CNA Rom Question? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi, pretty new to the ROM thing with my Verizon GNex. My first ROM I used was AOKP and I figured I would try something new so I just put on Codename Android 3.3.1. I like it so far but one of my favorite things about AOKP was the scrolling "dock" I put this in quotes because I am not sure the proper name for this. It is the thing above the Nav Bar. I loved the fact you could add multiple scrollable docks to put app shortcuts there.
Does anyone know if this is available in CNA or if there is some sort of app that does this? If not any other ROMS out there that do it?
Thanks!

That's a launcher feature. Get Nova or Apex Launcher from Play Store.

New folder features, app drawer features, etc.

It works great with the Tablet UI mod. Now we don't have to use hacked launchers
Apex is nice but I have been using Nova since beta 1. The vertical scrolling in app drawer and transparency slider are nice additions if you're into that

I was more into Apex for a little while...but since Nova added (or when I noticed) shortcut activities that blow Apex out of the water its no contest.

I'm guessing you have some sort of hacked Prime then because I wasn't able to and I had to buy Prime.
But Nova Launcher is effing amazing. LOVE the folder option in App Drawer and the transparency. Nova is so much more smoother than Apex and these new features and just making it more epic.

You could be right and I agree with you regarding Nova. I love it!!
I like it better than Apex also. With Apex you can only save one backup of your settings and screen configuration. Nova lets you save as many as you want and you can rename the backups. It also does a better job of restoring IMO. In my settings there is a blue Prime banner on the option for Drawer Groups where you create the folders.

I was going to say it was smoother and maybe a bit faster than Apex. I think people say they like Apex better because they don't have to pay to get the Prime features. I was happy to pay for it since I have used it since beta 1. It was even great in the beginning. It was the only launcher that could pull me away from ADW EX. They did finally add swipe to hide dock which I did email them about because it was the only thing I was missing. I love being able to have a completely clean screen

I love Nova. Perfect upgrade from LauncherPro.
I like Nova Launcher prime allot. I purchased it after flashing a ROM that included the free version (I believe it was Venum ICE), and have used it as my daily launcher since.
I was wondering if anyone else has lost the ability to have the wallpaper scroll since the last update. Everything seemed to be working great until I updated it the other day. Out of nowhere, the wallpaper quit scrolling.

Same here BC. I think it started with FD16 and doesn't seem to matter which launcher you use. I tried installing Apex too and it didn't work with it either.
I stated to use Apex Launcher and installed an AOKP rom which had Nova preinstalled, I haven't look back sense. Nova +1

[DISCUSSION] What launcher you prefer on Jelly Bean?

Hi,
We all know that stock launcher in JB is soo smooth and fast.
And we all know that popular launchers (Nova, Apex and others) are not yet updated to run on JB or to run as smooth as stock JB launcher.
What are your experiences with 3rd party launchers on JB?
Are you planning to use stock while those 3rd party launchers are updated?
Any other houghts?
Good luck!!!
For me, Nova Prime is smoother than the stock Jellybean launcher.
Stock is by far the smoothest.
Apex is laggy especially in the app/widget drawer.
Same experience with nova.
I'll stick with stock for now.

But the guy above says Nova ir smoother. How come?!
I've noticed in other forums (outside XDA) people say the same about Nova (it's same smooth as stock JB).
I'm a heavy Apex user.. and I don't want to switch to other launcher. What are chances Apex dev will update his launcher with JB vSync (or whatever feature JB launcher uses)?
Stock.
I have 2 GNex both running 4.1.1 and one with Nova and the other with Apex.
I can definitely say for the moment, Nova is smoother. Especially with transition effects.
However I have been running Atom since last night and damn I'm impressed!
Now if it will only take icons from theme packs....

If you change Nova's animation speeds from Nova to Stock, you'd notice a major improvement in transition smoothness. Hence why I still use Nova.
I usually use ADW Launcher but I tried it on Jelly Bean and it is pretty slow in comparison to stock launcher so I will be using the stock launcher till updates happen to it (and others too).
I prefer stock for now, its super smooth

Stock has some great benefits, like fling to remove apps and widgets, app reflow, etc, but I'm still sticking with Nova. Kevin is updating the launcher with all the JB features, so we'll have JB smoothness with customizations from Nova. Winning!

