Finally got my One X back! - HTC One X

After 2 months of failed insurance jobs I have finally got my one x back.
I paid £130 for a replacement lcd screen and digitizer to be fitted.
After 2 months away from the modding scene I would like to know which JB ROMs are most suitable for use as a daily driver?
Stability and battery life are a must.
Cheers in advance.:good:

Try the 2.17 OTA? It's Android 4.0.4, Sense 4.1. You might be impressed.
I'm still waiting for it.

Non of them, then. There are issues with all of them in varying degrees, won't be 100% until we have HTC source files for JB

Thanks. I do not wish to go through the process of relocking the bootloader etc though so this option is out I'm afraid. thanks for the input though.

That's a shame was really looking forward to trying one. How bad are the "issues"?

Hmm, about the same hassle as installing a custom ROM? Maybe less?
Anyway, I hear battery life is not great compared to official 2.17 kernel.

that easy? A link to a guide would be much appreciated.

fastboot oem lock
Plug phone into Windows machine
Double click RUU
I was always under the impression you had to restore stock recovery (like OTA), but I think I have heard otherwise. Still, that's just
fastboot flash recovery signed_recovery.img
Before the relock.
Of course, you may then want to install CWM and root the thing afterwards, so you can restore your backup with titanium. Ok a bit more tricky, but you need to get fastboot up and running anyway for your boot.img of the new ROM.

[Q] Warranty question

Hi
I have a question before sending my HTC back for the wifi repair to HTC.
If I make a nandroid backup of my existing custom rom, then unroot the phone, when I reroot the phone once i get it back, can I simply use the nandroid backup I had made to restore everything once I have re-rooted?
Thanks

Yep, ofcourse you can.
To be honest you need to re-lock your bootloader also.
And hopefully your lucky enough to be one of the people that gets a warranty fix even though your unlocked and rooted.
As many people get turned away.

Ok, thanks, its worth a try
I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom and also have the boot.img for the stock rom. I assume that if I flash these 2 first and then lock the bootloader? Is that correct?
if it is correct - is it simple to lock the bootloader?

Hi, yeah thats correct mate.
Easiest way is to flash the correct RUU for you phone. Im sorry but I don't know how to get the correct RUU perhaps someone else could help.
What I do know is that you can never fully "lock" the bootloader again, it will say "Re-Locked" and not "Locked" all you can do is hope they do not check the bootloader.
Hope this helps

If they check it and see it says relocked and then refuse to repair it is the same as me leaving it unlocked?? So i may as well leave it as it is?
Thanks

Definately, if they boot the phone and see CWM, TWRP, Titanium, SuperSU/SuperUSer they'll know straight away you are rooted.
Remove anything you possibly can that will identify a rooted unit.

Using their repair tracking page, the current status is "in repair" so it's looking good. The status just changed an hour ago though so there's still plenty of time for them to call with bad news.

Warranty VOID?
I needed to send my phone in, but I don't have the sticker on the back, or the box, and there's no way for me to get to the settings on the phone, because the screen stopped working.
Will HTC still be able to service my phone, or is the warranty considered void?

HTC repair is bull**** just for the record. I have 4G Slides on the rest of my lines, ALL of which had to be sent in.
2 of those phones took nearly 45 [FORTY FIVE] days to get back to me. Apparently there was a hold for parts coming in from Taiwan. They wouldn't tell me which parts. They wouldn't even give me an estimate time. HTC didn't apologize or update me on my repair. I found all this out after numerous calls day after day.
But if you thought that was bad service, you'll love this...
The third phone was sent out and came back fairly quickly. Within a week. I was so happy to get my phone back.
Opened the box and GUESS WHAT?
HTC SENT ME THE WRONG PHONE
They sent me a completely different phone for a different carrier (HTC Evo 4G for Sprint). It was very beat up as well.
I swear, if it wasn't for their designs (which I love dearly) I would've dropped the company by now...
Sorry for the rant/threadjack. Thought you guys would like to hear a horror story. I'm done
does anyone know how to remove the super su app and the clockwork recovery? everything else is now back to stock as i did a nandroid back up immediately after rooting initially
thanks

Wp ROM?

