Call echo on Aokp vs Touchwiz roms - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I'm not a developer by any means but I noticed people on touchwiz roms don't seem to complain about call echo problems like they do with Aokp and Cm roms. Couldn't the phone script and speakerphone script be copied from the touchwiz roms to the Aokp roms? Wouldn't that eliminate call echo problems with Aokp and Cm roms? Please don't kill me I'm just curious.

I don't know much either but I guarantee it's more complex than that.

Exactly. Sound is built from source in AOSP ROMs, a lot more tricky.

Also when dealing with stock like touchwiz and Sense, everything is built around that framework and cannot easily be used on anything else.

Got it thanks for the info. I didn't think it was that easy or it would've been done but I was just curious

Anyone got any recommendations for a good 3G Hotspot app? Don't care if it requires the tethering plan from the carrier or not, since work pays for it anyway.
Any clue if this one has the low incall volume that the other aosp Roms seem to all have? I love a nice clean gb that has been the only thing holding me back from making them my dd

The WiFi Tether app listed there works for me once I apply the settings listed in the OP. I'm on unbloated gingersense though, you may not need those settings for it to work. I'd try it with the default settings first (those worked for me when I ran CM7) and tweak from there. You may have play around with it a bit.

[APP] Suntrust Mobile doesn't work on AOSP

It seems that the text box and background colors of the suntrust mobile app are wrong on AOSP roms which prevents you from viewing any information after logging in. The colors are correct on Stock based roms and the app works correctly. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It works on my t-mobile sgs2 with embryo 6.2 i especially like the deposit check feature. try Embryo it's def a dd no issues except call echo on the reciever end of that call, but untill they fix the kernel echo will exist. Btw its a skyrocket rom with added t989 rotation fix and T989UVLI1 RADIO , I Love it....

Camera and Gallery from 4.2

This was posted up for the GNex guys but I figured everyone with a rooted phone would appreciate it. Everything works except photosphere, and I must say the new way of accessing options is on the fly fast. This is s great improvement. Enjoy!

Working photosphere
I haven't tested yet, but im about to flash it
edit: ok it works if you make the edits to the build.prop as mentioned in that thread. Thing is i think the sensors might be a little screwy on our phone. I'm running paranoid 2.5 and its a little off. Don't know if its the rom but its off
Everything else works great though
I edited my build.prop and flashed this, it looks like a great idea but it doesn't seem to like the gyroscope in the E4GT very well. Everything is backwards.

I flashed the patched version (works on any phone with a gyro without editing build.prop) from Android Police. http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...gallery-app-with-new-ui-editing-photo-sphere/
It works fine, and the panorama mode loads and starts to work. However, my gyro is all over the place. left is up, right is diagonally off somewhere, etc etc. I wonder if this is unique. Did / can someone try it out and see if the gyro works right on our device?
So is this worth installing?

Yep, same problem here. Up is left and down is right, left is up and right is down. It's like it uses portrait movements when in landscape mode, etc.

No. Don't worry, its safe to flash. Its just that when you edit your build.prop the xda app picks that up and puts it in your sig lol I don't have a gNex lol

Oh ok haha thanks! Interesting that it did that
Every app reads the build.prop to see what the model is. Since we changed it to say Galaxy Nexus instead of SPH-D710, the XDA app reads the phone as a Nexus. Not very complicated at all.

ROM help...decisions, decisions.

OK, I'm currently running CM 10.2 Linaro build and I love it but there's a few quirks that are gradually becoming irritating. I want to try a new ROM and I'm having a hard time choosing. Right now, I'm looking at Dirty Unicorns and ReVolt. I have a few things I need to know before giving either a shot though. Are there any known issues with either? Like, MAJOR issues? Like MMS/GPS not working, stuff like that. Also, before flashing CM 10.2, I flashed the Google camera and I kinda regret it, photosphere doesn't work AND I'm stuck at 8mp.
Any other ROM suggestions are welcome. I've also ran beanstalk before too

Droidmk has a Slimbean build on his Dev-Host. Haven't tried the new AOKP-based ROMs (Carbon, Dirty Unicorns, Revolt, etc) because I actually don't like their set of options versus CM's set of options, but they may have gotten better performance/battery wise. Super Nexus 4.3 is good. MMS worked on almost everything I've tried, so there's that. Dunno about GPS though, I don't use it.
Edit: Also, don't forget about our 4.2.2 ROMs as well. I know they are old and still have the camera focus issue, but the performance and battery is WAY more worth it than 4.3. At least, to me it is.

Super Nexus 4.2.2 had some MMS issues; some MMS would come in, sometimes they wouldn't. And Super Nexus 4.3 has the nasty SMS bug where texts wouldn't send over 160 chars, and the SMS zip fix didn't work for me.
I edited my post right before you posted so maybe you didn't see what I added, but don't forget about the 4.2.2 ROMs. Despite being old, they perform extremely well aside from the camera bug. I wish I could get the same battery life out of 4.3 like I could with 4.2

Another option for the not splitting after 160 chars is to just use a 3rd party sms app. I know that go sms has an option that will manually split the text for you

My MIUI experience. Pros/Cons

Well, I brought myself to removing my CM10.2 and trying the MIUI ROM. It was a very slick, very smooth ROM. I overall enjoyed it. But with it being a ROM of course it had a few minor bugs. And I did have a few dislikes. So I'm gonna list a few things I personally noticed about it. Fell free to post your thoughts and any resolutions to anything I'm gonna lay out.
PROS:
-a smooth, soft feeling touch that was full of color and a very nice setup. The was miui was set up in settings for example was on of a kind. I was not disappointed. The theme app that was there gave me full control of changing the status bar, lock screen, home screen, etc. You have full control of customization. WiFi also seemed to work just fine.
CONS:
- Sadly, my LTE didn't appear to work. I tried adjusting my setting to fix it. No avail and that kinda was frustrating. But with WiFi working it didn't pose to much of a issue. I also experienced to apps for my gallery, and I was unable to delete it because it was a system app. Some of the themes I downloaded froze my phone, causing me to remove my battery and restart my phone. I wasn't bothered by it to much, I'm rather used to having to do that with previous phone.
Over all if you like a fresh and fast ROM you will love MIUI. But with these few issues I went back to cm. As I need my LTE cause my phone is also a work phone and I need the fastest internet I can get. So feel free to post your thoughts on MIUI and any fixes. Because I would like to switch back and continue using MIUI.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
LTE works you just have to select it in settings when you first flash the rom because it doesn't default on. Reason there are 2 galleries is because MIUI has its own gallery and since we have to use 4.2 camera it comes with its only gallery also hide one in a folder if you dont like one. And theme issue I've never experienced this

I love the visual development compared to all other ROM.
Looks great.. but I'm still in love with AOSP.
Right out of the box, I think MIUI looks a lot like ios . Maybe too much.
It is a great ROM though, and very user-friendly.
Could I see a screen shot of the phone? Keypad, in call. These are things people over look, but this is our phone is it not? For most if not everyone on here, the only phone they use.
