lost sound on jelly bean rom - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First a quick shout out to Albinoman who made the JB rom in question here (I'll put a link to it at the bottom of this post). He did an amazing job and I am thoroughly enjoying jelly bean goodness on my very old and abused incredible.
I should mention (if it helps someone figure out what happened) that the device has been torn apart by myself multiple times to solve two issues: (and for fun)
The first being the display was shattered and had to be replaced,
And the second being that the device had been laid down in something wet for over a week while not in my possession, covering the internal parts with said wet..ness.. (no idea what it was). A few days disassembled in rice fixed the wetness issue and it worked perfectly!
Now I fixed some other software issues it was having (lost root after a failed rom flash) and loaded cm6.1 onto the device, and then cm7.2, and then this JB rom.. in one afternoon....... (gets addicting after only one flash!!). It was doing fine all day with only issues with the camera and Google chrome until I went to mess with the sound settings and went to: settings/ sound/ volumes. When I tapped volumes it said, "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." All sound no longer works.. A battery pull, multiple restarts with setting changes, and finally a factory reset later and nothing has changed. Thanks for reading this much too long post. any ideas what I should do next?
As promised, here is a link to Albinoman's rom which I highly recommend checking out.

fixed sound issue
I'm still kicking myself over this.. I put the speaker in backwards.. yep.. now would be a good time to learn how to delete a thread..

btw, many devs, Albinoman included, would appreciate it if you ask questions that are related to their roms, on the rom's original post. just a heads up man.

They would, but there's that 10 post rule here on xda...
@markd: Glad you got it figured out! Props to you for not being afraid to tinker.

Actually q&a is for questions of anything related to the device and the rom threads as I understand is supposed to be only for posts contributing to development of that project but you're right most devs including me like when issues/questions are in the ROM thread.
Hey I got an idea. Remove the 10 post rule to post in dev but not allow creating topics in dev until 40 or 50 posts.

[Q&A]["Spamming and ETC :)"]CyanogenMod 9.0.0-GalaxyICS

Hello everybody here,
so lots of us said that we should have a "Spamming" thread for CM9 and 4.0 Android development made by Maclaw's DevTeam-thanks for them, again . So here it is:
Please guys, if you have any bugs and problems which are already mentioned in GitHub, but you don't care to "ask-first-then-shoot", then post your problem here.
Please, write here, and really, don't annoy dev's on their DEV thread. That's for them to submit upgrades, news, and stuff.
Thanks anyway, and please, let the Dev's work in the calm way it should be.
Spam and post your heartbreaks here
Thnx for the thread. I feel like I can post my non-contructive post yet not clutter the dev thread
I following/trying CM9 closely. It looks very promising can't wait for the finished ROM
I should make some time to properly test/bugreport in git.
Should be in general, not there.

have u ever thought, that 'tards constantly flaming and making EXCEPTIONALLY unnecessary threads such as this one, are in fact much worse than noobs whining about their gallery not working?
Seriously though, I've been following Maclaw's thread for weeks, and the spam is no where near annoying as some "certain efforts" to end it.
Haters gonna hate, noobs gonna noob, deal with it.
p.s i consider myself a noob as far as android goes. But i don't whine about it, and don't shout at people on forums.
p.s2 somehow I doubt that this message will make the impact I intended it to make... sad.
Oh, and another thing - how do you define "spamming" and it's relation to the original post? I'm not much of a linguist myself, but something tells me you're not either, therefore both of us should keep our mouths shut...?
Oh 2.0: did i mention that this whole thread is a spam? ( and what is it we do with spam nowadays huh? )
You made good points. I don't spam myself as I see others do. At first I thought this was a good idea. So the course of action is to kill this thread or let it die.

how about fixing 3d graphics in future? Now, Asphalt 5 is laggy on my Gio.
same as inotia, cant play currently
but that will be fixed when the rom features work flawless

feiks- if you dont feel that this therad is necessary, then ignore it. there are some people who think this is a good one, although Maclaw is right, this should be in general.
And yes, spaming the DEV post is something like the whining of ~15 people that gallery is not working, camera is not working...if they'd read first, then they would know what they can get from this rom.
Though, ignore this post if it's unnecessary for you.
For the others, enjoy.

Intentionally creating threads in the wrong place, just annoys other users and creates work for me. In future think about where to place your thread.
If after creating a thread you think, "I should of posted that in 'General'". PM me or report the post, I'll happily move it.
Thank you
It was my fault to place it to development.

