Does odin flash zip files? Trying to go to stock - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Okay basically I have a samsung Galaxy S III from ATT. I'm trying to restore my phone to stock. I downloaded this file
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SGH-I747
okay, I notice this file is a ZIP file. Do I flash odin with the zip file or do I put it on my sdcard and flash thru CWR. I"m really confused on how to get my phone to 100% stock. Any ideas?

Extract with 7zip it equivalent, then you should have a tar or tar.md5 file. Place that in the pda slot in Odin.

Here is the latest original T999 S3 Touchwiz Jellybean 4.1.1 rom.
This is the stock Odin flash rom. http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22940013536739731
You will need ODIN to flash it. http://d-h.st/Q14
It will not flash using CWM or TWRP
Good luck!

Here is the step by step guide:
NOTE: you cannot flash it the same way as you would flash a custom rom.
After downloading it make a folder on your desktop and unzip the file
using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Here is a link for ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app) http://d-h.st/Q14
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file.
Download the the stock T999 rom and extract the TAR file into a new folder on your desktop of the computer.
Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
(It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
Good Luck!

From your two posts I'm going to guess that you are rooted and have a custom recovery installed.
Here is the latest stock rooted 4.1.1 jellybean ROM for the T-Mobile Galaxy S3.
Just flash this rom as you would any other ROM.

Do a google search for 7zip it's a free utility for windows,
Download and install it so you will be able extract the TAR
file inside the zip.

First thing to try is to boot into cwm and do a factory reset and reboot the phone that should fix the ex sdcard issue.
If that don't work the only other thing to do is to do an ODIN flash TAR file of the stock-pre-rooted 4.1.2 T999
Tmobile Jellybean rom and from there using rom manager you will be able to restore your backup
or flash any other cwm flashable zipfile.
good luck!
Anyone have a link to the TAR file of the stock-pre-rooted 4.1.2 T999?

YES PDA but unzip the rooted rom first, copy it into an empty folder and copy odin into the same folder.
Best thing to do is to close odin and open it again to be sure that it's in default settings mode.
Only use the PDA option to get the tar file into it.
Do not change any of the settings in odin, leave it default and be sure that the [COM:XX] lights up
after you get the phone into download mode and plug in the usb cable to the computer and your phone.
Once it lights up then start the flash. Have patience after it's done it will take it 5-10 minutes to fully reboot after the flash.

Flashing CWM recovery in Odin from .img file?

I downloaded the latest Clockwork Mod (CWM) recovery for my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919), and noticed that the recovery file downloaded is a .img file (recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-jfltetmo.img). I tried to flash this file in Odin 3.07, and noticed that Odin will only accept flashable .tar.md5 files. I looked through the XDA forums, and noticed there are two threads that provide ready made scripts to convert .img files to flashable .tar.md5 files (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281287).
However, I tried to use both of these scripts to convert the CWM recovery .img file to a .tar.md5, and both scripts returned errors. I believe it's because these scripts are outdated since they came from 2013 threads, and sensitive to which Windows OS the script is running on. In my case, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit).
Would anyone be able to provide the most reliable way to convert CWM recovery .img files to .tar.md5 files?
