I'm having a big problem with my car sub playing bass when I play music from my phone with Google Music. The 6x9s and door speakers play fine except for bass off the sub with Google Music. CDs, the radio, and even Pandora play fine with all speakers including the sub. It's just the darn Google Play Music app giving me troubles. This is a huge inconvenience because all my music is stored in the cloud.
Is anyone else having this problem or can send me in the right direction for a fix?

no problem here sir! jammed the new Rick Ross the other day on the way home from work thru my auxiliary plug with absolutely no problem... crystal clear sound from components and two 12s... check the equalizer settings within the rom... i know on Clarks rom, the stock equalizer has 3d effect enabled by default and garbles the bass output unless u go in and turn it off... if that doesn't fix it then i would say try a different cable... i would assume u have downloaded ur music to ur device from the cloud? if u somehow manage to stream music to ur phone while driving then it's possible that google could be compressing the stream depending on the settings... check ur settings on that as well

I love the phone (got it launch day) puts my Mytouch 3G to shame. I love everything about this phone....... well except for one thing.
I am having a hell of a time with audio playback. 60% of the time i try to play back music on stock music player it tells me that the audio format is not supported on this device. using Winamp wasnt much of a help as it will just cycle through songs and freeze up.
resetting the phone helps sometimes but not everytime.
I also tried removing all the music from my phone and re-copying all the files. still an issue.
I've also noticed it acts up a lot more via bluetooth (i have a pair of rocketdog behind the ear headphones)
I'm stumped...
Any ideas? Anyone else getting this issue?
codec, song encoding comes to mind
also try with different amount of songs
i know on the old SGS if you had more than few hundreds of mp3 or mix format songs in it, it can drive it crazy
so try a couple hundreds, then work your way up, until you find the amount of files it can read before it becomes too much.
all this can be fixed once rooted, and installing better media players
winamp for android sucks by the way
you should try the ICE cream leaked media player from stock android, it's better
Curious why not just stream the music from ur pc?? google music is practically flawless
Seen a user in another thread had to format their card in this phone, then add music. Try that.

I tried this last night. didn't help much. I'm 99.98% sure it has something to do with my bluetooth headphones. Going to buy a new pair and see if it makes a difference...

If you get the sony ericsson mw600, you'll be amazed at their features. I love them and use them all the time and the battery lasts longer than the specs say. I can get 14hrs out of them.
Just picked up a new set of headphones.... does the exact same thing.... odd.... wondering if its just my phone or if this is a glitch...haven't seen anyone else report this.
Pandora and google music work great with my motorola s10-hd headset...

I'll be getting my phone tues. I use sony dr-bt22 bluetooth headphones.... will report back.
I have this problem when steaming music over A2DP through stock Music app or Google Music. All 320kbps fixed rate MP3s. I've tried via my integrated car audio, computer, headphones... all same result when playing local media. Streaming via Rdio works completely fine. Playing local media without A2DP also works fine... Logcat reports some kind of permission related problem...
Weird, I play FLAC or 320s all day long on this thing and no "Format Unsupported" has come up on regular headset/aux cable or BT. I have however, had a problem with the music stopping when I get a notification..the time continues to move but no sound.
Just an update, my stereo BT headphones work fine
Hi guys, I did a search and I can't find anything on this, if it's already been answered I do apologize. I've got a kenwood stereo in my car that connects to the phone and streams music over bluetooth. I've used this on my last 2 phones (Samsung Epic, and HTC EVO) with no problems. Now with the Galaxy SII, i can't stream music. It will connect and do voice calls no problem, but when i try to play music, it just skips through every song on the list and then freezes. The only time it worked was the first time I connected it to my stereo. Has anyone else had this problem? Since I use Google Music, all of my music is streamed and I have to do it through bluetooth, this has become quite a pain!
i'm on a clarion CZ 509 no problem streaming from my phone to the car
it does it automatically as soon as the car is in the phone range
which some times is kinda annoying, when you don't want it to auto stream
Yeah, mine will connect automatically and phone calls and dialing work with no issues. It's just streaming music. I'm going to try and delete my phone from the deck and re-connect it, hopefully that works. I'm trying to avoid having to replace my phone or do a hard reset.
my deck can save up to 5 phones pairing
so i just assigned a new profile to the SGS2 when i got it
the other ones registered are my old I9000, XT720 and Nexus S
there is another trick you can use
in the phone in the BT profile after pairing, hold the profile for 2 sec, it will pop up a sub menu, in which you can choose both option or only 1 of them
in which case it's BT audio, or BT phone
so play around with that and see
another thing which i don't know if your deck allows you to do is to Pair the phone as a Media device, or Phone device
so in my deck can can pair the phone to be only as a phone device, or only as a media device, or both
I tried messing around with those options, however it either disconnects the phone completely (unchecking the phone box) or just plays the music through the phone (unchecking the media box). I tried streaming another song through the stock music app, and that worked, so I think it may be google music itself. I had downloaded the ICS version, so now i'm trying to downgrade back to current. I'll have to check to see if works later, as now it won't connect to my account to grab all of my music. Thanks for the replies though, I'll keep this updated incase anyone else has the same issues.
now that you mention it, that might be it
the DRM license thing kicking in
i just found that was causing some random crash on my phone as well, removed music 4.0 and installed another music player, now everything is back to normal
i use jukefox to play music, it automatically creates everything that is necessary, like albums, auto get the missing album covers, etc, etc...
1 button does it all
then you just pick or randomly choose what you want to hear, easy music browsing for when you are driving
Yeah it's definitely a google music issue on my phone. The stock player works fine, but that doesn't help me, I keep all of my music uploaded to the google cloud, and have no way to access it right now. Even with the regular current apk I am having issues. I'll have to wait and see if they can update it for this drm issue I think. For now I'll just use the current stock player and fill up my sd card and play off of that
that's what i do
i play it off my SD card
get a 32 GB or 64 GB and you'll have plenty of space to load all your favourite albums
i keep several copies of 32 GB for different albums / movies
So just a followup to this, I did a hard reset today on my phone and it still doesn't help. Turns out, it only does this when connected through bluetooth, and it's a song that's been "made available offline". If i'm actually streaming a song, there are no issues, but any of my playlists or albums that are saved won't play through bluetooth (they will play normally however). Hopefully this can be fixed in an update through Google Music.
So, i've had this issue as well and it appears to be something to do with "shuffle".
At first I disconnected bluetooth and then started playing the music on my phone and made sure to turn ON shuffle..I then turned bluetooth back on in my radio and once it connected...all was well. I didn't like this solution and decided I needed to find an alternative.
I then downloaded the MIUI music app (which has always been my favorite) and the music streaming is working normally now
Was this an issue that you experienced with the google music beta app, or just the standard music player that came with the phone? Mine has only had issues on the music beta app, and it didn't matter if i had shuffle on or not. I've been using the standard music app that came installed on the phone and have had no issues since. On another note, does anyone know if you can see album art through bluetooth? I'm able to get song , artist, and album info, but I've never seen album art come through yet. I'm not sure if this is something bluetooth can handle or not.
Stock app. I just installed music beta and it seems to work fine like miui music

