I'm creating a bounty for the first developer that can get Google Wallet working on our phones. The beauty of this, and why everyone should join in, is that if a developer can get Google Wallet working, we each get a free $10. That's $10 we wouldn't have gotten without the dev's hard work. In essence, Google would be paying to fund development, as they'd be the one putting in all the money. So it will actually cost you nothing to pledge $10 for the bounty, so please consider pledging.
Of course, if you want to pledge more or less than $10, that's cool, too. The more pledges of any amount, the better.
Working will be defined as:
1) Anyone with a Samsung Galaxy S II T989 can install Google Wallet onto their phones, and if eligible according to Google, signup and receive the welcome $10 bonus.
2) Once Google Wallet is installed and properly setup, it can be used to pay for transactions.
Notes:
It is acceptable if installing Google Wallet requires rooting or a custom ROM.
Expires:
This bounty will expire the earlier of July 31, 2012 or when Google stops giving out the free $10 on sign-up. If there is promising work already partially done, we can discuss at that point if we should all chip in for a new bounty, but I want to give everyone who signs up for this bounty an opportunity to back out if either of these happens.
Contributors:
manekineko $10
audi_on_u $10
algorhythm $10
zweetz32 $10
adsadsadsads $10
unlvmike $10
degeneration $10
soicyboy $10
rodolfo7171 $10
jdyowa $10
nexus14 $10
I'll donate my 10... what's to lose..
Personally if i'm gonna donate for a bounty it would have to be something better than this. Our phone could use so much other work that this isn't on my radar. Good luck to those who are up for this, i'm not bad talking it, just think a bounty could go to better use. Good thinking of how it will essentially break even if we got it ported though.

While I wouldn't bet any money on it and it's just a hunch, I'm guessing Google Wallet will be much easier once we get ICS. So even though I'm very interested in Google Wallet, I'd almost rather see ICS first then bounty up for Google Wallet.

But if you'd rather donate for another bounty, you could still donate for this one too and break even.
There's no better use for the bounty, because if we don't get this, then nobody gets the free $10 to donate in the first place.
If we can get a bunch of people to agree to donate their Google $10 sign-up bonus, it's like it's Google that is funding the development, because they're the only ones putting in money.
I'll bite.

Google Wallet can't just by installed from the Market, that's the point of this bounty.
The only phone it comes pre-installed on is the Sprint Nexus S. However, it has been ported by devs on XDA to all Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus.
The only phones with NFC that don't support it are the Galaxy S2 variants as far as I know.
Once devs successfully port it over, then you can sign up using the app they ported, and there is a standing Google offer to give you $10 free for signing up.
Only thing is I don't think anyone is going to try this. But what the hell. Count me in.
There is enough hate in the world. Why can't we all get along here ...?
I guess I would offer up my free 10 bucks for the good of t989 kind.

I doubt that.
He's been basically using someone else's ROM, and calling it his own, just modifying it a bit. Maybe he got GWallet working, but if he's stealing without credit, no amount of awesome things would make me run it.
you can count me in for a $10 donation as well. i figured wth? its 10 dollars that i never had and an awesome feature to rub into iphone users.
OK so apparently I decided today, "hey! u know what, I've had wallet installed for 6 months now. And u know let's open it."
So I did and I got the $10.00 from Google and now here are my 3 questions.
1. It says unsupported device because I'm rooted. Anyway to fix that???
2. How can I put actual cash in wallet since I don't like carrying around my actual wallet.
3. How can I find out which store supports NFC Technology.
THANKS
1. It will say that as long as you're rooted.
2. You go to your cards then tap on the one you want to add cash onto, and it will say add funds.
3. http://www.google.com/wallet/where-it-works.html
Type in your zip code and it'll tell you

Thanks!!! Glad to know.
I just did this as well. Didn't even realize I could get $10 for free.
Unfortunately the only place I've seen an NFC payment thingy is the local Walgreen's, and I almost never go there.
I was hoping to use my $10 to buy a few apps from the Play Store, but apparently you can't do that
There's a Mastercard PayPass locator app on teh Play Store.

1. You can use Wallet with rooted device (the warring sign doesn't affect the app)
2. You can add fund to your prepaid card (from major credit/debit cards)
3. Install Paypass locator app from play store to check what stores accept NFC paypass.

Yep... I use this app all the time anytime I'm in a new neighborhood just so I know where I can dash off to and not worry about my wallet. So far I've used my GW at a bunch of places... 7-11, Whole Foods, Jack in the Box, McDonalds, CVS, Walgreens, The local Taqueria, Concoco Phillips by my house, Macy's, PetCo, RiteAid, and a few others I can't remember. Sometimes it doesn't work and I ask them to hit the total button and it usually works then.
Wish target was one

Spend that $10 you got from Google Wallet now before it goes away on October 17. Apparently you can ask for a refund after that date, but you're charged $2 every 30 days you don't buy anything.

Is there anyway to use this to purchase something from Google Play? I've tried adding it in as a prepaid card with the number, but no go. It would be nice to use this to buy a few apps or something.
How do I get my $10? Do I need to add one of my cards first?
Edit- never mind
Anyway to spend it on something fun? The only place I've used it is at 7-11 so I guess I could use the remaining balance on it for a few drops of gas
what? they recently introduced this prepaid feature and already axing it? why not keep it there as an option for those that don't have credit/debit cards..
this is typical of how google works.. if they don't make millions on something, kill it.

They are getting rid of it because you can use your own credit/debit card now with Google Wallet, so no need for them to keep the prepaid option.
I think the point was to have an option where people can just pay onto the 'cash account' at a retail POS like 7-Eleven as some people don't have a CC or debt card.

It wouldn't make any sense, the point of the per paid cards was a bit of an incentive to the quote unquote beta testers. And now that we can use any credit card, there's no point to it.

I really don't see the harm in leaving it up. If my aunt wanted to send me money, I had a prepaid card to charge her credit card to...then she won't ask why there's $5.09 used every few days (cigarettes) ha. But I guess I'll just get a real prepaid card and put it in my phone. But that kills the purpose of me using Google wallet. Not every place has a nfc reader thingie

You just go onto Google Wallet and activate a Google Prepaid Card iirc. The $10 can only be used in real life, so no play store credit.

So, as you all probably know by now, the Google Wallet Prepaid Cards will expire come October. I need to know what to spend 10 bucks on lol. Not too many places arround me have NFC terminals except like Circle K or something. So anything useful from the market or accessories online?

Thanks for the reply I've had it working on my Galaxy Nexus a couple of years ago and haven't tried since. It worked then. I'm gonna keep trying anyway. I managed to get in to the point where I can create a pin and add a card so I'll see if the prepaid Vanilla Visa and Shopper's still work. I refuse to sign up for Rogers' Suretap scam.
Im using the suretap wallet and it works well, exactly what google wallet does without haking or anything.... I use it all the time you should a least give it a try so see how well it works...

I looked into that scam already. 2$ everytime you want to reload. 2.50$ /month service fee and they charge you 10$ if you want to cancel. TD Bank is coming out with something soon so hopefully it's better. Thanks for the help tho.

Maybe they are Ive never used prepaid cards before, but paying with my phone isn't worth paying the fees. I can just as easily tap my debit card instead.
