PLEASE HELP SERVICE screwed up!!!! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

OK I tried my hand at flashing my Epic 4g touch to boost from sprint. I been at it non stop for like a week. I had gotten to the poit where I could at least make calls on the device.
Then, trying to get everything working I broke the service.
I am getting an error 16 when I try to make calls.
I think I did it but I am not sure.
I used this code ##3282# that took me to the DATA Menu
Then I clicked Edit and put my MSL code in I edited the values in the HA and AAA fields from inside this menu and I think that broke it.
Attempting to fix what I broke ##scrtn# the phone and tried to start from scratch
Still getting error 16 code.
I thought I learned alot in this long hard process of trying to flash a phone but I realise I learned just enough to be stupid.
But anyway I am seriously wondering if anyone with alot of know how can help me trouble shoot exactly what I broke and how to remedy it if at all possible.
I realize that most folk around here are real busy and that theres tons of people asking for something and if no one has the time or patience to help that I understand as well. But if some good soul could find it in their heart to help me out I would be so eternally grateful.
Forgive me in advanced if this wasnt posted in the right section but i havent slept in days trying to do this.
My email are [email protected] and again I thank you whoever can come to my aide.

Lost Data connection

Hello everyone. I'll make this quick and easy question. I have successfully updated to 3.35 radio, and tried several different custom roms in the past 2 weeks... At some point, i lost my internet connection, went back to stock rom successfully, and tried entire process over with and without the new radio (depending on which rom i tried according to instructions) and still no internet. I have spent literally over 4 hours on the phone with bell (Canada) to no avail. Only other option is to beat it with a hammer. I have noticed a couple people have had the same problem.. i have read these and PPC forums for hours and hours and hours, to try and fix this and get my Data connection back. tried almost every Rom i could find... to no avail. I'm just wondering if anybody had a sound fix for getting the Data connection back working again before i go to the store i got it from and freaking out and trying to get a new phone, or sending it off for a warranty claim which they say could take 6-8 weeks. Thanks for your time.
Chow.
This happened alot when
we were changing radiios
and roms on the Titans.
Most of the time the techs had to reset the
data security on their end. If they cant figure it
out , flash back to stock
radio and rom and go to
the store and swap it
out. Tell them you did
a hard reset and lost your data connection.
Good luck.
if you have another pda phone, get your carrier to activate it on your account, set it up ... get data working ... then get your carrier to switch it back to the one that had lost it's data connection, set it up ... try the data connection ... works every time on vzw ... I do the esn changes online ... give it a try ... couldn't hurt
Fuzzy
just spent another hour on the phone with tech Support, he tried resetting the Data Security, completely removing my device from our account and putting it back on, and he also had one of his own Touch's with him, he added it to my account, and it worked fine.. still nothing on mine. Grrrrrrrr!! this is megga frustrating... its been a week 1/2 and now 5+ hour on the phone and an hour at the repair shop yesterday. he re-esclated the problem and now i have to wait again for somebody to call me. I really don't want to have it sent to HTC becuse it will take 6-8 weeks, and i truely think its something in my phone itself as a result of "playing" with it, and i'm just hoping that somebody can come up with something that I havent already tried to get it working again. Thanks for you time once again, and keeping my fingers crossed.
Go to the epst settings.
Find username and password in there ( i guess data parameters??). It will be wrong. [email protected]
change it to the right ones.
that is EXACTLY where i went a week or so ago. i found this information in another post, and the UN is there, but no password, and Bell insists there is no need for username and password... but i disagree... i also think this is the problem.. i really do... any ideas how the heck i can get what my password should be?
in teh Data parameters, the only thing that is in there is Packet Dial String ----#777 In the security section is the UN and Pass. field. Is this where you were talking about maybe?? or is there something missing in the Data Parameters section?? UN showing is [email protected]
GRRRRRR!! This really sucks.!! BIGTIME!. Ive been fooling with this thing since 6Am... lol One thing that i did forget to mention, is... when i say no data, or internet.. this is what happens..
When i try any app. that wants internet, it will bring up the connection screen, "Connecting to Data, network... #777" type thing..... sometimes it will just sit there forever and ever... if i hit cancel... then in order for me to even make a phone call, i have to soft reset.... sometimes... (about 50% of teh time) it will come up with an error screen after about 5 seconds of trying to connect, and it says "Unable to connect for an unknown reason, if you need to view or change settings, tap settings, if teh problem continues reset your device according to manufactures instructions, and try again."
I just downloaded and tried the new Sprint Leaked rom, with the 3.37 radio, and still same thing. i still think it has something to do with the Username and PW in the ##778 settings... because i do remember seing a bunch of (hex) information in the PW field in the past when i was snooping around and now its gone.... I even tried converting the two numbers that bell gave me to Hex and putting them in there... and nothing... the one that i seen in there before was a big ass long one... Anyhow... i'm almost giving up i'm soon going to get extremely angry and beat it or throw it off the 20 floow balcony just for kicks... <g> Thanks for reading.Any help is appreciated.

