Just a note if your pockets are sweaty, hot or pretty warm don't put your pocket in there as it makes it even hotter and absorbs water, it can damage your phone...
re-flash the firmware for stock (OPTIONAL): if you want you can wipe all data/factory reset etc. using CWM before re-flashing the firmware (WHY?): Because it fixes problems/bugs that way & is always recommended before flashing anything

can you try format factory, clear cache and try another rom. If it doesn't work, i think it is hardware problem

[Q] Home screen keeps crashing / looping every time i change roms

I have been having a problem every time I change roms where after it boots up, i get maybe 5 minutes to play around and then the home screen crashes. It reloads, finds a signal, media scanner running etc, just like i just turned the phone on. Before I can do anything, it crashes again and repeats forever. Its not boot looping though. But it makes the phone useless.
This happened last time i tried the 12 lockscreens mod (im on calkulins 2.8.1), so i had to wipe and reflash calks rom since my backup was bad. Then i made another backup to be safe, which is working. Today i tried flashing blu kuban by rujelus22. Same thing happened. Which makes me thing there is a deep seated issue somewhere in the phone.
Every time i flash a new rom, i wipe cache and dalvik, and format system. I also tried a factory reset. Nothing solves my problem and I cant find anything similar anywhere.
I really hope one of you has a brilliant idea for me because I really love this phone, but If im stuck with one rom forever I would be a very sad panda
BTW i have to thank all the devs for all the sweet roms and hacks, you guys rock
Download calkulins wipe all.zip
Run that then try to flash your rom
Also in CWM run the fix permissions option....that usually fixes alot of issues

Have to start from scratch when phone completely dies?

This is the third time this has happened, when my phone battery completely dies I can not simply turn on the phone after it has charged. It will simply be stuck on the boot screen for hours on end if I let it. The only way I have been able to get my phone usable again is from a reinstall of the stock ROM or a custom ROM. I have tried wiping cache, but I will still get stuck on the boot screen until either the phone dies or I pull the battery.
Normal behavior or a defective phone?
Wich rom are you on? Try flashing another kernel.. I had that issue with stock jb.. Flashed francos and the issue its gone..

First time it happened I was completely stock 4.0.3. Second time I was on a slightly modified 4.0.4 ROM with a franco kernel. Now it happened on 4.1 w/franco kernel. I will try flashing the same kernel over and see if that helps.
Try doing a fresh install meaning wipe data/factory reset.. Wipe cache /wipe dalvik and don't forget to make a backup of your apps and data just in case

A full reinstall (wipe data/factory reset) is the only way to get out of it it seems like. But this shouldn't be normal behavior, right? Happened 3 times in the 2 months I have had the phone, no other Android device I have owned does anything like this.
I had similar issues with the GSM model. Along with when switching Bluetooth on it does a soft reboot. I suggest sending it back under warranty as it is most likely faulty hardware if the software changes makes no difference.

S3 Strange Hardware Failure. No Coming Back?

Had something really weird happen to my S3 guys.
Running teamwin and the Liquid-Smooth ROM. Been that way for 5 months since I bought it with no problems until now.
Plugged the phone up to the charger last night before bed. Woke up and wondered why the charging light was still yellow so I kicked the screen on and it was charging at an extremely slow rate (Around 40mA). Unplugged the charger and the phone made a tone I had never heard before. Noticed two small "glitches" or "artifacts" in the display rendering around the clock area on the home screen. Attempted browsing around the phone. App drawer opened and closed fine but EVERY process or app I would try to launch would crash so I rebooted, and that brings me to where I am now.
The ROM will NOT boot. The phone just sits there at the Galaxy SIII splashscreen. I can boot to Odin/recovery just fine and the internal SD filesystem appears intact and browse-able. Tried totally nuking the data section. Wiped Dalvik/Cache, did factory reset and then wiped the ROM. Tried re-installing the ROM and even re-flashing the radio and it still doesn't boot past the splashscreen.
While I was in recovery it also told me, "Your phone doesn't appear to be rooted. Would you like to install SU?", which is strange because the phone WAS rooted.
Thinking this thing mysteriously turned itself into a paperweight. Any ideas?
Please install a different Non-Liquid Rom. But for best results, First ODIN back to stock and then go from there. Use Root 66 Stock image.
agree with odin flashing root66 firmware. factory reset FIRST though. you will likely be forced to if you dont, and once stock recovery is flashed back on it will wipe internal sd.
if you still have issues after that i would suspect a hardware failure.

