Home Screen apps freeze? - HTC One X

I have had my One X for about a month now and have an issue that has developed recently. Every couple of days all of my home screen apps seem to freeze. Beautiful Widgets won't update the time. Facebook won't update. ScoreCenter won't update. If I open any of the apps, they work fine, but the widgets on the homescreen won't update until I restart the phone.
Any thoughts on a fix? Phone isn't rooted. and is running Android 4.0.3
Thanks!

Can you get the sense 4.1 update? It's android 4.0.4. My guess is that the launcher isn't updating your widgets. Also check your widget settings on the app.

[Q] Facebook Widget not updating

Hi Guys,
I may not be the only one in this situation so maybe someone found an answer to this.
I've recently upgraded to an HTC One X (Super amazing phone) from an Android converted HD2(brilliant phone).
The only problem I've noticed is that the Facebook widget does not update on my new One X as when i turn on my HD2 works perfectly and updates as it should. I can still see updates from days ago but when i go into the actual app i can clearly see status updates etc.
Anyone having the same problem? Is there any way to resolve it?
I apologize if this issue has been raised somewhere else on the forum.
Thanks
Am I the only one with this problem???

apparently so..is facebook the only widget that does not updates itself?
Looks that way...

Mine's not working either on my Sensation - worked for a day or so and now just shows the same update - app itself works fine
Dunno about Facebook, but the Twitter widget only updates when told to. Also, I'm trying to find out why Facebook and FB Messenger don't send me notifications.
I have the same problem with mine, but when using any non-HTC widget. For example, I use a couple Beautiful Widgets (the clock and the battery status) and both of them just get stuck after a while. A reset resolves it for a while, sometimes a day or more and sometimes only for a few hours but eventually the clock and the battery indicator just get stuck. I have tried other clocks and battery indicator widgets and they too get stuck, so does the stock google calendar widget. It seems like it might be a problem with sense.
I tried to use my friendstream widget to update my FB and Twitter profiles twice yesterday, it just didn't do anything at all... I had to go into each App and update from there, then later in the afternoon it worked fine...
Buggy I guess?
I'm not sure if this helps the facebook widget, but I have tried clearing the data and re-setting the widget up. Seems to keep things going for a good while.
Same problem. No issues on Nexus and had similar problem on Sensation so pretty sure it has something to do with Sense
mine is not working either. facebook, friends widget, etc. slow and must be done manually
I think it's something to do with processes in the background, whilst Twitter seems to actively update for me, Facebook doesn't. I always close Facebook because it eats battery like a fat kid in a donut shop. Facebook for HTC Sense doesn't exist anymore, what updates in the Facebook app's news feed is what you see in Friend Stream and they update at the same frequency.

I'm the same on my HOX . My Fb widget hasn't updated for a week. The app itself is fine. This behaviour is no different from when i had my Desire! I've tried many widgets but it's the functionality of the official widget I want.
Solved for me
Was having this problem with any non-HTC widget, including a battery widget, the google calendar widget, the beautiful clock/weather widget among them. What seems to work is unchcking the "Fast boot" option in the power settings. I did this yesterday and my widgets haven't stopped now for almost 24 hours.
That's the first thing I turn off and yet the Facebook widget will not update unless I reboot the phone
Has anyone found a solution to this? Can it be that Sense is acting up as usual and because of sense our widgets are not updating as they should?

[Q] Want to buy one again, have a question before I do

Hi
I bought this when it first came out (GSM). But I was disappointed by it since it lagged.
After putting 8-15 icons throughout the home screens, and 2-3 widgets, it would start to lag once you go from your browser, back to your home screen, everything would re-draw again and take few seconds.
I want to know if these lag issues have been fixed, I think it has received 2 updates since. (Mine was on 4.02).
I really liked this phone and I really miss it, would like to buy it again since it is cheaper now.
Thanks!
Mm i don't have the many widgets in the screen but I do have a whole bunch of icons I don't find any lags whatsoever and I got the sprint version so it was already on 4.0.4

Sometimes I have a little lag returning to the homescreen. Mostly the only lag other than that that I have is when coming back to the homescreen from an app and then opening up the app drawer. Everything is smooth besides that.

That just happens with the stock launcher. In order to give your foreground application the best possible performance, the launcher gets dropped from RAM. 3rd party launchers can hold the homescreens in RAM if you want. This has always and will always be the case.
I use 3 screens with 5 widgets (one full screen) and several folders/icons. I rarely have it redraw but sometimes it does when you've been browsing or playing a game for a while.
Alright well, thanks guys not sure what I'm gonna do yet, might get this or might wait for One X to come to T-MO
i do not have any problems with lag?
CM9's Trebuchet launcher doesn't lag nor does Apex launcher or Nova ... try one of those
The launcher redraw issue was fixed in 4.0.4.

