .img files.

I have the Epic 4G Touch. I'd like to proceed with rooting it and ultimately CM10. I'd like to back up all the random stuff that I've accumulated over the last few years of owning this phone before I do that. Titanium Backup is only for rooted devices, as I understand it. What is the preferred method for backing up a device before rooting?

You can root it without losing any data.

Ypu can also just use odin to flash the el26 kernel. Then go into recovery and make a nandroid. After that flash whatever rom after wiping. Then on your new rom use titanium backup pro to restore from nandroid. Choose your apps and the data and restore. Do not restore anything system.

If you haven't moved forward with yet you can also use Helium for your backup -- it is available in the Play Store for free and is one of the only suites that will let you backup apps and data without root. I think that it will require access to a PC for the non-root backup. Good luck!
