[Q] Will be in an airplane.

So I'll be flying from California to another state, in the us. And I was wondering if I'll get data, reception on the plane trip, be able to tether, and I'm on sprint not metro pcs.

It's not likely. I've never gotten a signal. They may have wifi though.

You can still do airplane mode and turn Wi-Fi on separately (IF the carrier offers it) to handle this case. I actually do this when I'm trying to conserve the battery and just need Wi-Fi.

I used to have data from Honolulu to the big island all the way but they didn't get high on the flight and it's only like 35 Minutes

I totally agree with EpicFlair, is that really a chance you want to take. Take a book with you and read instead.

Usually above 10000 ft msl you will lose signal. Most flights well go over that altitude so I'm going to say you will probably lose signal on your flight

my father is a flight attendant so I have to agree with this =P even if it wouldn't harm anything you should still respect them and make their job easier as their just following what their told to do.

The FAA is actually considering cchanging the electronics regulations on flights. Since the early 90s most of the avionics on commercial aircraft have been EMF sheilded and post 9/11 the EMF sheilding has gotten even more sophisticated, as well as they have changed the frequencies alot.of their electronics function on to prevent terrorists from using an EMF emitter or other electronic device to simply interfere with flight equipment to bring a plane down. They have more recently (since 2009/10) been doing extensive testing on the effects of electronics and their ability to actually interfere or harm the flight avionics and have found that there is little to no threat of standard consumer electronics doing any harm to the plane or its equipment. During takeoff and landing are the only times there's even minor interference and the FCC and FAA are now debating on putting cell repeaters on the bottom of the planes similiar to the antennas they use for in-flight wifi. But currently it is still against regulations except during specified times when electronics are allowed to be in use, however you won't get any cell service in-flight because cell towers broadcast out and downwards and very little of the cell spectrum travels upwards

What about some Mac Dre luv...yeah maybe he wasn't as good as pac, but he had some dope music, until the whole hyphy movement garbage. E-40 was ok , his music started to suck right about the time he came out with tell me to go. The hyphy thing should've never happened, it killed the west coast

Sprint Employment

Hey question for all you under sprints employ. I am looking into a position at a local sprint store they are looking to fill. Sales/tech rep or whatever. I was wondering if any sprint guys would give me some info. Do you enjoy working for sprint? How is the pay? Whats an average paycheck between hourly and commission? How do they treat you? Is it hard to go to shool while working there? (Im in college) I have a fairly stable job right now but it doesn't pay very well and I hate it. The last time I was in the sprint store I knew twice as much about phones as the one guy and was helping customers around me. I think I would thoroughly enjoy it but am looking for the inside scoop...

Hey, I just started at a local indirect dealership 2 weeks ago. I'm a junior in college and I'll tell you that it doesn't interfere. Our store hours are from 9a to 6p so its not like an all day gig. This is an indirect store so sprint does not own it. We are like a liaison between customers and sprint. I'm treated very well and believe it or not, sprint does a nice job answering questions I have about sales, tech, markets or anything. I make 9 an hr plus com. And sprint has the my rewards program as an incentive.

My brother has 7 years working for sprint and he really enjoys it . He's a Regional Manager in New York now and its a lot of work but he has never complained about the company and they pay him well too.

Sprint tech is an awesome job, if you know what you are doing. Also, the clientele of each particular store greatly affects how content you are in the job. I worked at an indirect dealer for many years. I loved it at one location, survived at another, and finally told the populace to stick their phones up their asses at the last one.
Most of the time people are cool, but other times you have ignorant assholes who can't understand how dropping their phones in a lake, IS THEIR FAULT. Sprint doesn't owe you the world because you pay for a service millions of others do.
Good luck in your endeavor, the only thing I can advise you, is to treat every person the way you would expect to be treated.

Every job I have had has been customer service so I feel your pain. But I am also very used to that part of it. 9 an hour plus commission would be more than I now make which is itself enough incentive to try. I just met and chatted w/ the regional manager and could get an interview quick. I think it is an environment I would thrive in. I have experience for sales, passion for tech, and am quite familiar with android software. Thanks for the info guys

Its okay but our manager pretty much hates technicians because he says they don't make money for the store like sales reps do... (sigh)

That's one of the main problems with uneducated management in this country. They greatly undervalue the people who really keep the business running. Too much focus on increasing MRR can destroy a company.

