I use stock version .62 with doomkernel v13 and it doesn't feel very smooth.
What's currently the best smooth, bugfree, stable, fast rom for mainly purpose of gaming and searching the web, with an acceptable battery life?
I tried myself some roms like JokaWild, True Ancestor and Darkforest I think but they all had something I didn't like
Thanks in advance
stock GB rom..

JokaWild is the fastest and has great battery life.
It's also bugfree.
if you didn't like the way it looks (I don't) try flashing a theme.
Nabeel_Nabs has a great ICS theme.
Thomassafca has a bunch of nice ones.

For me,it's way better than JokaWild. I'm thinking of going back to stock and use it with DoomKernel.

Seeing as we have OnLive, I really fail to see why people bother with the Play Store and Xperia Optimised games.
Then again, I guess it depends on your net connection.
More on topic, just use stock and RAM Manager set to Hard Gaming

I use JokaWild v2.5 with v13 Doomkernel and its very fast. No bugs. -36 Baseband. Great Battery Life. All games are smooth on it.
I tried ICS and I went back to it because my games didn't run as good, some were choppy.
I haven't tried TrueAncestor yet, I'm fine with JokaWild and am going to stick with it
Use JW 2.5 or use DiXperia monster, that's the one I like best. It's very bloat-free and fast. I have no lagged in Asphalt 6 at all with doomkernel v14 and this rom.

dixperia monster+doomkernel should do the job..
hello :cyclops:
i have the arc s lt18i.
in the beginning i flash the official sony ics release and i compare it to the samsung galaxy s1 - i9000 with custom rom (run ics).
the result is that the galaxy s1 much faster and smoother then the arc s. all the menus are much faster and the youtube app much much smoother. - the arc s is laggy and dont smooth in youtube app when i move from comments section to "other videos" section, when i scrolling in the "comment" section or "other videios" section.
i think thatthe official rom is the problem so i flashed ics jj hybrid rom.
now the phone is fast but not like the samsung galaxy s1 :crying:
the ypuyube app is very lag when i play a clip and navigate in the "comments" section, which in galaxy s1 is smooth!
as much as i know the arc s have a 1.4ghz and better specs
so what is the problem? is the samsung galaxy s1 is really better then the arc s?
thanks! :good:

a custom kernel really Influencing the speed?
when you scrolling in the the comments of a music video on youtube the scroll is not smooth? (while the music video is playing)
p.s can ypu give me a good kernel that support jj hybrid rom?
thanks man

hmm.. so the galaxy s1 with the 1ghz is better then the arc s with 1.4ghz?
because i did not overclocked both of them and the galaxy s1 is much faster.
do you guys have the same lags in the youtube with the scrolling? (while the video playing)
thank you guys for your comment!
Dont Forget
Dont forget that your galaxy S is using a custom rom. Considering if it were on a stock ROM performance would be better on the arc S considering that it is on 4.0.4

ok but i dont see differences at all in the arc s or the galaxy s1.. i mean the ics look and everything is exactly like the arc s jj hybrid ics.
everything is the same!!! like they both based on ics!!!
but the old galaxy s1 wins for sure

Same problem with my Xperia Arc (ICS) ..
I think Sony mess up with ICS firmware. The phone was great and game friendly with GB, with official ICS it's laggy and don't play many games. I'm with a locked bl based on the 431 firmware. I've tried some roms and finally stick with pureness 10 V6 supercharged. Games won't play, but the phone is more reponsive, with less launcher restart. But overall the phone is slower than my old Desire with CM7

Unlock your bootloader , flash a custom kernel , flash a custom ROM ... Then you will see how fast it can perform...
BTW the galaxy s is probably on a custom kernel which is overclocked , running a custom supercharged ROM...

I don't want to unlocked bootloader and lost warranty and drm right And i don't think that putting a custom kernel made such a difference. But why Sony can't simply release a good rom is beyond my understanding. Why with GB i have no problem to play Angry birds and Asphalt 6 and when i upgrade to ICS, i must sometime reboot to play Angry bird because of touchscreen problem and can't play Asphalt 6 because of lack of usable memory. Maybe it's Google fault too, with ICS to big for 2011 smartphone, or bad Sony rom, but the result is here, unhappy customer, who are think twice before buying a sony phone in the future

I'm looking for the best kernel & rom to use on my xperia play R800X, looking for something with all the features, good game compatibility, more free ram, and more free internal memory. Can someone point me in the right direction?:crying:
After trying few ICS Rom available for our phone, i came to conclusion that there's no better ROM for gaming on R800x beside GB ROM,
so now i'm using GBTweaked ROM + Doom's Kernel V2,
so far so good, Gaming with all compatibility, Bravia Engine, Overclocking ability and else... good internal memory & ram as well..
u still need to de-bloat some stuff though... especially if u r like me who didn't use verizon as carrier

GB tweaked is based on stock 2.3.3 as the rom says its "tweaked." No big improvements other than its debloated and added A few changes to your build prop.

