Hey, everyone,
I'd really like to incorporate all of the following into my ODEX ROOT STOCK EL29 ROM (until Stock ICS, of course) -
Code:
screen off, CRT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320994
lockscreen, Transparent http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19163053#post19163053

notification pulldown, Transparent http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238079
Notification, Swipe to Remove http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483193
If anyone's got any of these on their same ROM setup, please do tell. Otherwise, if anyone's got the android prowess to help me though this over some time, it'd be hugely appreciated. I think've already successfuly installed [bak]smali. Anyway,
Thanks.
It would be so much easier if you were on a de-odexed stock rooted.

Actually, if you just flash this GB rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332837
Which is pretty much stock but tweaked and a bunch of Samsung bloatware removed, it has most if not all of those features incorporated into it. It is what I am using now.

Well most of those mods are built for deodexed systems. If staying odexed is important to you, you might want to start with a deodexed rom then do all the mods and then run the odex script that will return you to an odexed rom.

I think most of what you want will be in these two files. I don't have the time right now to odex them but you can learn how to do that by searching the forum.
Once again, these are from Calk's v3.0 GB rom which is based on EL29 stock. Please backup what you have before pushing or flashing these to your phone. If you need it, we are always here to help.
FIRST OF ALL, ALL THE CREDITS GO TO TEAM KANG, NOT ME. I AM NOT EVEN A DEVELOPER. I'M JUST A GUY WHO WANTS TO SHARE THIS AMAZING ROM.
This is the official nightly from AOKP team. Team Kang did all the work for this ROM.
Features:
Notification Toggles
Circle MOD
Overclock upto 1.8GHz
AOKP Boot animation
Lockscreen option (Volume wake, Lockscreen wallpaper, Quick Pin Unlock)
Navigation Bar customization
LED Control
Clock control
Battery Bar (MIUI Style)
Theme Chooser Built In
I will update the features if Team Kang releases new updates

Here's the link to Toro: http://androtransfer.com/?developer=AOKP&folder=toro
Here's the link to Gapps: http://androtransfer.com/?developer=Gapps
Instructions:
Download the right ROM for your phone
Download Gapps
Move them to GNex's internal storage
Boot into custom recovery
MAKE A BACKUP!
Do factory reset/wipe
Clear cache
Clear dalvik cache
Flash the ROM
Flash Gapps
Reboot
Enjoy!
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I will be glad to help. But remember that I am not the developer of this ROM...
I found this ROM to be very stable and very smooth/fast. I found little to no lag with CPU overclocked to 1.4GHz.
Enjoy and remember, I will not be responsible for any issues.
Kernels that I recommend
Also, If you're interested in another kernel (For some reason), I highly recommend Trinity Kernel, although I never tried Franco Kernel...
Here's the link to Trinity Kernel: http://derkernel.com/jb-tuna.php
My favourite are the Faux kernels...i think this is the best choice fast,stable,customizable...
I think Franco,Trinity,Fugumod have some bug and my AOKP rom isn't butter smooth with them....

It will, or should download just fine from the phone. The progress bar likely wont work and you might get an .htm file instead of .zip, just rename it.

False. The only benefit of bring codex is first boot or a clearing of dalvik-cache, and that's only for apps that are odexed. Other than those two situations, you literally cannot tell the difference between odexed and deodexed.

sorry for my mistake sir
i just curious how to odex custom ROMs
Hi!
Since I brought my Galaxy Nexus I have it rooted and I was always aware of the existance of Kernels and Roms but because stock android was always very satisfatory I've never tried to install anything more than stock roms and some themes in the phone.
Now that Google closed the doors for Galaxy Nexus and we're not getting 4.4 officially I decided to study more about those custom modifications so I need some advices and lessons
What are the best rated kernels? (I only know the name of franco kernel)
What exactly do the custom kernels do to the phone?
How can I install a custom kernel?
What are the AOSP builds? Are they different from the official 4.3 JWR66Y? In what aspects?
Odexed and Deodexed... What is the meaning of that?
How can I decompile & compile apps and/or .jar files?
What is the SMALI code?
Well, I hope you can help me with the basis of Galaxy Nexus "Tunning"

There is no best. Each one has it's fans. Just make sure the kernel fits the ROM you are planning on running, and that it covers your needs and wants.

Not trying to sound like a prick, but all of that should be very well documented at this point. By this I mean, don't be lazy and use search. Some of that is probably in the stickies above this post. Kernels, AOSP, odex vs deodex are all covered super well at this point. If you can't find information on it, you are doing it wrong.
How can I decompile & compile apps and/or .jar files?

Those are probably covered as well, but perhaps not as well as the others. Decompiling and recompiling there are tools out there, probably found in theming sections. I am unsure of what options are the best, apktool was what I used a year or so ago. Generally I don't ever have a need to decompile or recompile things.
