Well, may as well give it a shot.

No thanks.
I think its horribly ugly. Reminds me of a cross between touchwiz and iOS.

This is has been said a bazillion times but no one seems to get it. MIUI has a built-in THEME ENGINE. Who cares what the stock theme looks like?

Thanks for posting this, some cool things I didnt know about were shown in the video. Shaking your phone to organize icons is genius.
The funny thing is that most people that say they hate MiUi never actually gave it a try. Most flash it, play with it for 5 minutes and say they hate it. I know plenty of people that have done this and then finally gave it a real try and fell in love.

a better theme engine than the theme chooser at that.

Love it so far.
The only thing that irks me is that quick-controls dont work with the stock android browser.

Yes you can customize, but their default look gives each ROM an Identity, and their Identity is iOS-Wanna-Be.

i always loved miui ever since i first saw it 6 months ago ...and i just don't know why it have so much hate from the community , i mean it looks good , have some neat features , constant update but i never tried it so ..=(

We don't hate MIUI, we appreciate their work. But I wish their work was more towards the Android World and not the iOS one, yeah they have a theme engine and what? Look at most of their themes! iOS-Wanna-Be ! - Why da heck they changed the Task Switcher to iOS style rather than keeping the Awesome ICS Style? They just want to sell more Mi-Ones or Mi-Twos now. Why trying to imitate iOS look ? Okay Android is free open source, but can we keep it a little more Androidish? Bring in lovely innovative features is AWESOME, they do it, but their Identity is just ' Look at me I can be an iOS too '
Now I would be against that, we chose Android by choice - We didn't want to buy iPhones.

I tried MIUI on my DINC back in the day and it was beautiful, but it's not just for me.
and on a GNex screen, all that white has to be killer on your battery so I respectfully don't use it.
But it is a wonderful looking OS tweak.

The only reason i dont use it is the rintones chooser. It requires you to use the built in music player which is crap IMO. Well at least thats how it was when i last used it a few months ago (on sensation)...

I used to really like it on the Nexus S but havent tried it on the Gnex.
All things aside, that video was VERY well done.
EDIT: going to nandroid and flash

I wish we had that miui camera looks real good.

Because it works well, does what I need it to, and then some.
Tbh someone needs to make a file manager with a good UI . Something that will integrate with ics UI design it would make it more user friendly or at least the way I imagine it in my head anyway. Like removing the long process for copy and pasting etc by using a layout similar to the new Gmail or something similar

Is anyone interested in a rom that looks/acts like Touchwiz?

Excuse me if I posted this in the wrong forum, I didn't really consider this a topic that belonged in Q&A.
I've spent most of the day kanging together a rom that's reminiscent of TouchWiz (the UI on Samsung's line of phones). It was designed as more of a personal project, but if it interests anyone I'll get permission for the people whose sources I used and if all goes well, I'll release it.
Here's what I've done:
Started with Aeroevan's latest CM9 build
Replaced Trebuchet with the ICS TouchWiz launcher
Changed a bunch of apps' icons to TouchWiz ones
Made the statusbar more TouchWizzy
Here's a very large screenshot (three in one!): http://i.imgur.com/wPolY.png
Let me know what you think!
Sure dude I've never played with touchwiz before
That is a large screenshot.
It looks nice. I like what you've done with it. I'm sure I'd be interested in testing it out a bit if you release it.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Touchwiz. I am a bigger fan of Sense 4. When I saw TouchWiz on the Samsung Galaxy S3 during the launch, I was put off by the fact that they made it look very much like Gingerbread. The icons look childish-y for my taste... But looking at your screenshots, I must say it looks better than what I saw on the SGS3. So, bring it on, I say! More choices, more power to the people!
I am very interested in this!!

