Hello im spatinator,
i have follaowing problem:
i have the xperia play r800i with the build 4.0.2.A.0.69, which i want to root
i read that you cant root the build 0.69 so i have to downgrade to the build 4.0.2.A.0.42
I have the latest flashtool software, but i can´t find a Xperia Play Optimised build 4.0.2.A.0.42
and i don´t know how to flash the FTF-file
Please help me
(Sorry for my bad english)
Please answer in german if possible )
Thanks
Look into Android Development section of Xperia Play. You should find it there or go to xperiagamer.com and choose Rooted Zone. There are also a lot of ftf files available. By the way: .58 is the latest Rom which can be rooted directly. If you really want .69 with root than you need a german! .42 ftf. You only get that through wotanserver Client. Only downside is that you need to pay 2 Euros for one time flashing. Only Payment method is PayPal. Or you unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel which roots your device automatically. Downside is you lose some DRM certificates which some apps need like Track ID unless you pay 20 Dollars to the Alejandro Guy. I think the best is .58 Rom with .69 Baseband.
Is it possible, to reset my phone, root it then, and update it with OTA
to keep the root???
... Or will my play keep the updates by reseting it ???

As far as i know, resetting your phone will only wipe your user data but firmware will stay the same.

...so the only way to root my device without any costs is to unlock the bootloader and flash then with flashtool a pre-rooted Custom-ROM.... ?? Is that right??

Just unlock bootloader and flash a custom kernel via CWM or flashtool.
Okey thank you very much
Which Kernel would you prefer for me or at all??
(sry if i nerve im a big noob at things like that)

is there any way to root 4.0.2.a.0.62 devises ?
their is just unlock ur bootloader then ! im satisfied .58 il wait for ICS to come
or you can downgrade to .42, and root. I did the same thing, and removed few built in apps that I don't use, and every morning I get 200MB of free RAM, and in normal usage I get 170MB free RAM + the phone got a lot faster than it was on .62
But I dont want to unlock bootloader and lose the warranty and OTA update

I downgraded using Flashtools and didn't have to unlock my boot loader, just flash the system file, and the kernel file. and you will be fine

I did it just few minutes ago and no need unlock BL
1. Flash to 42 or 58 firmware by flashtool. I download from below linkhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357841
2. Root ur phone by flashtool again.
U can change the CDA before use US or PCC then back to orginal 62 FW.
Cheers
PS.sorry my poor english
Solved
1. Unlock the Bootloader
2. Install Doomlord Stock Kernel 1.6 ( Pre rooted)
3. Install .62 stock Kernel from .ftf file (Root remains from Doomlord Stock Plus Kernel 1.6 even after installing .62 Rom kernel agian)
4. Re-lock the bootloader with the help of Flashtool.
5. You have Stock ROM rooted and with locked bootloader.

Download Arc S LT18i (4.0.2.a.0.62 Offical ROM) : http://www.mediafire.com/?6fs6iry9spv78mb
You can install Arc Rom on ARC S by some tweaks but it makes your ARC S slow as the default CPU speed in ARC is 1 Ghz and our ARC S is 1.4 ghz by default.
Download the .ftf file from the above link and install it through Flash Tool.
@jaipurwasi80 Thank for answer and help.
I think the problem(arc s as arc(cpu)) can fix with overlock and upgrade 1,6 or 2,0 ghz, cant it?

I have used the same file for my Arc S( LT18i) and its worked fine for me along with the Latest Flash tool. I hope you are using the .ftf file in Flashtool and your phone in flashboot mode.
OR
Go to www.wotanserver.com and download its client on your PC to Install any Offical Sony Ericsson ROM. You need to make a free account on the site and while installing you can choose to install 4.0.2.a.0.62 offical ROM.

Hey guys..
I just flashed my R800i with SEUS cause I "bricked" it... I thought that this is the best way, to get the latest frimware, too.
But after the successful update I recognized something strange:
The flashed FW-Version is 4.0.2.A.0.69.
.69... Strange. The latest certified version at PTCRB is .62
And the worst thing: This firmware is unrootable through psneuter or zergrush method..
Well I'm going to unlock BL again and try to root it..
this firmeware 4.0.2.A.0.69. is for Xperia Arc and Arc S , not for Xperia Play.
Go to Arc/Arc s pages in PTCRB website.
I connected my phone to SEUS, it recognied it as XPERIA PLAY R800i. And there was that update available... I created a ftf of the firmware and I'm uploading it atm...

Hi guys, i have flashed LT18i 4.0.2.A.0.62 to my Arc S, it works fine but i Wanted to clear the bloatware so I need root for that.
I couldn't find any direct method (forund the one to downgrade o .42 then to root, but it's too much hassle), can it be done?
Also if easier and anyone knows which ROM i can flash with any Stock 2.3.4 without bloatware + CWM etc... i just don't like custom roms, as it
turns default works just fine for me.
So:
1. How to root stock LT18i 4.0.2.A.0.62
2. Link to pre rooted 2.3.4 (LT18i 4.0.2.A.0.62) stock kernel + cwm - bloatware
You can not root. 62 it is no hassle to use flashtools to flash The.42/.56 root then update ota ( only if bootloader Is locked otherwise you will brick your phone)
