Did I hose my Sprint Gnex radio? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Here's my situation, I'm in the Dallas area, and have never seen a 4g connection.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my stock ODIN'd image, after having a JB ROM for a bit.
Thinking (first mistake) I muck up the radio I flashed FD02:
fastboot flash radio radio-LTE-FD02.img
fastboot flash radio-cdma radio-cdma-FD02.img
The Baseband/Kernal/Build look fine to me (?), [Screenshot attached].
And
In Settings/ More / Mobile Networks, I still have LTE/CDMA.
So, here's what looks strange, in Phone info (Dialer>*#*#4636#*#*> phone information> ) , under:
Set Preferred Network Type:
Here are the options (i.e. no LTE options) :
WCDMA Preferred
GSM Only
WCDMA Only
GSM auto (PRL)
CDMA auto (PRL)
CDMA only
EvDo only
GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
Unknown
Question - Shouldn't there be an LTE/CDMA (prl) and LTE Only option?

Weird. Mine reads the same thing. I have been trying to find the FG01/FG01 files because that was the baseband before flashing a new rom. I'm You think the radio has something to do with it because the FG01 is supposed to be the latest version?
Either way, I have been trying to find these files and when I do nothing works or I'm directed to nothingness.

Here is the latest , now up to FG01:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776755
1) download the .zip, put on sdcard
2) go into CWM or recovery
3) select install from .zip
Verify with settings - About

Thanks but none of the four files work. When I click on them I get a popup with Download and Play now.
Clicking on either one opens another window with the same thing.
Were you able to get the file?

[Q] Unable to make or receive calls

Hi,
Last night I rooted to Android Revolution HD™ 2.1.5 on my GSM Galxay Nexus, the procedure was the same as always nothing strange happened.
But since then I am unable to make or receive a call. I have tried going back to stock rom but still suffer from the same issue.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

did you wipe data/cache/dalvik when you flashed the stock rom? and did you try restoring factory images from google (includes recovery, kernel and radio).

Re-flashed the rom after a complete wipe. No Effect
Flashed Gummy. No Effect
Flashed just radio-maguro-i9250xxkk1.img from ITL41F. No Effect
That is when I took it all the way back to ITL41F and let it update to ICL53F OTA.
But still no effect.
I really am at a loss.
Did you make a backup before flashing the rom?
Can you text from it? Or browse the internet without using wifi?

Yeah, I have tried to revert to the backup.
Also I can browse on 3G and also text. But as soon as I try and call it times out, and I never receive incoming calls.
EDIT: P.s. Thank for the on-going ideas.

Phone number is there, -67dBm 23 asu Signal Strength
Only thing that looks odd is Mobile network state - disconnected
Does your IMEI number show up?
Try manually selecting a mobile network in the settings. Or dial *#*#INFO#*#* in the dialer. Then click phone information. Press the : button (aka menu) to change the radio bands to USA. (or Auto)
I stole this from another thread.... See if it works
Still no luck.
I think it might be time to clean wipe to stock again and RMA.
Hello, new to the forum, and new to rooting. Any help would be appreciated and hopefully I will be able to return the favor to others down the road!
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus and just unlocked and rooted it Wugs toolkit. I flashed the Android Revolution 2.1.5 ROM following the developers directions however I am having the same problem as xxyondoxx. After flashing the ROM I have no cellular or data connection. Under "About Phone" my phone number does not show up, no network, no IMEI number. Wireless works.
I restored back to the nandroid back-up I created before flashing the Android Revolution ROM and everything is working fine.
How can I get a data connection after flashing the Android Revolution 2.1.5 ROM? Now that I am unlocked and rooted I would like to be able to further customize.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Baseband Unknown, Signal Drops

Hi, i'm from Brazil and i have a Gnex from UK, and it's unlocked.
When i was at 4.0.2, everythings ok, but after the OTA update to 4.0.4, i'm having some problems if the data is turned on, and the option 'only 2g' is checked the signal is good, but if the data is turned on and i have 3G connection the phone lose signal, and baseband shows Unknown.
My Gnex is Yakju, and i have flashed the 4.1 (JRN84D) from here with baseband I9250XXLF1 and 3.0.31-ge8de0e2 kernel ( on the post shows that's a stock kernel ). And the problems still here.
More info about my Gnex on fastboot mode:
Product Name: Tuna
Variant: Maguro
HW Version: 9
BootLoader: PRIMEKK15
Baseband: I9250XXLF1
Sorry for my bad english, but i can't use 3G connection and i need to recive emails, etc
If anyone can help me, thanks!

I'm not 100% sure but I think your kernel maybe be the Developer preview kernel, the official is 3.0.31-g6fb96c9, you could try flashing that? It's what I'm running with 4.1.1 and it works fine.