1.2 is bug free and to me has better battery life.
1.3 has some minor bugs and has better performance.
I prefer 1.2 cause i would like my phone to have no bugs

The NXT rom until now is the best.... Jackleboltt said that gin2jelly is faster than NXT, how is battery life compared to NXT?
NXT has better battery life than Dixperia2.
cheers! :good:
I think NXT Rom 1.3 is the best rom available RIGHT NOW for XperiaPlay.
Only 2 (irrelevant) bugs:
1-When u connect the phone to charger AC, phone turns on
2-Camera app doesn't work if Flahslight on QuickPanel is set
I'd prefer gin2jellybean for the looks & perf. If not i can just use its theme on both dixperia 2 & Nxt rom.
Regards,
Sdojoin
Thanx for your feedbacks!
So in bottom line the best roms are, NXT, Dixperia2 and Gin2jelly...
Anyone has used Trueancestor or the Cyanogenmod? or any other GB stable rom?
thanx again!
Cheers! :good:
Title says it all really, I've spent most of my time away from the rom/kernel scene - looking to get back into it (perhaps)
So - I have a few questions.
1. For the R800X, Cola rom seems to be the best in terms of ram and internal memory; which is what I'm looking in a rom BTW. Is that still the case?
2. At the time, NXT LE was the best rom for the R800AT in terms of ram and internal memory, now since then I've noticed there's a new rom called NXT game or something along those lines, is that rom less resource consuming?
3. Any new GB kernels? (currently have DooMKerneL V2 on R800X & LuPuS V5 on R800AT)
4. Is GB still the best android version for these phones? I've seen a lot of people using JB on their plays recently.
5. And once again, looking for roms with high amounts of free ram and internal memory. Anything 'new' around here I should look into?
-Thanks

Well for r800at I'd check out Aurora play, atomic gb, it gin2jellybean. All look great and have great ram except for the last one. It has jellybean features so it doesn't have as much ram but still has the great touch pad compatibility of gb and games still run great. For r800x there are not much new custom rooms. But for r800at you can update your kernel to lupus v8. Also for r800x you can use lupus v8 as well if you use stock 2.3.4 because there was a camera fix for it. But sync still doesn't work. And also 2.3.3 wifi doesn't work with any kernels but stock and doom v2. Welcome back

Do you happen to know how much ram and internal memory is available upon a fresh install of Aurora Play & Atomic GB?
I use Doomkernel V2 on my R800X (2.3.3) because Superoneclick wouldn't root my phone on 2.3.4. So I'm pretty sure I'm stuck on 2.3.3 for the R800X if I want a custom kernel and rom with working wifi.
Well for r800x you can use lupus v8 and 2.3.4. To root it just flash the root zip in the op of the thread. For Aurora play I think it has about 270- 280 on a fresh install. I never tried it because I have an r800x (edit: well i did but no service so only used a little and dont remember) but I saw that posted in the thread and everyone said good things about it. It also has adreno booster which helps out with lots of games but some people reported it had problems with enulators. But you can always remove that yourself. I'm not sure about atomic gb though you'll have to check out its thread. Also if you don't use service on your r800x you can use this patch here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961403 so that you can use GSM gb rooms on your r800x. I've tested it and it works. Just make sure to flash it right after flashing the rom.

Any advantages Lupus V8 has over DoomKernel V2?
Aurora Play sounds pretty good, but what about Atomic GB?
Its more up to date but really performance was pretty similar. Only advantage is if you want to use 2.3.4. But if you need gsync it'd be best to stay on 2.3.3.

Atomic gb looks good and works very well. I can't say in my own opinion because all the GSM rooms I tried were only for a day. All the reviews in the thread seem good so why not try it. For now I would go with atomic gb because there's a new update coming for Aurora play soon that'll fix a lot of things and make it better so you might as well wait. But atomic gb is final so you can use that and if you don't like it switch to Aurora play when the new update comes

I've never had any problems with wifi so far except for sometimes after turning off the phone and back on it won't automatically connect. You have to go to wifi settings and then it'll connect. But other than that its been working great. You could also use doom kernel v 14 if you use 2.3.4. I think it gives better gaming performance.
