Stock Rom boot Rooted | Tethering Issue - HTC One V

I have finally rooted my One V CDMA Virgin phone. I know it is rooted cause the SU request goes through and says "granted"..
I am trying a couple tethering apps, open garden, WiFi Tether, etc. All of them fail. Thankfully WiFi Tether has a log to show.

Did Virgin really gimp the stock rom? If so what is the best rom to go with? Everyone I see something is not working like bluetooth or camcorder (CM9 or CM10).
I really need help, I have done iphones and ipads all day. Even unlocked my nexus 7. I really want tethering to work via bluetooth or wifi. Want my sexy JB girl to tell me driving directions! LOL. On the One V it sounds like she has a cold, or has multiple personalities (LOL it changes TTS voice randomly sometimes).
Thank you!

*Update: FoxFi works with Bluetooth but not Wifi. Which sucks cause its a VPN connection and for some reason Google Now does not like that.

I'm surprised by the lack of replies. It looks like we have to find a stable non-stock rom to flash to in order to get tethering. I have the EXACT same problem on my girlfriends phone.

Unlocked Bell HD7 (T9295) on AT&T

If you don't already know, the unlocked Bell HD7's 3G bands are the needed bands required for AT&T (850,1900). I received my unlocked Bell HD7 from Negri Electronics today and I was super excited to get it going on AT&T here in The States but ran into a very weird problem...
Basically, I can't connect to 3G/HSDPA/EDGE internet. Now, the weird thing is that it SHOWS I'm using AT&T and that indeed I am on HSDPA (see pics below). Calling and messaging work fine BTW. If I want to do anything requiring data, the 3G/HSDPA/EDGE connection won't work and I'm forced to use wifi.
I'm tired of hard-reseting and flipping switches on and off... I just hard-reset the bastard one last time and now I wait for your advise. What do I do? Thanks in advance

first, very jealous of you my friend. my guess is you would have to set up at&t apn. i don't know at&t apn setting so you would have to google that. hope you got it to work.
Sweet! I found the APN settings as you said and now I'm fully connected . Thank you very much!

[Q] Using EVO as GPS device for laptop

While preparing to storm chase last night I started to wonder if there was a way to use my EVO to send GPS coordinates to my radar software on my laptop. Has anyone done something similar to this? I've looked at apps that were supposedly suppose to do this in the past, but was not able to get them to work.
Just wanted to know if anyone else had any experience doing this. I already use wireless tethering for the internet connection now, but it would be great if I could just bring the laptop and phone and have it all covered.
Also, as a side note, I have noticed a handful of apps that will send the data via Bluetooth, but I do not have Bluetooth available on my laptop, so I would prefer to just be able to transmit via USB. I may just have to break down and buy a bluetooth module for my laptop.
As of right now it seems that this isn't possible. Someone else with a Droid incredible wanted to do the exact same thing. It seems that gps module in the phone isn't capable of sending anything via USB. Maybe Bluetooth would actually work! Here's the read.

Big problem after flashing ... "Searching"

Hi, everyone I had a rooted GS2 and yesterday I flash the lightly tweaked ROM made by Mr. X for wifi calling. The phone was having problems with wifi calling, so i decided to flash the original Wifi calling update from T-mobile via ODIN and now after i flashed the phone it shows "searching" and it won't find the T-mobile network.
What do you guys recommend i do?
thanks
Flash the stock ROM, wait and see if it finds the network. If everything is normal, flash the update.
I dont think mrx rom requires an update being flashed, it didnt for my phone
Yeah people in the thread were having problems and i read somewhere that it was recommended to do what i did so the baseband number can be updated.
I have flashed back to stock ( the original update before the wifi calling update) and it still shows "searching".

This is what I get when i try to manually select the T-Mobile network. BTW i took out my SIM card and put it in an unlocked iphone 3GS and it works just fine.
Any help? I basically have a brick laying around now.

[Q] Wi-Fi tethering

Coming from the Palm Pre I used to use a Preware app that allowed me to tether my phone. Is there such an app for the S3? Any recommendations?
Get rooted and it's easy. Most custom ROMS have it built in. For an app I used the "Wi-Fi tether for root users" app for years. When I went to the GS3 I couldn't get it to work. I could see it with my laptop and connect but I got no data transfer. However I'm now running the M.O.A.R. Rom now and it's built in, I just hit it from my pull down menu. Works great!

There are bluetooth tether apps that work fine without root. And usb hardwire tethers also.
Also zoom made a usb wifi battery operated router you can run their Android app with to share your phones connection. And it charges your phone at the same time.

Rooted my phone, now I get shoddy data - Did I screw up?

Hey xda,
So I recently got an S8+ after having an iPhone 6 for 2 years, and boy have I missed Android OS. First thing I wanted to do with the phone was root so I could install Viper4Android. I found the SamFAIL root method on this forum and got root access and installed V4A without issues. But now my internet connection is intermittent. For example, I just ran a speed test and it took 35 seconds for the ping test (274 ms) and download speed was 0.03 Mbps and upload speed was 0.01 Mbps.

Before the root, my phone was Baseband version G955USQU1AQK |Build number NRD90M.G955USQU1AQK3
and now after the root it is Baseband version G955USQS1AQI6 | Build number NRD90M.G955USQS1AQI6
I'm not sure if that is the issue, or if some sort of network settings aren't properly configured, but any advice in the right direction to fix this issue would be much appreciated.
Let me know if there's any required info I would need to provide to further diagnose.
I would start over. Flash stock and re-root again. The only real issues with root that I've experienced are discoloration of the screen (which is temporary and can be cleared with a few screen off/on and unlocks) and the battery not charging past 80% (which some believe is just cosmetic). But my data speeds are still the same as before.