No, when de signal is dropped i had to take battery out from phone, wait 5 or more minutes than put it back! If i put it back before i have the baseband unknown message on Config > About Phone. And this happens only if i have 3G signal, i see many people saying about signal issues after OTA to 4.0.4 and if i still with "only 2g" selected i don't have signal drop or disable the data, then i don't have any problem
Thanks for help

If it's the status 7 error it's because OTA's require stock everything I think, including recovery.

Not sure if it will fix the problem, I think it's in the kernel you have as that's where WIFI is managed, however you could try and if that doesn't work change the kernel.
Instructions on how to update to official 4.1 are here however if you want to then accept the OTA afterwards when following Method 1 do not delete/rename /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and CWM will be overwritten by stock and you should be able to accept OTA's.
Note: If you don't want to lose your data then you could try skipping the "Wipe data/factory reset" step but do that at your own risk, I skipped it and it works fine though.

a "different" kinda phone problem(?)
I looked through most all of these forums and couldnt find anyone with the problem im having. Not sure if it's me or what...
My problem is that when I flash some roms, my phone doesnt work. (yes im on sprint and only using toroplus). Well, yesterday, for most of the day, everything on my phone worked. When I got up this morning, It hadnt charged, and I lost my dialing again. Some ROMs I flash start off. When I go to settings> about phone> status under "Network" it says "unknown" and under "service state" It will say "no service" then checking on "Moblle Network State" It'll say "unknown"", sometimes my phone number shows up, sometimes it doesnt, Most times I cant make outgoing calls and when anyone calls me, it does a half ring and directs my callers straight to my voice mail. Is anyone having this problem too? And if so, how did you fix it? It frustrates the hell outta me and I think I should just go back to ICS although I dont want to. HELLP!!! :-/
Thanks,
Ridge
P.S. I forgot to mention that Im on a Sprint phone and that Im running Houng81's AOKP Aug1 version Baseband: fg01, the kernel that came with the ROM, Ive even replaced them a few times and nothing does any better. Forgot to add this to my prior text LOL sorry, that just gave me away as a n00b huh? HEHE

Doing the OTA might solve it since it will update (i think) your bootloader to lc03, you still on kk15. If it doesnt, use fastboot and update manually. To run an OTA with cwm installed, you need to download the update.zip from dev section for the OTA you want to run, but do it through cwm (like flashing a custom rom).

[Q] Can't Connect to Mobile Network after Custom ROM Flash

Hi all, so I'm in quite the predicament. I can't seem to reestablish a mobile connection via Verizon at all since I've overwritten the stock ROM with Cyanogen. I have Inc2, now loaded with CM7, awaiting some help.
First I unlocked the bootloader and flashed CWM Recovery.
Next I flashed Build 4 CM10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934288 <--check it out here.
I couldn't establish any network connection whatsoever. So i wiped and flashed CM9 with the hopes it would be more stable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932573 <--again check that one out.
Again, no network connection. Lastly, I reverted to CM7 (because it was the last stable release directly from Cyanogen). http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/index.php?title=Vivow_Info <--looky here.
I've searched far and wide, trying everything possible. From simply switching on/off airplane mode to manually typing in the Verizon APN. I just can't establish network connection now...and the kicker - I forgot to backup the stock ROM so I'm currently stuck. Please help
This thread may be of some help. Didn't do me much justice however. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691017
Bumping. Somebody please help...Also if anyone has a stock ROM they could share, that'd do fine as well. I'm curious if stock ROM would re-enable the radio (if that's the actual problem).

Have you tried changing your mobile network? Settings > more> network mode
Been there. You can try different radios from here, but BE CAREFUL. Take the following precautions:
Because you're on Verizon, only download 'x.x.01.xxxx' radios.
After putting the ZIP file on the SD card, verify the MD5 hash to ensure the file didn't get corrupted during download or during transfer to the SD card.
Plug the phone into your charger before installing. You don't want it shutting off during install.
Don't flash the same radio that your phone already has installed.
If all else fails, try the stock 2.3.3 RUU from HTC. If you can find a working download link to that, please share.

I've tried everything in the books. Manually setting my APN according to the Verizon settings. Also did trial and error booting and rebooting each network type to no avail.
A few things I noticed in the CM9 ROM (maybe bugs?):
The preferred network mode typically defaults to GSM/WCDMA upon reboot
The APN I create often disappear upon reboot.
Mobile Networks>Network Operators will either search endlessly or sometimes find both AT&T and T-Mobile as options, both of which won't actually connect as I have a Verizon SIM.
And in response to Slinkwyde:
To verify the MD5 hash, what needs to be done more specifically? (I'm learning as I go ) Did flashing a radio do the fix for you? I'll try this suggestion and post results.

