Home button not working or responding after restore - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I just transferred a Titanium backup of a Cyanogenmod 9 system over to a new Galaxy III phone, and everything works besides the home button.
The hardware home button seems to have no response or is not recognized.
I tried reassigning the value of the home button to back using Button Remapper just to see if I could toggle it and still nothing once pressed.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot.

I also tried using HardwareKeycode but it doesn't support the Home button. :-/

This also happened to me when I first went from Blazer to FreeGS3, for some reason the batch restore did that, but I could still wake up the phone using the home button. Just reset and don't include system data when you batch restore, worked for me

I ended up figuring out the keycode for the home button through CWM (it's 172 vs 102) but decided that traffic was really bad yesterday morning and did the reset and restore only to user apps. Works great, and made a iOS friend a bit jealous.
Thanks!

Help with Menu button not working

Since I updated to froyo, mine Menu button acts like Home button and I cant go in setup with Menu button. This cause alot of problems, cant go in apps to bring upp setup/bring up keyboard etc..
Before, sometime the Menu button will work if wait a while, its like lottery, sometime it work sometime it dont and I have already tried hardware reset/unroot to stock. Nothing works, Menu button works like Home button even in stock ROM.
Anyone got a solution, pls?
I dont really know whats wrong with it.. should be a software problem.. unless you dropped it.. anyways just in case you'd need to get onto settings do this... all apps menu/settings icon, simple but might help if you needed
Hope this help!

I do use this way to go into settings, but it wont help me if I want go into apps settings to configure the apps and I cant go into mine bookmarks in IE.
I also noticed, every time I charge mine phone, looking in aLogCat and it says "V/Notificationservice( 92): Charging for Hero..." (shouldnt it say Desire?)
I dont quit remember when this problem started, but I think it was when I rooted mine phone with "downgrade 0.92 to 0.80 and root with Unrevoked3" guide. Then I flashed Pinky Desire 1.8, but got problem with this ROM(Menu/forced closed etc..), so I flashed in Modaco r8 prebaked + a2sd+ instead and works great with this ROM. But mine Menu button problem is still there and getting worser by the time. Now it acts like Home button.
I have tried wipe data/dalvik cache reflashed/unroot back to stock froyo ROM and nothing helps.
Anyone got any idea whats going on here? Im really desperat now to get the Meny button working again, without it I feel handicap using the phone and I dont want send it in on to service. Since I had only heard bad things about the service center Anovo that Im gonna send mine phone to make the repair. So its the last step, if I cant fins any soultion with this darn Menu problem.
EDIT:
Found the culprit! It was mine 16 GB SD Card which casuing the problem! I changed back to 4GB SD Card that followed with the phone, prepared to send it in for service and suddenly Meny button worked.
But the question is, can a corrupted SD Card causing the Meny button acts like Home button?
How do I check if mine 16 GB sd card is corrupted?
EDIT 2:
OMG, is this. I format the sd card, reboot the phone and it suddenly start again. Meny button acts like damn Home button. So mine problem is not solved, the damn Meny button came back. Can it be when format, it deleted whatever files saved in sd card and made it act like this? Have tried put in another sd card, but same thing. Im out of clue now. *damn it*
Hi,
I have the same problem. My Menu button (HTC Hero 2.1) suddenly acts like home button sometimes (randomly).
Weirdly, it does unlock the screen normally (after locked by power button).
I have tried to installed various custom ROMs, reflashed with older RUU from HTC (1.5) but the problem remained.
So, i have no idea whether it's hardware (loosen maybe) or software problem.
Since Menu button is pretty important, my solution is : REMAP the button!. I assigned menu button to be home button and vice versa. Here is my /system/usr/keylayout/hero-keypad.kl :
$ cat /system/usr/keylayout/hero-keypad.kl
key 102 MENU WAKE_DROPPED
key 139 HOME WAKE_DROPPED
key 158 BACK
key 217 SEARCH
key 107 ENDCALL WAKE_DROPPED
key 231 CALL WAKE_DROPPED
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
i'm considering to swap them physically but it seems to be complicated

Because I really do not want to miss it and I don't know how to do that key mapping stuff. So please let me know what happened...