Loving the ICS ROM by Maclaw and the gang - awesome work - it keeps getting better and better with each release.
Android is new to me so still learning - trying to get text to speech working, of course to try out a Siri like app.
I cannot seem to find where to turn on text to speech. I have tried a couple of apps and it appears that it is not on - and I cannot find where to turn it on.
Thanks in advance for any help

Finally I can say something about CM9 and ICS. I've been quietly reading the development thread from the beginning and thanking developers' posts for many months.
Anyway, I read that next release will be faster and with more working settings. I can't wait to try it out. I tried Beta 2, because it got generally good feedback before, and I thought that maybe it is good enough for daily usage. True, it is functional enough, but just a bit too laggy and glitchy for my liking. It was a good experience to test it, and all in all it didn't seem that much different from Gingerbread afterall. I miss the ability to put widgets on homescreen by simply longpressing, now you have to go to app drawer and search there - but I'm sure I will get used to it in time. I like the new setup of settings menu though.
But my message to the development team and everybody else who helps them: Good luck and thank you! I will continue "thanking" your posts in the dev topic. We are lucky to have active CyanogenMod developers on our rather not-so-good and not-so-popular phone, and good developers too - Phiexz and Maclaw as the main men, but also others. Kudos.
Im dreaming about 3.0.8 kernel (or new) on ics 4.0.3 on Gio
If i get a new sms the phone wont viberate..
I have the silent profiel turned on but still normally i would hear the viberating sound getting a new message. This is a bit anoying cose often i have to react right away.
Any one know how to turn on the viberating?
Hi,
I installed beta3.
I can't download s2e from the market. Is any version that works with cm9?
Thanks
The betta 3 is a lot better alread. Things that dont work for me atm are: Camara (I did try other cammera apss to. No succes) The foto galary app will crash (I only have like 280 fotos. Kids there fun)
Playing movies (Xvid/divx) and mp3 does not really work well.
Thats it for no.. Got to work again.
Why Spam?
Just help Dev friends. Your support would encourge them to work hard on softwares. Sorry for bad bad english
There is a discussion in CM9 development topic about bootlogos. Am I the only one who doesn't care about it? I've disabled it anyway for faster booting. Why is bootlogo so important for some? For all I care it could be a steaming dog turd, it doesn't matter

Weekly ICS ROM Updates

Hi all,
I am going through all the threads that have ics based roms for our phone and thought it might be a good idea if we had a communal collation of all ics roms that are active in this forum with provided chainlogs and small reviews of said rom and what issues they have.
Reason for this is simple, to help other users that are not confident in flashing up to 4.0.3 unaware that they may run into something that they did not bargain for.. Hopefully this way we
A) Get a general run down each week as to what rom is working well which are not.
B) Issues/bugs.
C) Reviews of what works and not.
D) Temp fixable issues ie: auto rotation.
E) May help in less clutter in actual development thread.
I thought I would put this out see if anyone agrees here. I am more than welcome that if we use this thread as a starting point.
In no way shape or form that this thread will be used as a means of competitiveness between devs, to start flaming in any sort of fashion, this is purely a thread designed to help everyone with ics progression where its at, what dev's are up too and which would be safe to flash and what is not and is for experimental use.
Hopefully this could be a useful thread, with the dev's permission in doing this of course
Cheers.
I like the idea
+1 to this idea!!
There are already Q&A threads for each of the ROM's. Why make the board more cluttered than it already is by re-posting what is already in those threads?
People need to learn to use the search function and stop being lazy and actually take the time to read a thread every now and then. A thread like this will do nothing but enable the lazy to be even less productive and will not help. You will just see the same questions asked here over and over and over and over and over just like in all the other threads.
Also if people would read a damn OP like they are supposed to before flashing a ROM they would already know what does and doesn't work and if the ROM is a RC or experimental.
+1

Valued response, and yes using the search tool does help, but. rather than searching for what is needed why don't we have one thread to sum up on all progression? This thread is not designed to have countless questions all this is to gather weekly updates on ics roms from there respected developer. If someone wanted to ask questions they should be directed to the respected Q&A thread as they have there own. If someone wishes to choose to read up on what is happening in the world of ics t989 development then they come here nothing more nothing less.
As this wouldn't be hard to do at every week commencing someone can be anyone can choose to post up any sort of update to any rom and that is valid for that week only... then make up another thread so for example this one wouldn't spiral out of control and inform a mod to delete or close thread... simple that way it would stay fresh relevant with what we want to know, and of course anyone can participate in this.
Again thanks for your input, I'm not saying this is what we should be doing but a suggestion to everyone and see if this would make life a little easier on some. Alternatively if you don't like it then don't post anything worth mentioning and leave for people who could benefit from it
Cheers.

