Hello
I recently came into possession of a sony xperia lt15i which is currently on Virgin (UK) and I would like to unlock the device. Its currently charging so I cant advise the OS.
Can anyone offer some help please
the software version is 2.3.4
You can unlock the Bootloader by one of three ways and Sim unlock by one, which is to pay for it.
Hi mate,
Mine was locked to Virgin UK, I unlocked via the test point method. Below is a quick guide I made in a previous post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30011599&postcount=4
This method does unlock the Boot loader though, not sure if you want to do that yet.....
Hope you find it helpful
BTW: it doesn't matter which firmware your running.

i have a play, its android 2.3.4, build 4.0.2.A.0.42, baseband 8x55A-AAABQMAZM-203028D-56, model r800a, rogers is original provider, not unlocked, currently rooted, and service menu says i cannot unlock bootloader,
i want to use cm rom, thats it, dont care about anything else, might want to try the ics leak, but i am not sure at all if i can or where to start,
i started with root, and thats as far as i can figure out...
any advice will be awesome
Well you'd better start off by unlocking your bootloader. Can't have CM otherwise
i was under impression that there is no free method to bootloader unlock a branded, sim locked to rogers r800a on 2.3.4
im already rooted with cwm recovery installed,
but not bootloader unlock
Not free, no, but that's the only way you'd get CM. Sorry
whats currently the cheapest paid method, as im on very tight budget right now
Well you can do a "test point" unlock by contacting Alejandrissimo. He helps people do the unlock remotely, but the program that's used needs 20 or 25 bucks (I forget which) for the unlock credit.
ive tried pm'ing him, but no reply, is there anyone else that can do it for cheap ?
Try Jinx13, hes active and does it for 15GBP or $24US.
Check his profile for his email.
I'm gonna bump this thread, I'm on the same firmware and baseband as the OP. I did contact the first guy mentioned and its 24 USD. Is it not possible to flash to generic firmware with Flashtool and then continue to unlock the bootloader ? I have Root and Sim Unlocked. Thanks
Did you look at Sony's bootloader unlocking method? If you do the service menu check and it says Bootloader Unlock: No, then you'll have to pay. Flashing to any firmware won't make unlocking methods any different.
Okay thanks.

You can flash any firmware using flash tool. Download cwm from the market you will have more options. The only way to unlock the boot loader is to pay!!!
You could buy some Omnius credits and do the unlocking yourself without any remote assistance.
The price is probably around the same, maybe a bit less.
here's the site
That's what I used, but I got it for free during an Easter weekend promo.
Hi xda, I am a noob here needing some help on my Xperia play. I am currently using a r800at running 2.3.3 and it will not show if my bootloader is unlocked or not and I want to know if it is or if I will have to have it done for me. Here are some pictures below showing what it shows me... I have rooted it using Superoneclick successfully as well. Im looking to run Cola custom rom on it if anyone is wondering why. If anyone can be of any help here, it is greatly appreciated
Thank you have a nice day!

First off, welcome to XDA. Also first, you should edit that screenshot with microsoft paint and hide your phones IMEI #. You dont want that info out in the open. Second you can only unock the AT&T xperia play (R800at) via either alejandrissimo at unlocker.com or wotanservercom
http://www.wotanserver.com/en/sony-ericsson/se/xperia-play-r800/unlock-tool/debranding-flash
Currently wotanserver is about $10 american and it will unlock your phones bootloader and simlock, so you can use the phone with a T-Mobile or other sim card.
All the details for unlocking on here in XDA, just do a search. I hae never used alejandrissimo but have heard good things, currently though wotan server is cheaper and you can use the unlock tool from wotan to unlock your phones bootloader.
Good luck.
Are u sure Sony still don't allow unlock on r800at? They do for I aswell X now.

As far as I know SONY doesn't allow free bootloader unlocks for carrier branded phones. ...Verizon & at&t
As of bout a month or two ago Verizon users can now unlock their bootloader for free via Sony's webiste. I relocked my bootloader and tested out the code that was emailed to me from Sony and it worked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013762
Currently AT&T is the only Xperia PLAY that you cannot unlock for free from Sony., You must either user Alejandrissimo or WotanServer.com to unlock.
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader of the r800at from sony's website in 2014?
I have a Xperia Pro on fido running xperia ultimate HD (stock kernal)
Sony's official boot loader unlock said that I can't unlock my boot loader.
SE1 Tool does not work.
Allendrissemo (sorry of I can't spell) told me that my phone hardware is too updated (12W24) and it cannot be unlocked.
Now for my pled...
Is there a way to unlock my boot loader? I want to install CM9 but it comes with a custom kernal. And for that I need am unlocked bootloader. If you have a CM9 with a stock kernal, would it work? Or if I have the stock kernal then can I flash that after flashing CM9 and would it work? But I can't flash .img files cause I don't have fast boot.
That is all. Thanks.
I would appreciate any help.
Also, there does not seem to be an Xperia Pro thread on here so if you guys don't mind promoting this to find out, that would be of great help. Thanks.
Is it OK if I bump?

