[ROM][P1000][AOSP] Cyanogen: The Future 7.2 - Galaxy Tab Android Development

PREQUEL: RETIREMENT
I decided to retire from the underground Android world for a some time, so neither shall I answer all the messages you'll write here nor will I update my ROM any more until my return. However, I don't close this thread and I let you continue downloading and using my ROM. You just won't get my support, but other developers and porters' one.
Sorry, but I decided to do something serious with my life.

PRODUCTION
Code:
Since you entered in XDA developers, your warranty is now broken.
No responsibility is mine.
My personal Value Pack for our good old Samsung Galaxy Tab.
If you think CyanogenMod 9 isn't good enough, if you're waiting for Jelly Bean to become stable, if you're sad for Alterbridge's desertion, if you don't want to remain in Samsung any more, then you could try Cyanogen: The Future 7.2.
I just ported CyanogenMod 7.2 from Galaxy S with all its good things like swype to clear notifications and rotation animation.
FEATURES:
Rooted (Really!)
Based on CyanogenMod 7.2 (Gingerbread 2.3.7)
CyanogenMod 10 bootanimation
Task manager from Samsung's Touchwiz
DPI set to 240. Gingerbread doesn't have a tablet mode, but if you want to change the dimensions of the objects in the screen you can set the DPI to 213 editing the file /system/build.prop and changing the line ro.sf.lcd_density=240 to ro.sf.lcd_density=213. I don't suggested you to set other values, because it will cause compatibility issues.
I'll add more good things in the next versions (I'm already working on it)

KNOWN BUGS:
While charging and the tablet is shut down, battery animation is very strange (do you remember CyanogenMod 9 bug?)
Keyboard id very small. I suggest you to use ICS keyboard from Google Play.
Let me know if you find other bugs.

I hope this gets P1C support sometime...
I love my CM7.2 on my HeroC, EvoShift and HD2! CM9/10 is great and all, but is just not finished yet!
Thanks!

Even do I believe CM9 and 10 still have to be finished, and CM7.2 has a lot of ICS changes, like swype to clear notifications. What's more, this CM7.2 ROM seems to be very fast and smooth.
The problem is I don't know how to port this ROM to P1c, and I don't know what changes there are between P1 and P1c. Do you know it?
Maybe I just have to change kernel.
EDIT:
I searched a bit, and here
http://magrathearoms.weebly.com/archived-roms.html
there are only kernels for P1N/L. Since I can't build kernels and I'm not a developer and in the base ROM there isn't a kernel for P1C, I think there isn't too much to do.
But it seems Diz is going to create a new BOCA. If it support P1C, stay sure I'll remember you!

I have also the resolution test everything works well from 180 dpi, otherwise between 160 and 180 dpi there is a colour shift in the notification to the levels of the icon bar the ROM in it even is very enjoyable quick is fluid

I set DPI to 240 because at 180 there are some problems with Play Store. You can't download some applications.

I don't have neither che problem of the lockscreen nor the Settings one. Can you give me some screenshots, please?
What's more, in this ROM there's the stock browser, it's the application with the earth icon. Maybe you're referring to Samsung's ICS browser. If it used to let you download some videos, maybe it was because you didn't have Adobe Flash Player. If I remember well, even Opera lets this.
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app

does this require a custom kernel?

I just realise that i forget one step..format system..
I'll try to reflash to stock again and flash this rom back..man~ i just done restore all of my app back..restore the xda app..open the thread..and just reread your guide..lol..
It's already 6.20a.m here..i dint even get to sleep yet..going to restock and reflash right after i wake up later..lol..thanks..
I will report back after i'm done..

I have been running this rom for about a day and this is coming from a dude who ran, cm7(latest nightly), glite, unity, virtuous sense, doubleshot and just about every other rom and My say on this Rom is that its very smooth to b a sense rom. Even though its only sense 2.1 I can deal with it. I haven't had any problems with it. The MMS size issue for tmobile phones that some of you are talking about is not present in this rom. You can recieve MMS perfectly fully sized. You might have to change the multimedia settings in the messaging app tho.

