Hello!
My Samsung Galaxy 3 is rooted with stock rom. Everything works just fine. I want to change SD 16 gb to SD 32 gb. I've copied everything from one card to another but Galaxy III doesn't see anything on this card. What else do I need to do or what I did wrong?
Old card class 4. New one class 10. What I'm doing wrong?
Help me, Please?
Did you format it in the phone first?

I have just ordered a 16GB SD card to replace the 8GB one I have.
Do I need to format the new card in the phone before transferring the old data?
You have to format it somewhere to be sure you have correct cluster size.
Try card after that with free SD tools (http://veluscek.amebis.si/index.asp?selektiran=sdtools). There is free market link.

I am also purchasing a 16Gb SD card . I was going to format it using the phone. You can unmount the sd card and then format it. Is this not a good idea?
I was also going to copy the contents of my current card to my pc, and then copy it back to my new SD card. I am assuming this is the correct way of doing things.
I just changed to a 16GB Class 2 about 2 weeks ago. I just copied everything from the 8GB to my computer. Put the 16 in, and copied everything from the computer to the 16. Everything is working fine. No formating. I did check the phone before copying to it (16), and the format option was not selectable. It was grayed out, so I just copied.
would upgrading the stock 8gig sd card to a class 6 make any difference?

You'd probably only really notice a big difference when copying files from the PC to the phone. Don't think you'd see much of an improvement when opening anything on the phone.

If I'm not mistaken, mine is already upgraded (so-called) to class 10 from my previous phone. I however do not notice any difference in performance.
I think suddy86 is right. Even if there is, I guess it would be hardly noticed.
I have purchased a class 6 card. It was only a couple of quid more than a class 4. Its a Kingston SD Card, so should be good. Didnt fancy buying an unbranded cheaper card.
Another question that I am curious about. Can a nandroid backup made on a 8GB sd card, be restored on a 16GB card?
i believe you can just copy the contents of the 8gig to the 16gig (unless its a gold card)
I am having problems with my SD card. I used to have a mytouch, and I bought a Sandisk 4GB back then. When I got the S2 back in Decemeber 2011, all i did was format the micro card to work. The S2 shows that its there under Storage, but i have always have difficulties actually using it. You will see that it has some used into it. I can only reach it through USB connection and transfer file that way. However, whenever I use any programs which can be install under SD card, it will not do so.
As you will noticed below i have a problem call App 2 SD Pro, which it will only show both memories with my phone, Storage and USB, which is the same phone memory. By no means, its finding the Micro SD card. Can anyone tell me why is this? This phone is not rooted and i have only 2.3.6.
Thank you in advance.
If you look through your list of folders under /sdcard, your micro sd is the 'external_sd" folder.
Yes that is true. Is under External SD card. My question is, why are some programs, mostly all, having difficulties to find it? and can i have all for example game files, be saved onto my "external SD Card"?
What is the speed of your sd card?
class 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10?

How would i know that? all i can see on the card is, Sandisk 2 in circle, 4GB SDHC micro. Where else can i check? which class is best?
You have a class 2. It has been my experience that when you move an app to sd card, on this phone it uses the internal "USB" storage.
So what can i do to do the opposite? Meaning, using the actual SD card instead of the internal.

I'm having the same issue too.... I know what you mean.... I try to back up my phone but it won't... Help please
Okay , so i recently got a 32 GB memory card. I want to switch from my 8 GB to this one, but im not sure if my phone will still work the same. Considering im rooted and using the SOS S ROM.
So im wondering if i just copied over everything on the 8GB to the 32GB will everything still be cool and work. Or do I have to do some other stuff ...
please help . thank you.
You should be just fine, just transfer everything from your old SD Card to your new one (make sure nothing is in the new SD Card)
I'm in the same boat as you are. I'm switching from 8 gb to 32 gb. I posted Q:"sd card". Save data from old sd to computer, put it back on to the 32gb.

Im going to try this out right now . Ill let you know how it goes .
Goodluck, hope all goes well
do you have to format the memory card to the phone ?
You don't have to but I would say yes, then just delete the files in it after and transfer the stuff from your old SD Card.
I'm running the Blazer rom with the Jellybomb domination theme. I have a 16GB SanDisk class 2 microSD card. I formated it, it erased everything etc... but as soon as it's done it still says SD card damaged, may need to re-format. What am I doing wrong, or is there a fix for this?

so lemme get this right u wanna format ur ext sd?
Well, perhaps the card is damaged?? Or is one of those fake knockoffs from China.
What I'd try first, is to put it in a PC.. use a normal Format on it (not quickformat)
See what happens... if the PC can format it, then go to step 2 below.. if not it's damaged/fake for sure.
Step 2.. Download one of the many SD card testing software I'd use H2testw.
If everything comes back fine.. then you should be able to pop it into your phone without an issue.. just be sure to format in Fat32 for the best compatibility.
Also, 16gig Class 2 is pretty much the bottom of the barrel card wise.. you can get 32gig class 6 or better for under $20 online at most retailers.. I've seen 32g Class 10 for 30-40, and just bought myself a 64 class 10 from amazon for 55 shipped.
Might be time to upgrade that card
Hi, I am hoping someone can help me figure out how to fix this issue. I had a 32gb micro sd card in my new Galaxy S3 that I just got a few days ago. I went and rooted the device with the 32gb card.
Today I picked up a 64gb micro sd card and put it in and went into Clockworkmod to do a back up to my sd card and it tells me there is an error and it can find the path to the external sd card. I put all the files in the root of the 64gig card just like I did on the 32gig card.
Is there a way to reset everything to make clock work mod see the new card? Cause it just keeps giving me errors when I try to do anything with the new card in clock work mod.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help
By default 64gb cards are formatted as exfat. CWM does not and probably willneversupport exfat file systems. Your best bet is to get it formatted as fat32.

will see if this works. Thank you I really do appreciate it.