Apex for sure.

Are there any custom launchers based on jelly bean yet?

Reason I ask is that the stock jb launcher is way faster and smoother than apex or nova but I can't use the stock launcher right now because I use 240 DPI and want 7x6 grid. The stutter when opening app drawer is unbearable. I tried different kernels and even different Roms same thing.
Anything available yet or should I just go back to stock density.

Dunno about Apex launcher but with Nova reportedly* you'll get smoothness if you go in to the animation speed options and select stock speed.
(* not my tip - I've always stuck with stock speed on Nova is working fine for me on JB)
I am using the paid version of Nova, which was updated yesterday to support JB animations and it is nothing but butter.

That's because stock launcher has nothing in it compared to Apex. I've run 3 JB roms now with apex launcher and Franco kernel. Fast as fast can be. I have to say I am quite disappointed in JB though, I find there is not much to their update.

[Q] A launcher that is closer to stock?

Hello all. I've been using nova launcher for a long time and I've been irritated a little because nova is not a complete replica of the stock android launcher (android 4.2). What I mean is, it looks similar but the spacing of the icons are not right (which I am able to adjust through nova settings) and the folder when opened its too close to the edge of my screen. Is there any other launcher that can possibly give me the closest feel to stock launcher apart from the stock launcher itself?
Thanks

Except it's not. The icons are at the top of their "areas" so there's a large gap at the bottom and almost none at the top. Changing the spacing affects both, so they are never even. Widgets seems to work properly. This has always bothered me about nova.

Can't live without nova prime launcher, the fact I can place more apps in folders an get rid of the useless stock search bar at top is worth it alone.
my question, why would they make a replica of Default launcher? if they're making a launcher they want to make sure its different and nothing like the default one..
if you know what i mean.. and btw i use nova launcher and i think its pretty neat and easy to use..
nova launcher is the best

Themer, Nova Launcher etc

OK, I have had a lot of problems getting widgets to stick to my homescreen after adding them. the defaults stay just fine and there are several that work as well from the play store, but beautiful widgets and hd widgets and widgetsoid, none of them work at all in the note 4 touchwiz homescreens.
I figured I would add a launcher to my phone so i could get my widgets back. The very first launcher I added was themer, and just as an fyi, they do not support the note 4 yet and it is not compatible. They did say on their support page however that there is support coming soon. there is no release date as to when they are expecting it to work.
The next launcher I tried was Nova and it worked flawlessly. So did APEX and Go Launcher. I have not tried some of the others yet such as NEXT launcher an TSF shell. I'll report back if and when I get time to try them out and see what happens.
I figured I would start this thread so that if anyone else is having issues with trying to add widgets on their stock homescreen and it doesnt work, then they could find a quick alternative here until the issues get resolved.
I was able to get next launcher to work as well but im not paying 12 bucks just to see if tsf works. gonna need someone else to try that one.

I'm actually enjoying the stock launcher on my phone. Reason being, is it seem to do notifications very well by putting the number next to each app. On my old phone, I use to use Next and loved it. I wouldn't mind putting it on my Note just to see how much better it'd perform, but again, I'd probably miss the whole notifications experience. Can someone comment on NEXT on the Note 4 vs stock launcher?

Main reason I use stock launchers is because of the widgets. Would be nice to get the best of both.

Exactly what TW widgets will Nova not allow. I've been running Nova on four different phones and now on the Note 4 without any issues what so ever.
One of the very first things I do is load up a launcher. I've used TSF, Nova, Go EX, and Next Launcher so far with this phone. My favorite for speed is Nova, for eye candy are the two Go based launchers (Go Ex and Next), and the most customizable is TSF Shell.
The reason I use launchers is to get more squeezed onto the screen at once, and then to dress things up a bit, especially on a phone that does not (yet) have root.
To the OP, so far, no widget issues at all with any of the above launchers.

However, I went back to my vzw store and did the 14 day exchange for another brand new note 4. Brought it home and instantly was able to add widgets etc to my home screen. I'm not sure why my first one gave me issues for about 3-4 days. Has anyone else at all had the widget issue when initially setting up their phone?
