A good modem for CMX? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Would anyone have any suggestions to which radio to use for CMX? I had tmo note radio which works good except callers complain about muffle. Then I tried Blaze 4G which seems to run slower especially watching videos.

The muffle isn't caused by a radio. It's cause you don't have noise suppression checked in phone settings

How well your radio works depends on your location. Muffeled voice is a ROM issue. Is noise suppression checked?

VOIP

Has anyone had any success using Groove IP in conjunction with Google Voice to substitute the lack of wifi calling availability with CM9 or any other AOSP ROMs and if so, how was the quality of the calls?
Looking for ideas, any suggestions are appreciated.
Not using GrooveIP but I used the built-in SIP to connect to my Callcentric VOIP account and it works perfectly.
I did that when I had my nexus s.. it will work but grooveip always has a call delay.. it gets quite annoying.

I use groove as well. And yes I have the delay but is it groove or is it Google voices servers?

I have been useing groove IP for a little over a year now, only when im poor and can't afford my obscenely high att bill. Have experienced no problems on ICS AOKP milestone 6 w/siyah kernal.

Its groove having the delay. Google voice just transfers the calls between services.

Hmm It's primarily because when I go to the coast to visit my Mom, her hurricane proof house with nearly bullet-proof windows and plaster/block walls seem to give me little or no signal, in the past I've just used the wifi-calling on T-Mobile based ROMs. I'm loving CM9 and gave GrooveIP a try today with Gvoice and it seemed to work great. It's only for a few hours a day each week but it always seems to be right when I have a critically important call come through and it drops, over and over without the wifi calling
Thanks for the suggestions I'll stick with this and see how reliable it is..

Delay is annoying, small price to pay to avoid big bills..or not paying at all. It would be nice to see a better option tho...please let me know if you find anything better.....

Increase bluetooth volume and quality

Is there anyway to get louder bluetooth volume on a phone call and better quality.. I had the sammy victory 4g and volume was crazy loud and quality of sound was amazing for a cheap low end phone

Anybody have a clue

havent really noticed any issues on my lg tones, jambox or my bt head unit....what are you connecting to?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I am using a blue parrot headset.
I'm using a Plantronics Voyager Legend and the volume does seem a little low even at maximum. It can be a bit staticy sometimes as well. Neither issue is so bad as to be annoying though. I had thought that the issue was with the Plantronics, but I suppose it's just as likely that the problem is with the Note. I haven't searched for a solution yet.

I have tried my headset with my wifes gs3 and my old phone photon and it is crazy louder with those phones, then I connect if back to my note2 and the voice prompt and commands are loud but when on a phone call isnt nearly as loud....

Silly question...but did you turn it up? I think there is a setting that adjusts in call volume to a lower level by default
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I've seen the same thing. Its a software thing because on Jellybomb 5.1 the volume us definitely louder but still not loud enough. My same BT headset was much louder on my Evo and is much louder on my WP7.

Ya I just wish I was smart enough to figure it out I have tried multiple Bluetooth headsets and all them get quiet when you start taking but use thm on other phones and are louder
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Any super smart developer that can figure this out there has to tweaks somewhere to increase the max volume
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
I would Definitely say its a problem with the note. The volume is way low on a call. I use a Moto hx550 and my GS3 worked great with it.
I have been following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931970
and tried the tweaks by editing manually, but it didnt help bluetooth volume. So I'm either not tweking the right volume values or there will have to be another solution found. Its frustrating, but hopefully something will come out of one of these threads...
I have an issue with my Note 2 Bluetooth quality as well. Using Motorola Elite Silver. Seems to be perfectly fine with playing music and as soon as I initiate a call the quality degrades their voice breaks up as well as mine. Works fine with other devices, currently have tried on a couple different ones in the Sprint store I work at.

What rom/kernel are you running? If its a tw rom with a compatible kernel you could try STweaks.
It has an option to increase standard volume limits.

Hmmm, its got to be rom related then. If your headset works fine on a different phone, then thats all thats left. There is one last option for you
I use a jawbone icon I got fron ebay.
What really made the difference for me...jabra ear gels. They look crazy! But they hold inside the ear without a hook. An it tunnels the sound dramatically. $6 for a full set left and right.
Honestly bud, this made night and day difference! Sadly their not available in any store anymore. But online everywhere!
If sound is this much an issue for you. I would say the $6 is worth a try.

There should really be a VLC-like setting on all ROMs that allows you to go above 100% on bluetooth volume if you choose to.

BT sound quality issues

Wondering if anyone else is having issues with bluetooth sound issues during calls with the S3?
Since getting my S3 I have tried 2 different BT headsets Jawbone Era and a Plantrantics M165. Both I get people telling me that it sounds horrible.
I'm hopeing someone else has seen nthis and knows a fix.
Thanks
Jesse
I have a blueant q2 and it works perfectly no quality issues also what rom are you using stock?? That might be the issue.

Issues with wifi calling

Hi there
Recently I've been having a lot of issues with wifi calling. I haven't been able to receive any calls directly go somewhere voicemail and when I try to call somebody it says the call cannot be made at the moment
This really sucks because I got really bad cell phone reception in my house I was really thinking of using this as my main way of getting calls in my house
Is there any way to fix it or maybe troubleshoot it in anyway
By the way I'm running tweaked rom on my device

Has it always been like this (both in general and on the rom)? If not, any recent changes/tweaks/flashes/updates/installs that coincide with when you notice the decreased wifi calling ability?
Hmmm I think back now the issues started right after I rooted the device

Meaning they started on stock after all you did was root it? Interesting... I use it pretty often and haven't noticed any big difference between pre- and post- rooted. Maybe flash back to stock, test it out, and if all is well try again? That's what I would do anyway.
Most likely you are having these issues only when the phone has weak/poor wifi signal, can you confirm ?

[Q] Earpiece not working, volume tweaking!

Well I noticed that my earpiece quit working on the N2 today and my volume goes down all on its own... any ideas? It was dropped bu only like 18". Its taken many falls in the past with no problems...
[EDIT]
SO, I am not so sure its a fall thing... It fell at about 2pm and I have made and received calls SINCE then just fine... It's degenerative. Examples: First, I could not hear out of the handset earpiece... but people could hear me. Now, a few hours later, they can also NOT hear me which indicates the phones mic is not working... IF I turn on Speaker Phone, it works fine and I can communicate just great with anyone/everyone... also works with my car hooked up to Bluetooth just fine... So, could the Tweaked ROM I am running be screwing with something? Should I just try to flash another ROM and see what happens? I have already tried the last modem and the newest modem, both which had no effect on the situation... Any info would be greatly appreciated!
I would try another ROM to see because I am having somewhat similar issues with no drops at all. I had this in TOUCHWIZ and it was bad. But when I switched to PAC-rom I have different volume issues. Certain (newer I believe) headphones play either double out the phones as well as my integrated speaker and once I had the volume phreak out going up and down inadvertently.
I just love my ROM sooo much that I am dealing with it for now. PAC-rom 4.3 JB nightly updates on Galaxy note 2.