The store is a smaller one. There isn't a whole department of techs like the larger one I went to. Its usually about 3 guys and the manager so its more like sales/tech...

As a tech, its been the only job I haven't grown to hate after a year lol.
I really do love it. Could the pay be better? Hell yes. But the benefits are great. Do I feel under appreciated as a tech? Of course. But silently knowing you keep the wheels moving is gratifying. The only part that gets on my nerves is inventory. Techs are solely responsible for that, and it's just tedious. But the actual repair aspect is cake.
The ability to get free phones, whether it be through the advocate program or from the OEMs holding events where they give them away, is the best part, if you're a geek like me. I got my E4GT for free 3 months into the job, so I was pretty much hooked after that lol.

Its a 6 store franchise I applied for. I mentioned employment in store and got interviewed on the spot. Crushed the interview. Looking really good. Thanks for all the insight. After the interview I am pretty pumped about it. It should be a huge upgrade from my current job.

Very much so depending on surveys. We are graded as a whole, so if one guy gets a bad survey there goes commission out of everyone's pocket

Then he does not need to be manager! That tech depending pin how good he or she is might make a difference in return customers. My local repair center has a great tech and lousy customer service.

You are funny. I was actually at the October 2 game when the Giants ended the Dodgers season. I was a temporary Dodger fan so they could be alive for post season so that the Giants could end their season. Now we have won one more championship than you guys this will end the arrangement on who is the superior baseball team. They can make a Dodgers Rom when they win a championship. LOL. Maybe the developers can make a Rom for the reigning champion.

I am from Nor-Cal- "SanFran-F#@K Yeahea" Team America style! And yet, I now live in So-Cal... "Dodgers-F#@K Noooooeeeo" (I kid... I root for all Cali teams- equally. But I do prefer NorCal teams due to childhood memmories- Will Clark, Joe Montana, Lott, Rice, even the McGuire before steriods. I would sport the SF Rom- no sweat. Tiger Orange would be nice. Now all we need is the Niners to win the Superbowl.

i think this was like the worst ratings world series in history. I know game one was. noone cares about the giants, lol. not that i can talk being from boston. right now i wouldnt even want a redsox theme thats for sure.

Giants may have won the series in a landslide victory but that was because the Detroit tigers suck. They played like a minor league team.

Yes. I was born in San Francisco, CA and I currently live in Daly City the closest city to San Francisco. Go Giants. I have been a Giants fan every since I was weaned from drinking milk from my momma nipple which was about 40 years ago.
I drove 500 miles to watch the Giants end the Dodgers season and it was orgasmic.How many championships do we have to win before people start respecting the Giants.The Giants beat the world champions St. Louis Cardinals and afterward beat the Tigers who swept the Yankees. This baseball team is the greatest team every assembled in this decade.

The St. Louis Cardnals played well enough to be world champions. If they would have faced the Tigers they would have destroyed them just like the Giants. The Cardnal are clearly the second best team in baseball.

I am in the DC area... We are trying to stay dry and keeping the phones and all of our extra batteries charged just in case the power goes out.

I'm from Florida. Cat 1 barely rates bringing in the lawnchairs, plastic pink flamingos and putting on a rain jacket. Life doesn't get sporty until you get to Cat 3 or higher!

Just north of Baltimore. Lots of wind and moderate rain. Not getting slammed as bad as we did last year this time. The blizzard put 2.5 feet of snow on my kitchen roof and caved it in. The best is yet to come according to the news.

Im in brooklyn NY and the wind here has been crazy so far on my block 3 cars and one house porch smashed in by huge tree branches. But just 15 min ago the best (or worst ) one, a whole tree with the concrete block surrounding it gets knocked over across the whole street and into the yard across it just missing the house by a few feet.
As a side note low light pictures with my SG3 are not bad .....

North East MD here..just wanted to give a shout out to verizon for letting a sprint customer roam on their service...sprint service stayed working but was so bad with 1 bar ..luckily my note and gs3 would jump on the verizon network and my speeds would increase by 10 (3g)...i know some folks might be tired of hearing me say it but sprint should be ashamed of themselves for calling what i have "premium data"..and charging me accordingly...

I read about it online today and didn't realize how bad it was along the coast! Prayers go out to those affected by this storm
