S-off root - HTC One X

Could someone link me to an easy s-off root. It's not for me, I'm rooting a friends phone. I have a evo lte and an evo shift and I know how to root. I'm just lazy and don't want to spend 10000 hours with his phone hooked up to computer. And please don't troll me with the "use your search" never works for me. Just a link is all I ask. Thank you in advance!

Get a life people! Its not the end of the world when someone asks a question. Just politely answer or move on. Or is this your world?

You people surprise me.
To answer the questions... as there may be some terminology mix up here.
S-Off: Not yet
Root: Yes after HTC-Dev unlock. No exploit to avoid using HTC-Dev.

I earned 3/4 of my thanks helping people with either Epic, Epic Touch, NS4G, or GNex and I am scared as hell to unlock and root my One X. I paid someone $25 to link to my laptop with TeamViewer and handle it for me on my EVO LTE. I may do the same again if someone is down. Everything is so different.

It isn't that bad. It is pretty much impossible to brick this thing since we have S-On yet and people aren't running around flashing bootloaders on low battery and other stuff.
All it is literally is getting the oem token from fastboot, pasting it into the htc dev website, then flashing the bin file they give you. It does format /data (factory reset) on the device once you accept the agreement that shows on the device but you are then unlocked. All you have to do then is flash cwm and install supersu/superuser zip.
If you need additional help, feel free to PM me. I am drinking tonight so I may not reply immediately just an fyi .

Root after Ota?

I have s off and I'm rooted in stock rom with cwm installed. Will accepting the ota get rid of root? S off? Will I be able to root afterwards if it does?
Sent from Bangdrum's phone.
Yes it will get rid of root...and you will not be able to root again most likely for a while. Stay where you are and wait for the upgraded Rom to be rooted and packaged for you to flash

Does anyone know where the ota downloads to? I can root it so people who have s-off can flash it, but not sure where it is downloading to. Checked in cache and its not going there.

Nevermind, it self destructs if you cancel the update. How to get the zip, hmmm.
does the new update add much if i already have CM7 installed, or do i need to goto stock eventually, flash the new radios and stuff then go back to CM7? Kinda new to this and just trying to get everything right, thanks
Rmk40 just posted a Rom over in the development section that is pretty much the ota minus the bloat
Carelessly swyped on my phone so there may be some weird typos

I'm not one to bash on people either but I agree this guy could have ruined it for everyone. Thankfully alpha kept a better standard. Software root came quicker than it did for the DInc1 and the Inc2 WAS the most locked down phone known to Verizon. Impressive to say the least. Also credit to Raskal and XTC clip as he did need hardware. but I bet the guy could make software root, just makes more money on the clip lol. can't blame him though, it is worth it if it's the only option. IMO

How exactly could he have ruined it for everyone by saying he didnt think root would be achieved? You think Alpha woulda gave up their attemtps in annoyance because he was the one naysayer? get real. people are entitled to their opinions and he disagreed and when perm root was achieved he mentioned how embarrassed he felt in multiple treads. I think he has been humiliated enough and we should all move on to enjoying root now...

One click root?

Just wondering if there is a one click root for the Desire Z yet. I have the version from singapoore. Thanks.
From what I have seen, there is no definite one-click root solution as of now. Don't bet on this though, as I am not completely sure. The tutorial for gfree is easy though, just a little bit of typing.
BTW, this belongs in the Q&A section (for future reference).
Just use the rage/gfree tutorial found on the CyanogenMod Wiki and stay away from Visionary.
And for future reference, threads like these go in Q&A.
It seems like the closes to one click would be Lyriquidperfection's AMT thing for Windows. From thread posts it seems like it works.

Read some topics...
Many people have gone before you, do not disrespect them by not reading. If you do not read, you will awaken the XDA developers G2/Vision curse on your phone! It will never work again and you will always be stuck on STOCK!!!!
What everybody else said. It took me two full weeks of reading these boards before I felt comfortable enough to root my G2. Just search and read and read and read. Eventually you will get to a point where rooting is as easy as riding a bike. Good luck!

Take the OTA. Should root it and give you admin powers to all the worlds nukes. :-D lmao! geeze. there isn't even a reason to use the search. the answer is right on the main pages!
BUT really. not joking about the OTA. just wait a few weeks. Sure HTC will submit an update for sprint to send to us. oh wait, sprint would NEVER let us have that update. haha they would make sure we couldn't root it. Well, search temp root for the evo.

Look man, I usually don't post replies like this but seriously this question if getting annoying. Look at this point there is no ROOT for this OTA that also includes a temp root....its really right in your face and plastered all over this forum. If you just checked Q&A section or even General section you would find it. Or even if you searched this forum itself you would have seen people like yourself post the same exact question.
HTC will be adding magical powers to the next OTA update. :-D
HOWEVER, WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET HTC-signed files. BOOM ROOTED!
There is no Easter Bunny, over there that's just a guy in a suit!

