I tried applying a new update so everything would erase but it wont work and it wont let me reboot because i dont have the os installed. I use kindle fire utility like most do and i found a thread that said to try and type somthings into the cmd type thing from tools by shift and right clicking and everything i found and was told to push did not work please please help
Another user here just had a situation just like yours. Take a look at the thread and get a pretty good idea of what options you have.

I looked through what you told me to and i dont have linux and ive tried using commands such as you were talking about before it just says they are not reconized...and im not stuff in a logo or anything i can interact with twrp and all but whenever i try and do somthing major it tells me i dont have an os? to do so..... And i am only 14 so i only know so much
Personally, I think you should ditch Windows and only use Linux (it's free) when fixing/modifying the KF.
Set up a Linux LiveUSB and run the SoupKit and you'll be well on your way to fixing your problem, mostly touble free.

If you can access TWRP, can you use the mount function to mount your sdcard?

Have you even tried to install a different ROM?

I am sorry i am very bad at this it was some stupid jelly bean thing
O_O
I am trying to install some stupid jelly bean thing now but i jsut want to make my kindle go back to normal....and i put the .zip file into the kindle sdcard and then i unmount it and then i do all the clearing of data and stuff then i use the .zip it worked but then it got stuck on verifing and stuff idk if its suposed to do that..... but then i just rebooted
I know how it is too be bad at this, I used to be pretty bad at this too. (Like 3-4 months ago.) So it was Jellybean? One question, does your bootloader work? If so, it's FireFireFire, correct?
EDIT: You posted as I was writing I see, Well, from my expirence in installing ROMS it shouldn't be hanging on Verifying. I beilive if it is it's because of a md5 check or signature (Correct me if I'm wrong) or another reason not known too me. So here is how you'd Install a ROM, Factory Reset - Wipe Cache - Wipe Dalvik/Cache - Install - Select ROMNAME.zip - Swipe to Confirm Finish -Wipe Cache/Dalvik - Reboot Device I hope this helps you.
So how's it coming along with that video?

First of all, I am sorry for posting this here, but I am kind of in a bind, and hope someone can help me out..
EVO, rooted with new unrevoked, running stock everything, on a mac
I downloaded and installed LCD Density Changer today, and changed my number form 240 to 200, as everyone suggested.
When I rebooted, my boot screen started, but then the display went blank, and I keep hearing the Sprint music, but the phone's display wont come up..
I can get into recovery mode, so I am thinking of just doing a wipe data/factory reset, and starting all over, which wont be a problem, since I am all backed up.
someone suggested doing an ADB push, but I am on a mac, and cant find detailed instructions on how to do that..
Can someone give me a idea on which way to go?
I am fine with wiping data/factory reset, if it gets my phone started again..
Again, sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, but I know there are some great people here that will give me some direction
thanks so much!
i don't know what this has to do with development... but restore the backup that you made before you did the patch. didn't backup? wipe.
yup... no back up... shame on you..
your only choice is to wipe.
i dont know why people use this app, just edit the build.prop file yourself with rootexplorer or what ever app you have that can browse and edit the phones files.
Depending on what ROM you're running, you may also have to option of simply flashing it again without wiping. This would revert your build.prop and keep your installed apps and settings provided the updater-script in the ROM doesn't format /data/. I would try this before you go all out and wipe everything.
I really recommend you get ADB set up.
good news; got it to work with a zip file that a great member of this board gave to to flash; sorry if this post was placed in the wrong spot, and mods you are welcome to delete /lock it now..
BTW, doing a nandroid backup IMMEDIATELY!
you guys are the best, and SHAME on me for not doing that the minute I was rooted...

I am rooted and have twrp, and the android market installed. I would like to go back to bone stock.
I can just reset the KF under device right? How do I uninstall twrp?
Thanks
No thats incorrect you dont just reset the device you must wipe well and flash stock I must tell you numerous people are bricking themselves fairly bad attempting to do the same personally I would avoid it just flash modaco instead other than that the method to return to stock is in the second post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638452
And actually it might even be a safer approach to revert to stock from a stock like rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916

These are wise words indeed. Installed Twrp and MiUI ics rom and played with it but gave up after day or so and was headed back to stock... battery was/is apparently too low AND I keep getting 2 force close errors for (right after boot) ...
-android.process.acore
-process.android.providers.calendar
(happens right after the UI starts loading ... if Im quick enough I can get one of the homescreen apps to load, but I notice the settings menu item or none of the software buttons for home, etc are there
... then after I click the force close button it just starts to boot again... not enough time to try to get twrp back on to handle boot so I can wipe and try to flash update.zip (the fires stock rom).
Oh well, its only 200.00 and I'll be getting another one I guess. glad it was with this and NOT one of my smartphones I tinker with from time to time. lesson learned about playing with rom flashing when battery is low I guess.

Even if you want to go back to pure stock, keeping/reinstalling both TWRP and FFF are the safest and smartest things to do.

The only mention of ADB is "adb push C:\kfu\software\update-kindle-6.3.1_D01E_4107720.bin /sdcard/update.zip", which you can easily avoid if you don't want to touch ADB.
Just rename your downloaded file to update.zip (watch out for the file extension, Windows hides most of them on default settings), then just copy it into your KF like you do any other file. Do not place it in any subfolder.
Be sure to follow the steps carefully, or else you may end up with a soft brick (fixable).

I have the same problem, but my battery was 100% when flashing back. Is this good night for the kindle then?
It boots in to the 6.2.2 software, but these errors pop up and force close then eventually does a restart. Dammit!

No, that's not all you should do to get back to stock... follow ALL the STEPS. Wiping is VERY important. Ie, don't just rename the file to update.zip and flash it right away, or you'll most likely end up with a soft brick. I was only clarifying that one specific step.

