Car mount / cradle - Samsung Captivate Glide

Folks,
Is anyone using any car mount or cradle with Glide?
I know that is going to be impossible to slide the keyboard while mounted, but I would like to use the camera.
Since the back cover of Glide is not plain, I am not sure if it will stick to Clingo's dash mount.
Thanks!
Best regards,

I just bought a mount at Walmart that has a suction cup to the windshield, the holder is very versatile as it resizes for almost any size phone. It also rotates but of course no opening for the keyboard.

is anyone know about a designated one for tee glide?

I'd try a tarantula/spider-looking generic mount and twist it into an air vent. -Ara

I tried a few mounts, and have settled on two.
One: http://dx.com/p/universal-car-mount-holder-for-pda-cell-phones-mp3-mp4-gps-9-3-12-5cm-39880
It sits well, the downside is that it can get shaky on the bumps
No camera though
Two: arkon has one that plugs into an air vent. I use it in the summer because phone gets very hot in the sun, and AC cools it a bit. That same model with the windshield mount will let you use the camera
http://www.arkon.com/megagrip/
If you want the keyboard to extend, I found one for i9000 that it sits snug, and you're able to open the keyboard. The downside is that I'm a little wary of it loosening the keyboard from the screen, so use at your own risk. http://dx.com/p/car-air-outlet-swivel-mount-holder-for-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-110285 That one is the air vent model, but they have windshield one just like that
Haven't found anything specifically for the glide
---------- Post added at 11:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:02 PM ----------
PS If you like I can take some pictures tomorrow so you see exactly how the phone sits in them.
And yes, I wasted money on bunch of mounts before finding ones I liked

my Walmart one looks like your "Arkon Mega Grip Flexible Windshield & Dash Mount for Smartphones" just without the feet at the bottom. Oh and mine was more expensive.

I travel alot and one of the main reasons I bought the GS2 was for the big screen to use with Nav. Just ordered this today. Will post pics and review
REVIEW:
Got the dock today. Gotta say, not too bad. Although I don’t really think it’s worth more than about $25 tops. The build quality is ok. Everything is plastic, but it feels kind of light (the suction holder). Guess that’s a good thing if it’s being mounted to the windshield.
What’s included: Phone Dock, Suction Holder, Car Charger, Sticky suction pad (to use on your dash)
Suction Holder
There are 3 main components to this. The suction it pretty heavy duty. Probably better than my Garmin windshield mount. Once positioned on the glass, there’s a lever you push down drawing the air out making for a pretty good and strong contact. To release it from the windshield is just as easy. Just pull the same lever up to release.
The holder allows for full 360 rotation of the phone. Loosen the round knob to position and tighten. Once tightened, it’s pretty snug.
Where the phone dock connects, the suction holder has a little spring loaded push lever that’s used to clamp the phone dock to the holder. Same method is used to release the phone dock.
Phone Dock
Again, it’s pretty light. I wouldn’t say it’s feels cheap but just really light. The phone fits in pretty sung. It’s definitely not going anywhere. The dock also has a cut out for the camera, which is nice if you want to take pics of the road or maybe even a video of the guy in front of you with a lowered Silverado with a mural of his trunk on his tailgate 
Once the phone is in, the bottom end of the phone dock slides in and out making the usb contact. On the back of the dock, you have a micro usb port for charging and a 3.5mm line out jack. My only concern is with time, this portion will get loose. Seems like there’s 2 positions this click into as you slide it one way or the other.
Car Charger
It’s a micro usb car charger. Nothing more to say. Always good to have a spare one.
The dock definitely DOES NOT accept the phone with any cases. Don’t know about skins though. It’s a pretty sung fit with. Going to head over to TMO sometime this week and pick up the a ZAGG Dry application skin and see.
Figured it would, but as soon as you slide the plug from the dock into the phone, it goes into car mode right away, even without it being plugged into a power source. This can be deactivated by going into notifications and clicking Deactivate Car mode.
All in all, I’d have to say I’m pretty pleased with it. Not really pleased about how much it costs, but hey…It would have been nice for them to include an audio cable with the package. I bought this to replace my older Garmin Nav. Figure it’s much easier having this than traveling with the Garmin.
Update: Looks like this is going back. The line-out doesn't work. Getting no sound

does anyone else find it interesting that all of these same accessories cost $29.95 with the Vibrant and now cost $44.95 with the SGSII?
Thinking of picking this up:

Seems like a decent quality holder that will work no matter any case I use.

Nope. Makes sense, T-Mobile just released the phone so they hiked up all prices on "new" accessories. It's all naming/branding my man.
Looks nice...if u get it post some pics please.

