Streaming red zone - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Has anyone here thought of or purchased red zone live through the direct tv app in play store and successfully used an mhl adapter to stream in hd anywhere you take your device?
Seems like a good idea to use anywhere you go on Sunday for games, but it seems too easy..... Plus will the quality hold up as high definition?

I have a dish network receiver with sling built in, so I just use the dish app to watch mine. Works for live or recorded tv and its no extra cost.

if it's ok that it's not live, try out hulu:

Hey guys, thanks yeah I am looking for live tv. I was hoping justin, ustream or adhte would work.

Vids/pics/music on XBOX

Surprised no one has talked about this at all. Anyway, happened to be watching Netflix on my XBOX last night, and while doing so, was checking out some pictures on my phone. Saw a button I never seen before that kind of looked like a little computer screen with 3 lines kind of going through it. I guess it said something like "view on another player". This apparently being the first time I was using my S3 and XBOX at the same time. So I press the button, and it stops my movie, and shows my picture on my TV!
Did some fooling around. As long as I'm using a stock music, video, or gallery app, and the file is on the phone itself, it will stream through my XBOX at the touch of a button. The free Avengers movie in Media Hub didn't work, Netflix didn't work. USB transferred an episode of Hell on Wheels over to the phone, it asked if I wanted to convert it to assure it would work on the phone and said yes, tried it out and it worked pretty good. I can only imagine how nice it would have looked if I hadn't converted it, going to try later and see.
Was just curious if anyone else has used this feature at all? Seems pretty cool to me.
I think that's DLNA.

The TV has nothing to do with it, it's going through my XBOX. It was just crazy to me because I've never been able to link my XBOX and computer properly, and I can see my computer in the gallery app sometimes but I can never see any files. I did happen to start a test on my battery while having basically everything running and all options available, so I have activated some options I normally don't use. I think one night I tried messing with the settings on my XBOX to get it to show my phone since it comes up on my roomie's PS3 although I've never tried using this feature on that before. Since I don't use my XBOX a whole lot lately, and I imagine it's possible others don't use it at the same time, I thought I'd mention it.
aNYthing, is that exactly what DLNA is? because, if so, there's a lot of people going and buying that allshare hub thing that wouldn't need to if they have an XBOX or PS3. Obviously Samsung is not going to promote that! I don't have the DLNA share option being used so it never occurred to me that it could be using it. I guess I assumed DLNA was something that was used to go directly to the TV, which in my case, is not what's happening, and definitely not possible.
Where was that monitor icon? On Xbox or phone?

on the phone. XBOX was already playing a Netflix movie. Pressed it and it stopped the movie I was watching, and a few seconds later, it appeared on my TV. Swiped to another pic, and IT popped up. Watched a short video I took the other day, it looked GREAT! As I said, I'm not really sure what I changed or if I established a link between my S3 and XBOX before or not but hey, it was pretty damn cool to me, lol.
Try serviio on your computer and enjoy videos on your computer through Xbox and on your phone. I've been using it for years

Yeah bro I use this feature a lot since I can't shell out the cash for the special mhl adapter. I watch videos play music and view slide shows on my xbox and hdtv through dlna.

i have heard that ps3 media server works on xbox and you can do .mkv over it, also recently TVERSITY has been updated to supposedly do .mkv but I am yet to try it
It'll work on any dlna enabled device like my bravia tv

No whatever device your trying to connect to must be on the same network as your phone.

Doesnt the end device have to be codec compatible ?
I had issues with video stuttering or simply not playing on my Viera.
Have not tried my xbox but I will.
No it just streams it. If it stutters it might be ur connection or ur tv.

works great on my xbox. i'm sure the file has to be compatible but you probably won't get the other viewer option if it's not anyway.
My main purpose of this post was to find other people using the same feature and if they have any tips such as, what files will work for this or what apps can use it, etc.
had no idea i could do this until i saw this thread. thank you!
You have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi and it will work.
Or you can yes double twist and it does the same thing.

I made a tut on how to do this on the PS3 but it didn't seem too many people were interested in it. Simple though get a video converter and convert the movies to mp4 standard and don't let the phone convert it on transfer leave it the way it is and it will work no matter what, the phone sends everything by means of media player so any device that allows media server wifi conection will play from this device.

Did the mhl work for you? I ran a quick attempt and it wasn't seeing anything. MAYBE I needed to use a different cable and wall plug, I was using one that, it seems now, isn't supplying a lot of power.
Just wanting a confirmation that the mhl works.