Wow, it's a really nice rom! Just flashed it and allready all my apps synced with google. It was never that fast with other roms! My question only is it possible for more languages? I do know my English so actually not really a problem but if possible Dutch would be nice Now my hope is dat the rom is nice for my battery too Will see in about a day.

thanks for this rom! Honestly I thought this is just another laggy sense rom but this is so far the fastest sense rom i ever run. Virtuous is not fast enough, the official ota is not fast enough either, even with overclocking! This one makes me feel like running CM7, well not the same but very very close.
And it has trackpad wake built-in! This is definitely a killer feature. Message can be previewed in lock screen, it resembles the sense 3.0 appearance!
BTW this rom does have a mobile data access problem, you have to manually add your APN. I'm using this rom with rogers in canada. I can confirm that data works great after you add your APN. 4G sign on all the time.
The trackpad led is not working, which is expected cuz these 2 phones have different hardware.
And those T-mo things aren't that bad! I actually like the "faves" feature, looks very cool.
good job! I may stick with this and leave cm lol.

Downloads
myVision RC3.2 Download
Optional Downloads
Cyanogen's Development tools
Cyanogen's DSPManager
The following downloads are for testers only. If you download one of these files and flash it to your phone and something does not work right don't blame me. I am trying to get this rom finished but since I don't have the G2 anymore I am relying on you to help fix the issues.
Flash these files in recovery.
The first .zip is to hopefully enable the 4-way reboot options. download
Next is a .zip that should add more language support. download
I have pulled these two .apk's from CyanogenMod if for any reason I am requested to remove them I will do so. Until I recieve permission from Cyanogen I will not add them to the ROM but they are here for you as flashable zips.
Bugs
HTC FM radio is not working on RC3.1 - working on a fix now.
And if you would like to thank me for my work please feel free to buy me a beer donation link.

Changelog
myVision Final
Coming Soon.
Will be adding 4-way reboot (when I figure out how to do it)
Will be editing updater-script so that you aren't just looking at a blank screen while it is installing (again when I figure out how to do it.)
If you know how to do any of this and wouldn't mind teaching me I would appreciate it, I don't want someone to do it for me but I would love to learn how to do it for myself.
RC3.2 - 8/22/2011 - Current Version
Added TTS support
Made a few tweaks to make battery life even better.
RC3.1
Fixed Swype
Added HTC FM Radio
Changed name of phone from T-Mobile myTouch 4G to myVision
Moved as many of the apps as possible to the data/app/ folder so that they will be user uninstallable. Many apps won't work in this folder so the ones that won't are still in the /system/app/ folder and can be removed with ES File explorer if you choose to remove them.
RC3
Pre-installed XDA app, ES File Explorer, and Google Talk
A few changes in the build.prop should make it run even better.
Finally added new market so no need for the extra download
Added 3.0 themed swype with the white keyboard and the light blue trace. I can't seem to get the actual 3.0 to install it always says unlicensed. So I will work on that for the Final version.
RC2
Fixed FC problems with touch input when using physical keyboard
Added Swype
RC1
Baked in Virtuous Sense kernel from rmk40
Fixed landscape issues
Fixed backlight issues
Forgot to add new market, the apk will be in the downloads.
v1.1 - added maps, new market, removed swype (until I can figure out how to fix it.)
v1.0 - initial release

I got a few errors recompiling it, but I think they were all cosmetic. Push this and let me know if it works, you may have to wipe cache.

I'll type out the method to fix it later.
Once we get some pics i think i'll give this a try!
As long as the device you are creating a rom for comes with swype built in you can add it to your roms.
Looking forward to trying this, just going to wait till keyboard is fixed

Ok guys I have been working on this all night and I finally got it going CORRECTLY. I tried to keep it as stock as possible so some of the bloatware is included some not. I will be uploading 2 versions in about an hour one with and one without. The homescreen does not rotate to landscape, but landscape works well now throughout the UI. I was able to fix the backlight issues on the keyboard and the touch buttons and now you no longer have to flash a different kernel, I finally learned how to use dsixda's kitchen and cooked it in. I still need to modify the build prop and the updater.script a little but it is working fine for now.
Has really nobody downloaded this? I thought it would be more popular.

