[Random] Awesome Stock CPU usage - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I wasn't able to screenshot the browser using 70% of the cpu but anyways you may wonder what was I doing. How do you get your browser to use roughly half of the cpu? Well first you start off by closing 5 of the 7 tabs you have open. Now what's so special about the two tabs that I have open? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I refuse to believe that browsing PhoneArena and a paused YouTube video will cause this. Anyways, just wanted to share and show others they aren't the only ones out there who has this problem...if they have this problem...

I'm pretty sure there's a memory leak somewhere either in either the OS or the UI since I've been able to do the same with the Facebook app and Andoku II.

Full Screen Pop-Over Ads...

Are full screen pop over ads going forward the new norm on xda? If so i guess we just have to live w/ it, but ads like this are incredibly annoying...
Happened to me the first time I logged in today but thats it.
I've gotten it on my phone and on my computer the last few days...
Are you talking about accessing xda on a laptop or on a phone's browser/app? Its happened to me viewing the web version from my phone. Really annoying.

I have seen this on so many tech sites lately. I am just doing the nasty thing and using ad-block for chrome. I wouldn't use it if the ads weren't as intrusive but these are just silly.
You are using chrome.. is there no AdBlock-Addon??
Never seen that

All the forum sites are using pop up ads, flash, etc. these days, and it freezes the browser momentarily at times.
That's why I use Tapatalk-based Android apps like this one.
Too bad I can't see all the fancy signature blocks, etc. but I can see & reply to messages quickly.

We are not choosing to put pop-over ads on XDA. If you see them, please screenshot them and send it to "svetius".
Full screen ads on my Gingerbread Nook Color are a total fail! I usually don't mind ads, but this is going too far.

Yeah, this totally sucks, and could be a reason for me to not visit XDA. When I'm viewing this on a phone, it's ridiculously tedious to close the damn thing down on a small screen.

Anyone using LookOut on their SGSII?

Just curious who else is using the LookOut app?
I've been using it on my past three devices, Galaxy4G, LG G2X and SGSII...seems pretty cool... I don't know... what do you all think?
1. Curious how much system resource it uses to be running in the background constantly?
2. How much does it really effect the battery?
3. Is it worth even having?
Pros:
I like the locate, back up and scan features.
i use it, also for the location (in case i lose it) and it scans my apps (i dont know if it actually makes a difference)...but it doesnt seem to lag my phone at all and there is no noticeable battery drain
that is the first thing i removed from the stock ROM
Can you list the reasons why?

on my old phones, it slowed them down, in this phone i don't think it will make any speed difference
but we are safe, and i see no reason to use it
if you just wan GPS tracking, the build in Google Maps feature have it
and there are tons of other phone retrieval apps that consumes less resources than look out, and can be activated with SMS
also look out is extremely annoying as they keep spamming you with junk mail for as long as you are using their app

What app do you use most

Shush! Is a an app that silences your phone for a certain amount of time. Say if you're going to class for an hour then you can silence it for an hour. If your going to watch a movie you can silence it for two hours. Really helpful for people that can forget to turn their ringer back on.

the only thing I use ROM manager for is to backup a ROM. It'll reboot into recovery, backup the ROM, then revolts when its done. You can install .zips from it. It does have ROMs available to download but its scarce. XDA site is much better. As far as I know rom manager does not install apps. I use titanium backup to back up my apparently plus the data within them so when I flash I don't have to download everything again

Facebook looking awfully weird

Hey everyone. My first post and I'm excited to have changed from CM7 to CM10! Thanks to the devs btw for making this possible. Anywho, I've searched for this already on here an Google to no avail. I've installed the Facebook app on my IC2 and for some reason, it looks like entirely different than the original. Doesn't look the same. I've provided a snapshot of it so hope it helps. And it's not just the layout that's changed but even my cover photo isn't visible. Anyone know what's going on?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
Im having that issue too, I just went back to friendcaster
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
mine did that when i came to PA, after a restart or two it gave me the option to update my facebook app and it went back to normal
Yeah unfortunately hasn't given me the option to update... yet. Hopefully it does in the near future...
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
I thought this was the normal look for mobile? I haven't seen any other versions.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
I think it has to do with what the Facebook servers are giving you on cm10. I think its because jelly bean devices are all higher resolution than ours. It does it on the mobile website too, but if you change the user agent to iPhone on your browser it will look normal.
Phantom, parts of it look the same. But with the current version of Facebook for Android, I guess you could say that my layout for my wall looks entirely different. If you check it out on the Play store, mines doesn't look like that. Only the top portion seems to be okay. I don't even have a cover photo! But it's more of an annoyance than anything.

Yeah, I'm actually glad people know what I mean. I'm starting to agree with that. Probably explains why when I go to the Facebook site on the browser it sends me to the Facebook full site instead of the mobile. Hope they fix it soon!

Sooooo.. one LAST update, I promise. Switched back to CM9 Psycho because CM10 right now was just too buggy for my phone. Everything with Psycho has been awesome, including camera. Anyways, that also brought me back to the original Facebook that I had when I started this post and it basically reverted but I rather have a stable phone than a distorted Facebook look. But I guess the problem just comes with CM9 altogether. Anyways, cheers! :silly:
i just use friendcaster its better all around anyways. may not be pretty but its hella functional. im sticking with that till we get a native fb app like we were promised.
I'm trying to use friend caster but the ads are killing me. I tried using lucky patcher to remove them but had no luck

[Q] Facebook making Nexus hot... CPU throttling.

I have installed Facebook 3.1, the latest version. It makes my CPU hit 55 to 60 degrees (Celsius) which is NOT good as my cpu begins to throttle. I can verify this in franco.kernel updater and by running quadrant also the top of my phone is getting really hot.
As soon as I uninstall Facebook my temperature drops to 30 degrees and only goes up to about 45 when doing something like going on Twitter... Why is Facebook doing this when I use it the most on a daily basis..
Also I notice that my phone stays warm-ish even when I am not using the app (facebook isn't keeping the device awake however). I am so confused as to why Facebook is doing this.
P.S I have also tried a later version of facebook and it does the same thing. Please someone clarify that it isn't my phone going wacko and its the app and also its fixable? I do like to go on Facebook when i'm out the house as I keep in contact with people on it
I dont see how Facebook can cause this. I dont use Facebook myself. But maybe try using the web version instead until you find a solution.

I could try but I am so used to getting push notifications to my phone i'd end up forgetting and go the entire day without checking which is bad as I have important things that I need to keep an eye on on facebook.
I dont know if you have access to it man but undervolting or even under clocking a notch if you have the ability will work wonders for that issue

I tried it and didn't like it, also everytime someone tagged me in something it wouldn't show up or even notify me.
Also in reply to lesp4ul I tried what you said but my phone still gets hot. Facebook seems to be constantly requesting access to the CPU. I notice that when facebook is installed Franco Kernel updater tells me that the frequency jumps from 384MHz to 700 all the way to 12xxMHz and does this over and over again with no stops, this makes the temperature jump around all over the place and it is hogging the performance of my phone.
After uninstalling it sits at 384MHz and only moves very rarely (unless i'm touching the screen etc). Again obviously the temperature stays at around 30 degrees. My guess is that the app is just not what it used to be in terms of coding structure.