Just a side note after restoring to stock you need to then perform a factory restore as well which will wipe your sd card if all goes well it should smooth out from there

Flashing back to stock will undo anything you've ever done or had on the device, except for the contents of /sdcard (the stuff you've copied to it from the computer).

So what you're saying is that I have to flash a new kernel? If so, that's too complicated... I only rooted because I wanted to remove the bloatware stuff and leave everything else untouched. I'm kind of regretting it now.
Has anyone figured out a way to unroot and lock the bootloader again for the M8?
I understand - you're pretty new to this device and maybe to HTC's write protection they invented last year. That's ok mate.
With TWRP installed it's a very simple thing to flash the new kernel. Did you already do some flashing on these devices? I think it's more complicated to get root the first time than flashing a zip from TWRP. :good:
Anyway I'll help you there. Simply download Flars kernel and copy the zip-file to your internal SD-card. Boot into TWRP and choose the install option. Navigate to your internal SD and select that zip file. Start flashing and choose simply the defaults you get offered by the aroma installer. Finish, reboot and the write protection is gone. TB will work as always.

Thanks a trillion. But this thing was bugging me, so I said to hell with it and just installed the GPE RUU. How I don't have to deal with any of that nonsense since none of the bloat apps are installed in the first place. Now I just have to figure out how to reinstall TWRP and root again... This stuff seems a lot more complicated then just using ODIN on Samsung devices, at least for the time being while I'm still so new HTC stuff.
worked.
I'm using HTC since a couple of years and bought a S4 Mini for my daughter last year. Last week my sister stepped in with her Sony device. Don't ask how long it took me to understand and root these devices... lol.
If you need to know sth about HTC devices simply step in and pm me. But I think you'll be soon familiar with the differences! :good:

Boot into fastboot and type "fastboot erase cache" then flash the recovery.
Try it with both CWM and TWRP.

It may or may not. Or if it flashes, you might not be able to mount any data partitions or cache.
Try connecting to a PC, and formatting the internal storage with Device Manager.

Thanks for your help. You answered many of my questions and were very patient with my questions. I regret to say though that my phone is now bricked. Only bootloader will show up, recovery is a black screen and so is bootup. This wouldn't be so bad if my /data is still corrupted after everthing i tried and no computer will recognize my device. I will come back to xda when I actually know what I'm doing and when my phone isn't as valuable. Thanks again for all your help.
Not sure if this is a similar issue or not but I had some issues getting into recovery after doing Sunshine S-Off today. Had TWRP installed and working fine, but after doing the s-off exploit I would see the recovery screen for a split second before the phone would reboot normally again.
Even running fastboot boot recovery.img to run it directly wasn't working.
However, downloaded and installed CWM instead and all is fine again. Phew

Its not bricked if the screen comes on. I sincerely think we can get this thing back up and running. A phone that doesn't work isn't "valuable" so you might as well keep at it.
Delete all HTC drivers, and connect the phone to a PC. Go to Device Manager, select the option to manually select drivers, and select the generic Android MTP device.

Looks like you solved it. But did you mean you were going to replace the phone? That shouldn't ever be necessary just due to software mods you did, as long as the screen comes on. I've seen only one exception so far, where several users here helped the user exhaust every possible fix to the memory not being mountable and nothing worked, and it might have been a fried emmc chip or similar hardware fault. In your case, I still had plenty of hope, as there were still several options that were not tried.

No OS is a known issue for some folks on TWRP. It is puzzling, since it only seem to affect some people. TWRP was pretty rock solid and reliable on my past device, so its a bit disheartening to see it appears to be considerably more buggy on the M8.
So is the phone fully up and running, no issues mounting memory?

I can still have TWRP on the phone, but (I don't know how) partition is coded, even if I put my 4 digits unlocking code (information is: wrong code).
Is there any way to make my phone live? using usb otg can help here?
Please help me and sorry for my language - I don't know this technical words...
If this is wrong place to posat this question, please let me know as well.
You should ask your question in the thread of the ROM you installed.

ok man. your phone is encrypted, bicoz that u see ur partition "kfIengEOgfmkeigm3" like that; doesnt matter;
that method will delete all your data from internal storage
1. Boot to Twrp Recovery
2. Do a Factory Reset
3.WIpe everithing
4. Reboot to Recovery Again and copy Rom,gapps, etc

Including internal storage, I will not have access to the rom
So you should format everything instead of just wipe
And use the newest version of TWRP (for me it changed much)
and then install ROM from OTG pen

Currently I'm waiting for OtG, I will let you know of results.
your encryption of your data(internal storage) is corrupted. only way to solve it is factory reset where it will erase data and internal storage. either way your data is long gone.
i have bricked many of my phones cause of encryption. nothing could save it(had all my data got messed up.)

) man, ...everithing u must delete from your device; idk if installing from sideload or otg are real solution (try them before doing final alternative), but if thats doesnt work u must wipe EVERITHING. My advice for u is to factory reset and wipe everithing if otg and sideload doesnt work... i wanted to help u with an opinion about otg or sideload, but i dont know nothing about thats...search in XDA and see if another persons had this problem... myself i had that, but i deleted everithing unfortunately.... good luck and dont be scarr...that problem have solution

OK. After wiping data, phone started working (with some bugs...) , but still have problem with coding data in TWRP - access code to the phone doesn't work. But as I said - phone works, I'm on nightly lineageos which was put to the phone few days ago. Currently I have problem with refreshing new OS, putting new version, without errors.

only format data and caches. no need to touch vendor boot system etc.
be sure to use "format data" where it will ask you to confirm by typing yes