you can use whatever build u wish to flash im not saying im better or hes better thats not what its about... Just expect some bugs because i cant bug test it myself is all... IF you feel someone elses build is better so be it use that...
and it will be based off stock but ill be adding power menu mod lock screen support init d support so on so yaaaa its going to be better then a straight stock build.... Ill release in a few days... still have some things to get working on your rom...
The diffrence between a blind build and a non blind build is
the person building it has access to the device where as the blind builder is going to rely on the community if there is any major bugs with the rom ...
eg the rom wont install it just boot loops this app crashes theres a graphical bug here and there power menu doesnt work lock screeen etc... where someone has the device can test those things upfront....
Honestly i theme my own roms ... Granted some of my roms might look like some of my other roms that just goes with sometimes run out of ideas or people just like some aspects of them so for familiarity they are included..
Hope i answered your question.

I'm just curious about the process. I was with android since the g1 days and then left for iPhone but came back to android again.
So what you pretty much doing is, taking an already working rom, theme it, add your tweaks and then your done right? If its that too easy then why your saying "stuff might not work" and "I need testers" what do you think might break stuff on an already working rom?
Also I can't wait to test out the new rom, you got any eta when you will get done? Can I be a tester??

There is no ntfs/exfat externel sdcard support in cm10. To use ext sdcard you will need to reformat it to fat32 using third party utilities in windows. If you already flashed you can use adb in cwm recovery to pull your data.

Find any combination you like, scale and project apps, widgets and system components!
PER-APP-COLOR, Paranoidandroids newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel (same that allows you to scale apps individually and choose their interface). See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

If this is actually source compiled, that is the difference. The other one says so in the OP but further along he states it is a port and not compiled. As such, the threads are both in the wrong sections. This is original (you made it), his is not (he copied/pasted it).

Ahhh well fair enough then.
Also, Im going to include a link to my ATT thread that may answer any questions some of you may have.
The OP is properly Paranoid formatted. So I am behind this
If I may make a suggestion though? It was quite the scroll with those pictures. It would be nice if you would hide the some of them with the
tags.
For example,
Here is a paragraph! :victory::angel::crying:
And it would be easier on mobile connections and slow internet in general.
Thank you! And great work! Let me know if you need a server mirror!

FAQ's - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What's so awesome about this ROM?
A: Its an Xtra-hybrid ROM. Read First Post .
Q: Is a full wipe needed?
A: YES , If its first time you are flashing the ROM
NO, it is not required, but it is strongly recommended. If you choose to do a "dirty" flash, please do NOT post bug reports or issues you are having, as something from an earlier release might be causing the issue.
Q: I Can't see media in gallery or apollo. What To Do ?
A: Make sure you don't have corrupted files in SDcard, best way to check is to copy all your SDcard data to PC.
Q: Why Phone soft reboot's while playing video?
A: Disable HW overlay in Settings>>Developer Options. It's a known issue
Q: I want only 1 row of toggles/power widget, not both, how to disable one of them?
A: To disable CM's power widget, you know how. To disable AOKP toggles, ROM Control>Toggles>Enabled toggles>De-Select everything
Q: How to turn on Nav Ring feature in AOKP ROM Control?
A: You need to install gapps, Google Now to be specific, because it's a default Nav Ring
Q: I flashed this awesome ROM but I don't have Google Apps. why?
A: You simply have to download the gapps from download page and flash via recovery.
Q: Is Project Butter working on this ROM?
A: Yes, Project Butter in included.
Q: I'm having an issue and want to report it but I don't know how.
A: First, check if someone else has reported the same issue. If no one has reported the issue then make a post describing your issue. Don't forget to attach your logcat.
Q: I keep reading about this "logcat" what is it and how do I make on?
A: "The Android logging system provides a mechanism for collecting and viewing system debug output. Logs from various applications and portions of the system are collected in a series of circular buffers, which then can be viewed and filtered." To learn more about logcats and how to create them please refer first post
Q: Google play doesn't download anything , What To Do ?
A: Open Terminal Emulator Application and write following :
su , then press enter and give allow root access, then write
killall drmserver
ADDITIONAL UI CHANGE FAQs
Global density :
Is the one used by your hardware configuration and all non PAD touched applications. It's the old one that you can change with build.prop, and this one can get you outside of tablet mode - Phone mode. Don't touch it if you dont know what you're doing. This one has nothing to do with PAD or PAL, as it's the one designed by google.
Default SystemUI DPI :
User interface density, can be reflected on statusbar, Recent apps, etc. This one can't get you outside of your current mode.
Default User DPI :
Is the one used when your app is not on pad.prop list, so when you run a new app that it's installed by you, and not on /system/app, it will run at this density. This one cant get you outside your current mode neither.
Some Other Facts :
You can't change framework dialogs (like when you hold power button) density on tab mode yet, don't waste your time (it's limited from 120 to 128 global density so it's not a huge difference)
Keyboard must be on the same global density, for tablet mode (i have not tried phone mode)
Disable Settings>System>Statusbar>Auto Hide statusbar
If you see the dock on launchers in tablet mode, and not the old layout, this is NORMAL, it was ugly before, and now it's preset to phone mode at 240 density. If you want to get the old ugly tablet mode for launchers, go to settings > paranoid > hybrid settings > list apps, select your launcher, put density to 120-140 and put in on tablet mode
I'm not the responsible that some apps, being on phone mode, and setted up to tablet mode looks ugly. Google is. Go blame google!
The message that appears every time that you change DPI or layout mode for any app IS NORMAL, we put in there so changes can be applied, APP IS NOT FORCE CLOSING, we're asking you to force close, please read at least!