I don't know why people complain so much about OEM skins. I rather like them. Then again, I'm highly optimistic and enjoy most everything, so maybe that helps.
Touchwiz isn't really as nasty as people say it is. I haven't used a TW rom in ages, but I always enjoyed the scheme (Except for the Droid Charge. That was the stupidest thing I think anyone has ever done in the history of smartphones. Brown and orange? That's disgusting, no matter how nice not having a pentile screen is.) I liked their take on Gingerbread. It was simple, modern and had some nice widgets. Touchwiz 4 is even nicer. Also, I like having audio feedback enabled but set very quiet so it's not distracting, and Sammy has the best tick sounds ever. That may be an odd detail, but I rather liked them. The Fascinate had a really nice puzzle piece lockscreen that would show a piece for different notifications and you'd drop them into the open spot.
Also, screens. Until the One X, Samsung has run circles around every other Android OEMS screens. My Fassy had the most beautiful screen I've ever used, and with VooDoo controls you could adjust the gamma ratios and fine tune it to get your own perfect whites. There is a lot you can do with Samsung phones, especially now that they have a mobile Odin app. Samsung phones don't really have bootloaders. They have a tool, called Odin, that ran on Windows only and it flashes your firmware, kinda like whatever the SBF tools Moto users have. You can flash custom packages, but you were very dependent on it for switching between Touchwiz roms and AOSP because Samsung pulled an idiotic move and invented their own filesystem that is brain numbingly slow. VooDoo saved the day again by being included in recoveries and enabling ext4 and mtd filesystems.
Samsung also invented those really nice notification toggles we love so much in CyanogenMod.

Since people seem interested, I'll get this polished and released. Working on getting a better launcher, the one I'm using doesn't let you resize widgets ;_;

It just doesn't make Sense... err, I mean touchwiz.. wait what?
LOL! I just got the idea to make that joke. In any case, go nuts and make the TouchWiz ROM. But I am not a fan of it. Btw, is it just a TouchWiz themed Sense ROM or does it have TouchWiz in it?

Alright. I guess that's kewl.. I played around with Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 for a few days and my impression of TouchWiz, in the simplest terms was "silly".. The icons like amateurish (not in quality but the feel of them). It just doesn't have that seriousness to it as say the stock Holo theme or even the Sense ROMs. It is hard to put it in words.

[IDEA] FlymeOs on Galaxy Nexus

Hi Guys, I don't know if this is the best place to post but, I've allways wanted a Meizu phone but they are very difficult to get here in Brazil.
So with the Galaxy Nexus the mother of all android ICS phones, I've got a question.
Why buying a Meizu, when I can make a port of the FlymeOs?

I've done some researches about this and I've got.... Nothing :crying:

Whilst I don't really want to be "that guy", an idea isn't development - this topic belongs over in general.
Good luck with this though. Do some research on porting and try it out for yourself. It's definitely possible.
I'd suggest perhaps sending a couple of PM's to koaaN. He recently ported an ICS Nexus S ROM which itself had originally been ported from the Xperia Arc S.
Who knows? - he might have some tips for you.
I would love it too!

I actually ran into the video last night as well and decided it a go. As mikeyinid said, it is simply a clever use of nova launcher, widget locker and some custom wallpapers. Armando gives a great walk-through on how to do this but the problem i ran into was the fact that this was built for a gnex, which has a nav bar. I realize we can enable ours as well (in AOSP ROMs) but I personally don't like the look of it. Without the nav bar, it causes the wallpapers and icons to become misaligned with the intended layout, so I decided to bail
Nevertheless, a very interesting setup. I recommend anyone who uses an AOSP ROM w/ a Nav Bar to give this theme a go. Be warned, there is quite a bit a setup time but should be well worth it in the end
I actually like the ui looks

Actually is easy since he gives all the backup files and you restore them with nova, I was going to keep it but the problem is the apps icons are too small, since you need to have 6 by 6 to run the on the launcher it doesn't work good for me, I use 6 by 4 on nova
This work better for me

I share your thought. But nevertheless, nice work.
Thank you guys for your views. My aim was to merge both Os apple and android, to make Hybrid OS.
Hope you enjoy my theme.

Kinda funny seeing this theme here Make my phone look like the company that TRIED to have me BANNED from being sold in the same country BTW http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-5...roid-4.1-galaxy-note-10.1-to-samsung-lawsuit/
Nice theme got it from playstore today, now I can have an iPhone 5 look without spending $799 on one

Like others on here I appreciate the hard work from the OP but why in earth would I want to take my gnex and make it look like a I crap? And for the post saying that they are happier with the icrap5 over the gnex maybe they never figured out how to use the gnex. My gnex kills any I crap out there.
Sorry not trying to knock the hard work of the OP just don't understand why android users would want a icrap look.
