kin twom freezing on start up - KIN Two Software Development

Just got this phone yesterday and got it working fine.....for a couple hours. After my wife got all of her phone numbers in, she was attempting to change the theme and it froze up. Now when you turn it on, it stays on the verizon splash screen no matter what ya do. I've tried soft resets, pulling the battery, everything that i could think of. If anyone has any insight to fix this i would greatly appreciate it before i send it back for a refund! We would much rather get it fixed :fingers-crossed:

I would try a factory reset, which sucks since you just got the numbers in

Samsung epic won't boot past b/w samsung screen

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct place as this is my first time, so I apologize in advance if not. As my the title states I currently have a samsung epic 4g that will not boot past the samsung screen. The phone is not rooted and was running stock software. This phone also will not load a recovery menu as it will not boot past the samsung screen (and yes I'm aware of the redundancy). I have tried flashing older stock files using odin and I get a successful read with no errors, however when the phone resets post flash it will still not boot past the samsung screen.......PLEASE HELP I am at my wits end and open to suggestions. Thanks

Best I can say to you both is get a stronger cable if your not already using one and if you do have a cable other than the oem one then try leaving the battery out of the phone and hold the power button for about a minute to let the capacitors discharge then let it sit with the battery still out for about an hour :/ if you don't mind me asking, what happened to the phone before the issue started?
Try to Odin with the battery out.

Its possible to odin without the battery in? How does it populate the com and do you put it in download mode first then pull battery or just plug it and let it fly?

Thanks for the replies. I am trying "the duce's" advice first, no luck yet. She had went to take a picture of the "beautiful sky" last night in the hot tub and dropped it. I immediately took the battery out and when we got to our apartment took the hair dryer (on medium heat of course) to it. I then put the battery in and turned it on and it worked! Until she decided it needed a restart and it hasn't came on since...

Ok so I just tried to flash with odin with battery out I did put it in dowload mode after plugging it up....I removed the sd card as well. Now it boots to the samsung screen but the difference is that now the red led stays lit and the capacitive keys on the bottom row do as well. Any suggestions?

In that case, I would make sure every last bit of moisture is out of the casing by leaving it covered by rice over night.... it might be short circuiting :/

That's just odd :/ I honestly haven't a clue as to what may be going wrong.... at least you made some progress with the capacitive buttons lighting up and your notification led is lighting, usually that's a sign it'll boot
Get this....never got it to boot using odin or by completely discharging the capacitors but on a hunch changed out the lcd this morning and boots right up. What the heck, does anyone know why this worked? Haha very confused now even though the issue is resolved.

Must have been some kind of failure mode for hardware check then. I had the same thing with my airbag switch in my truck. Airbag light came on because the stupid bulb in the switch was blown. Almost cost me $35 for a switch instead of $1.50 at Radio Shack.

You can try a reflash, restore your previous nand backup and try again, or Odin in a prerooted ROM and start from there. But if it goes more than a minute on SAMSUNG you are done. After flashing the S will take a few minutes (or whatever boot screen the ROM has) while it rewrites Dalvik cache.
My epic is doing the same thing. It was stuck in recovery menu when I pulled it out of my pocket. Rebooted and stuck on sanding screen.
I figured out what I did. I installed wrong kernal... noob for me lol

So I was playing around with different kernels and whatnot but it froze while I was flashing back to stock. I pulled the battery and tried to reboot the phone but only the blue LED came out. Anyone know how to solve this issue or am I screwed?

As a last resort try a USB jig. I wouldn't mod a Samsung without one.
There are several OG Epic tricks you can try. Try removing battery and SD card and plug phone in to PC and see if it powers to download mode.