Hey guys,
I wanted to ask you for your opinion. Will there ever be wp7 or wp8 based ROM (windows phone)?
I love that UI, but I love my HOX to and don't want to spend money on another phone. So what do you think?
no, closest you can get is a windows phone launcher

that's difficult, but the biggest problem is to avoid the registration code, cause WPs has a kind of product key so we can't port anything without it
You will need a custom bootloader in order to load other operating systems on a phone.
This means a customized HBOOT. Sadly, we don't have S-OFF for the One X so a custom bootloader isn't possible to begin with.
That, and you just don't program a custom bootloader within a couple of weeks time.
Simple answer: hell no.

If you want to upgrade to kernel 3.1 with OTA, you have options.
You can unlock and just upgrade kernel.
You can.install a custom ROM and upgraded kernel.
You can try to install a JB ROM and kernel, this requires CID__621, or an European unbranded phone.
To go back to stock, don't upgrade the hboot, which rules out the last option. Even then, the bootloader will say relocked vs locked.

HTC One X G-sensors not working all of a sudden!

Hey guys... My friend bought an HTC One X second hand. It is rooted with what seems to be stock 4.0.3 Sense 4.0. The phone is also S-OFF and everything.. I will post pictures of it.
So here's the deal:
My friend was watching a movie but suddenly he felt as if the screen wasn't rotating... Now (According to AndroSensor App) the magnetic field, orientation, gyroscope, accelerometer etc... In short.. All of the GRAVITY SENSORS and the orientation sensors aren't working.. They are DETECTED by the app but say "Waiting for event"
tried hard resetting and everything. I have put many Custom ROMs in phones before. So i can flash ROMs etc if i have to
I have attached the pictures about everything and need help.. Alot appreciated thanks.

Go to settings and check for an update. What we all recommend is that you send it to HTC, all untampered One Xs should still be in warranty, so send it to them, if it can't be fixed they'll send you a One X or a One X+, or sometimes they could send a HTC One if you're lucky :/

Oh i'll get right on it when i get my hands on the device can i request you to stay put to this thread? Cuz i will report back here
if you flash a custom recovery you can do anything you want, ie flash a rom, sense or no sense, or flash back to stock and because you are s-off you can even change your cid to install an update from a different region.
this can go on and on and people are starting to repeat themselves and you have had all the information you need to move forward. so what you need to do, as you say you cannot fix under warranty, is :- let the phone update via ota, this will update everything including the rom, the version of sense and the hboot. then once it is finished with all ota's available you can install a custom recovery( I recommend philz touch recovery or the latest twrp) and then you can flash all the rom's or mods you like.
and if you find you still have a problem with sensors check @HTC Venom signature for a possible solution

working fine uptil now, i dont have restarted or powered off after that. so dont know if they will keep working after restart or again same problem will occur
all the people having same problem, just keep on trying restarts, safe mode, factory reset etc etc most probably they will start working. its just hit and trial

Those guys always seem to be a step behind, when they release a version, only works with the older firmwares, for example, the version number 3 will work almost 100% with 4.4.4. But not so sure about Lollipop.
Anyway, they are doing a good job.

How can they work on an exploit without having the final build in the first place? Of course they'll be behind as they have to work on it once released. They're also the ONLY ones now actually able to S-OFF the M8 so there's no other choice
You could try nandroiding it back to previous boot and Rom, factory reset first.
I tried this but couldn't boot past the HTC one screen, but apparantly worked for someone else.

I did read, they said it will work on some devices with 5.0, not all...so there are 10% chances to work on Lollipop. Bye.
P.S. 4.4.4. is the main target of Sunshine V3.
