Parts are available online,, Google replacing it and you can find good videos on how to replace etc.
In the mean time, use a toothpick to move the volume buttons.

the volume buttons that come from factory are some what of bad quality they keep breaking and just to let u know flex cable has nothing to do with volume buttons, and as for replacing it u can do it without opening the phone but its complicated u can end up breaking the new volume buttons, better is to take of the back cover of the phone n thn replace the volume button.. the hard side goes towards the uper side of the phone n the soft side towards the lower side

So my the volume rocker died...initially it was just the down button now up button as well.
I'm in Bangladesh so if anyone can guide me on DIY project it would be a great help.
There are a bunch out there, try Google, Ebay etc

How would I go about fixing it with some glue? Would a bit of glue in middle do the job?

Depends what exactly has happened to your volume button. If it's completely off, I don't think you can do much wrong anymore
Well when I got my flex cable fixed, my volume button was also fixed. I noticed when it started to come off, there was a sticky substance in the middle. So I guess why not?

Just hold power button and volume-up button until the phone turns off after flashing with touch buttons.

Isn't it a case of simply holding the power button, without touching the volume button?

U have to push power button and volume up button at the same time to work. And think: If an app lags and u can't get the screen working? U can't put out the battery. This is the only exit if u don't have any PC and USB cable.

You can simply hold the power button. I've done it loads of times.
It doesn't work in lockscreen.

Just did it and works fine. Simply hold the power button.
Although the ROM you are on possibly does not have it.

I've tried it only on Sense ROMs, but it also works with AOKP/CM9 I think.

When i try to press the volume buttons they take a lot of force to activate. Any fixed? Is it the buttons or the plastic? Can the buttons be replaced?
Sent from my One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes the buttons can be easily replaced. It is possible that dirt has built up inside it or that the plastic has deformed. If you can still press the buttons then i doubt it is the entire flex cable.... Search on ebay for the plastic volume rocker and an online guide will show you how to!
