Just got my SGS3 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

have to say coming from the captivate ( A GREAT PHONE ) to the monster of the sgs3 is a major change
rooted and loaded up CM10 newest nightly smooth so far :good:

Welcome to the club.

Coming from both a Galaxy Nexus and a LG Optimus LTE (Nitro HD) and my god I'm absolutely in love with it. The way some of The Source guys were drooling over the phone was quite funny as they themselves wanted to get one. I feel like a kid that got his favorite candy from a candy store =3

Coming from an xperia x10 it was unreal how much better everything was with the s3. At least 100x better in every way

Coming from a iPhone 4. All I have to say is, the SGS3 is amazing! No lag, awesome screen and tons of functional (but pricey) apps. Also the battery life aint too bad

Welcome ! If you want a rom with a lot of custom mods , go with AOKP build 30. Its in the development thread . I'm glad you liked your Gnex, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

All the evos! Dang how many did they produce? You must have millions!
Seriously though, I really like the AOKP Builds. Build 30 just released and its based on the newest release 4.0.4. AOKP also has a ton of extra features!

Bigxies 1.02, is really good, running with the Lean kernel 3.0, great battery life and good performance also. Winner.

Yeah finally android is trying to be smooth UI with the nexus like the iPhone UI. For roms aokp is pretty much the way to go. At least that's where to start, then move on from there should you chose to do so.
Well actually I had 5 OG Evos and 3 E3D's

I'm in the same boat as you except I got my nexus 5 days ago and I've already starting creating my own ROMs and hacks. I forgot how great android was.

MIUI for our Galaxy S III?

I'm wondering if there were any plans for an official release (or port) of MIUI V4 to our devices. MIUI is by far my favorite ROM and I would love to have it running on my S III.
I'm working on it as we speak. Patience my friend. Lol.

Any update on this? I'm actually considering going back to my HD2 just because I miss miui so much. haha.
Was wondering any update on this? I saw miui has New MiHome Free (Launcher) for this week version. Thanks to devs who are working on this.
Difference?
I am faced with a dilemma.... there are two different versions to download of MIUI Rom....
Samsung Galaxy S3 (AOSP Based) and Samsung Galaxy S3 ....
May I sound like a noob idc but what in the hell is the difference?
In my opinion MIUI always has battery/stabilty issues, i've used miui many times before on my devices including GS3 and it just plain sucks battery and sucks in general stability but everything and theme look good.

Those are for international version. For t-mobile version, you can find the rom in the original development section

MIUI why isn't it popular?

hi all i've been lurking in nexus forums lately and i found miui ( 4.1 is released ) to be totally beautiful and gorgeous it has a really nice theme to it , + it have a ton of customizables ...but there's only about 50 k views ,,why is that so ? it seems to be a well made rom ...so is it so unpopular? i don't have a nexus yet though
because it looks like an iphone. alot of people dont like that look.

Some people like the aosp versions. Generally people have different preferences. I used to love MIUI and use it frequently until I came to the gnexus where the whites were not up to my expectations. However today jb version of MIUI is out and I'll be giving that a go. Hopefully will stick with it.

I'm not sure about the others, but i've been in the android sphere for over 2 yrs and i never flashed a miui rom. iOS like UI's just don't interest me.

This for me also.
Saying it looks like an iPhone isn't the real reason because you can customize MIUI much easier with it's built-in theme engine - there's hundreds of themes available for it that looking NOTHING like an iPhone and NOTHING like aosp as well.
The reason it isn't popular here is because it runs like crap on the galaxy nexus. If you popped in over at the Desire HD or SGSII forums you'll see it's one of the top ROMs used there because it runs beautifully on those devices.
oh so miui isn't optimized for nexus ? one more thing is there a difference between aokp , aosp , cm10 ?
I don't like closed source ROMs plain and simple. Release your source so others can build on your success.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
It doesn't have to look like iOS at all. I have run Miui with Apex Launcher and it looks nothing like an iPhone.

LOL isnt optimized for the gnex? right... AOKP and AOSP and CM10 are almost all the same some have other features the other might not. Just try them all.

Exactly what I was gonna say
It will grow huge with the latest update. Just wait.

I just tried it out and it can't currently hold a candle to Jelly Bean in terms of UI smoothness. Deal breaker for me. Also doesn't seem as stable, and chews through battery.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
It is not as smooth as other roms. I like miui a lot, just not on nexus yet. Hope the smoothness comes back.
you guys that have never tried and think its too much like the iphone check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hICCWO8vaXU
It doesn't take advantage of GPU rendering and therefore is God awful slow and painful to view. Basically its not at all optimized for the nexus. You can change the scrolling style on the launcher, or use apex/nova, but as a workaround its a poor trade-off.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Why you ask? Because they refuse to release source.
sent from my Galaxy Nexus running RasBean!!!!
1. i'm not particularly fond of its smoothness or appearance. i ran it on my evo for about a day, just to see what all the fuss was about, but was not terribly impressed.
2. closed source. not because i really care either way about re-contributing to the community (sorry guys), but because i've spent enough time working with slightly-less-than-reputable foreign programmers to be cautious of it. before you start ranting about how i'm some kind of racist/anti-chinese douchebag, just stop. i'm not even suggesting that there are sneaky things going on, because it's awfully hard to hide those kinds of things from the rest of the community. their fierce determination to keep all their code/modifications to themselves, for some reason, just makes my spidey sense tingle.
guys today they just updated it to jellbean making it smoother
It's just not butter!!

What would be harder to do?

I was wondering what would be harder to port...............Touchwiz, Sense, or Aplications Platform(Motorola)?
I'm no expert on this topic but sense would most likely be the hardest to port. As for easiest I have no idea
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yeah I'm liking how Motorola is going and I like the way touchwiz looks but people get mad when I ask about a non-stock ROM on a Google device.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I'd say the Motorola I went to a Verizon store and played with the RAZR m. Widgets are nice and overall u.I. was smooth. Was ICS BTW... sense would be amazing and maybe stutter proof ( we do have a beast of a phone)

NO offense but IMO, Holo is the prettiest launcher so far. Nothing can replace Holo on a GNex.
But looking at the progresses, sense seems to be the most easiest (or most worked on) so far cuz months ago i saw TW ports and Sense ports but nowadays i only see Sense ports.
