any way to do this because i forgot to make a backup and i was installing a theme and it just went into boot loop please help
You have to use adb push command to push it to your SD card, or mount USB storage in recovery to put it there.
Then you can install it.

also i am getting pb311diag errors not sure if you know what that means
Just find a ROM you want to run in the Development forum, download it.
The adb command is a command line that is a part of Android SDK.

You can download the ROM you want to your computer, boot your phone into recovery, mount USB in mounts and storage, and drag and drop your ROM zip file there. Then install it like any other zip.
Make sure to clear all user data which is a factory reset, dalvik too in Advanced menu. Do this before flashing your ROM of choice.

ok, some dopey kids at my daughters school, borrowed her fire and messed around with it...
we bought it used, with TWRP 2.1.1 installed and everything was great until last Friday!
Now, from the sketchy details i can pull together they went into the 'wipe' screen and wiped every option in there for us!
kindle now boots with blue kindle text, asks us which type of boot we'd like which is where it starts to go wrong!
It either goes into TWRP, but theres no option to load a ROM anywhere.
or, it boots eventually to the yellow fire text, but hangs there forever.
I cannot get the fire to be recocognised by the pc, to allow me to put a new rom on it to allow TWRP to pick it up an install it.
any ideas guys, or is it proper dead....
PS.... i have never rooted an android device before - so nice an simple instructions please!
Naww its fine it does need a system for sure and what's there is broken and may have a mounting issue but I can't tell that for sure. Connect it to the pc, enter recovery, select mount make sure there are no checks in the boxes of system or data if so uncheck them, hit the big mount button hopefully the sdcard contents will pop up on your computer screen. Transfer this rom to the sdcard http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916 not the altrom version that is for dual booting. When finished with the transfer of the rom zip select unmount, then unplug, wipe factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe system, select install, flash rom zip then select reboot and system if prompted. Pm me if you have difficulty and I will help assist you if more is neccessary. Good luck.
Edit: If it will be some time before you get to it make sure you keep it charged a dead battery will compound the issue ten fold so leave it in recovery and plug it into the stock wall charger for storage.
super, thanks for that - I'll charge it up overnight then and give it a go....

You downloaded it to your kindle or you transferred using mount? If you downloaded it to your kindle it will be located in your download folder if you transferred it then you will need to use twrp to locate where you transferred it to. The . And the .. or up one level allows you to navigate your sdcard contents depending on your version of twrp. External storage is your sdcard so you don't want to wipe this or it will also wipe everything that have moved there.

hey so i got the rom on there like u showed me. now i want to get my kindle back to default. like no twrp no nothing. i want it just like when i took it out of the box. just EVERYTHING normall amazon OS.. no root stuff
I do not recommend it. If you make mistake you will brick it. You can use kfu option 6 for extras obtain latest update.zip then transfer this to your sdcard do a full wipe and flash it in twrp just don't wipe your sdcard. I still don't recommend it. KFU will download it and extract it do not use the extracted update.zip files just use update.zip only. At your own risk of course. For best results wipe factory/reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flash update.zip and select reboot and system if prompted.

Mount system allows cwm to write to the system folder of your phone
Some versions of cwm when cwm is flashed have system already mounted which is probably why you got away with it
If system is not mounted the zip will still appear to of flashed but nothing will of changed

the thing is in 'permanent' cwm kernels(like savie) /system won't be auto mounted therefore you'll have to mount it manually for successfull flash as cwm can't write onto an un mounted partition . The problem doesn't seem to exist with temporary cwms.
CWM Rom Manager
Hey I would just like to know! I used this then after some reading I would like to install the rom manager from Play Store. I tried it but it seems that my Galaxy Y is not supported then it asked me if I already installed one. Is it ok to also use rom manager with this method?
I already change my ROM feom stocm to cm7, then i decide to partition my memory
But sadly after i did the partition steps you provided here, i lost 2gb from my sd and i check the link2SD storage info and found 2nd partition not mount. I click cleanup 2nd partirion too but i receive error message /data/sdext2 mount not found. I tried to mount it in CWM but nothing happens, what should i do? My internal is already full now

I unlocked bootloader with windroid tool. Then I flashes twrp. Then this being my first time messing with an android in years I went and just grabbed the first rom I thought I could use, do to the fact that I had done no backup no nandroid anything so I flashed a rom and after it did it every time I tries to flash different rom because it said the rom I did first failed. So everytime I tries to do anything else with windroid it says there is a log file in the logs folder. Send this to windycity's forum so it can be tAken care of. But I couldn't find this file or where to submit the file so I thought if I just reset the phone back to factory I could restart. And after resetting it multiple times it still said, there is a log file in the logs folder send this to Windy City. So since I do still have the twrp tool that I can use I went in there and found that it has to rm -f delete everything Linux code so I did that. And since I've done that all I can do is get to bootloader and twrp. But the so is deleted. So basically nothing works. I can't figure out how to get the sd to mount or it won't mount for whAtever reason. And since the phone is wiped it won't enable USB debugging to connect to computer. I can get it to start to enable and connect for a second but not long enough for it to do anything. And I believe it's a htc evo 4g sprint. So that's the situation. The next thing I was gunn try was to go buy a mini sd card reader so I can mount it to computer and then put the rom in there. This **** is so confusing and ridiculous. I mean I can jailbreak an apple device no problem. But holy mother of God androids are the most insanely retarded phones to root. Drivers, adb, sdk...... Anyways if u can help let me know because there's a million roms and kernels out there and I don't know what build to use and how to set it up and the whole kernel process sounds confusing.
Do this. Go to the link below. Look at the second post. Go to the "Current Release" section and download either the stock rooted odex or deodex ROM, doesn't matter. Put the ROM zip on your external SD card. You can do this with the mount option in TWRP (select the mount option then select your external SD card from the menu. You should then be able to transfer the ROM zip from your computer directly to your phone), or just use a card reader to transfer the file from your computer to your SD card, then put the card back into your phone. Boot into TWRP and go to the wipe menu. Do a wipe of system, data, Dalvik & cache. Once you've done this, go to the install option, then locate the ROM zip you placed on your SD card. Flash the ROM. Once the install completes, reboot the phone. The first boot will take a few minutes so be patient. Afterwards the phone should boot to the OS.

Also, USB debugging is only useful when the phone is actually booted to the OS. It doesn't matter that it isn't enabled for your particular dilemma. If all else fails, shoot me a PM and I may have something else that can get you up and running.
