so i just want to know, is the Gnex beam compatible with the S3 S beam?
Im asking cus my GF just got an S3, i started beaming her a couple of contacts and stuff, but when it came to photos i get a message that the receiver did not support such a big file. i tried all types of sizes of pics and non would work.
is it cus the beam is not meant to do that? ir is there a problem with the phone?
I managed to send web URLS, contacts, apps etc... but what about pics?
I too, like to post questions in the themes and apps section. Much easier than searching.

No, it's not. You can use this app for Wi-Fi Direct media file transfer. http://www.androidpipe.com/we-recom...tos-between-devices-using-wi-fi-direct-video/

Sending pictures, mp3s and the sorts via Android Beam works only on Jelly Bean devices. ICS devices can only send/receive small amounts of data (eg. URI's, contacts, etc) via Android Beam.

You can also beam Contacts you're looking at
I think you can do pictures/videos but I've yet to try

gallery images & videos won't transfer via Android Beam.. you can launch apps & games provided that it is installed.. if it's not installed on the other device it opens up the market link to it.. map locations can also be beamed..
i also just noticed that paypal has an NFC widget for easy money transfers.

Blue NFC is a very very nice app, I will try it with my galaxy nexus and my friend nexus s
tested here with an GN and Nexus S, getting always receiption error ...
looking fine, BT starts on both devices, transfer file, closes BT on both devices,
but error receiption on target device.
normal BT transfer tested and working fine.
will try on 2 GN to see if that works.
I don't know anyone with a GN so can't test

hi calling all devs ,I was wondering if their is anyone who could pet some of the note 2 and s3 features ie multiview pop up browser pop up video and so on as it would make the n4 so special pleeeease:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Probably impossible! These features require a working touchwiz framework...

About multuview: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094514
About pop up videos: its just player option. You can find same features in play store. Search for pop up player.

Multi view is a good feature. But I don't see a need for it on a phone. It's a nice thing to have on a tablet. Especially N10 as it has a very high resolution display. IIRC CM wanted to add this kind of feature in CM10 but they were advised against by Google.
Pop up play can be had by installing alternative video players like MX Player.
Pop up browser feature is also supported by some browser in Play Store. Forgot the name you can check it out
From Nexus 4
I would Love the gallery from the note to be ported...

idk this phones screen is kinda small for multiview to be of any use really. just try paranoid android in tablet mode with split screen apps and youll see what im talking about
I've also got multi view on my s2 and it looks fine and is so handy

I've never been able to transfer music like they say you can. When I select the track then bump the back of the phones it goes into beam mode and I tap just like I do with pictures but there's no progress bar and have waited and nothing happens.
Its not a specific phone. Its like this on every s3 I've tried also

I don't think the Galaxy Nexus supports S-Beam. Android Beam only sends contacts, app store pages, images, browser pages (and maybe a few other things) but not Songs afaik.
S-Beam is only on Touchwiz galaxy devices (SII, SIII).

....its on the galaxy nexus.. I've used it several times. Last night as well.. When you Google s-beam it also talks about how you can transfer songs and playlist also. The other day I transfered a 40mb video from my phone to an s3 just fine
Next person please..

S-beam was never advertised as a galaxy nexus feature. Period. Android beam, WiFi display, WiFi direct, were.
What does logcat/dmesg say?

Android beam, s-beam. Practically the same. I actually transfered a song to a galaxy note 2 early today. It was weird. Tried an s3 after and it wouldn't work then tried the note 2 again and it didn't work. It acts like it works but no progress bar and doesn't transfer. Its been random.
I'll try to get a logcat

I've never neen able to transfer photos or vidz via Android beam, only web pages, links to Play store apps, and the occasional contact. How are you getting it to work? I've tried with an S3 with no luck.
The trick to transferring images is turn on NFC and Android Beam and Bluetooth on both devices. NFC acts as an initiator for the Bluetooth connection and then the image is sent via Bluetooth between devices. I've only tried on a nexus 7 and galaxy nexus though.

Is there any app that works as S-Beam and connects the Samsung phones as it is S-Beam for Nexus 4? I really want to integrate S Beam to my Nexus 4 to connect the Samsung phones for file photo sharing. Is it possible?

Samsung Phones have Android Beam, too, like our Nexus. it's enabled by default when turning NFC on.
Android Beam transfers photos etc over Bluetooth! While S Beam transfers it over WiFiDirect - more than 10 times faster.
So it shall be great if we can have S Beam on N4.

Use Superbeam Scanner. Download it from Play Store and enjoy the 10x faster speeds.
Works flawlessly.

Has anybody successfully been able to beam between the N7 and a Samsung S3?
Everyone I try it must opens the play store and nothing happens.
Any ideas?

I don't think it works. I tried it with a S4 and a N7 and it hasn't worked. I don't think Sammy's sbeam is compatible with the N7 nfc transfer... Two Google devices yeah, but a Sammy and a Google device? Doesn't work for me...

I have a nexus and an S3 and it works fine. I tried replicating the issue and it worked fine for me. First question is, are you on a custom ROM? Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but just putting that out there.
Second, my nfc settings on S3 are with android beam on, so beam off.
Also make sure that you are placing the nfc sensors together, as it can be difficult to find on the nexus.
Lastly, I love using an app called SuperBeam, which allows me to share files between my two devices. It's like S beam for galaxy phones, except for all nfc android phones.
Best of luck!

My s3 also s4 when trying to beam to my N7 are both directed to the play store. When I run an aosp romn the s4 it works fine with the n7 and android beam. I think touchwiz messes it up.

Disable S-Beam and enable Android Beam and it will work with the Nexus 7 or any NFC enabled android device.
it will work only by opening the bluetooth not the wifi for the transfer...so for large files it's not so fast transfer. ..