Anyone else come across this problem?

When ever I put the library widget on one of my home screens and set it to all it works fine at first... that is until I go to the market to download an app.
When I go to the market with that widget on a home screen the fps of the phone drips to like 2 fps. Its horrible.
The same thing happens if choose a song through the widget and play it through the play music app. The entire phone starts stuttering like crazy.
Has anyone else cone across this?
Maybe a factory reset?
I'm 100% stock jelly bean

Can anyone check this for me and confirm whether they have a problem or not please?
Add the widget to a home page and select all when it ask you what to display. Click on like a song to go into google music and come back out and see if your phone lags like crazy.
thanks
I can confirm this, when I have the library widget on my home screen, it lags the nexus 7 very badly. it happens after it updates such as a new played song .I fix it by removing and re adding the widget.

Having the same problem.
Factory reset and changing launcher to apex didn't work.
I'm not using the car connector
My nexus 7 is smooth though.
I'm gonna try getting back to 4.2.1

ok, so i downloaded the yakju ver 4.1.2 factory image and flashed it, reboot, then flashed the yakju 4.2.2.
did not uses the google account (no music, contacts, gmail, pictures, my life)
running 10 hours, no lag. will repor in 10 hours again, then sync with google account
hope ill find the solution, cous it looks like we the only 4 people on the planet that has this bug
i have this annoying lag too. Reboot solves it for a while but it will start lagging again. Changing to ak kernel doesnt work.
My N7 installed the upgrade acouple of days ago, lagged like hell until I cleared all cache then it was ok. But its back again. Trying to clear the cache again but the app is taking forever to load
I am afraid I've noticed that too two or three times. Only reboot resolves issue. It looks like a memory leak. I have never experienced that on stock 4.1.2 or 4.2.1.
Anyone found anything that could fix this?
Hello everybody, a few days back after installing stock odexed 4.2.2 I noticed some sort of stuttering when changing the desktops, I thought it was maybe a widget, the deepsleep battery saver app or a kernel problem buuuuut I did something, changed the wallpaper, the problem goes away, buttery smooth, unfortunately the problem comes back after a few hours.

Good night sleep and no lag... So next step is sync with Google account.
I'm downloading no apps, just sync the contacts and gallery.
No updating apps. I think its somthing to do with play store.
Someone suggested me to clear the cache of the stock launcher, that seemed to do the trick.

Question Photos crashing and weather widget unresponsive..

So for the first time I wanted to use the eraser tool to find the entire photos app just crashes. Anyone else?
Not only this but the large weather widget is still unresponsive to opening Google weather.
Getting pretty sick of the constant botches that seem to be happening with my 6pro. They barely fixed the poor cell signal issue.
No crashing with Google Photos or editing for me - use them both every day. But yes, the large weather widget is still unresponsive. No other issues for me, though. Luckily, I use Weawow for my main home screen's weather widget - so configurable with transparent widgets and all the info I need without clicking on it most of the time. I only use two other weather widgets on alternate home screens to see if there's a consensus between different weather services.

Just looked and my photos app has just updated today version. Version 5.76.0.425427310
Seems to just be magic eraser that crashes the app.
Weather I've given up on for now. Google support just went quiet.

I have no Photos update available for me in the Play Store - manually checked to be sure. I'm on 5.75.0.424739917. Are you signed up for their Beta program of Google Photos? Magik Eraser is working on mine without a crash. If you are signed up in their Beta program, maybe you should leave it, although it won't "downgrade" the app version immediately.
Also, tried rebooting?

No beta. Looks like it's just rolling out. Tried clearing cache and reboot and nothing.
Had Google phones every two years since Nexus 4 and the 6pro has been the most buggy and annoying of the lot.

I had the same thing happen to me.... There are reports of the Photos update crashing when trying to use magic eraser. I unistalled the update and installed the January 31st build from apk mirror and all is working again.
Im using 5.75.0.424739917 currently with no issue.
[Update: Fix rolling out] Magic Eraser causing Google Photos crashes on some Pixel 6/6 Pro devices with latest app update
It seems that the Magic Eraser feature is causing the Google Photos app to crash on Pixel 6 devices with the very latest app update.

Brilliant will try this.
Does your Google large weather widget also fail to open Google weather? This is again another bug since a recent update.
Google have rolled out am update for Photos again and looks like it's fixed.
The broken large weather widget remains however despite an update rolled out for the Google app there.

I wonder how an obvious bug like this get's through QA. Does Google even have a QA department? I mean this is not a minor bug, it's a massive, app breaking bug that renders a central function of the phone (magic eraser is one of the prime features of the P6) inoperable. Imagine a car manufacturer making an update and forgetting to check if the doors can still be opened. lmao
