Please HELP with Contacts.apk and T9 serch - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use on my HTC Desire SpazeDog ICS.0.9.0U1 ROM. I have one question.
Please can enyone include letters ( ž, đ ) in t9 dialer search in Contacts.apk. I have a friend which name is Đorđe or Žika...and menu more, and without this letter in T9 serch in Contacts.apk I dont find it.
Please if you can post me Contacts.apk with include this letters in t9 serch I be very gratefull.
I try with original ics spazedog Contacts.apk but they dont have support for this two letters (ž , đ ) like you can see in res/values/strings.xml in next line:
<string name="t9_map_row_3">3deféèêë</string>
<string name="t9_map_row_9">9wxyzýẃź</string>
I try inplement it but after install get Force close.
Any idea what is need to do that!
Thanks again

Why not use another keyboard? I use app called "Multiling keyboard" that can be found on the market. Just download needed dictionaries and configure the app (follow steps indicated in the app itself). I use it for Czech alphabet that has č, š, ř and so on.

I use Smart keyboard but that has nothing to do with it. I dont mean about search button in contacts.apk. I mean when I tick digits like 9452 I need to get name Žika but I dont.

Is it possible that no one dont know to do that!!!

Maybe a latin1/utf8/... problem when you edited the file?
You might also compile Contacts.apk from source, there is an excellent wiki page for CM9. Setup the build environment, change the file and run "make Contacts".

Howto add extra language to Phonepad B&B 4.1

I was searching for a way to add the Dutch language to the B&B 4.1 ROM of Tom.
I saw in the thread a lot of people where searching for this so i made a little howto
First of all i need to thank the guys from who i have gotten this here in xda (search & find):
- ctibor
- hiblopp
Well here we go:
Code:
1. Copy T9DutchLdb.dll to \Windows folder of Artemis.
4. Edit the Artemis Registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\IntelliPad
a. Incerease by one the value of the "LibraryCount" dword (in my case from 10 to 11)
b. Created a "Library10" dword with the value of 8. (This is for the Dutch language).
Soft reset and you can use the dutch language in Phonepad!
If you want to use another language not provided you must copy the appropriate T9<language>Ldb.dll to the \Windows folder.
AND
change the Library10 value to the value for your language.
These are the languages i found in another thread:
7=Danish
8=Dutch
9=Finnish
10=Hungarian
11=Norwegian
12=Polish
13=Romanian
14=Slovak
15=Swedish
I have added the dutch language file for people who want to make the change!
Hi RikP just did your settings and it seems to work fine thanks!
Do you know also a way to get the keyboard to recognize dutch words?
(or do I have to wait till i typed them all )
Thanks for the guide!

Did a quick search and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299036
Does it fix your problem?
T9
A better method would be the easy one . First you have to copy your t9 file directly in windows folder. Than select phonepad as input method (click on the little arrow beside the keyboard on the bar) and select Options... Input Method: Phone Pad. Select Options... Languages tab... Database... and select your language.
For t9 DLL's i downloaded t9languages.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290007.
I added Romanian in my phone and works great.
PS: Sorry my english, hope is allright.

easy .. not really.. but possible
dump the BIN, edit the txt file with the keyboard layout (not sure about the name) and compile it again.. all can be done with EFN's V5 Kitchen and instructions are in the PDF file that is included with the kitchen
hello.
does anyone ever done this?
i have a i780 with the qwerty keyboard.
i want to intall a french rom and maintain the keyboard in qwerty. is it possible?
i'm making a separate tool to do just that. You will be able to hot switch between different keyboard layouts with just a simple soft reset. Still work-in-progress.....check on my rom thread, will update there once ready...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=564074
Also, could you attach french dll and sym file on this thread -

XML files... Where, What and how?

So, I got all these translated xml files for MIUI.. How do I implement them? I'm VERY new to this, so a good 1-2-3 guide is appreciated..
Heres the list of xml's:
contacts
contactsprovider
fileexplorer
FM
framework-res
gallery3d
googlepinyin
launcher2
mms
phone
settings
updater
BTW, I'm using MIUI XJ 1.3.5, trying to get danish language. (In apps, at least..)
(The app more locale2 doesn't help, amlost everything goes back to chinese when selecting danish locale..)
If i need to translate some more language, both in the ROM itself and other apps, how do i do that?
Thankyou for your patience with a newbie
Try this guide out.
http://forums.miui-dev.com/showthread.php?1001-How-to-translate-MIUI-rom
You need to replace the values in the string xml files and create a new directory for the language.
But you need to decompile and recompile the rom completely.