I was in your situation 6 months ago and I just went back to Fido and exchanged the phone within 2 weeks of purchase (using an LG Optimus 2X now that actually has an unlocked bootloader). Like you, I also tried to get Alejandrissimo to unlock my bootloader - didn't work!
Currently, only stock-based custom ROMs can be flashed on a locked bootloader. This applies to all brands, not just Sony.
Even SIM unlocking is in doubt here - I personally couldn't SIM unlock my Xperia via a purchased code (the site cellunlocker.net has never failed me before, except on this one Xperia model). The new security MCUs after 12w14 are tight bastards. Other users were successful with SIM unlock via code, but that did absolutely nothing to allow unlocking of the bootloader.
moral of the story: no matter what country you live in, never get a carrier branded Sony handset! If you really must have a Sony model, the only way to guarantee an unlockable bootloader is to get the stock, unbranded, unlocked model which is expensive.
In other words, if you gotta get a carrier subsidy, avoid Sony. Otherwise, Sony is great at supporting this kind of stuff, too bad most users can't enjoy it due to stupid carriers.
So, there's no hope? I always thought that this XDA community, and its vastness of knowledge would have a solution.

this helped and i'll make sure to buy unlocked phones next time
Hey there everyone!
Let me apologize in advance if these questions have been answered before but I'm so confused right now and I don't want to brick my new Xperia Play.
I had one a year ago but my little cousin trashed it. I finally got a new one today and want to venture into the custom rom world.
The one I bought is an R800a (Manufacturing Date: 12W33) from ebay.
I used to have an R800i, which I just unlocked with the original sony website.
Now a few things that confuse me:
1.
I want to unlock the bootloader, so I looked for the Rooting Status in the *#*#7378423#*#* but noticed that it was completely missing. Is this normal? Or does this mean that my bootloader is already unlocked?
If it's of importance, I can use my German T-Mobile Sim card without a problem.
Is there a way to check if my bootloader has been unlocked already?
2.
I've read about the test point method of unlocking the bootloader. Does this work on devices where the menu point Rooting Status is completely missing?
3.
I want to use it for gaming, are there any recommendations you can make for custom roms for a 800a?
I'm leaning towards the true ancestors 4.0.4.
Thanks in advance for your help! I'll try to provide any info you need.
Edit:
By the way, I do have a working R800i board.
The only problem is that the touch screen doesn't work.
Would it be an option to exchange the boards?
EDIT 2:
Nevermind! I just tried around and unlocked the bootloader just as I did for the old R800i after seeing the message: "Bootloader status: ROOTABLE" in flashtool.
After the unlocking I rooted my phone and just followed a youtube tutorial to install lupus + ancient ancestor.
Finally I flashed the 67 baseband because my sim wasn't working.
Everything works great now.
Just wanted to let you guys know x)
Hey there!
I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on my Sony Xperia M c1905. Currently it says Bootloader Unlock Allowed = No. I've already requested a Sim unlock code from o2 (The phone carrier & the store from which I purchased the phone originally) and successfully removed the Sim lock from the phone. I've also upgraded the ROM and rolled it back again with a full reset to 15.1.C.2.8 however it hasn't changed Bootloader Unlock Allowed = No to Yes.
I've carried out extensive research into the problem, read through the full service manuals for the Xperia M trying to locate the test point to try the test point unlock method (same as was common on the 2011 models) however I've been unable to find it. I've included an attached picture of the phone's logic board showing the available contact points, does anyone know which one is the test point and also if the procedure for unlocking the bootloader via this method is the same as on the 2011 phones? If not what is the procedure? (I've already got an understanding of using s1tool etc)
Alternatively, if someone knows of another method to change bootloader Unlock Allowed = No to Yes on this phone then obviously that will sort the problem as well!
Thank you in advance!
