It is possible to run Android Ice Cream Sandwich or even Jelly Bean. Just choose a ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328 or go to the Desire Android Development Forum and choose other ROMs (not every ROM is listed in this thread above). You can find the instructions for flashing a new Android version on your phone here in the xda-forum, too.

Check the Desire Development section for various ICS or JB ROMs. But be warned, to enable any of these, you need to have ROOT access. Rooting a phone has become simpler over the past year but it can still lead to bricked/spoiled phones. So be cautious.
For a memory card, I'm using a Sandisk Ultra 16GB class 10.

There is no stable ICS/JB rom.

JB and ICS for Desire
In fact there are stable 4.x roms for desire.
Nikez Rom as well as Elk's Roms run quite stable right now.
I myself run on Elk JB right now and it has only some minor issues but is usable in every day use!

Quite stable and stable are NOT THE SAME THING.
Define usable for every day...

best Android 2.3 + Sense Rom

Hello guys,
I can't decide which Android 2.3 + Sense Rom I should flash on my DHD.
there are the following Roms to choose:
- LeeDroid HD 2.3.4 beta 3
- CoreDroid V4
- Android Revolution HD 4.0 beta 1
- VillainRom 2.0.1
- RCMix HD 4.2
Which Rom did you choose and why did you choose it ???
Thanks very much
VillainROM because Nathan, the maker of it, made also many very excellent ROMs for the HTC Hero and so I trust him that he'll also make good ROMs for Desire HD.
i had leedroid 2.2 and it worked fine. then i wiped my phone and installed leedroid 2.3, but only part of sense showed up on my phone! really weird. then i flased RCmix 2.3 and it works brilliant!
you mean RCMix HD 4.2, right ??
If you MUST use Sense (I dont know why...) The Beta ARHD 4.0 is your best bet. Its a good experience so far.
That said, I am a CM7 User, and I hate Sense, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I had the same question some time ago and it's often a thing of personal decision. So you probably will have to try for yourself. All the ROMs have good performance.
I'm using Revo HD because it looks like stock but with nice tweaks.

Only reason that I use sense is because I like some of the Sense apps(Dialer and messaging mainly)
I'd Choose either of Revolution or Leedroid , both are gr8 roms, the others listed Tbh i havent flashed those on my DHD so can't really give my opinion on those tilli try em out. i've used leedroid since v.1.5 and its been my personal fave one to use daily.

Actually I am concerned about the daily usability of the different builds and if it's worth to jump to gingerbread seen the source is a leaked build probably in very early stage. I would like to try it but I feel so confortable with AR3 ... Please someone tell me I would not regret it

You could always back up your rom before flashing ?
I would obviously do it, but I am so lazy that was wondering if this rom is worth it ... I promise I'll do my homeworks and let you know here if it is
Android Revolution HD 4.0 beta 1 without a doubt.
Beta 2 out tomorrow so maybe you should wait for that one to flash.

Any idea what time beta 2 is being released?? Im looking forward to going to Gingerbread but am completely reliant on my phone for work and dont have a spare so want it to be as stable and have everything working before i take the plunge!! Also does anyone know if the GB roms can be overclocked yet and which radio should be used??
Thanks in advance!!
Nevermind, just checked and Beta 2 is OUT NOW!!!!
I am using leedroid 2.3.4 beta 4 r2. The reason i'm running this is that i have used his leedroid vesion on my phone since i bought it, and that he is very quick with updates and fixes. Also lee's rom is always lightning fast!

nah this has nothing to do with a language barrier - I've seen at least 4 MIUI threads recently and I'm really confused lol - but I must say that I'm not a MIUI fan so I either don't care much and unfortunately I won't be of any help here :silly:

There are 4 already, one more definitely coming real soon
I only know of three. You have ginger bread MIUI, since It's based on android 2.3 you'll find it the most stable and smoother.
Then there's ICS MIUI by koolsavas (I think it's a follow up to vency's port )
And lastly you have a "hot uptate" by pator ....
I've seen someone in the general section who wants to port a newer version of MIUI, idk how it will turn out to be ....

I think I will choose a Gingerbread based rom ('cause I guess they have less bugs). So, what are the main differences between KOOLMIUI and MIUI BUZZ BETA 6 or simply what rom is the best, if you know

If you want a fast rom, you should choose between gingerbread or froyo.
If you want a rom with htc sense froyo is your best bet, there aren't stable roms with both gingerbread and sense.
Cm9 (ice cream sandwich) works fine but it won't be fast as gingerbread or froyo.

Why would you say Froyo is better with HTC sense?, will I be more limited to apps I can run with Froyo?
Thanks for you help

Yes, few apps don't work with froyo, but there aren't fully working roms with gingerbread+htc sense for wildfire (they all have gps, bluetooth and other things not working).
If you want a gingerbread rom choose an aosp one like cm7

For me the best it's gingerbread. However everyone has a different opinion, so you should choose the one that fits better your needs
for me gb roms are better too. u can install much more apps than on froyo (; for me it is faster and more stable. for A few months i use cm 7.2 stable and i never met bigger problems :3

[Q] Whats works best on a Desire 3.0 or 4.0

I have just sold my galaxy s2 and while I decide what to get next I dug out my old HTC desire. I want to give it and update it's running 2.2 at the moment.
It's the first time I've done this sort of thing so whats the best/easist rom to update it with and how do I do it.
Or if those two are a step to far, what stable rom would be a good replacement????
Hi,
Is it already rooted? s-off?
If not then you need to check out this thread for complete guide on how to root/s-off/flash custom ROM on the HTC Desire.
Once you do that you can click the link in my signature below to check the ROM Index for HTC Desire.
There are ROMs based on OS versions and also sense/non-sense/miui ROMs etc.
Most of the JB & ICS ROMs are still in development and probably not advisable for daily use.
Most of the GB ROMs are not being developed any more, but are probably far more stable.
For a GB ROM I would recommend MildWild based on Oxygen which was only recently updated.

[Q] Stable daily ROM recommendation?

Hello.
My friend asked me to reflash his Desire Z, so I'm looking for some stable daily ROM (ICS or higher).
For now I chosen:
MIUI 4.2.28 multi
AOSP 4.2.2 Jelly Baby (really not sure about this ROM)
Sensei 1.3.0
Sabsa Prime v15
any other tips?
Thanks
Normally best dd ROM questions are not to be asked, but I assume sense you are doing this for a friend you won't easily be able to flash a bunch and try them out as what is normally suggested
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348266
You will find a list of all ROMs here, many will say the most stable and fastest ROMs will be gingerbread based as that's as far as HTC brought this device. But many 4.x ROMs are quite nice for dds
Best recommendation is to flash a couple of the "more popular" ROMs and make nandroid of each and place on SD card, then instruct your friend how to easily change between them so s/he can decide for themselves what is best

Thanks for reply.
I know that it's not possible to say one ROM, but on the other hands always exist ROM which can't be marked as very stable (e.g. KitKats build now)
I really missed your list, thanks for info
(Because I already found some list, but it wasn't updated for a long time)
Anyway thanks for you work
BTW the first 3 ROMs has same link in your list
Also still I need to downgrade the firmware?