Great thing combining these 3 forms of android in one, and great work for porting it to our device

Another: is sense 5 already released? The sourcecode I mean? Oo

When I ported ICS ParanoidAndroid, this bug (yes exactly this) was fixed by changing framework-res/res/values/bools.xml:
Code:
<bool name="config_forceDisableHardwareKeyboard">true</bool>
This bool needs to be set to false.
Check this if you haven't did it yet.

Unfortunately although we're aware of the problem, the problem is the solution: So far, from what srapped365 has told me, setting this to true is the only way we know of (so far) to get the soft keyboard working. There's definitely some stuff in android.policy.jar that we haven't discovered yet (of course in ICS you already had fixes for keyboard problems in android.policy.jar as well).
I will try completely finish the first post by tonight.

For those who dont know about this rom yet let me fill you in. This is the original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2756911 and all the things that work thank them. For everything that is broken well that is most likely my fault. LOL! This rom is a direct port and will only be offered as the original team made it (besides fixes for Sprint). Please do not ask for me to add or change anything.
This rom contains S5 apps and N3 features (air command)!!
Thank you Section
I will fix this up later but for now it will be pretty much empty
Team N3bula for the rom and allowing me to port it.
Please use Philz 6.07.9 recovery...
http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/l900
Flashing Instructions
1. Download rom and verify MD5sum
2. Place rom on phone (if not already)
3. Backup anything you need/want that is in your internal sdcard
3. Backup current rom
4. Factory reset/Format for new rom
5. Under mounts choose format /data /data/media (this is your internal sdcard)
6. Reboot into recovery
7. Flash rom and reboot
The first boot will take a long time so please wait. Also the phone will be a little sluggish for awhile (it has to setup itself).
If you have not taken the 4.3 or 4.4.2 OTA/ODIN and not flashed the wifi fix you will need to do so to be able to use wifi.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358548565 -- this version is not compressed just flash it as is
This will not fix wifi on beta 2.4
Thanks to:
xda -- with out this forum I would not be able to do any of this
xda university -- giving me a huge knowledge base to draw off of
garwynn -- posted the tar which is the base for all my work
Chaz187 -- helping with more than I can list and being a great member of this community
lorjay589 -- always willing to help with anything I have a question about and giving so much to this community
samsung -- for making such a crappy version of 4.4.2 without that there would be no need for any custom versions lol! (sorry had to poke some fun)
Team N3bula -- The source of this port
lacoursiere18 -- worked with me to get this and DN3 up and running
My great group of testers -- they help get the really big issues found -- this way yall only have minor annoyances instead of major problems
@Currykun
@eg62011 @jrebo @Leoisright @rezistrat
@ColeTrain! @mrwright83
@ianmb
@DJ IZZY @jay2149
Any thanks to everyone who uses and gives feedback.