To replace my battery and my camera since it force closes, I use QuickPic as my gallery and Camera zoom FX Pro as my camera. They work pretty well with some minor set backs.
Echo?
Are there any ICS ROMs that do not have an echo????
It seems to be an issue with the flashing process as far as echo goes...easy does it, my DD has no echo...actually while many people have reported that among other bugs the only one I have is the reboot hang...which really...tough **** I have to hold the power button down the few times I need to turn it off lol. Oddly though it does not hang if I reboot into recovery from rom manager.
Ics is really weird...everyone is getting different bugs following the same install process. I'm guessing some of our devices are more willing to adapt to the skyrocket kernel than others...

Guess you got the one with the magic bean.
Well before I went on vacation Tuesday I was playing around with a few of the different ics that are there for tmo gs2 and found that a lot of issues went away when I unmounted the SD card. The camera had no problem and I didn't notice any echoed sound. Kind of strange but one thing I noticed that a lot of native ics devices don't have external SD cards. Might be something for devs to look at.

RE: Task & Ktoonsez 4.2.1 ROM...
I...absolutely...adore...this ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684
But it's uber buggy.
I definitely understand that you're going to have bugs in a cutting edge ROM. I just wonder what the status of this ROM's development is and there's no way I could go through the seventeen thousand plus replies on the ROM's thread.
2 things:
1 - Is there any way to fix the messaging issues (it says nothing ever sends when it does), the unlock screen issues (I have it set to not have to hit enter to unlock but I have to anyway) or any of the other things this ROM does? Is there an update in the works?
2 - If there's not a way to fix these things, is there another 4.2.1 ROM out there that is less buggy yet?
I desperately want to run this ROM as a daily ROM!! The lock screen widgets, the camera, the stock messenger amongst other things...it's just so GOOD!
Any help, info and/or words of wisdom would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Considering that this ROM just got released two days ago, you're not going to have to read through 17k replies. Maybe the last 15 pages or at least from the date of the release and all your questions will be answered. Probably within the first few pages that you read.

Dude, you have about 2-3 small bugs to complain about and you think you can't run this as a daily ROM? Come on, if you care that much about being bug-free then you should probably just stick with the Stock ROM.
or you could read the change log in the op
1 - Hey...as long as they are WORKING on the ROM still, I'm good. I'll keep checking for updates for sure. Can't wait!
2 - I knew someone would give me the "well...this is so new, you're stupid to ***** about it" reply. Knew it was coming and thank you for that MDX. I KNOW it's new. I KNOW it's going to have bugs. And, a partially functioning messaging app is anything but a "small bug." That's why I said, and I quote, "I definitely understand that you're going to have bugs in a cutting edge ROM." The whole purpose of this post was to find out if there are ways *I* could fix the things that are screwed up and/or help any and, if not, if there was another, similar, better ROM. Only n00bs run stock. I'm definitely not n00b.
3 - Thanks for the clarification, AJJ. I thought it was a new thread for the ROM and was actually like...what the ****!? How does this have so many replies!!?? I'll check that out. Thanks again.
Thanks everyone!!
Yeah...cause you cant text, or receive texts at all on the ROM...and nothing on the lock screen works**end sarcasm**....try cm10.1...only other 4.2.x rom out there...otherwise, this has already been covered ad nauseum in the Dev thread...

AOSP Rom suggestions for functional Bluetooth

Hi,
Apologies if this thread is uncalled for - I googled hard, searched these forums hard, and couldn't arrive at anything. I am looking for a non TW ROM that fully supports Bluetooth (with car stereos for calling and streaming audio). I have been using Omega (45). It works perfectly with my car. While I love this ROM, I hate laggy TW. I have tried cleaning cache, factory reset etc multiple times, but my phone slows down to almost "freeze" levels in a few weeks.
I have tried Paranoid Android, but Bluetooth is broken on it.
Can you guys suggest an AOSP rom where bluetooth is not broken?
Thanks
TW roms laggy and slowing down? That's an issue not dealing with rom. Sounds like bad data or bad apps.