It is cheaper on Amazon. I am searching for a few other universals and I will make a decision in a day or two.
Was feeling frisky so picked it up at the store with the phone. Works great but the phone is held rather tightly and requires two hands to remove it when getting out of your car. Might loosen a bit over time, but a PITA for now. Phone also recognizes that this is a car dock (as opposed to desktop dock) and kicks on the VoiceTalk app automatically. Kind of nice.
-- edit --
Used a universal on my last phone... have to say that having the charger plug into the mount directly is hands-down worth the extra money. I hated having to find the dangling end of the usb cord every time I got in my truck... especially in the dark. With the made-for-it mount, you sit the phone in the mount and then slide the bottom part up which engages the charge and locks in the phone. All with one hand.

Have one and the best part about this mount is that it sticks to almost part in my car. Aside from the really curved parts.
Bought my first car dock for my old Vibrant few months ago, now have to get it again for my new SGS2. Like before I am getting OEM directly from Samsung website. Not sure what TM sells but the one I saw in their store looks pretty crappy from some 3rd party vendor.

The car dock... excuse me, "vehicle navigation mount" I got at the t-mo store two days ago is a Samsung-branded accessory. Guy had to actually open the box that UPS delivered that morning. Perhaps your store didn't have them yet?
Good for you! I guess the TM store I had a pleasure to visit had different model on display. Looked really ugly comparing to oem model.

What do you think of these Herbert Richter German made windshield mount? The mount is used in a Pioneer AVIC-F500BT GPS which is quite heavy.

Probably not as it is made to fit the device snugly. This is why I use a pouch belt clip as I use my phone all the time for navigation and can't be taking a case on and off every time.

Bummer. I need one that works with cases and has a longer arm to position the unit closer to the dash from the deeply set window. I really liked my previous one that I got from Amazon, but the bearing wore out or something and it won't stay in any position other than limply hanging down now...
Thanks for the review!

[Q] What vehicle mounts for a Epic 4G Touch will work with an Otterbox Defender case?

I am trying to identify either a windshield or vent car mount that will be compatible with the Otterbox Defender case for the D710. Will the Otterbox Defender case work with Samsung's OEM Mount? If not, are there any other mounts available that will work? I'm not sold on the Tetrax mount, though it appears that it would work, and am looking for an alternative.
I found a Cygnett windshield mount at Frys for like $17. It grips the phone really well and ive never had it pop off the windshield yet. Cant post links but its pretty easy to find on their site
I've been using one of the universal adjustable mounts that should fit the 'box without a problem but I'm starting to re-think the windshield mount... I have it mounted close the drivers side A-pillar... and in my car there's an airbag in there. I'm concerned that if that airbag goes off I'm going to have a phone impaled in my face.

I never thought of that possibility, probably because my blazer doesn't have one. I can't recall ever seeing a legal disclaimer any of the mounts I've used (probably because they would be in the instructions where no man would ever find them). Or nobody has sued for that yet.
I usually put mine in the center of the windshield but for road trips I like it on the side window. Charging cable is a pain if just running errands. [IDEA]usb port in door panel[/IDEA]

you're right, ur phone will kill you if you have it that way. the one I use says specifically in the directions not to keep in an air bag deploy area. also using a universal one that works well, just sits on the dash and didn't need adhesives. can't charge though without some ugly cords dangling near the radio and controls.

I have to find some video to see how that particular airbag deploys... but it is concerning to me. Ideally I'd like to get the phone off of the windshield anyway because it gets a lot of sun load up there. Not an issue in the moderate months but in the summer it can get very toasty on the dash even when the car is in use. i remember my old EVO hitting its thermal limit a couple of times up there if I didn't have the AC on and the vent duct pointing at it.
That CD holder had me interested but it would block access to the radio station buttons in my daily driver.

In the past I've used the tray behind the shift stick on the center console. A cup holder on the dashboard would be perfect! Only I don't have one on either of my cars...

Tetrax magnetic car mounting solutions

Hey everyone,
I have tried many car phone mounts, but none of them worked as I was wishing.
Then I googled this keyword "minimal car mount" and suddenly found this interesting idea based on magnetic power.
What do you think?

If they want to be taken seriously, they should really get someone to proof the front page of their website - smarthpone?
I was also looking for a minimalistic mount for my phone. I hate those suction cup and dashboard mounts so I got the tetrax xway and I love it. It mounts nicely on my dash near and blends into my stereo. Having the little metal nipple on my phone is a bit annoying but the convenience of quickly and securely attaching my phone to my car is worth it.

They are using different kind of technology that doesn't create strong magnetic field. Each holder has 4 tiny magnets.

