Entered wrong IMEI through QPST accidently. How do I correct? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Phone: GS3 T-Mobile
Lost IMEI while flashing and it showed 0. So I tried to fix it by following this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802024
However, during the process, I accidentally injected wrong number in the QPST. (And found out after the wrong IMEI had already been injected into my phone).
Now, my phone has wrong IMEI number. How do I fix?
Thanks guys,
Ken

Could you not go through the process again...entering the correct IMEI? Not trying to be facetious.

To do what he/she has already done without the box? You don't need a special box to modify the IMEI. I suggest you read more.

does your phone work though?
do you still get hspa+ and whatnot. Calling blahblah? If it works don't worry about it fo rnow.

Kidding...
This is a very common issue, and there is a thread in the development section on how to restore your imei.
please help
Hello,
Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem and have been unsuccessful at finding the right forum . After unrooting my Galaxy SGH-T999, I lost service "no service." I also have the circle with the line crossing it, only WiFi is working; Baseband version, Network, Mobile network type, as well as the IMEI appear as unkown. Please help me or re direct me with the link, I have tried everything and nothing.
It's actually not in our section. But with a simple Google search:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997
Looks like I'll be adding this to the FAQ.
More help please
Thanks for the quick response; however, what is it that I need to do to get back service. Make a backup, restore, or inject imei? Also, i'm having trouble understanding the thread. Is it to much to ask for to give me a little guidance of what exactly is it that I have to do. I'll appreciated it a lot.

I'd ask about what you don't understand in the thread about restoring IMEI.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Well, to be honest I don't know where to even start.
1. I downloaded QPST program
2. AT&T and TMO Phones (or any variant thereof)... I don't know if this applies to my process.
Option1:Using the stock dialer dial *#7284#.... When I do that my phone says: Mobile network not available.
Option 2: Stock ROM w/ unsecured kernal flash this file by drothenberger and geek HERE!... lost there
Install QuickShortcutMaker... don't know where from
Open it and type IOT in the search box... don't know what that is.
Click on the entry that says IOTHiddenMenu / IOTHiddenMenu / com.android.hiddenmenu/com.android.hiddenmenu.IOTHiddenMenu
Click OK..... ???
3. The Following Steps Applies to all phones!
Put phone into RMNET + DM + MODEM mode... what do those abbreviation mean?
IMEI Injection:
If you have lost your IMEI and did not have a backup made this is how PureMotive and I were able to get his IMEI restored.
Open RF NV Item Manager from the bin folder found in Program Files folder/Qualcomm/QPST (RF NV Manager is no longer accessible from the
(open RF and NV?)
start menu or from inside QPST Configuration).
Click on Setting menu in RF NV Item Manager and select Comport.
Select your phone from the list of ports and click ok.
Go to File menu and select Read From Phone.
You will get a list of NV items and their values from your phone.
Look for item NV_UE_IMEI_I it will be item number 550 you can do a search for it using the search.
I'm so upset, disappointed, and mad at myself. I just bought this phone and I already broke it. I been trying to fix it all day and no luck. Please if anyone could make this pain for me. I don't understand the abbreviations or where it is that I need to start.
Thank you

If you're competent enough to root and flash a ROM, you're competent enough to follow Peoplearmy's guide to restoring your 4G. If not, then you you need to go back use Triangle Away to get rid of the flash counter and then Odin back to a factory TouchWiz ROM to erase your evidence of tampering with the phone.
Follow the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997. Just remember since people have been making this mistake, you're not done when you inject your IMEI.
-IMEI injection
-Backup
-Restore
Ok well don, I followed the entire guide, everything on post #3, and am still only getting 2g. When I do *#06# it shows me exactly the same imei # as on the back of my phone, and I repeated EVERYTHING in the post at least 3 times, and still only get 2g. I literally have no idea, I don't think the radio is bad haha, it happened with a flash.

[Q] Trouble with network connectivity probably caused by EFS???

