No deep sleep after 100% charge-Jediv.6 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I've found out that I get no deep sleep after a full charge until a reboot. Running Jedi v.6 with faux008 kernel. Its fine without a full charge though. Can anyone else confirm this? I've tested this twice now, overnight charge, unplug cable, reset CPU spy, then turn off screen. I then wait like 30 min and check CPU spy. Doesn't go lower than 384 MHz.

Have you tried using the CPUsleeper apk, check in the apps section or market

I can try that out, thanks.
Just to be sure though, is this normal behavior or is this a bug?

I am running the same ROM but with Faux 009 kernel. I charged overnight to 100% battery and my phone has been off the charger now for almost 5 hours. It has been in deep sleep for 94% of that time or 4hrs 45mins. Currently still have 92% battery. Sleeping like a baby for me.
Also, the CPU Sleeper is already implemented into the ROM. Maybe see what app, if any, is keeping your phone awake. You may also want to give Faux 009 a try, I never tried 008 TBH.

I've read in Faux's thread that CPU sleeper does not play well with his kernel. Can you lower your min to 192? That might help

Make sure that you exactly followed the instruction when you flashed the rom. Always full wipe, wipe everything, Do not restore data, let it sit for 10mins before the first use. My advice is you should re-flash the rom.

When they say let it sit for 10 minutes, do i let it sit for 10 minutes after signing in with my google account or before?

When you finish flashing and reboot the phone for the 1st time, just let it sit there for 10mins, NO TOUCHING. After 10mins, you reboot the phone and begin to sign in/set up ur phone.

Just out of curiosity, did you run a Jelly Bean ROM before flashing this ROM?

I have the same problem. it needs a reboot after a full charge to be able to go into deep sleep. I'm giong to flash faux v9 to see if it will solve the problem. Plus I might just update to jedi v7 while i'm at it.

I had a similar problem. Here's the solution:

Not to hijack but my phone does same thing. I have stock charger/htc/ even the usb in my car it does it with every one. It can go In to deep sleep - plug it in - unplug it and no more deep sleep until u reboot.

Hmm..well I had a suspect app, but eliminated that as a possility. I do in fact use several different chargers, so I'll have to test using the Samsung one. Several minutes charging test and it still sleeps fine, so I'm not really sure if it needs a certain amount of time charging or the full 100%.
Also I'm coming from stock ICS, rooted to Jedi rom.

Thank you for this info. I just spent some time testing. Indeed it's the charger(cable type didn't seem to matter). I had read somewhere from TDJ that the kernel knows what type of charger is plugged in. Either stock @ 1000ma, USB @ 500 ma or "unknown" @ 450 ma. I'm assuming this is for both data comms and phone protection, but surely this is a bug. The Samsung wall charger must send some type of id code to the phone. Crazy
I'm wondering if this can be fixed in kernel code, or does this effect all devices? Maybe a easier dirty fix with an app that clears charger type status could work. Unplug cable, then wipe status. Obviously this status clears upon a reboot unplugged..that's when I regain deep sleep.
Also, I can get sleep back by just simply plugging in the samsung charger for roughly 5 minutes..I was wrong about needing a full charge. I tested in 5 min intervals..that was enough. Sorry for the long post
SHG-T989 SII JEDI V6

I've tested this and found to be true. I use the original charger and work and when charged, it goes into deep sleep. but using the htc charger at home, the phone does not go into deep sleep, which drains my battery really fast. It just needs a reboot.
I hope other devs sees this and can fix it within the roms.

Yeah, same here. I'm on Jedi 7 which uses Faux 009. If I charge to full and just unplug, I never get into deep sleep, just 384 MHz until I do a reboot, at which point everything is fine with the world and the phone sleeps like a baby.

so i've been looking into this deep sleep issue and found this blog. I tried it and it works wonders. I know its for the galaxy note, but its the same idea for us. please read the whole thing including the comments. it might help some of you with deep sleep problems:

Battery down to 60% from 80% in airplane mode - help!

I am running Myn rls 5 stock kernel with set cpu underclocked to 245 mhz...
What could possibly cause battery tl go down 25% in 8 hours while in airplane mode screen turned off???
I used autostarts to stop anything from starting up on its own. If this is a bad idea what should I re-enable?
I looked in spare parts and battery usage but I can't really make sense of it. Thanks!
25% in 8 hours is pretty darn good. Besides, isn't the autostart app using power to constantly stop apps from automatically starting?

I don't know what autostart is but I think it may be the problem.
I think something is wrong. I don't lose that much when I go into airplane mode.
Edit: OP, check spare parts for partial wake usage and see if there are any rogue apps.
If my phone was in airplane mode with screen off for 8 hours, I wouldn't lose more than 5 %. Hell, I only lose 5% with screen off over 8 hours, even with my radios on.
If he was using it, that's way different, but I picture "airplane mode with screen off for 8 hours" to be like if the phone was idle on the night stand, during a night of sleep. In that case, 25% is excessive, IMO. Autostart would be my first thought, I'd ditch it.

