Native Music player in Task & ktoonsez's ROM? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there a native music play app included in the JB rom, or did I screw something up?

Unfortunately it's not available in Canada.
Since the app was removed I started using Sound Best Player, seems alright so far. Annoying setup process though.
It'd be great if you could include the one from older builds, but I know your busy with other features, so....

There was one in the last ICS release.
Since Google Music is not available in Canada, I've been restoring that one with TiBu.

Thanks for the reply Task. I love the rom, it's smooth as silk.:good:
Still waiting for Google Music in Canada, so SOL there. Still trying to find a decent one to keep, but I like 3 so far. I'd post a link but still a newb.

video GTalk and other changes - OTA

Hello,
I heard that the new update from t mobile would include a new GTalk with videos along with some other new apps.
I installed the one posted in the dev section and the only change I notice is a new music app. Where is GTalk? Is there anything else that was supposed to be added? Is the updated posted here incomplete compared to the one officially from t mobile?
Thanks.

This is the reason I am waiting for the FOTA/OTA and I just want a clean install.......but the longer it takes the more likely I WILL USE ODIN. I hate this rollout....it sucks.
Google talk app is included in the update. The application talk is google talk the video is built in the chat app itself.

The google talk seems to be unchanged by the update. How do I check if it was changed?
It says talk version 1.3 ... Do I have the old one or the new one?
Anyone know if any other apps were changed?
How's everyone's take of the battery on this new radiO?
The video is in there. there should be a camcorder symbol next to your name. I'm in the ROM now.

I haven't seen the update in the market nor the firmware method. How do we go about "updating".
I just bought this phone, but I am still thinking about whether to root it at this point. I mean, I would love to because of all this BS bloatware, but I kinda want to get to know the phone first.
just use the available update and use odin. it'll keep your apps that doesnt need root, intact. i havent tried rooting mine to see if the other apps that requires root will pop back on. and yes, i wiped mine clean and started fresh.
so my point is, if you want a clean install, still just use the odin version and factory reset it through the settings. it'll be just as fresh as one straight from FOTA/OTA
hth
EDIT: oh btw, i did root mine, after resetting it back to factory defaults.

Apocalypse Rom: no google talk in market

Hello, I am a long time android user who just started messing with custom roms. I have a galaxy ace and last week i switched from adrenaline rom to apocalypse rom. I am very happy. with adrenaline i kept having random reboots every few hours, and with apocalypse i haven't had a single one. and i even have more free memory for apps than before.
the only thing that i do not like is that i can't find google talk on the market. can anybody help me with this? i know that apps do not show in every phone or every rom, but i cant see a reason why an app like that wouldn't show in my ace. i had it installed both in the official rom and adrenaline. and now, with apocalypse, i have many other google apps (google+, maps, youtube, gmail, etc), and after 1 week, i haven't found a single app that i was not able to install, except gtalk.
i hope someone can help me.
btw, i would have liked to post this on the apocalypse thread, but it seems that i am too young

But i thought that i installed gtalk from google play some time ago while using adrenaline rom. i may be wrong though.
as for the section, i thought about it. i was not sure where to post it. but since this forum says themes and apps, and my question was about a very particular app, i thought that it would fit better here. anyway, lesson learned

Well, i managed to get gtalk installed from the thread Curius7 linked. I had already installed the rest of google apps from the market, and that is what seemed strange. being able to install maps, google+, gmail, youtube, etc. perfectly, and then not finding gtalk.

i have tried 3 or 4, and so far the best one is Apocalypse. The battery looks great and i am not having any strange issue (like reboots, etc). the only odd thing was the lack of gtalk, which thanks to this thread i have already solved.
also, not so important, apocalypse theme is gorgeous.

[Q] PlayerPro crashing upon startup. (JellyBelly v6)

I start it up, and it just goes right back to the launcher, it will show up in my open tasks though and when I try to get to it from there it just crashes again. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue?
Updated:
Also another issue, tried opening DoubleTwist, it opened. But when I when I went to hit the Albums tab it crashed as well.
Try fixing permissions. If that doesn't work, it could be an incompatibility of some sort... Can't know unless I know more about your setup.

There are a lot of sound and music mods in v6, I modified the ROM to work optimally with the included music players... Sorry if other ones don't work because of it. Noozy and Apollo are both great music apps.
I use player pro and haven't had this issue.

I have tried fixing permissions twice now and still no change. I've tried reinstalling both applications and still no change. They are not stored on the SD card, Apollo works, as does Google Music. But I don't like having to use Apollo, it has barely any features, and it wont let me change it's skin. And even though I have my entire library on Google Music I don't like to steam music as it kills my battery so I store music locally to an SD card.

Ok so I guess i missed the memo where you updated V5 again so I redownloaded and re-wiped the phone, it works like a charm now. When I saw that last one that said final I figured it was final and didnt there was an update to it again till 3 days ago.
May I say though thank you for this ROM, I was using the CNA port before this, but I think that may be the final one I keep on my phone, now that everything seems to be working on it now.