Hello, this is really weird. In fact, when I insert the SIM to my Note 2 N7100 and turn it on, it allows me to make emergency call, but I cannot use it to make any others and it doesn't show the carrier name (it shows Emergency call only). And when I try to use it to make normal phone calls, it says that I am not registered to a mobile network. I try to factory reset my phone, but the problem remains. I then try to remove the SIM card, and it says that I need to insert a SIM card (that means that it is not a hardware problem since it recognizes the card). I then try to go to the mobile network setting to try to connect to the network manually, it connects me but it shows me a warning which says that the mobile network service is not available (and the Emergency call only label remains). However, I am sure that this is not the problem of the card neither since when I insert the card to my Moto MB860, I can make calls as usual. So, what is the problem ??? It seems to me that the problem happens spontaneously since it works perfectly until yesterday. And all other wireless function works fine including wifi , Bluetooth and GPS and the only thing goes wrong is 3g and 2g.
Additional information:
ROM: Omega v.16
Carrier: Fido Canada (as you can see)
Thanks.
What comes to my mind at first that something wrong with your sim card but if you insist that everything is ok with your card so I don't know what to suggest to you. Is it not related with your Omega ROM?

Do some basic troubleshooting:
Does the IMEI number from dialling *#06# match the one on the sticker?
If the answer to this is yes: Then you should contact your carrier as it sounds like your IMEI might have been blacklisted (often if a phone is reported stolen)
If the answer is no: Then you need to fix your IMEI so it matches as it should. This would usually be done by restoring your EFS backup. I suggest restoring a totally stock Firmware if they don't match and you don't have an EFS backup. But you should have one somewhere, surely? Every tutorial out there tells you to back it up...
Good luck.

Do you mean the one in the About Device ==> Status? In fact, the IMEI from the dialing does match the one in About Device ==> Status. However, I don't get your instruction since if in the case where IMEI from the setting matches the one on the dialer means that my phone is reported to be stolen, then why I have to make the IMEI in the setting and the one shown in the dialer the same?

No, when I say "The one on the sticker" I, strangely enough, mean the one on the sticker.
Take off your battery and the phone will have a sticker/label with the IMEI on it. Verify that number matches.

Thanks for your clearification No, it wasn't.:good: Then, I need to flash a stock firmware via Odin, right? In addition, when they say stock firmware, they mean the one that is on sammobile.com, right? In other words, if I have a Hong Kong version of GT-N7100, the file from this link (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=15126) would be the correct one, isn't?

That's correct, yes. It doesn't actually matter which N7100 image you flash, but if you have a Hong Kong version you might as well flash that image. Just make sure you don't have a N7105 (the LTE/Dual Carrier version) - flashing A N7105 to an N7100 (or the other way around) is a recipe for major disaster.
Flashing the image should fix the problem, but it also depends. If the EFS is really totally corrupt, it won't help, you need to have that EFS backup or take the phone to someone who can repair it for you. There are specialist tools to repair EFS, but they cost quite a bit of money. Most reliable phone unlocking places should have something that can help you.
Anyway, hopefully restoring to stock will fix the problem.
Good luck.

Thanks for information, but how do I know that if the EFS is "totally" corrupt, "partially" corrupt, or not corrupt at all? In fact, I never touch the EFS in the root. Also, as I am not quite sure that if I have any previous EFS(S) backup or not, so, if possible, where does the backup(s) most likely to be found?
If you haven't taken an EFS backup yourself, then you won't have any.
I don't know the difference between corruption levels either, all I know is I've read a number of forum posts where someone has reflashed stock and their EFS data (i.e. the right IMEI number) is back. So I'd consider that to be a partial corruption. Others have flashed back to stock and it's still a bogus IMEI
Basically, flash back to stock. If it doesn't work, you'll have to take it in for repair.
UPDATE: Please read on - this information is incorrect - it is possible to recover with the correct modem flashed.
Before doing the flash with Odin, do I have to perform a factory reset? Since all the app data and homescreen layout remains the same after the reboot and the IMEI is also the same as before. And is it normal that my device got unrooted after flashing the stock firmware?
NOTE: The information from me in this post below is wrong

It's normal your device got unrooted, yes. If your IMEI is still the same after ODIN and stock flash, then you have major issues (sorry!)
Doing a factory reset etc won't help. Your /efs partition is either gone or corrupt.

[Q] Trying to return my MetroPCS flashed Note II back to stock MEID

Title about says it, but the details are...
The MEID and IMEI have been changed to those of a donor phone to get it to work on MetroPCS.
I bought the phone cash many moons ago and the ESN/MEID is still clean, I have the original MEID #s from the box, but no IMEI...
What do I have to do to restore those original settings? Read somewhere that flashing stock ROM/Modem works to restore the MEID, but I flashed the MC2 modem and ROM and it didn't change those settings.
I want to use the phone to sign up for Straight Talk, but before I do that, I want it back to the factory settings to ensure everything goes swimmingly with the activation.
Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated.

