After 5 days (seriously) attempting to root my phone I think I finaly managed (I think) and I also installed the CyanogenMod 6.0 ROM which I REALLY don't like it. I actually like the original ROM minus the T-Mobile crap that comes along with it (locked items etc).
Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to remove the CyanogenMod ROM and get back on the original ROM? Is there a ROM that just gets rid of the locked items?
I am a noob and a step by step for idiots would be greatly appreciated
To revert to stock you need to get ESPRIMG.zip and put it in the root of your sdcard. Boot into the bootloader and it will automatically install stock.
Out of curiosity why did you flash CM6 after rooting, you could've stayed stock with root instead.

YAY someone replied!!! (Sorry the excitement but I have been posting for days on different forums and no response )
I think I have the ESPRIMG.zip already on there (it's the file that transfers when doing the initial root right?). Now what exactly do you mean by "put it in the root of your sdcard?" Like on its on and not in a folder?
To answer your question, i followed the instructions on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754669 and since it said to add a ROM and the link provided had several links I just looked for one. The CM6 seemed to have good reviews and I just went along with it.
I am a complete noob to flashing/rooting/hacking/etc... phones and thought it was actually needed.
Once I am in bootloader, I do nothing and let the phone act or do I have to select certain options?
Not true, although that is a way, but generally the espr.img file floating around is the engineering build, not stock. If you want the stock ROM with root simply install CR_MOD. It has the ota update applied as well as root maintained. You will also need to remove the espr.img file as it is only needed once.
One other thing, someone is going to do this, so I'll put it nicely.
This is the Development section, not Q&A. This doesn't really have anything to do with development of ROMs or apps, simply how to flash another ROM. There are many guides on how to flash a different ROM, and using the search feature (which you should have done) would have pointed you to CR_MOD which is a stock ROM. If you don't like some of the apps simply remove them from the zip file.
db, I actually did look and read a few http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705345 but they don't say if its for the slide or is it the 2.1 ... does that make sense?
Sorry if I am in the wrong forum, I was trying to be careful to post in the proper one but alas I was wrong a second time....
I just need to be pointed in the right direction and get a step by step guide for noobs in order not to screw my phone.
Would it be possible to transfer this post to the correct forum?
I appologize for the inconvenience.
A moderator can move the thread. There is a guide in this section on how to flash a rom, this section also has the CR_MOD thread where you can download the ROM.

Yes, it will. CR MOD is based off of Stock Espresso. It is a 2.1 ROM with the Espresso Sense, etc. It just has bloatware removed.
Just go to the rom bible or search for CR_MOD 1.35 OTA FULL and it should come up man. If you are patient ill post the link to the thread later and how to flash it.

For me, the word development = ROM sooooo I just put one and one together but I was wrong and this should have gone to the Q&A... sorry once again.
A link would be great. My eyes are seriously tired of reading and readin and reading for the past 5 days =/
Development = development. As in the developing of roms. Not asking questions about said roms. That's for the QUESTION & answer forum.

I really wish people would stop their banterings about being in the wrong forum. The latest sticky on rules in the dev forum states to use the Report button. All you have to do is click that button and a mod will move it faster than 10+ replies as to why it shouldn't be in this forum. Yeah it's frustrating, but getting it moved is only a click away.
To the OP: Use the ROM Bible to find good info on which ROM is which. The sections are named in a retarded fashion, but the section labeled "Before Espresso, Roms Made Sense!" will probably be the ones you want (Sense is the name of the UI that is from HTC and was the stock look of the software).

As a little pointer, this is a guide in the sticky to help you decide where to post.
Post What Where:
General - general technical discussion items, news, anything else that does not fit into the other fora categories.
Q&A (Questions and Answers) - all questions, irrespective of type, get posted in here whether they be theme related, accessory related, technical, etc.
Accessories - any items to do with components and/or accessories relating to your device.
Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
Themes & Apps - anything to do directly with the development of themes and/or applications. Nothing else goes in here.

