Your beast is quite different than the international SGS2 and the version's Sprint and AT&T are getting. It has a Qualcomm chipset and GPU that's the same as what's used in the Sensation. ROM's for Exynos SGS2's won't work on it. They're supposed to be starting a seperate forum for it soon. There's some discussion on this in the G2X forum. Look for the thread on the "Hercules."

well we still got a while before that happens, not everyone upgrades when a new device comes out. this is the main reason i didnt buy the nexus among other things ,but we still got half a year before we gotta worry about development ending if it does i would assume

I meant official Samsung support. They seem to be on the "here's our new phone so we don't support anything before this one" thing. Im sure this phone will be unofficially supported by devs for much longer than Samsung will.

If they follow previous patterns, that should mean Int'l release around May, and US release between August and November. We'll be fine for some time to come.

It used to be that like a year after something came out they would announce the next best thing, its moved to as soon as the new thing is out the next best thing is announced. pretty soon its just gonna be announcement following announcement.

Guess I better hold off on the nexus then. Maybe I'll import this when it's released.

I'm in the same boat. Only have had mine a few months. What will really fire me up is if it comes out before we have ICS on this one lol.

Ah, I'm running ICS right now and judging from some other threads I saw we might be getting ICS soon.
Rev 2 of our phones will be shipping with ICS apparently.

Unless you wanted to wait until November to get the SIII, you made a good choice.
SII came out in April, landed in USA carriers in november. Just because they are doing an unveiling doesn't mean it'll come onto market the next day...
But I suppose you have the option of paying 600+ dollars for unlocked, international which still isnt a bad price, but I can think of a few places to put that 600 besides a phone. I'm happy I got the SII for FAR on the down payment.

Can always sell the SII and buy the SIII that way you save some bread..... but I can't wait to see this bad boy, even tho I may not want my SII anymore bcuz of it

I bought thisnphone onnlaunch day at tmobile. I di agree it wont be getting launhed here in the states till way after the international release. Im saying 6 months after intl gets it well start to get news about carrier releases. If i do get it im buying it unlocked. But i did promise myself id stick with a phone until its no longer usable. I love my sgs2. Updates can wait because this can do everyrhing i need. I can do other thinga with 600+ dollars.

Might be why t-mo went with HTC one s.

I'm guessing it will be awhile before we get it. All this confirms is an unveiling over seas.
On a side note check my new sig guys thought it was cool

I have little faith it will launch on US carriers the same day. We all know how US Carriers have serious fetish with bloats.

This is utter BULLHONKY. I've had this phone since October and have been patiently waiting for ICS, and I swear that if Galaxy S III comes out before ICS for Galaxy S II I will DISOWN SAMSUNG and never buy a phone from them.

Exactly!! Anyone who thinks this phone will drop in the US anytime soon is crazy. Bloatware comes first when it comes to phones in the US. carriers will try anything to get more money from you. We were the last to see the galaxy sII on tmobile. Why would we see this phone anytime before January next year?
If there is no option for native ICS then I will pass. The galaxy sII will live on long past the release of the gsIII..

Well if it does get launched before June (which looks to be the case) I'm selling this phone and getting the international version. The 4G speeds don't matter to me since I never get over 8mbps anyway. I'd rather have the phone that gets updates right away and has better rom development.

They say October for the unlocked S3 variants. I bet it will be at least Christmas time before we see anything from T-Mobile.

Seeing as we already have a couple of leaks and the last one was pretty well polished I would not be surprised if the official update got leaked ahead of the October timeframe.

Awesome find. Although it was kind of a given that the JB OTA would be coming soon, considering how smooth and almost perfect LI3 is.
Kudos to Sammy and Tmobile for making this happen!

It doesn't say October is for unlocked S3 variants, it does say it's likely unlocked ones will get it first. You also have to take into consideration that website is just an unofficial blog filled with rumors.

I'm making this thread to see if people think we will get the new Android 4.2 on the sprint S3. I hope we do. I know we just got 4.1 but with all this talk about 4.2 I am already getting anxious. Lol

It'll happen, but it'll definitely be on AOSP first before you see it on tw roms. AOSP already has 4.1.2, like AOKP roms.

That's what I figured it will probably be like 6-8 months maybe longer before witch I'm good with. I hope the S4 comes out before to be hones. Lol. I'll be picking that up when it comes out. If I have the funs?

I've read different things on this too... some are saying 4.2 will just be an upgraded jellybean and key lime pie will be 5.0 and others are saying 4.2 will be key lime pie.

theres an article saying its being worked on for internationalversion and its gonna have the note 2 multi task

Its only required to get updates for 18 months after launch date. Considering sprints track record, we'll probably get an update right before that 18 month period and that'll be it. They did surprise me with this update however. Very timely and first of the US carriers. Hopefully they keep this kind of support up.

I think they will they are trying to get more customers and keep more if its 16 months than I'll have a new phone by than and hope it will come stock with
4.2. I hope the S4 does come with it because that is my next phone. I will never own anything els I love the Galaxy S series

Considering that 4.2 is just an update to jelly bean and not the next version (key lime pie or whatever they end up calling it), I think we will get an official update. Sprint seemed to get some good PR out of being the first to release JB, so hopefully they'll continue the practice.

I'm sure the S3 will continue to get updates for awhile longer. Its not like the HTC phones that get released and don't get any updates lol. Even if there are no other updates I can't ever see myself getting bored with this phone.

I agree there is so much we can do with this phone out the box. With custome Roms and kernels you are unlimited in what we can do.