Sorry, but they are.
I FORMATTED my SD, and ext-SD, reinstalled Omega - and guess what?? It is Sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!!!
In the entire process, I even lost my latest call-log backup accidentally (forgot to backup the last time)
Anyhow, if you don't have anything to add, please refrain from these stupid condescending suggestions. I wanted recommendations on a non TW rom (or maybe a fast TW rom). Your suggestion didn't help at all. It is really RTFMers like you, who have caused the max amount of damage to the open-source community in general.
Omega is not a sprint rom. You are in the wrong section.
And next time, show some respect for people who take their time to try to help you. In no way did his tone get condescending, and in the end, you're the one with the problem that needs fixing, not him.
Have a nice day.
Cnexus thank you. To OP laggy and slowing down means there's a ram leak. Not necessarily the rom. Obviously your in the wrong forum. As Cnexus pointed out that there is no Omega for the Sprint S3.

update..now see witch keyboard is installed threw settings/apps....it is android keyboard..could request that android keyboard come with diff themed options i really like the shafta google keyboards, but cant install if google keyboard allready exsists, and i dont wanna mess with freezeing/uninstalling system apps
any lovin for the t705??
we uad some advancements but got stuck at the lte implementation.
could be due to the 4g/3g intel chip samdung used for its exynos chip.....
i feel so cheated out of my snapdragon 801.....
Am uploading a newer build that should be much cleaner and ironed out.
As far as other devices... I am not a developer, so bug fixing etc is currently beyond me... However, if there is a CM port for the device, I can probably port Bliss for that device, but all the shortcomings of the CM rom will exist in Bliss as well.. Either way, I will see what I can do after I make sure T700 is running smoothly.
New build is up.

Thank you for your hard work providing this rom! just couldn't stand the stutter of touchwiz.
one thing I desperately miss is the color calibration though.
I can't find the option in settings. could somebody please point it out to me?
another thing I noticed is that the tablet runs smoother when plugged in. when I pull the plug I have a tiny bit of stutter. Do you have any suggestions how to fix this?
Screen Locks automatically and frequently
Hi Jewnersy,
I appreciate your efforts in creating the Bliss Rom for Samsung Tab S (T700). I have been using the rom from the last two releases. I love the settings and customizations provided in the Rom . I observed one small issue in the latest build. I am using a Flipcover cover for my Tab. When I close the cover, screen goes off which is fine. But When I open the cover am able to the see the lock screen, but not able to unlock the screen by swiping the lock icon to right side. After swiping it to right side, screen suddenly locks again. After giving trails for 10 - 15 times, am able to unlock the device. While watching movies also screen locking unexpectedly. Please help me in getting a solution for the issue. Thanks again for your response & support in advance.

Don't think there are any color options built in to the rom unfortunately. Regarding stuttering.. I'm not sure I'm having that issue. The latest rom had been smooth as butter for me... Interactive governor, cfq, Westwood.
Dynamic status bar will cause constant stutter. Use the xposed mod discussed in thread as an alternative

I noticed a flip cover quirk as well. Will investigate tomorrow and grab some other fixes from other folks.
WiFi is not turning on with the latest (12/15) build of the Bliss Stalk ROM for the SM-T800.
For some truly asinine reason XDA is forcing this reply into a separate Q&A thread (where it will undoubtedly go unnoticed by the developer of this ROM) just because I have fewer than 10 posts.
This post is INTENDED to be a reply to this post:

Again, I apologize for this reply not appearing in the correct location - blame XDA or whomever thought it would be a good idea to force all replies by new users into a totally separate thread.

Feel free to ignore this particular post, I'm going to post a bunch of B.S. until I can get my total post count over the 10 post threshold so that I can actually post bug reports in the proper thread.

Wow I tested too! I posted in the rom thread. If your reporting bugs then it's OK to post in the rom thread. q and a stuff goes here about the thread. It's just to remind you to ask questions here. I'm surprised Ui lag is gone! Once you make more than 100 posts then there's no limit on posts.

I TRIED to post in the ROM thread by clicking the "reply" button on post #89, but received an error message stating the developer has decided that all posts from users with less than 10 posts should be moved to a separate Q&A thread. Such a decision makes it impossible to actually submit bugs...

Lol. After a few posts you can post there. Did you try the camera and see if it works? I forgot to check that.

not my decision, but rather the forums.
ANYWAYS, did you try without the kernel or with the kernel?

I switched back to the 11/27 build due to wifi not working on the 12/15 build. The camera doesn't work on 11/27, but the developer is already aware of that issue. Give me a few min and I'll re-flash the 12/15 build and check the camera.

let me know if you are using the 'skyhigh' kernel or not...
basically need to know if wifi is broken with and without kernel
as well as camera under both conditions,

I tried just the ROM w/o flashing the SkyHigh kernel - wifi still wouldn't turn on. My apologies on my rant concerning the 10 post minimum, the "error" message made it sound like it was your decision -- sorry!