You can try saying you got some random message that an OTA update showed on your phone and you accepted it and it screwed your phone up. Just a thought coming out of left field

I had the EXACT some problem last week. I went to the repair center, said the phone was plugged in at work, we had a power surge, and afterwords the phone wouldn't turn on. An hour later...BOOM, new phone
I then went on amazon and purchased a usb jig and kept my phone stock until it came. lol
Every rooted owner should spend the 2 bucks on a USB jig. It's not the holy grail, but it's one more tool in your belt to potentially get out of a frustrating and time consuming situation.
I bought mine from here and got it pretty quickly considering where it came from ...

I forgot to mention letting it sit when I mentioned this to someone else (or was it here?) about pulling battery and SD card. Also repeatedly press or hold power button with those out to purge any remaining juice in the phone. This stuff sounds crazy but ask any former OG Epic owner.. some of these tricks have brought phones back from the dead. There isn't a pinhole under the battery cover below the camera is there?
That last part was an OG Epic inside joke but the rest is worth trying

Touch screen issues

This only happens when I'm trying to type a text message or play a game that requires the use of a touch pad (like zenonia 3 and 4). The touch screen just refuses to respond properly and is causing me to be annoyed. Anyone know how to resolve this issue so I don't have to go back to Verizon and get a replacement?
NOTE: I've already tried to pull out the battery, format the phone, and the sd card. None of them worked.

On aosp roms I had the same issue.. just randomly would not respond. My soft keys would still and anything but the keyboard.. I don't know why. What I would do is turn my screen off and back on and it would start normal again.. then I just went back to sense and no issues

Ok, then I think it's probably an issue with the digitizer. I would take it to Verizon and see if you can get a replacement.

[Q] Can you access the power button from the inside?

I guess my question is: If I take the phone apart, can I get to the power button? Earlier today my phone started rebooting itself like it had been hard reset (power button for 8 seconds..) and wouldn't even make it past the "Galaxy SII" screen before it reset again. I ruled out any software problem after I got rough with the power button and it stopped. But, now when I lock or unlock my screen the power button gets stuck again and causes the endless resets. I'm wondering if I can take my phone apart and mess with the power button from the inside to maybe clear things up a little. Hope I explained that clearly enough. Thanks for any help!

it's dead Jim!

I will try to make this as short as possible. I got my vzw galaxy nexus used on eBay 3 months ago. I loved it like it was my second child. A week ago I noticed the radio was not showing a signal or a very weak one, sometimes but it always worked. Until last night, It wouldn't register a signal so I rebooted it. It started to boot loop, never getting past the nexus logo. It was unlocked, rooted, but running stock jdq39. I left the battery out for an hour and it did boot to the lock screen. I would unlock then it would reboot again by itself. I then went down the road of trying to flash stock images, radios, and even cm10. All the stock images failed on flashing CDMA-radio. Cm10 came up but it started boot looping again, baseband was unknown as well as other info under status. As a last resort I tried to Odin 4.0.2 it failed at the very end trying to write (wait for it) CDMA-radio. Now it only boots to a yellow triangle with a phone and computer image on either side. I an not missing anything stupid right? The CDMA radio must be toast.

Probably. Fastboot also fails?
a maguro wrote this.
It certainly sounds like a part of the hardware in the radio has been going bad. Is there any warranty left on it? Not sure if they're transferable since you bought it on eBay, but it's worth a shot to at least ask, either at your store or Samsung. The only other random things you might try is taking the LTE sim out and if you have access a different battery? Since it's failing on CDMA, the sim shouldn't have any effect, but since it's dead, it's worth a shot. Same for the battery. But yeah, sounds dead.

Yeah I can't even get into the boot loader anymore. So adb and fast boot don't work, but Odin still connects and can flash, just gets stuck at the cdma-radio.

Thanks! It was absolutely the cdma radio that died. The replacement came with CM10.1 RC4 but decided to flash it back to jdq39 stock. It flashed without problem using the same USB cable, computer and drivers. It seemed like hours when I flashed the cdma radio but in reality it only took a few minutes, but was very relived when it finished successfully. I figure I am just going to keep the other parts in case I need them.