Yes, flashing a radio worked for me. The simplest way would be to use an MD5 checker app. Use the app to make sure the file on your SD card matches the MD5 value given in the radio thread I linked to.
One more precaution: Don't ever flash the same radio version that your phone is already using. That caused problems with the original Incredible and might also cause problems with the Incredible 2. To see what radio version you have, go to Settings and look around in About phone, Phone info, or something to that effect. "Baseband" is another word for radio.

Short version: For Verizon, you want CDMA with EvDO.
Longer overview: CDMA vs GSM, and what it means for the Incredible 2
Verizon Wireless and Sprint use CDMA. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. CDMA is popular in the United States, but around the world GSM is far more common. All GSM phones use SIM cards, but most CDMA phones don't. The two kinds of CDMA phones that do have SIM cards are world phones (phones with both CDMA and GSM) and LTE phones (faster data speeds).
The Incredible 2 is a world phone (without LTE) and comes with a Vodafone SIM for overseas travel. This Vodafone SIM also has Verizon Wireless branding on it. The Verizon Wireless company is jointly owned by Verizon and Vodafone, a European carrier based in the UK. Verizon world phones have to be unlocked to use AT&T or T-Mobile, because Verizon doesn't want their customers switching to a competitor.
SIM cards make it easy for GSM users (not you) to use their carrier account in another phone. They can just swap the SIM. For CDMA carriers (such as Verizon), swapping service to a different phone requires contacting the carrier.

You don't need the sim card at all then, you're CDMA. If you're not on it already i would recommend flashing the latest ics firmware, it can be found in the ICS leak ROM thread posted by nitsuj17 , it includes the newest radio

Note that he's specifically suggesting that you install the ICS firmware. You don't have to install the ROM.

Okay so what you both are suggesting are to just install the firmware, assuming I am already running the CM9 ROM? Because the firmware includes the radio. And this is done by renaming the firmware to PG32IMG and flashing it through hboot? Would this be an easier course of action than installing a radio alone? My phone is S-ON and if I'm correct, S-OFF needs to be active to install a radio.
Yes, you can install the firmware to get the radio, and the file name needs to be PG32IMG.zip for hboot. S-OFF is generally required for this sort of thing, yes.

Thanks so much guys, you've been more than helpful. Now to get some work done...I'll post results either tonight or tomorrow once I've finished. Wish me luck!
Put the battery cover back on. It'll instantly drop sig. when not installed.

I'm currently trying to downgrade Inc2 so I can S-Off in order to flash either new firmware or radio. I am following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726134 and cant seem to download the necessary RUU 2.3.3 for Inc2. It seems as if the downloads link is dead. Can anybody link to such a file? I cant seem to find one anywhere.
EDIT: Found a stock (or as close to stock I could find) ROM for INC2 >> http://d-h.st/I2g
Also, I may have a potential reason as to why I'm having this ***** of a problem. I originally unlocked bootloader using the HTCdev tool. At the time it was my understanding that the process did not matter as long as the results were the same. However it seems now that using their tool makes it so you can't flash radios and need to extract and separately flash ROM kernels. So does this mean flashing any of the CM ROM's I tried never included the radio portion?
Just stabbing at ideas. Feel free to verify/call me out.

Roms NEVER include a radio, its always separate. something weird has happened to you, I'm sure flashing new radio would fix it for you but you're dev unlocked which is gay Lol. When you flashed the cyanogen ROMs did you pull kernel and flash like you were supposed to, if not i can't believe you got it to boot but that may be a problem also.

If it helps, here is the process that I have used every time I flash anew ROM, working every time (excluding the radio of course.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujFWZbgj6bY
Because I HAD (I actually just reverted back and am currently getting S-OFF to flash a radio) the HTCdev unlock, I manually booted the boot.img after entering recovery and wiping/formatting all the necessary things. Skimming the video might give you a better idea.
However I'm now hoping S-OFF will allow me to reroot, flash CWM, CM9, and of course a radio. Currently in the process of trying to run Revolutionary.