You can do this in YouTube app. You need a TV with YouTube though I believe. Not sure how it works though, never felt the need to get it working for me.

mhl converter
Mhl works great. You just need to make sure if you are searching amazon or eBay or whatever you use to make sure it's the one for the s3 or note 2. The cable for the s2 is different for some reason. Allshare hub is ok but gets laggy on anything other than pics and videos you have on the phone already. Trying to stream Netflix from the phone through the hub doesn't work very well at all.
I use my xbox360 to stream stuff from my phone to my tv works flawlessly for music video and images. If you have any other device that supports DLNA that would work as well

I actually use that feature... pretty much go into your tv youtube app and under the sign in part theres something where you share your screen, pretty much go into that and take your tvs code and type it into your phones youtube app and a little button will appear for you when looking at videos on your phone similar to the one in gallery to share pics/vids...
Great for old movies or tv shows on youtube
Just use the mhl adapter. get one from ebay. cost like $10. This is the one I got and it works flawlessly:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251194581683
Just plug it into the phone then plug in the ac adapter (it needs power) and connect the HDMI cable from adapter to tv and BOOM, a mini power computer. I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard paired to the phone and it works great. The only thing it would make it perfect is if I can stream the optimum tv app. unfortunately the optimum tv app can detect if you are using an "external" display and it won't show the video on the tv. But you can stream watchespn, hbo go, max go and pretty much any other apps onto the big screen.
I tried to ask if anyone can hack the optimum app to allow it to be used with external display but no one replied.
No one has heard of the app mirrorop. Haven't tried on note yet. But on Asus Transformer Pad TF300T it mirrors your screen exactly but to a PC. (Which I had connected to my TV via HDMI) only downside is doesn't stream audio. Use some Bluetooth speakers. Works well
using mhl update
tv must be mhl compatable or the cable convert to hdmi n not just wires but some actual brain
second. get the 11 pin not the 5 pin mhl adapter or it wont work on note ii. [sgs2 mhl adapter wont work]

Yeah have been using the allshare dongle myself got it with the 50% disount off sammys website.... works perfect for me only problem it doesnt work on anything but stock/rooted rom .... there is a bounty in another thread but not looking to good so for now mhl or the dongle are the best choices out
I use iMediashare.

Hi, I bought a cable off of ebay (red) for $11.00 packaged for the SIII but works fine on my N2, and with my stock 2.0amp charger it stays charged, though is barely charges because of the power drain. But output of both the video and audio come through fine on my vizio tv.
Hope this helps.
Thanks i will try and look into that card the previous cord i got doesnt work at all

For any of you guys who own a Roku media box. You can use the app from the Playstore: Juice for Roku. You just add the Juice channel to your Roku device, install the Android app...connect it to your Roku, then you can stream your Pics (individually or slideshow), and video's all wirelessly to your TV through your Roku.
I use ArkMC app for long time, it works well with my htc desire, you could try

Mirror gallery pictures and videos to t.v. through xbox

So I watching espn on my xbox and going through the pictures on my phone. There was a button at the top of the screen that said "change player" that I had never seen before, so I hit it. Boom. All of a sudden my pictures were on my t.v. I tried it with some videos and they played smoothly too. Audio and video. Anyone else try this before or even know it was a feature?

Yup. I found this when i had the S3. I download movies to my phone instead of trying to use the Hub, never works rooted anyways. You can stream thru a PS3 but theres a lil more work involved with settings and what not. Love the feature. Enjoy!

I'm glad I wasn't watching any porn when I discovered it. my 4 year old daughter was watching a movie on my xbox and I was looking at some videos I shot that day, saw the button and of course pressed it and boom there it was on my tv hehe. I was like oh that is cool. And my wife goes, you just wanted to show that off! But I really didn't know haha.

It's basic DLNA capability built into pretty every phone now. Different companies like calling it different things. Microsoft calls it Play-to for example.
I've been using it with my receivers for years now.
The only problem I have is the Note has issued controlling playback on other devices (play and pause don't work properly).

A few months ago, Amazon had the app iMediaShare for free and it has quickly become one of my favorite apps. It will find all available devices that your phone can stream to. In fact, I only have an xbox hooked up to my projector. It is a media extender for my htpc and then I just download movies to my phone and play them from the xbox through dlna.

HTC one picture to TV

I was sitting in the bedroom last night watching the game and all of a sudden a prompt came up that said something about media device. I clicked ok and a picture of my daughter was on the screen. My fiancee came into the room with her S3 and was responsible for what was going on. Nothing additional is added for this to work with her device. Why didn't HTC add something as this to there Flagship device?

They probably didn't add it because they don't make TVs, which is why they have the media device
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
htc one can send pictures, videos and music to smart tv's. if your fiancee did it with her s3, you can probably do it to.
first, your tv and your phone have to be on the same network, so you can't use 4g on your phone. connect your phone to the wi-fi router that your tv is connected to.
second, open your gallery, click on a picture or video you want to show on your tv and click on a little "play" icon in top right corner of your phone. it will search for devices and if your tv is compatible it will be shown there. click on it and voila you can play your pictures or videos on your tv. you can do the same thing in music player.
also, depending on your rom, you can accomplish the same thing by sliding three fingers up on your screen.
note: I've noticed that it doesn't work for pictures or videos that are not on my device e.g. facebook pics and such. also my videos are choppy, but it could be my tv being not fully compatible.