Mods and Fixes
Here is the systemUI from the Community Rom (S5-look). I have only tested this on beta 2.4 but it should work on all of them. If you are not on 2.4 then it will automatically delete your systemUI.odex file to keep issues from showing up. Note that there is a S5-FEAT-systemui.zip so you can go back to it if you want.
Aroma File Manager
Okay guys here is the meat for your philz recovery. Unzip the this and place in your clockwork folder on your external sdcard. It will work on your internal but if you wipe internal (like you should every flash) you will lose it. Once you place it there boot into recovery and double tap a blank part of the screen.
There is one tiny issue with this. Every so often when changing directories it will kind of hang. Dont worry if you see this just touch the screen and it will work.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ca560s28o5ekvfw/aromafm.zip
I will put this on android file host later.
Just had to share this! This is what why I enjoy doing this (besides the fact I have a cool looking phone).

My current phone is a LG g2 I had the sprint note 2 previous. My note2 was collecting dust and I decided to see what's going on with it on xda as far as roms. I just switched back from LG g2 to the note 2 . The rom you made or ported is mad sick I might sell my LG g2 and I love that phone. Thank you my new daily driver

I've been running 2.3 for a week or so had no problems so far. I guess I should wait for the WiFi fix as I use WiFi most of the time. Thanks for all the hard work porting it and props to the devs who did the original Verizon ROM

I have the S5 systemui flashable zip uploaded in Post 3. It has only been tested on 2.4 but I made the script so that if you tried it on the other betas it will remove your systemui.odex file.
Great work JL I am gonna flash this after I get finished playing with the Community ROM Alpha 1. You are relentless man!!!

Two last things I forgot to mention. Again from other versions so I don't know why I didn't say anything.
Has not been as big an issue, but some music lag when screen goes off. Only sometimes.
I'm guessing increasing minimum cpu speed might help, but feel we should not have to.
And I know this is a TouchWiz issue, but what causes the wallpaper to revert to default in most restarts?

Will look into those for you. All of this is on 2.3? Now about wallpaper. Give this a try. With root browser go to system and delete the wallpaper folder. Then make sure you have your wallpaper set and do a few reboots. Hopefully it will help.

Yes. I'm on 2.3, but have noticed a little music lag on lock screen with all betas. Any music player or milk.
Also that most of the time when I pause a song on any music player if I do something else or leave for too long it goes away. If it's still there it's back at the beginning. Not major issues.
I'll give the wallpaper thing a try.
And the only other thing seems to be some weird issue with my phone. No matter what TouchWiz rom I install "stock, beta, s5" I have to manually install video share for group play.
All minor issues. Thank you for all this work.
I'm gonna test the system ui on 2.3 and then possibly try 2.4 and wifi fix.
Have you gotten a chance or had the want to look at those supposed super trimmed/beefed TouchWiz launchers?
Not that it's anywhere near as bad as the Internet likes to claim.

I think I'm on 1.8
Runs well. I didn't see that in the OP.
Has anyone used the WiFi fix on a version besides 2.4 and the successfully used the WiFi fix and then re-flashed 2.4 and kept WiFi?
I noticed he said it was a 2.4 issue and I was gonna try going to 2.3 using the fix and then come back to 2.4 wiping just the caches, but wanted to check if it's been done successfully or not before I go ahead and download it.

Link me to the video share you install and I will include it with the rom. I have not looked and any of the "special" TW launchers. Everything seems to run fine on the stock one so I see no reason to change LOL.

Only 2.4 will show the correct version under settings and what you are seeing is the base rom's info. I am willing to bet you are on 2.3. Only way to tell for sure is by the "issues you have" or by the name of the file you flashed. I am trying to make sure I get that updated on each new release. BTW I am flashing 2.5 now and will let yall know how it goes.

You can try if you want but it will not work. The wifi fix zip in the OP clearly states it wont fix wifi on 2.4. The zip is for those who have not taken the OTA/Odin.

Just a heads up flashing the community systemui just makes it look like the stock ui (without the theme) on the 2.3.