i am not with bell, so dont know what do they use. Maybe somebody else can confirm if they are supposed to be empty or not.
may be try empty username and password.
Then try the username you have right now and esn as your password.
i know on telus both will work.
YES YES YES YES!!!! ohhhh yeah babby!!..
i FINALLY got it working!! Yeeee hawww... if only you knew how happy this makes me... deer gawd...
I'll post what i did in the AM.. i can hardly keep my eyes open...
Thanks for all your input!
wanna share? i haven't had internet for the last three weeks and i am going nuts, tried with bell tech support for roughly 3 hours on the phone two seperate times and nothing. Please share
before i tie the phone to the back of my bike and ride around town to set an example heheh

cant get old phone number off flashed htc evo 4g to boost mobile

Hey everyone i need your help.
so i bought an htc evo 4g from craigslist already flashed to boost mobile the phone worked fine on the guy who i bought it from he gave me his boostmobile account info to transfer his phone to my acc. so i got home with the phone i transfered his account info to my boost account and now i cant get calls or anything no interenet nothing!! i look at the phone identity and it still has his number under it i called boost and they walked me through a procedure even did ##(some numbers)# to bring up a screen to put in my new number i did tht ut still nothing. it shows his number still in the phone identity im lost please help i spent 170$ and i want my phone to work some1 help me
do you know your Evo's MSL or SPC? If so, try pushing ##123456# (123456 should be your MSL) then on the pop up menu that comes up select "Edit Mode" then you need to change your MDN to your new number and you need to change the MSID to the new one too. If you already talked to Boost then hopefully you wrote these 2 numbers down. If not, call them again and tell them you switched numbers/phones and need to re-enter that info. Just tell them you need the new MDN and MSID so you do not have to sit and have them try and walk you through steps to that are not for the Evo. DO NOT tell them it is an Evo obviously. If you do not know your Evo's MSL then it is pretty easy to get through CDMA WS, pm me and I can help you with that part if necessary. Hope this helps, if you need anything else feel free to ask!
*If I have helped, please take a second to hit my thank you button*
thanks man now i need help with the internet its not working and i have no idea wat to do
Push ##33284# then select EVDO Engineering. Scroll all the way to the bottom an tell me what it says next to AN/AAA
Did you try going to settings, system updates, update profile yet? Also it can take up to 48 hours for everything to work IF it says 1- authenticated after AN/AAA
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
it says to 2=failed authentication
ive also tried up dating profile it would let me
If it says authentication failed then your AAA and HA keys are wrong. Did you get the donor phone from the guy you bought the Evo from???? If you did then it will be pretty simple to pull the correct AAA and HA keys from it.
If you do not have the donor, you might try ##786#, then hit menu then hit reset. Be warned, it will reset everything back to factory so make sure you back up anything worth saving first. When the phone resets itself, it will try to perform an OTA activation. I am wanting to say it should provision the AAA keys on its own after that (If I am wrong on this part, please feel free to step in and correct me guys)
what do i need to save to be backed up and i dont have doner phone
Dont think you can do that, tell you what I did. I bought an Evo also off ebay fixed the glass and found someone to flash it to boost. after 2 months with phone the 3g went out, tried to get help from flasher but no go, I found a guide myself and started testing, first flash success, so wanted to reflash my phone and only way to get it done was to buy a donor phone, attach it to your boost account, hook it up pull the info, reflash EVO and all done. You cant just take a phone and move it to your account, wont work.
You should have just left it the way it was, now you'll need to get a donor phone and start over, I did and doing fine now.
If you need help let me know.
Yep, I agree. If you do not have the donor, I would suggest buying a new one. Even if you do manage to fix data this time, you will have more problems later. The fact that you did not get the donor might mean the Guy is activating more than one evo with it and that means you might start getting the error 16 in the future. I have always given the donor back to the person I flashed for because I do not need it and more importantly I have no legitimate reason for keeping it.

Would this be the same steps if i call Boost and change my old number, im giving my EVO to my daughter but she doesnt want my number.
It will be the same steps as to changing the numbers in the setting once i enter the MLS???

Flashing E4GT to boost mobile, need help PLEASE. :(

I follow the steps in this thread TO THE LETTER. Now I can't get data on my phone, can't call out or anything. I started with a Sanyo Incognito, and was using it as the cloned from, and my E4GT as the cloned to.
It's really annoying. Can anyone tell me if there's something wrong with the steps, or if there is any other way that is easier? I really need my E4GT on and running.. :crying:
If by "can't call out," you means that your phone isn't able to place calls, then forget data for now. If your calls and texts aren't working as they should, then you're skipping a step or two. Something went wrong with your MEID repair... go back and make sure that it went through as intended, or do it again if needed.
Otherwise, you need to verify that your Sanyo has data and that you are extracting the correct info from it. Either way, you're probably better served re-reading the thread and posting there for more help. Good luck.
when you make a call do you get code 16 at the end of the message?
If so do this I had this same issue and it fixed it right up:
http://blog.pugetsoundelectronics.c...-code-16-on-a-flashed-boost-mobile-phone.aspx
I followed a different guide, and it didn't work at first. But in all of these guides, nowhere dis it say to input sprint ha and aaa keys into the 0 slot and boosts let's into the 1 slot. A key piece of info that they never wrote up.
So, I'm probably going to do a revamped write up on it in a few days. Since they didn't get it right.
And yeah, I got the error 16 code. It transferred me to boost, I told them I was using a Sanyo Incognito, and she fixed it right up! Just make sure you say you're using the old phone, not the new one you flashed to.