Getting Rid Of Google Completely

Possible to free a ROM of everything Google? I have read a few articles but nothing really specific. I see Google as intrusive personally.
Edit: To clarify what I mean. Stop all the data mining, tracking, etc. That's pretty much it. I know its a Google is,and as such only so much could be removed but at least it would limit the intrusiveness. Not looking to go stealth, anonymous or some paranoid tin hat sh*t lol. Maybe a safe indy app store or even just side load, no syncing to any of googles crap whatsoever, no anything that allows Google to get my info. I figure my carrier is good enough in that area as far as tracking important data such as location for 911,etc.
If you delete your Google account from your phone, most apps will most likely act up, but that is one way to do it. I haven't tested, but since you brought it up i think I'm gonna give it a go right now
Lol moist..Sounds like a winner to me.
Was thinking of going all apkmania.com lol joke people...maybe juice it up with some yahoo love lol. Never mind..I guess Google just owns me at this point.
Seems like my android phone loves Google
Lol
Apps downloaded from the Google market just don't have good behavior with out being able to synch. I.e. xda premium that i use for staying up to date. Doesn't.
actually i took your advice and deleted my google account, play store, google services framework, google one time userinit,..EVERYTHING. rom still running great. im using yahoo mail with no geolocation services and using custom weather location in rom with all location except what you got to have on turned off and i actually have 162 mb free ram versus 129 before and can see a difference in battery life and speed of rom. all the bookmark sync, contacts sync..all of that garbage deleted from rom. i did it because in my own personal opinion its none of googles business who my contacts are, what my calendar appointments are, what websites i like to go to or anything else for that matter...sell me the damn phone..stay out of my life...thats the deal lol
I'm gonna do a fresh flash with slim ROM and test
---------- Post added at 10:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ----------

Weird... its awesomely working with slimbean!

a cm. aokp doesn't give out your data to Google.. a rom doesn't in short..
it's the gapps which does it... if you're on a custom rom then don't flash gaaps all would be fine..
but on stock and you want to be secure you will need tp get rid of the libs and all the Google thing's...

this one has been an issue for me as well. i keep tons of appointments and none of the crap ive found really provide the two things i need in a good calendar. 1. a customizable full month widget 2. full featured agenda
google calendar is crap and doesnt even have a month widget, android pro widgets has a great month widget but its all heavily dependent on google calendar to work at all unless you are just using a month widget without any other use in it. and its bloated with crap widgets like facebook,etc..and i cant find a decent replacement any where on play store. think i will try f-droid.

A few years ago I heard about a way for the YouTube app to function without the Google Play Services. Is this still possible? I want to go completely without GApps, etc.
So far my plan(s) for application replacements are as follows:
1. Google Maps -> HERE WeGo
2. Google Drive -> Dropbox
3. Google PlayStore -> Use raw APKs downloaded from the internet + Aptoide + F-Droid
4. Google Calendar -> Etar or DigiCal
5. Google Photos -> QuickPic
6. SMS -> Signal
Anything I'm missing?
With that being said- Is there really any need for me to download/flash any GApps, whatsoever?
What are the benefits on going without gapps?

Better buy an iPhone then no ?
I mean even if you completely remove all Google apps, you pay a small percentage of the phone price to Google, then you're using AOSP but still coded by Google. Then by watching YouTube you're completely in the Google system too, and watching ads gives them money too.
So you want to do this the hard way ? Buy an iPhone, use Bing, stop watching YouTube.
There's no point just breaking android by removing Google services and play store...

I just edited my message to give you some advices on some apps, but there's also a debate over buying an Android and in the same time do not want to support Google...
Do whatever you feel
Some apps are really broken when you don't have Play Services. Except crashes and missing features.
Also if you watch YouTube in browser (I suppose you won't use chrome then) you'll be limited to 480p.

I'm aware that some apps will not function correctly. I can work around that. I'm not concerned about that.
As far as the YouTube app hack is concerned, it is not a part of a browser. It is a hacked version of the YouTube app. Completely different, and is fully functional.
I have several years of experience developing/modding android, and I'm sure I will do just fine without GApps.
I am simply here asking about the old YouTube app hack method, and seeing if I am forgetting any baser level GApp.
Thanks so much for your... help...
I use iYTBP for my YouTube app as it features a black design, no ads and background listening. Not sure if it will work without Play Services but you can still try it.
Your welcome for my ...help...
Less condescension can work too.
You can use microG to spoof the Google services (at least in YouTube's case) and use iYTBP (google it, read the xda post and download from their website). Otherwise you could try NewPipe.
You don't need another SMS app, the phone comes with one from OnePlus by default.
It also has a gallery application from OnePlus, so you should avoid QuickPic (as it is pretty much adware).
You could also try to look for a HydrogenOS image on the chinese OnePlus website, but I'm not sure if any have been posted. That way you won't even need to get rid of the Google apps, as there are none.
