[Q]Wifi-Direct, S-Beam, and other SGS3 Features on CM/AOKP - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hello, as the title says I'm curious if some of the features of the SGS3 (such as wifi direct and S-Beam) are able to be ported over to CM9/10 and AOKP. I feel like those are the amin features that the AOSP projects are missing for this phone. If there is a thread out there already please forgive me I could find it. Thank you in advance.

I am interested in this as well. One other thing to add if possible would be how the stock firmware has an option to call the contact from the messaging app by putting the phone to your face. I thought it was a cool feature.

Sbeam and motion controls are built in and dependant on the touchwiz framework.
Nfc can be used by other roms but not via sbeam... If they support its use of course.

Wifi direct work fine on CM/AOKP, but only with this app here. For me, work fine on Galaxy s1 + Galaxy s2, both running Rom ICS AOKP M6.
Or, you can use this excellent app here, which is as wifi direct but without wifi direct.
If i helped, please press my thanks button.

Multiview CM 10 or 10.1

I know with official Jelly Beam 4.1.2 there is a way to view two apps on one screen. I have tried both CM10 and CM10.1 and neither of these have that feature. Is that just not being implemented or am I missing something?

My understanding is that multi view is a Touchwiz feature, not stock.
Multi window is built into the touchwiz framework, I don't see it ever making it to any cm build

Hey all~
ok I know Multi-View is tightly interwoven in to Touchwiz BUT I am wondering, are there any "clones" that do similar available on CM 10.1 ?

Your closest option is any of the aosp roms that have just implemented ParanoidAndroid's Halo. Not quite the traditional Touchwiz multiview but as close as you're going to get.
Touchwiz and aosp have never been interchangeable.

[Q] Best 4.2 ROM with Multiview and S Pen Support

Hi,
I have been looking for just the right ROM, but I haven't had any luck finding it myself.
Can someone give me recommendations as to which 4.2 ROM would be the best?
I still want the TouchWiz widgets like S planner and S note, and multiview because I use them on a daily basis.
Thanks!

Just to expand on this a bit.. You will not find the ROM you're looking for because one does not exist. Samsung has not released 4.2 for Note 2 - so there are no sources available for anyone to build on.
The apps/widgets you're requesting only work with Touchwiz frameworks - so no 4.2 from Samsung = no 4.2 from anyone else with those features.

4.2.2 ROMS

Is there any real difference between CarbonRom and liquid smooth ROMS as both are based on 4.2.2 !!
There are minor differences between the two. Honestly, I've been switching between the two for a few weeks now, and I still don't know which one I like better. They are both supported regularly by awesome devs.
I know this isn't the answer you wanted, but I'd say try them both out and see which one you prefer. I eventually landed on Liquid Smooth, but it wasbasically a coin toss.

From what I noticed in general daily use, LiquidSmooth has an hdr feature in their camera, and a few more customization options (qs tiles color settings, notification drawer) but probably only because they have a more current release. I'm pretty sure Carbon will implement these features as well in their next release.
Performance wise, at least for my phone, there aren't any noticeable differences. Both use linaro (i think) but then again, results vary for each phone.
Yeah liquidsmooth has hdr feature but no photosphere which can be flashed also. Basically it all comes to what features are included in both rom and which gets regular updates through goo manager
Does liquid smooth has options to disable camera shutter sound .

Yes, if you put your phone on mute or vibrate the shutter sound is off. It basically follows your devices sound profile lol.
Don't see a need to start another thread another 4.2.2 roms so I will ask here. In any of them can I set it up so if i have a pattern for the lockscreen I don't have to put it in when accessing the camera?

Lockscreen camera widget. Can take a pic literally from the lockscreen!
I can't find anything on the market with that name. Can you post a link to it? Everything I have tried I still have to put in the pattern to unlock the phone before I can use the camera.

Bro you are running the newest Liquid Smooth (v2.1 STABLE) right?! If you are:
1. Go to settings
2. Go to "Lockscreen" (right under "Interface")
3. Scroll all the way down to "Widgets"
4. Check the "Camera Widget" box (shows the camera widget on lockscreen)
5. Lock your phone
6. Wake your phone up, and from the lockscreen scroll to the right and... BAM there's your camera and you can take a pic from the lockscreen!
Hope that helps!
No, I'm not. I have not rooted yet. I was wondering if one of the roms talked about did what I was looking for. Now that I know Liquid Smooth rom does I plan on rooting this weekend and running it.

Built right into the ROM. But it is built into most (if not all) 4.2 based ROMs.

[Q] Can you get "Samsung" hand gestures on TW?

Running ParanoidKangDroid v.2.30 ROM. I'd like to have the hand gestures that come with TouchWiz. Is there a possible way to have this on my ROM?

you should try to keep all your questions in 1 post. you'll actually get better help that way.
you are on an AOSP rom. you want TW features which are woven into the stock firmware's framework. its essentially a choice: a few TW features vs custom AOSP optimizations. both can share some similar customizations, but not everything is interchangeable.
Any of the feature on TW WILL NOT WORK ON ANYTHING BESIDES TW.....
None!
They're dependant on touchwiz and won't work on anything else.

As long as source code for TW stays unreleased its impossible to port. That's why no devs bother to try and port. Its going in blindfolded. Same with Sense and other UI overlays. So when Samsung releases source code it'll be possible.

What features exactly? There's apps like Wave Control that do similar things...
Ya, there are a lot of apps that allow TouchWiz like features. There is a MMS apk for AOSP roms that has the while in messaging put phone to ear for Direct Dial. Just search in the playstore TouchWiz or galaxy s III things like that.

Well for that particular feature, I recently discovered that Liquidsmooth (and quite possibly CM, as well as JellyBam and others) have this feature in the settings for the stock messaging application. It's the last setting, labelled as "Direct Dial", but it's pretty inconsistent with the auto-dialing. I've noticed that when I'm laying down and attempt to call it won't work because if I put the phone to my ear the screen just flips to landscape view, and stays on. When I'm up right it tends to work, however I haven't had many opportunities to test this out yet.
That would be sweet if someone got two working with aosp, they need to release the code...

You know, I didn't think I liked stock ROMs until I started using FTL 4.3. I'm a convert, less settings than I was used to previously, but less headaches, better battery, and just generally happier.
I'm sure I'll get lured into a custom ROM again in the future, but for now I'm enjoying a fully functional phone that never reboots or crashes.
I love stock, especially AR. But this won't benefit if it's not coming to Toro lol

today i will finish Maguro and we're ready to upload and release...
Still some issue on quick settings... i will provide to fix
Wait, doesn't AR have tons of customizations? Wouldn't that be the opposite of a stock esque rom?
And what's FTL?
