Why this difference ? The yellow on the 2nd HOX (august) is horrible.

Actually, the right version looks better to me and definitely looks a much better white.
The one on the left looks blue to me, I think the warmer screen produces better black levels.
To answer your question, there are 2 different screens.
I 'think'
The warmer one have panel_id=0x294000f (Sharp)
The colder one have panel_id=0x4940014 (acer)
Warmer: better blacks, higher contrast, no grid lines.
Cold: more eye pleasing when you use it in person (not in photos), but shows grid lines & doesn't have as good contrast or blacks.
I think the yellow tinted screen is the better of the two.

[Q] Anyone got a black HTC Desire HD?

I've just one - apparently its limited edition and available on Orange only (so the operator tells me)
It's stunning, looks very elegant and expensive!

I've seen the Orange one in person - it's the same colour as everyone elses...
Mine looks black indoors but sort of browny black outdoors. Orange did have the limited edition black original desire perhaps they have the same exclusive black version for the DHD as well.

Well,I think that the normal DHD also looks bery expensive and elegant already! What would you need black for anyway?Every manufacturer has made black phones.Who's made brown? You want to dump uniqueness?
Well,half-joking there, but I like the brown one better.

[Q] Looking For A Pure Black Wallpaper?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913625
Do we have one specifically engineered for the GN?
Try taking a pic covering the camera. That's what I have always done to have a solid black background.

ummm....black wallpapers are black.
OLED screens dont light up black pixels hence the "amazing" battery life using this.
ANY black wallpaper will work
and dont expect to see any gains in battery life....especially 2 hours more.

its easy
downloaded from the market, not wallpaper. This gives the black background for your nexus
Just Google, black.png. It doesn't matter what size it is.
FWIW, Apex Launcher IIRC has an option for no wallpaper, i.e. black, in the settings.
So it does. It's really black too, much darker than a jpeg and a little darker than a png.
no wallpaper in the market
I got one

Let's you choose any background color.
if you do it in paint it is an all black image

Manufacturing discrepancies

So I just just got my second Galaxy Nexus as my work phone. I also have one for personal use. My wife has one also, plus I returned my personal Gnex twice for screen problems.
I'm bored and I figured I would post the differences between the 3 we have at home, and the 2 I returned.
All 5 phones have been perfectly identical in 4g and 3g connecting, hardware performance etc. The only thing that has been different between all 5 phones are the screens. None of the screens have been equal to any of the others. Some have banding, some have purplish grays, while one had an issue with max brightness. Out of the three we currently have now, I would say that only one is near perfect, while the other 2 are adequate enough to keep (one produces banding on grays, and the other has purple tones associated with grey colors).
Why are all the screens so different? is it amoled? Is it just the GNEX? I have had plenty of LED, LCD, and CRT's monitors in the past, and a few amoled screens, but I haven't experienced anything like this before. I'm currently sitting in front of three identical LED monitors and they all produce the same effect on the same settings.
Picture of my 2 phones ( sorry not good detail. Using another phone to take pictures)

Screen color adjustment ?

Has anyone gotten a sweet spot on this ?

Interesting. But I would like to reduce the color, something like +"digital brightness" I think in your language... Does it exist on the LG G4 ?
(it reduce the colors... the red isn't shiny as it is as example)
(wrong login through g+, looks like my first post but it isn't... sorry...)
The example you've given is pretty spot on I reckon! Cheers!
Yes it is hard to find an exact spot. I don't have it enabled. All this does is change gamma and saturation. It doesn't affect the white and black levels at all, which is something I am interested in. My G2 had really bright white levels. My G4 looks slightly dirtier. It looks great standalone, but just not in comparison to my 2gen old LG G2.
It's not possible to make the red color looking red and not pink? I'm very surprised that I don't see comments on this direction on the Web. And for now, I didn't manage to change this "pink screen tendance"

Screen a disappointment

When I view light images, like the list of threads in tapatalk, the bottom of the screen has a different tint than the top. This isn't my first amoled device, and I know that whites aren't usually as good as an lcd, but this seems really bad to me. It's much more noticeable in low light when the screen isn't as bright. I don't have a way of taking a picture now, maybe I can take one tomorrow.
Not sure what I want to do, but maybe I'll wait a little while and then do a warranty exchange to get one from a different batch compared to this one.

I have owned almost every high end phone out there and this phones screen still impresses me every single time I turn it on
You can sort of see the difference in color on the bottom of the screen compared to the top.

Switch it out with at&t... this screen is flawless. Anything less is a defect.
I got a new one. It's much better, plus my bluetooth works better