T-Mobile Band 12 Access is working - Project Fi

Hi Everybody,
this is my first post, if it's been mentioned somewhere else on this forum, than I apologize about it.
I got my nice shiny Nexus 5X last week and I have immediately realized, it does not connect to B12 on T-Mobile. I saved some network logs on My old Motorola Nexus 6 and on my new 5X and it was clearly blocked. This phone should work on B12 right out of the box, therefore the immediate OTA update was suspicious for me. I was right, it was not only a monthly security patch, they have also "downgraded" the base band for us, just because a FCC approval is missing (911 access on T-Mobile's VoLTE), however on Project Fi we have E911... We still should have a Project Fi specific firmware until FCC approves T-Mobile's application...
I have downloaded the very first official ROM (MDA89E) and extracted the radio and flashed with ADB on my device. It is working flawlessly with the latest "I" firmware and MOST IMPORTANTLY I DO HAVE B12 on my phone.
If you'd like to try it, please do it. Remember, I'm not responsible for any damages, flash it if you exactly know what you are doing...
The radio(baseband) version what I flashed on the latest MDB08I is: M8994F-2.6.22.0.56
If it's worked for you, than do not hesitate to hit the "Thanks" button
Update on 12/07/2015:
The New MMB29K 6.0.1 update has a new radio, which is finally T-Mobile B12 compatible. (radio-bullhead-m8994f-2.6.30.0.68) Looks like Google and T-Mobile silently "solved" the issue. There is still no official announcement...
Just did this and got Band 12.
Thanks!
Did you use fastboot to flash the radio.img file?

yes I did (fastboot flash radio radionamexxxxxxx.img ) For example I renamed the radio file to "radio_old.img" than the right command will be:
fastboot flash radio radio_old.img
you have to run the command prompt with administration right and most importantly you must have an UNLOCKED bootloader
Thanks! Nice discovery!
Will B12 work even when I'm just a normal TMobile user or is this limited to Project Fi subscribers?

It's not limited. Since Marshmallow the firmware supposed to be universal for everyone in the same market.
It will work just fine for T-Mobile users, I'm 100% sure.
Wait, so you're saying it has Band 12 out of the box, but that first OTA update you get after starting it up eliminates it? I knew I should not have installed that.

Correct, and you do not even have chance to eliminate it. At the very first power on cycle the system will install it once you set up your WiFi network.... It will immediately download this "update"

It immediately downloads it, but it does not install it until you tell it to, at least in my case.
I just flashed the radio and the LTE discovery was telling me I'm on B4. I covered the phone to lower the reception and it switched over to B12. Thanks!
I don't suppose someone can upload a flashable zip for this radio? I'm at work in a concrete building and would really really like to see if I will benefit from this.
Thank you!

I can not upload it anywhere at this moment. The max size what I can upload to XDA is 20MB
Please extract both files, than open it again in 7Zip or similar and you will have the radio image file. (XDA does not allow to upload files with "strange" extensions)
I hope it helps

I must be doing something wrong, I still get a bad file error. I'm using esfile with 7zip extension. I cannot do this on my work comp. its locked down pretty good..
Thank you for all your efforts, but I'll wait till I get home and flash via fastboot .
Slightly off topic, but under Wireless & Networks → More... → Cellular networks, do you have the option of "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" either before or after doing the downgrade to the radio firmware? Trying to figure out if the absence of this option is an issue with the ROM, radio firmware, or my carrier.
I have good B4 reception but I can kick it over to B12 every now and then.

I do not have this option , I have not seen it earlier. I checked my wife's 5X, which is stock and updated to the latest firmware and There is no "Enchanced 4G LTE Mode" as well.
Forgot to mention: We are on Project Fi

Fi is VoLTE?
If so, what options do you have to toggle it off?

But I don't want stock radios, right? I have an unlocked 10 that I am trying to make work with Verizon's radios without converting it to a Verizon phone.

OK it sounded like you wanted to get back to fully stock.
So you flashed the VZW radios and it stopped working? Not sure what steps you followed but the procedure is detailed in this thread and includes steps to reset your modems, which you will probably need to do to get things working properly.

NO. I bought an unlocked HTC 10 phone brand new. I updated the phone, flashed the verizon radios, s offed and all that jazz. It is still an unlocked phone, but it worked with verizon's radios for several months. Yesterday, I factory reset the phone because people told me I wouldn't need to reflash the radios so I reset the phone and now my data does not work (i.e. the radios aren't working). Not sure what I need to do to fix it.

No data does not necessarily equal radios not working. It could be a settings thing, especially after a factory reset.
Again, have you looked at the thread I linked you, including the OP which tells you how to enter the "secret menu" of the dial pad? Reset your modems?

Ok IDK how to reset modems, but I did check the secret menu before making this thread; I failed to mention it. The preferred network type is LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto (PRL) and the thread says "CDMA/EvDOGSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto". I do not see this option. Last night I went to sunshines live chat support and talked to beaups, but he sounded confused with my situation. Perhaps I was not explaining it clear enough. How do I get this "radio" to appear in the drop down box?

Steps for resetting/wiping your modem settings are in the thread I linked you, from the thread do a search for 'modemst1' and you'll see it.
Other than that not sure what else to suggest, but you're probably better off asking in that thread and perhaps @dottat can help you.
