App to fill out google contacts info? - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

I was wondering if there is an app or neat way to fill out the missing info from your google contacts.
Example: maybe the app can use reverse phone lookup to add addresses automatically?

Couple of questions from an iPhone user

I got the desire recently and am very impressed with it, however cannot figure a couple of things
How do I add a map location to a contact? I can locate myself on the map but I don't know how to add that location to a contact.
Also, on the iPhone, I could tap on top of the screen to scroll back to the top. Can you do that with android?
Thanks

Hi I was in the same boat as you with the iPhone then jumped to the Desire. I'm not sure about the maps with contacts but in the browser if you press menu the address bar will show up at the top of your screen.
I am not sure you can add location info to a contact by an option in maps but contacts do link to maps if the address is entered in to the contact and they become navigable using google nav. Sorry if you already know this.
I think what you're describing is a feature of google latitude. Once you sign up for it, you can see the location of your friends who have latitude on your phone via google maps.

If what you want is information on the location of known persons at any time, this is a feature of Google Latitude, all you need to do is sign in and you get the position of all your known contacts (if they allow this).
If what you want is a way to navigate to the address of the contact, If you inform the address on the contact information Google Navigator will allow you to navigate to the destination.

I have not found any equivalent to this, all you can achieve is showing the nav var touching the menu buttton, but you can't scroll back to the top of the page with one single movement.
You can add businesses as contacts if they are visible on maps but if you want to add an address to a contact you will need to do that from the people app.

I thought you just had to add a postal address to their contact information. Once that's done it will give you an option to "View ... address".
Thanks for the responses. In Dubai, we have pretty bad adressing system and about the only way is to arrive at the destination and add it. That's what I used to do on the iPhone by dropping in a pin andc adding that to a contact

[Q] Contact editor

I was wondering if there is a way to edit all of the contact information similar to what is seen in the Gmail web interface? I have looked around, but haven't found anything. I know what comes standard, but is there an app that will plug into the Gmail interface directly so we can customize the labels of the numbers and address, or modify prefix/suffix information? If there isn't, would this be feasible to program, or is there no way to access the Google contacts in that way? I search the forums, but I didn't see much about contact editing.
Thank you for your help, have a great day

[Q] How to remove default app links on a rooted phone..??

Hello Frnds,
Recently I rooted my phone as I wanted to remove my stock SMS app due to missing functions as described in my previous post and also to remove the stock contact app as there is no provision to add birthday. After rooting, I removed these two apps and some of unwanted apps provided by SE. I installed new phonebook app and Handcent SMS app and I was happy unless I needed to add a new contact to my phonebook. When I click on add new contact , it showed me an error message saying application not found to handle this. When I again reinstalled the removed Contacts app back and click on add new contact from my new phonebook app, it opened the add new contact page of the Contacts app i.e. without Birthday entry. I was so annoyed to see that I landed up on the same path from where I had started.. Can anyone tell me how can I chagne the default link so that I can use the Add Contact funtion of new app Phonebook and not of the Contacts app.
Most of such replacement apps, especially messaging ones, need to work along with the corresponding default one. As far as I know, only GO SMS can work individually, but again, it's not recommended to uninstall such vital system apps because they are deeply integrated in stock ROM.

Thanks for ur reply.. But as u must know that there is not provision to add birthdate in the stock contacts app and even if I add some other app from market which has provision to add birthday and click on add new contact, it again opens the same stock contacts app's add contact page...

That last part is the third-party app's issue.
See, there are three elements in a Contacts app: the dialer, the contact list and the contact viewer.
Some apps include only the first two, thus when you open a contact, stock app (and more specifically InfiniteView) appears.
As for birthdays, if you sync your contacts with Facebook inside Xperia, you'll get them.
Or you could add a note to each contact with their birthday.

S tasks groups

Anyone know how to add groups in s task? There is an option for group but "default" is the only option.
Also, it let's me choose to add tasks to "my tasks" on my Gmail, but it's not there when I add it. So I guess it doesn't sync at all.

My understanding is that it does not sync with Gmail. Not sure why Google hasn't made a native app yet, but I've had no issues using 3rd party apps to sync my tasks with Gmail. Gtasks is a good free alternative. I currently use Tasks by team task.

[Q] How to default Contacts to Google Contacts?

I go to Contacts settings and set to display only Google Contacts. As I know this should have defaulted new contacts to be added into Google and you no longer need to choose which phonebook to store it from the dropdown menu, but it doesn't work on my GPro.
Any1 knows how to solve this? Thanks in advance

While adding a new contact u would get an option to link that contact to ur google account(save to cloud which can be synced by using ur gmail id) or save it on phone memory only or on sim.. Is this what u are asking? Try saving a new account and watch out for these options.

I'm aware of the options, and it is the option dropdown menu that I want to default to Google. It's annoying having to change it to google everytime I want to add a new contact.
As a matter of fact, I can live without using the phone memory at all!

Looks like this phone really locks down the contact book. You can't even edit your own profile info once you set it. At the top of the contact list there's an entry called "ME." I went to edit it and put my home landline phone as my home phone, then added my cell as a mobile. The home number is greyed out and you can neither edit nor delete it. What kind of nonsense is this?
I'm also looking for a solution.
Clearing data/cache from Contacts and Contact Storage from either Apps settings or TitaniumBackup do not work.
Really frustrating. I'm having a hard time moving my contacts from other phones which can't sync with Google.

Try to use rainbow contacts (get it from playstore) if your other phone had bluetooth on it..
Is there any solution for this Contact problem that Google can't be the default but always the Phone ?
I was hoping upgrading to kitkat would change this, but it didn't.