I take that back, music "beta" just did it to me too. Back to miui

Greetings. Im hoping someone might be able to help me with a very annoying problem im having.
I have somewhere around 2000 music tracks, all of which are uploaded to Google Music. Ive had GMusic since they first announced the beta and i love the fact that my entire library is everywhere I go. I also love that i can download the tracks directly on my phone, from my phone.
However using the app to play music is horrible. In the past i used poweramp, which is a wonderful player. My main problem with Google Music is it audibly cuts the power from the headphone jack in between tracks, so when i have it hooked up to my car stereo i hear a pop when the track changes... which annoys me to utter hell. On top of that it behaves weirdly some times, for example i had it set to shuffle all the other day, and it would stop on every song, and i would have to hit play manually to go to the next song.
What i would like to do is go back to using PowerAmp, but be able to manage my music as easily as i do with GMusic. Problem is that, PowerAmp doesnt see the music i download from the GMusic app and the one time it did, all the meta-data wasnt there. So all poweramp said was "Unknown track 1".
The other side of the problem is managing it on my computer. Since i bought music from Itunes and Google Music, keeping everything organized has become a nightmare(i have a number of compilations, and when you download the music from google music, it organizes it by artist not by the album). Which is why i dont want to have to manually move files to my phone. Ive tried WinAmp and Double Twist, and both have their annoyances. I was wondering what other people do, maybe someone can make my life easier.
subsonic, streams from your PC, no need to upload it to the cloud and it the UI is not bad either. it can also cache your streams for offline play
I'm looking for the best quality music I can find, for my car's system, and I don't want to buy that cheap low-bass, washed out stuff.
I don't have any previous experience other then free downloads so I don't know what apps will sound good or whether I'm having issues like: when I buy a song then my phone is re-flashed to stock will I permanently lose the song(s) that I downloaded?
Google music and Amazon both have hit bit rate music. If you want a streaming service, MOG streams 320kbps music as well, but be......prepared ....... for.......buf......fer.......ing..... on Sprint's crappy service. Still better than the limited crap you get on other carriers.

Car Audio.... is a bit complicated.
If you are using Aux input on your factory car radio,
The files are converted on your phone to music. ( a.k.a DAC)
your phone thinks music is output to headphone.. so it does not amp it as much..as the car radio wants it.
IF you want the best music quality for your car... Use line out to Aftermarket radios so DAC is done on the car...
as far as the files goes... streaming music sucks.. even at 320k mp3 music is compressed I'm back to Flac. ( and downloading them )
I use ICS 4.0.3 rom with DSP Manager. which help to bringout the dynamics.
I recently buy a moto 360 and update it to 4.4w.2, so theres a option that says you can save your music in the watch from the google play music app, my cuestion is if you can select the music that you want to transfer?
I have marked the option in the phone, but doesnt transfer the music to my watch, anyone can help me?
I don't think there's an option for that. There's no speaker, so what's the point?

There certainly is an option for it. The watch allows pairing with bluetooth devices. I've successfully paired my watch with a bluetooth speaker and played music to it with my phone being completely off.
OP, I just selected the option to download to wear in the google play music app settings and then you should see the watch say that it's transferring. It works better if you put the watch on the charger right after you enable the option in google play music. The transfer speed is ridiculously slow.
As of now, you cannot select which music you want to transfer. The music that will be transferred is whichever music you have downloaded to your phone in Google play music.
