I have an unbranded desire from Germany I'm using stateside. I didn't want to lose root so I waited for a rooted update from the development forum, but everything is working fine on T-Mobile US with the update installed.
I hope this isn't a silly question, but I just go to settings-about phone-software updates-refresh?

Yep, got my unlock desire from Spain and updated this morning as well. On AT&T plan, works well so far.

Reversible S-Off.. Like.. When you need to return it to your provider, you reverse the S-Off and they cannot notice a thing?
I can get a One X for cheap but it's simlock.
Is there a way to make it simlock free and is it hard?

In the UK you can ring your carrier and they unlock it for free for you. Worth a try wherever you are

I searched xda bt got to know that there exists no separate desire v section