Ok, thanks, I'll try that.. sounds like a big job though

[FILES][DEV] translated framework and apps from verizon 2.3.4 + translatorscript

first things first: always do a backup before, this files are for testing / development only!
you should install the bootmenu dettofatto posted in order to do a restore
if your phone doesn't boot anymore.
Bootmenu thread
atm i am trying to build a fully translated rom with the stock blur apps
from 2.3.4. on top of dettofatto's rom but after testing a little bit i've
found some issues and i want to fix them first before i release the rom.
the issues are:
-after updating the google search you'll get a force close when pressing
search button in the app launcher, this problem is also with the original
files, so if anyone knows where to find the eventhandling let me know
-after wiping the phone with cwm almost all social networks disappeared in
the account settings and the social network setup doesn't work anymore,
at least in the german translation ... so it only works if i give you my /data backup
which isn't a good solution ;o)
files that haven't translated yet:
BlurUpdater_VZW.apk
BuaContactAdapter.apk
Cmas.apk
ConnMO.apk
EncryptionSettings.apk
GlobalNwSwitch.apk
LAWMO.apk
LocationConsent.apk
MotoAtCmdQcPlugin.apk
MotoVzwAtCmdPlugin.apk
PhoneConfig.apk
PNI-Moto-2010-09-17.apk
PNI-Moto.apk
ProgramMenu.apk
ProgramMenuSystem.apk
QuickTutorial.apk
Vvm.apk
VZWInstaller.apk
but i think all the verizon stuff doesn't need to be translated...
i've also wrote a quick and dirty translatorscript, read the readme in it
first to find out how it works and what it does.
btw: the most files have the following languages: en, de, fr, it, pl, nl
translator script, translated framework and app files:
THE FILES
have fun with it
last but not least: thanks to dettofatto and to all the creators of the tools i've used
To translate dettofatto's rom in italian, i have token string*.xml of pro+ and copied all strings into string*.xml of gingerbread rom
Now italian is at 99,9
Tnx to dettofatto
Edit:
i don't understand how i can use your script.. in notranslated dir i put in original apk.. and in traslated dir what apk must i put in?
translator software is never as good as handmade translation,but nice try....

did you even know what the script does?
translatorscript sounds like a automatic,crappy translation. if it works well,iam your biggest fan
only want to say that i like your intension and i´m waiting for translated german language on 2.3.4 german pro!
maybe it´s very useful to take the translation from the pro+ like hnktc already said!
did i undestand you right..you wanna make a stock 2.3.4 rom for pro with german translation...
For putting home made translations..
Copy and past the same file (example: settings.apk) in nottranslated and in translated.
Copy your home made values-xx folder (not past, copy only for now...)
run "run.bat"
wait, see the script and wait some seconds
go into /translated/decoded/settings.apk/res
past your folder (values-xx) now (overwrite)...
wait...

i thought about making a rom for the middle european main languages ...
but to be honest ... i doesn't think its worth the afford, since there are
some things broken and i'm not in the mood to fix things that even
broken in the original 2.3.4 files from verizon ... but maybe the
translated files can be used by others to create a fully functional rom

[Q] How to translate a rom........

Hi folks,
I am from a country Albania and it doesn't have a languange pack for this language (as I now), official Gingerbread 2.3.6 from samsung has the albanian languange but cyanogen roms not. I want to translate its self but i don't know how . I search to many forums but without success.
Can anyone help me please..... I would be very grateful.
p.s I WANT TO TRANSLATE CM7 ROM
decompile all apks
change .xmls to your language
compile
use apktool andd xda tutorials
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda app-developers app
I only know about the hard way. You have to decompile ROM apks one by one, and you will find the language files in /res/values-XX. Find a language you can translate from, if it's english, then values-en. Open strings.xml with a text editor, and translate. Save your work, and send it to a developer to put it in their ROM.
Ps.: If you don't know, how to decompile an apk, search for it on XDA. There are a couple of solutions out there.