Andriod Version 2.2
Kernal 2.6.32.17
Am I outdated or am I ok to flash a new ROM??
Thanks for the help!
I think you meant to post this in the Q&A subforum. Please PM the forum mod and ask that your thread be moved.
Besides that, you haven't provided nearly enough information for anyone to actually answer your question. You haven't even mentioned if you're rooted, S-OFF, or anything. The ROMs here will upgrade those things you mentioned, so your current versions are really irrelevant.
watch the vid I link to in my sig....it'll answer some questions
No I actually meant to post it in the development thread because the question pertained to development. My bad I guess.
Last time I flashed a ROM I had to run the autoroot program to get to 2.2 before I flashed the ROM. I assumed I had to be rooted to flash any of these ROMS so I thought that info was obvious, but I guess not?? So yes I am rooted, and S-off.

regardless if it pertains to development or not....any thread that is a question should be posted in the Q&A section. you should only be making a new thread in Development if its a new ROM, MOD, FIX, etc.

Oops, must have missed that rule......
I did however mark the post as a question and when I was typing the post I marked the box that said "this is a question" I did that to help the people who wouldnt bother giving any advice and would instead tell he how I wasted their precious time asking a question they didn't have to answer or even read. There are at least 5 other posts on the first page at this time that aren't new ROMs, MODs, or FIX's, so I guess the flamers should be really busy today.
Thanks for the helpful help though!

PERFECT! Thank you so much for your help!
I've always rooted my HTC, recently my Ev3D. I found from past experience that certain rooting methods is not too friendly with ease of flashing roms...
Question: I'm not in a rush to root so, should I wait until sprint/samsung release the no signal bug update or is there a safe and stable root method available now?
How many root methods are available now and which is best route?

There currently is no "superior root method." At the end of the day if you are rooted it doesn't really matter how you went about it.
There is a small amount of controversy currently about the rooted-kernels breaking something and causing a LOS (loss of service), but we have no proof that the rooted kernels are or aren't causing the problem. (I, personally, think it has nothing to do with the kernel as I got a few LOS bone stock. YMMV)
Now, you can wait for someone to find an exploit in the stock kernel if that makes you more comfortable be my guest...you might be waiting a while, maybe forever as there is no need.
So, no matter what "method" you use they all have the same goal in mind, get SU into /system/apps...the current "stock rooted" method involves flashing a rooted kernel, flashing a root.zip (to install SU) and then flashing the stock kernel back. Now you have Super User installed *and* the stock kernel. Poof, you are rooted, you are stock, everyone wins...right?

Hi, I just got my Galaxy Nexus yesterday and I would like to install the original software it came with instead of custom ROMs and all that jazz. At the moment I'm running Jelly Bean, with ClockworkMod and I would just like to get it back exactly in its original state. I'm well aware there are many other topics like this out there and I have read a few myself, but I am new to Android really and don't want to screw up my phone. If someone could just point me to the exact thread with instructions for this I would be most grateful. Thank you!

Hi guys, I was looking at rooting my phone. However there are some issues I have with it that hopefully you guys can rectify.
How can I update?
What is the most popular rom?
Is it worth rooting?
My main reason for rooting is getting rid of the bloatware from samsung and optus on my phone. I also want to customize Nova launcher with icon themes but I can do that without a root. What other things can I do with my phone with a root?
Is rooting hard? And how do I backup my phone before I do it? Searching around on here I came across an app called Titanium Backup but you have to be rooted to backup with that?
There is so many more questions I want to ask, but I will leave it at this for now.
Thank you!

Bumping your topic after a couple of house inst going help. Could just end up getting topic closed/deleted. This is not your phones tech support desk and nobody here owes you an answer so when you create a topic be patient. Also not putting "help me please" as topic title would help, just be precise and descriptive about what topic is about.
To answer questions..
1. You flash rom through custom recovery.
2. There is no such thing as a "best" rom and asking this question is against rules.
3. Yes.
I would highly recommend you do some reading/research.

Some ROM's like Cyanogenmod for example have inbuilt rom downloaders which will enable you to download next version and then flash it automatically.
However process is same, simply download new rom, reboot into rescue and then flash next version. No wipe is needed if its same base/version. You only need to wipe if going to new rom/base etc. Wipe will only wipe data partition on internal, your external is untouched.

If anyone is interested in doing this see the sticky in the n7105 thread the guy shows you how to install a custom recovery and install supersu 2.0 through that.
It is also great to try different roms, you can backup and install multiple roms to your liking.