[Q] No matter what I do on my Cricket flashed S2, I still get error 16! PLEASE HELP!

First, let me start by, in advance, thanking anyone who replies to this thread. Now that the formalities are out of the way.. I can't call or text at all! I've followed, step by step, the directions from cricketusers on how to flash a touch over to Cricket. I've lost multiple hours of sleep searching thru forums and websites to find an answer to my problem. If I dial out, I get Error 16, switch 211. When I stay on the line, the messages says "thank you for calling your cellular provider, please wait for customer assistance, etc." but it always says there are too many calls, try again later. I have. Every half hour. for the last 3 days. I read the tutorial on flashing to boost, so I called my sprint rep from a different phone, they refreshed what needed to be refreshed, and nothing happened. And from reading up how to flash to boost, I am assuming you are re directed to Sprint, and not a generic message, correct? I've tried multiple PRLs and either they send me to Error 16, or they just give me the busy tone. I can recieve calls and texts all day, but can't send any out. Cricket can't use the ESN from my S2 for some odd reason either. I've tried manually programming my phone. That doesn't work either. Suggestions? Any help would be appreciated!
P.S. I am pretty sure I posted this in the right place, right? lol

did you ever figure this out im haveing the same problem and all i did was downgrade from ics to gb on my cricket phone and cricket is saying thay cant fix it that i need a new phone

[SOLVED] Share your .qcn file ?

I've been searching, following leads, tips and suggestions all over this forum and others, yet nothing has worked so far...
While trying to read my GS3 from QPST, the little progress bar stops about 25% of the way, and I get this error:
"The phone has stopped responding to memory read/write commands"
I think the NVRAM items are incomplete or corrupt. When I dump the .qcn file it's very small: around 5K.
So, I am going to ask if anyone can share their Sprint GS3 backed up .qcn file with me to recover my device?
I realize that your phone's sensitive data resides in here. Stuff related to 1X/3G and such. My promise to you is: I will not use your data and attach my device to the Sprint network. I simply need it to get beyond my current problem, that is all. I will immediately write my own data to the device, never will your .qcn see the network from here.
Please help me. It's been literally 6 weeks since this happened and I have no other recourse.
Thanks in advance.
I'd suggest just trying to find someone you know that also has a Sprint S3. I don't think anyone will be willing to upload their file for you, especially over an online forum.
Good luck.

I totally get that. It's not lost on me what info I'm asking for, thus my promise.

And that's my point. You can make all the promises you like, and I'm sure you have good intentions, but this is the internet and people just aren't gonna take the chance of risking themselves like this.

I hear what you are saying.
Having been a member here at XDA for 5 years now, I've seen how people help others and accomplish some really big things. I figured after all the frustration I have felt that someone reading this would help me out. Frankly, I don't even know if a clean .qcn image would solve my problem! But I have ODIN'd this thing several times, made sure modem matched the OS, performed factory resets galore, flashed modems in CWM, searched the wiki, youtube, ho-fo, new QPST version, new drivers, googled till blue in the face... you name it. I know with enough reading and enough knowledge the problem can be solved. The moderators always harp on not starting yet another thread when "the answers are all here... just READ" and tust me, my read/post ratio is easily 1000:1 but it never hurts to go ahead and ask.
The device responds well to QXDM, and perhaps my focus should be there. It's not bricked, and I found the MSL. The PRL is good, and it reports a strong signal, so it has to be something very small and very minor. Finding it is the key.
Even if someone dumped the .qcn from a factory reset GS3, prior to hands-free activation which contains no personal NV data. Would be helpful. I'm close to the solution for sure. Thanks for hearing me out.
Nv data is not cleared until you activate the device on a different line or network. No factory reset will wipe that data.
UPDATE: It turns out that DFS saved the day. Using version 4.6.4.1 I was able to view and update NVRAM values with no trouble. Note that DFS's log screen was kicking out messages such as ERROR and BAD_PARAM even though the result was parms written. It took some faith not to throw in the towel. It's possible the same kind of flying blind could have worked with QPST, it's just that DFS was a bit more intuitive.

Where did you go to update the QCN file in DFS?

It's likely my original assumption of corrupted NVRAM, and thus corrupt QCN was incorrect. So, I never did use DFS to update my .QCN file. Like I said, it took some faith and flying blind, but the end result was a functional GS3... Does that answer the question?

No, but I did get QPST working to find out that my modem was too updated.
Anyone share here QCN file for my Mega.. I need it now. Thanks