If the microwave on trick doesnt work you can always try what I did to get S-Off.
Simply climb a telephone poll and plug your phone directly into the power line. Once you do that you need to flap your arms six times and screem "I'm a pretty birdy" as loud as you can so thst the voice to text on your phone can pick it up. Once you do that unplug your phone and you will have s-off.

Stuck up on telephone pole after ladder fell down.. Did what you said and still no s/off. I even tried yelling before flapping my wings, after flapping my wings and while flapping my wings. I think I may have been tricked.... You're a ****.
Go to radio shack and get cool with the service guys. Have them call u when someone swaps a evo with 2.2 for for evo3d. Then swap your phone with there's. If it means anything to u really to be rooted get a 2.2 evo off Craigslist and then sell your evo back on it. Sprint wont be allowing no more unlocked devices if its up to them. They not stupid, I'm sure the techs troll these type websites. When the next firmware update arrives they gonna do it again. If it means that much take it upon ya self to get a rooted device or 2.2 evo. At this point late in the game you gotta pay to play.

To achieve root with the latest OTA simply shove the EVO in your anal canal. This will confuse the phone and force it to root unrevoked style. Once you relieve yourself of the anal obstruction you will be fully rooted. Try it and see!

Flash galaxy nexus GSM with JB

Hi!
I want to flash my brothers Nexus to JB.
I found this link where its step to step guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170
Problem is that I don't know if the GN has a locked or unlocked bootloader as stock?
I guess it's the method 2 i should use if the phone is all stock with unlocked bootloader?
If its locked bootloader how can i unlock the bootloader?
Thanks for all help on beforehand!
Best regards,
DanVazz
since you can write in proper English, one can assume that you can read as well, did you try searching before posting this? its very simple go get the nexus toolkit here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310 << then to check if you have a locked or unlocked bootloader, restart the phone, if you see a black screen with just GOOGLE written on it, your bootloader is locked. If you see a black screen with google and a white lock on the bottom it is unlocked. GOod luck with your flashing

Don't recommend toolkits. OP already has the right link to flash JB, and just needs to follow the steps.
OP, just read and follow the guide. The phone does not have an unlocked bootloader stock. Unless you've unlocked it, it is still locked and you'll unlock before you can flash. Although the kit notes it several times, remember that the procedure will completely wipe your device.

That's you opinion, and I respect that. But if you want to drive a car, you take lessons and get licensed. If you want to own an Android smart phone, there are no lessons and no license. So, if you want to muck around with your phone, you need to have a bit of knowledge about how it works so you can help yourself out of messes, whether you're a dev or not (and I am not). So yes, this is 101. And besides, this is xda-developers.com not xda-fixmybrokendevice.com: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2031989&postcount=45

If you desperately want to root and your phone doesnt have any hardware issues do it now. But your warranty will be void by using HTCDev. If you can wait and I would, wait until we get S-OFF then you can do it without HTC knowing.

ahh never say never, im sure the devs or alpharev or somebody will break it somehow!!
I had the same dilemma.
Finally I've unlocked, and rooted, because I'm very impatient.
I think if/when we will have S-OFF, then we will be able, to revert it to "LOCKED" (and not RELOCKED), and we will be able, to erase any trace of hacking/moddding. Then they will have no ground to void the warranty.
To root, or not to root, that is the question.

I thought that once you use HTC's official process they have it logged on their system, as they give you an individual token for your device? Is this something that could be removed? I always thought that once you cross that line there's no going back as they must store it on a server somewhere.
Anyhow I'm teetering closer and closer to using htcdev.com but always end up telling myself to wait another few days......been watching that s-off development thread like a hawk.
I used htc dev to unlock it and never locked back.
It's much smoother with ROMs like ARHD which means a better user experience to me. Stock didn't really satisfy me, because Sense lacked from time to time

think ill wait a while see if any ugly issues show up on the phone, i mean i didnt root my desire for a whole year, ( cus i did not know of its existence!!)
but hopefully with s-off we can go back to stock without htc knowing!!

yes, maybe they loggint, that you ask for the token.
but I think that doesn't mean that you used it. you can change your mind after you received it, or you can be noob, and you can't use it...
so it would be very bizarre, that they void the warranty because on some website you ask for a tool.
(if you have a gun in your hand, it doesn't mean you are a killer)
Was in the same boat as yourself. But rooted anyway and haven't looked back. Thank god I don't have to deal with Sense anymore.
i waited so much time... one week ago i said stop and i unlocked/rooted and installed cm10 much better!
