Recent Task App - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

Hi guys, If you're like me who dont want to press and hold the home button to show the recent apps list, I would like to share this great app I found in google play...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kaija.activityhistory&feature=search_result#?t=W10.
No permission and so simple and best of all it's free. :good:
Update:
Only drawback is you can only use it while you're in the home screen (where you can click the icon).. :crying:

[REQ] Overriding Home button long press

Hi!
Was wondering if we could somehow override the home button long press to run a custom application instead of showing the recent apps list? This way, we could develop a custom application which shows more stuff rather than just 6 recent apps.
Some ideas are - integrating a task manager which shows running apps, favorite apps shortcuts, shortcut to app drawer etc.
I could develop the application but I wouldn't know how to override the home button long press! Any ideas anyone?
Cheers,
San
Well, there is at least one (paid) app that already does this (could be more but i don't know of them) - "MultiTasking Pro" http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.tkdtnek23.app.multitaskingpro
It would be nice to have extra functionality though, such as a clock (say, if you're in the middle of a game and want to check the time).
As for how it works, just from testing it out, it appears to act as a launcher (given that single home button press takes you to home launcher). I gather this as I had to set it as the default app when i pressed home button for the first time, aswell asthe fact that you have to select the home launcher in the app settings.
The way the app works is, press home button once brings up the menu (overlaying existing app). press it a second time and it takes you to the "default" home launcher as selected in settings. If you hold down home, the original app menu pops up, reinforcing the fact that this isn't a replacement per se.
Of course, overriding the original home button hold function menu would appear to be a much cleaner solution, and I welcome any info on that... whether its integrated into touchwiz or what not... One things for sure, is that samsung modified it to include a link to their "task manager" app.
TaskSwitcher is better, faster, uses less memory and it's completely free.
However no app can replace the long press. It needs kernel/system file modding.

Indeed, not possible. Does anyone know if it was implemented in other android phones?
PS. Power strip is better =) Very very fast and you can see 12 recent apps + widgets. Itching thumb is very promising, but its a plain beta for now.
Yeah but itching thumb uses a LOT of memory.

For me Itching Thumb is currently the only task switcher style thing I find good enough (interface, functionality) to run next to Launcher Pro... I uninstalled all others I tried before.
But if I could have Launcher Pro on short press home, and Itching Thumb on long press home, that would be exactly how I would want that . Because I think optimizations such as memory use will come in time anyway.
I hope for the visual style to be integrated in android and have a real preview, live of the app.

Any idea on what would need to be modified?

Great App that allows you to create multiple sofkey shortcuts

I am always looking for Info for good apps, apps that make our phones function even better. Anyways I stumbled upon this app just by doing going through my Apps in the market and finding other apps related or "apps people also installed etc.
It is called home2 home shortcut. What is does it installs as another home launcher but is doesn't replace you current launcher. If you set it as default home it will ask you what launcher you want to use etc. One you do that you can set up the following to open and app and most shortcuts by doing soft key combos
Press home and home again - pick the app that you want to launch when you do the combo
Now click other settings below this above setting
Press home then search key - pick app you want to launch
Press home then back button -pick app etc
Press home and menu button - pick app that you want to launch when you do the combo
Here is a link.

[Q] How to make home button long press shorter? (touchwiz)

Is it possible to change the delay on the home button long press to bring up the task manager more quickly in touchwiz? By default it feels frustratingly slow!
I want to keep the S-apps so I am not interested in a different home manager.
Thanks
Here the little known solution.

Please here me out as this involves installing Nove launcher. Something you stated you do not wish to do.
Install Nova launcher but after pressing the home button choose TouchWiz "always".
If you now long press the screen and choose "apps & widgets". In there somewhere is a widget called Nova launcher. Long pressing this to place it on the screen invokes a menu that actually belongs to the Nova launcher where you can choose "Recent apps". This places a recent apps shortcut on your screen which open instantly.
This obviously does not help if you are not on the home screen and will jump back to a previous app. In such situations you should use the best app on the market for multitasking which is called SwipePad. You need to purchase the "recent apps" add on ftbut it's worth it.
Hope this helps.
I wish S-apps (especially the S-Planner widget) worked with third party launchers. Touchwiz is smooth and fast but the grid is simply to limited and no full screen annoys me.
download taskmanager app from samsung appstore...put it on homescreen
Disable double press of the home button in S voice.
Whenever you press the home button it waits to see if you double press it before deciding that you only intended to press it once.

Thanks for these tips, swipepad looks very interesting!
Also I didn't realize that the pop-up S-Note still worked with Nova Launcher, so I may keep Nova anyway (I think I can live without S-Planner...)

Adding Hardware button shortcuts

I'm looking for a tool that can assign shortcuts or the likes, by long pressing one of the hardware buttons.
(Like Long pressing home opens recent apps and longpress power button opens shutdown menu.)
I've searched a litte but nothing usefull comes up.
Thanks.
Use this app-Home2 Shortcut from the play store..works well..

Thanks for the input, but it stays up, Taking RAM & Battery. I was looking more for a sort of System edit to make it work, without having an app open all the time.
Else I'd just use swipe opener.

[Q] Tweak Home Button Settings

I have searched everywhere that I can and can't seem to find the solution I'm looking for.
Basically what I want to do is remap the home button. Normally, when double-pressed S-Voice will launch, and when long-pressed the recent apps panel will open. What I want to do is switch those (and use Google Now instead). So what I mean is that I want double-pressing the home button to bring up the recent apps panel and I want long-pressing the home button to bring up the search app Google Now).
I found that the Wanam Xposed module allows me to remap the long-press action to launch Google Now, which gets me halfway there. But I still need something that will open the recent apps panel when I double-press the home button.
I have tried the Home2 app in the Play Store, but I don't like the way it works. I was hoping for something that is more built-in and integrated, if you know what I mean.
Thank you for your help!
I'm using Samsung devices since about 2 years and since that time I'm looking for something that can do this. Haven't found anything so far, do I would love to see a solution for this!
In the meantime gestures do a fine job though. I rarely ever use my home button.
BUMP
Anyone know of a solution?