I've been using these magnet mounts in my car for a couple years. They have worked great on:
HTC Wildfire
Optimus 2X
Galaxy S3
Navigon SATNAV (much heavier than a smartphone)
Walkman MP3 Player
Anything with metal in it like a pen!
Nothing has ever fallen off even over potholes and rough country tracks. All wifi 3g bluetooth are unaffected but cant verify NFC as I dont use it.
The only glitch I spotted was that the orientation sensor on the wildfire didnt respond (if I turned the phone from portrait to landscape whilst attached it wouldnt rotate the screen), but the other phones didnt have that problem.
I love it. Even though my magnet is larger (about the size of a 50p), its discreet and effective. I would recommend to anyone.
I have always used the stick on ones not the clip on, but as long as they clip ok to your vent and you dont blast hot air directly to the phone it should be ok.
I use their X-Way model as part of my near perfect car mount solution.
So obviously, it all starts with the Tetrax X-Way. I mounted that directly to one of the vents in the middle of my car. It does block the vest quite a bit, but it's the perfect spot for me and doesn't involve any adhesive on my dash. At first, I tried attaching one of the little nipple things to the back of my phone directly. While this worked, it drove me nuts that I couldn't lay my phone flat on a table anymore. This became a problem when I accidentally bumped my S3 while it was sitting on a table and since there was less friction now, the thing went flying. So not good.
My solution was to pick up a dirt cheep slim case. That's how I ended up with the elago G5 Slim Fit Case. With the nipple attached to that, I could just slip my phone in/out of that and leave the case sitting in my arm rest compartment when not in use. Now I had the awesome form factor of my S3 and the ability to mount. So the next issue was the connection.
Like almost everyone else, I was using the cigarette lighter along with a curly charging cord that was 5x longer than it needed to be. Worse, the giant power wart that was now sticking out of my dash. Not only was this ugly, it was a pain in the but to store. What I really wanted to use was a small USB cable, 6-8 inches long, that could fit with my new case in my arm rest and a way to ditch the giant dash wart. The cable is easy enough to find, but how do I plug it in? With the Griffin Powerjolt Dual! While there are a bunch of USB port adaptors floating aorund, this was the first I found that would actually sit flush against the dash. This means I wouldn't have any stupid wart thing to deal with, the look of my dash wouldn't be thrown off, and since I don't smoke, I could just leave it in full time.
The big win in all of this is two fold. First, I could ditch the bulky plastic car mount garbage for a few thin and easy to store version. Second, I did the same thing (but with a different case) for my wife's Galaxy Nexus. Now we can both use the same mount depending on who's driving (or if we pick up a second X-Way, we can both charge and mount at the same time thanks to the dual ports on the Powerjolt) and save even more room in the car since we didn't need two giant device specific car mounts. The other minor bonus here is that the X-Way came with enough of those attachment nipples that I should be able to roll along for a few years using the same mounting system across multiple new devices.

My friend has this solution for his BB and loves it. I wasn't willing to pay the price the local Best Buy wanted. I found a different magnet system at my local Bell store.
Something similar to this. I stuck the large magnet to my dash and the other magnet is on my case. I've had zero issues with NFC. Bash cash mount kit imo.

So I got the vent mount version and it works great in my car. In my truck the clip does not fit the vent. I placed the circle towards the top of the phone like it says and it hangs in portrait. In the video it shows it going between portrait and landscape, it doesn't do that. You get one orientation unless you put the connector in the middle I would guess. Other than that it is perfect.

I can recommend the Kenu Airframe Vent mount

Awesome device if you don't want the windscreen sucker type mount.
I have mine mounted on the central vent & it means the phone is close enough to read nicely, has no nasty reflections off the windscreen & my moto power cable can reach it easily.

Yes they're also very good, although you won't be able to get a brodit at anything close to my budget. They are renowned for being very expensive as you typically need to buy 2 or more components. I think for a relatively simple vent Mount solution it'll be hard to beat the Kenu

Are magnet car mounts ok to use?

So with my old phone (note 3) I used a magnetic mount to my air vent in my car for my phone. They work really well. You put a small metal plate inbetween your case and phone and that little plate is what attracts to the magnetic mount.
With my note 7 I noticed there is a small section of the lower left (back) of the phone that is already magnetic.
I've been using my little mount for the past week and it seems to be going fine. No problems no issues with battery etc that I can tell.
I'm more concerned about wireless charging (which I've never tried). Does anyone know if it is safe/advisable to use the little metal plate and magnetic mount. Will it impact normal use and/or impact wireless charging?
Glad I see this. I have one of those magnetic mount too and I've been on the fence to put the medal plate on the phone(not case, never use case) in fear of scratching it when I have to remove it as the reviews suggest the glass is actually weaker than before. It'd be absolutely awesome if it sticks strong enough without the metal plate. I'm not super worried about damaging the phone tho lol

It does stick without attaching the plate, I tested it out over the weekend. But not as strong. Travelling to San Francisco for about 1:30 hour, some bad road conditions, it did shake the phone a little but not strong enough to knock it down.
I guess you need to accidentally run over a deep road cavity in order to knock it off.

It is not advisable. The S Pen works using a magnetic field. After prolonged use of a magnetic mount, it can ruin the magnetic field that the S Pen depends on, and you will not be able to write on a large area of the screen. This happened on my Note 5. I would strongly recommend discontinuing the use of any magnetic mount, especially if the magnet is stuck directly to the phone.