Change your modem to lj1. Then use dfs to read the phone settings. On the screen that has your esn make sure you read all the sections. When you change the esn you will notice other parts change automatically. Go through and right all the changed sections and reboot. Now you should be back to original.

Hey, thanks a lot. I actually got it to change with the MC2 modem using DFS not long after I posted this. The stupid part is that writing the new (old) numbers wouldn't work if I issued the read command first but worked just filling in the number and hitting write. But it did change my MDN and MIN to 0000000043... I'm assuming I should change them back to my phone number?

Your baseband is probably corrupted. You may try reflashing a stock modem/baseband via recovery. I had a similar problem once, although I was on stock ROM, and re-flashing the modem zip worked.
I, however, tread very carefully here as I am aware the forum is wary about discussions relating to IMEI.

Everything looks OK as your baseband version would likely read 'unknown' if it's bad. You may, however, still try re-flashing the modem via the method posted in the attached thread ... Please proceed at your own peril as I offer no guarantee that this will work or will not result in damaged phones,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898
Please note you will need custom recovery (e.g. CWM or TWRP). You will find instructions for installing custom recovery at the bottom of the thread. If this doesn't work, then you may try doing a hard wipe from recovery and reinstalling everything including system ROM, modem and kernel.
Hope it works out for you.
Simple fix is to reinject imei which located behind the battery.. But sometimes for some reason if you do this, you'll stuck with edge network, can be fix though but you gotta go back to stock in order to do so

you will have to google peoplearmy imei lte and find the tutorial on how to restore imei and get LTE back.
You will not be able to find the thread on XDA because XDA deleted it sometime ago. I was like you and lost my imei. Once I re-injected it using a tutorial on XDA, I was stuck on edge. I had that happen to me with a 0 on my phone and was able to get it back I had no backup either what I did is go on the NV Data restore or NV writer thread and downloaded the NV writer and put myself back on stock ...I went thru a few pages in the post and someone had a file where you could put your IMEI into that file maybe it was set up thru notepad but you could fill in the zeros with your IMEI and name it I think a txt.file after then open the NV writer and instead of backing it up cause you can't just restore that file where you fill in you're IMEI and it went right back into my phone. There also a video on that page how to do it. You just need basically that file to put your IMEI back in. I might still have it if not keep going thru the post took find it. There a picture of what it looks like to restore if you list it but every time I tried to open that link to restore it wouldn't let me. Hope it wasn't to confusing but it's basically a white box with a bunch of zeros and replace the zeros with your IMEI and save it as atxt. File I believe and just restore it as shown in the video for backing it up but just restore instead it does work cause I didn't have an IMEI on my phone it just had a zero

HELP!! Lost IMEI number!!!

Lost the imei tinkering.. Have no clue how but it is now missing from the settings and will not connect to the network. This is on my tmo g3. Please help
Dial *#06#
Nothing
What have you done to the phone?
Most of the time there is a sticker under the battery.
Yeah but what do i use to get the imei back inside the phone instead of just the sticker
Will donate if somebody can help me figure this out..
Isn't this that efs backup stuff talked about in the PurpleDrake thread?

As Skizzy034 noted you'll need to have performed an EFS backup. You can either flash the zips you made or use ADB to restore the partition.
Or call t mobile and tell em your phone does not work right and get replacement. You still never said what happened? What did you do right before issue happened?
I believe I saw a efs recovery method in the lg g2 forum but it looked like a long process and it might not even work for our phone. If I was you I would try to find it quick because normally anything that can potentially spoof imei numbers gets deleted when a moderator notices it.

That's of no help unless somebody comes out with a method for restoring without a backup (I've seen it done with a couple devices). Until that happens, unfortunately there's not a lot you can do with the device.
Do a search for a member by the name Odia, I messed mine up before on another phone and He helped me restore withbout any backup. This was before I ever heard of efs

What about if your phone has the WRONG imei number after flashing a ROM? Does that matter? The phone still works.
I don't have any info on being able to help but this is a prime example of why you take the few extra steps and back up. Most of the time I'll admit, in fact I have never needed mine but on those rare occasions its literally a phone saver.

Same happened to me! Did you fixed it or send it back for repair?
Editing the IMEI in any way is illegal and against our rules. The only allowed way is to have a backup. Anything else is not allowed here.
Also do not Suggest people send the device in to be repaired under warranty. This is Fraud and also not allowed.