Just FYI guys I got it back about an hour after posting this.
Even after wiping both caches, performing a factory reset, fixing permissions and finally nuking the ROM it still would not boot. I then put in a spare SD, used recovery to copy everything from internal to external to save all my valuable data and only after wiping the internal SD was I able to get the phone to boot again after re-installing the ROM.
I then transferred all valuable files back to internal SD, restored from a recovery backup and then was good to go. A bit strange but I got it working again.
Eventually I might upgrade from LiquidSmooth but I like it and have no reason to change for now.

[Q] S3 Turning Off on its Own

I've been regularly running cyanogenmod 11 on my Bell S3 without many issues. Last going off, I believe I was running either M11 or M12 of CM11, and all was well. Then, curiosity got the best of me, and I slapped on CyanideL Lollipop beta, and while that ran pretty damn well for me for about a month, I reverted back to CM11 a few days ago due to some minor bugs and annoyances (mostly camera). Anyways, since reverting back to CM11 M12, my phone has been randomly shutting off, not rebooting, just off. It has happened while it's in my pocket not really in use, or it can happen while I'm going to check my text messages.
Thinking this was an issue maybe with M12, I updated to the latest nightly, but nope, its still the same. Some of the times that its happened in my hands, I've seen the Power Button menu pop up, and then disappear. A few seconds later, boom, off she goes. It always powers up again when I power it back on, but I would like to try to get to the bottom of what is causing this, as it is being very annoying for me.
The question is, what can I do to try and nail down this issue? When flashing back to CM11, I did the full wipe, then dalvik/cache after the flash. Is there something that happens when you go from 5.0 back to 4.4 that may cause this?
This is possibly related. I tried out an unofficial cyanogemmod 12 rom on my AT&T S3 for a while, but decided to revert due to camera not working. So I installed S3Rx ROM on the phone and had some issues. The phone would get stuck on the loading screen and never get past that. I did the standard data/factory reset, cache wipe and dalvik wipe before installing S3Rx back, but no luck. The only way I could get it to install correctly was by formatting /system, /cache, /data and /data/media in ClockworkMod recovery. But be aware that you will lose all personal data when you do that so be sure to backup.
Alright, I'll backup what I need to, and do a full wipe as you suggested. I'm pretty sure I did that when I downgraded to begin with, but no hurt in trying it again.
You could flash back to completely stock 4.4.2 using firmware from sammobile.com, depending on the bootloader on your phone.

If I do go back to Stock 4.4.2, would I be able to re-root again? Its been a couple of years since I had to mess with stock, so I don't know what has changed.
I've tried a few different things here, completely wiping everything, installing a 4.4.4 kernel, installing CM11 from scratch, restoring from TWRP, etc etc. Still having the issue.
Last thing I'll try before going to stock is to try going back to lollipop.
Update: I'm starting to think that this is just a coincidental hardware issue. It seems to have something to do with my power button, perhaps there's something stuck in it that's cause the button to be pressed. Right before it shuts off, the power menu pops up for a split second once or twice, then the phone becomes unresponsive for a second, then its off. Certainly sounds hardware related. Just attempted lollipop again, and same result.
I think you are correct in your assessment. Open up the phone and see if you can find anything that looks odd.

Unexpected Reboots

Hello,
It seems that my G925T has some problems with soft reboots. I don't know exactly what the problem might be, maybe you can help me troubleshot.
So I have followed up all the things a normal user might do like:
soft reset, hard reset, odin stock rom flashing, smart switch disaster recovery, disabling certain apps, going to safe mode, cleaning cache, resetting cache and dalvik, but nothing. Flashing a different custom rom, custom kernel but still problem remains.
Even after following up with all these steps, my phone still reboots unexpectedly while I use it and even i don't use it. An average is that my phone gets these unexpected reboots like everyday. Maybe 3 time a day, or maybe next day. It seems like soft reboot.
For an some addition information my phone is IMEI repair, but everything is fine, i can get updates as i am currently on the official stock ROM.
Currently I am on latest update DOJC.
What do you think it might be the problem ?
Has soft reboots to do with IMEI repair ?
Is there anyway i can troubleshot this ?