HTC Desire buttons: menu, volume down, optical joypad
Hello,
Have you found any sollution to your problems? I've got the same one. After restart few buttons don't work. Volume down and optical joypad aren't working at all, menu button acts like volume up & home button pressed at the same time.
Anyone had similar problem? Do you know a solution?
Thank you, best regards, Darek.
Desire - problems with volume up, home and menu buttons
I have sam problem with my Desire. It has been rooted for almost 2 years with LeeDroid (various versions from about 2.2, through 2.5 final up to 3.0.8 now). The problem shows randomly for few days. Volume up button, home and menu button stop working. They start working again for a while sometimes, with no known reason.
Do You know any working solution?
I tried wipe data and cache partitions, I've upgraded LeeDroid from 2.5 to 3.0.8. No luck.
For rooted phones, this is a good temporary option. It's a little ugly, but saves the day

My Home Button Broke

I did a factory reset of my A100. Now the home button doesn't respond to pressing it. I downloaded ADW launcher to see what would happen and nothing at all either..
Any ideas how to get the home button to work? I'm sure it's a setting that I am missing, since it worked before the reset.
Are you rooted? You could check the gpio file to see if key 102 is mapped to UNKNOWN or something other than HOME
I am rooted I solved the problem by putting back all my disabled apps. I also forgot to put the original build.prop back.. I did all that and redid the reset no problems..

[Q] Home button does not work!

I have looked under the settings for hours and have not found anything! Need help :/
The only way for me to get back to home is to press back a bunch of times, I can't hold the home button to pull up recent apps either.
I am new to android, or just phones in general and my friend flashed my phone with AOKP.
Any help is appreciated!
Alright guys, I was the one that flashed his phone, and he's new to forums so I'll address the problem he's having.
We live far apart so can't really fix his phone for I don't have an S3 myself. His home button was working as it should, home would exit, long press would bring up the multitasking etc.
Today randomly his phone wouldn't respond to the home button. The thing is, I told him to wipe dalivk, do a factory reset, etc. and hes able to use the home button in the recovery but not the ROM itself.
There's a huge probability that he has possibly changed the settings somewhere binding the home button to do absolutley nothing on keypress, but I am just unsure of his settings on his phone. Could anyone help out please? Thanks.
what rom?
Flash stock? See if it's working again?

what rom and launcher.
Op says its aokp.
Next thing id try is reflashing the rom.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
with CM10, you can configure what the home button does, or you can assign "nothing" to it. aokp is basically cm10 with more options, just fiddle with the settings and find that option, it should say something like "hardware keys"

[Q] Power button not working after remap

HELP! I tried this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085263) and got the nexus 4 buttons working. However, once I got to the disabling hardware buttons part, it all went to hell.
I think I may have screwed up the key map file because now my phone's power button is not working.
I can't lock the phone, I can't wake the screen.
However, once I offed the phone using an app, I can turn it on using the power button, so it definitely isn't broken.
Is there a solution to this? I don't have any warrenty and I'm freaking out!!!
Oh and yes, I've done a factory reset and no that didn't solve the issue.
Please help! Thanks in advance! :crying:

[Q] start button (HOME) at the bottom not working

hello,
since the beginning my start button (HOME) at the bottom of my GT-N5110 doesn't work.
I have the apex launcher installed and I use the menu botton (left button at the bottom) to see running programs etc.
Thanks to help me,
:crying:
Why not exchange it while in warranty.?
You can use pie control for launching recent tabs and home, menu
If you are rooted, you can use back button also using pie control or LMT

Thanks Pakure, but I'm almost convinced that it isn't a hardware issue. Did Apex change some parameters?
Ideally I should do a hard reset to verifie, but first I will try to find out the underlying cause...
nope... it wont change anything... what happen when you push the home button?

Probably a hardware defect

indeed, it's a hardware defect, did a hard reset and the problem persists, will return it back to the shop...