No need to apologize man! You're on here helping so much, I bet you got googly eyed and simply missed it I was just stating how I'd expect my device to act in the same situation, and also my two cents!

FYI I had a more extreme version of this happen to me on an airplane. Battery started dropping at like 1% every 20-30 seconds after enabling airplane mode. I killed every task I could find and it stopped. Seems like it's caused by an app that isn't checking for airplane mode before trying to make a connection. Never figured out what app it was but something similar could be causing the problem here.
Re-enable everything in autostarts and delete the app. Boot into recovery and wipe your battery stats, cache, and dalvik-cache. Turn off the phone and take the battery out for like 5-10 minutes and leave it somewhere without heat, like a dark closet. Put the battery back in and boot up the phone, turn on airplane mode and see if it does the same thing.
so you guys think autostarts could be causing the problem? from the way I understood the application, it does not run in the background - just modifies entries in the android system to avoid triggers calling programs.
That said thanks for the suggestion and I will try it out!
Also did you just flash it, because if you did you should wipe your cache, dalvik-cache, and battery stats. Then recalibrate your battery.

Its like re-energizing your battery so to speak. Go to the market and download the "Battery Calibration" app. Follow the steps in the app and it does it for you.

[Q] Would this be an indication of a wakelock issue?

I have a brand-new stock HTC battery although I have never let it completely discharge from when I got it replaced. I've been using Battery Monitor Widget's Calibration setting to calibrate the battery. Still getting bad battery life and awake time is almost equivalent with uptime...with the screen off. Running MIKG2.59 with ChopSuey9.2.7. Any Ideas?
Well u could do is try a different kernel and see if that works. Also I see that to me your times are fine. Just don't constantly keep ur screen on and youll see that after a while, times between the two would be much different. Try and see if those options work for you. If none of those work, there is a posting about this issue. Just click in the search box and it will come up. Hope that helps.

Thats the thing about it is the screen was off. I drained it to 0% and it is back to full charge and calibrated again. I still get the awake and uptime as being the same. I would expect the awake time to stop incrementing once the screen turns off and the phone is idle. I'll flash a different kernel and see if that does the trick. Does anyone know where to get the poonsense kernel? it won't download in kernel manager pro.

There's no wake lock there. Just charge your phone all the way, calibrate battery, let it die, then charge all the way again. Your stats look normal to me.

If nothing seems to work, try reflashing your kernel(wipe dalvik and cache before flashing) or reflash Rom. Wipe stats as usual.

I use the rom aokp milestone m1-r1 with kernel 4.0 fusion and also notice this problem. if I use the 3g, the battery dies quickly. I am always on 2g with data off and only use when needed. wifi does not occur with this problem.

Another battery will not help.
Another kernel will not help.
Wiping battery stats does nothing, all stories about "improving battery life" are complete bull**** - it has nothing to do with battery!!
All ICS and ICS-Based ROMs, yes that also means all Jelly Bean ROMs,that are based on ICS, have that ICS bug, which causes battery drain after every charge. You need to restart your phone in order to fix it. Restart after charging and no more massive drain should occur.
If it does, it must be something in your personal settings.

I'm experiencing quite the same problem on my Arc (LT15i) although I don't think it occurs after every charge, and I'm not even sure it does only appear when I charged the phone.
I remarked that the radio is going a bit buggy (switching from Wi-Fi to 2G/3G or constantly reconnecting to the mobile network) and when this appears, I have to reboot the phone or the battery dies in 6 to 8 hours (when the problem don't occurs, it can go on for 36-48h).
Anyone has noticed the same thing or am I experiencing another battery drain problem ?
Not trying to hijack or anything, but as my problem relates to yours, I thought I'll write to this thread.
My LT18i battery drains around 10-20%/hour even when put to airplane mode and rebooting before. I just tested last night and charged the battery full, left the phone to airplane mode and at the morning after 7 hours there was 20% left!!! I even checked from betterbatterystats and the phone had been on deep sleep almost all the time.
Have had this problem for a while, but havent found any solution to it, if anyone can help, PLEASE do!

There is an app or something, that is using lots of battery. Check sync settings (some apps have it in app settings), turn off WiFi/3G/Bluetooth/GPS, make sure app is working.
And do not use taskkillers.
And if you can, post a screenshot of Battery Usage screen, with the list of apps consuming battery.
I flashed Stock ICS .587 on my arc last night and charged it 'till today in morning so i took my arc restarted it and 'till now worked just fine,my battery is almost dead but i used my phone today at max.I did some callings, played Asphalt 7,used wifi and internet, dolphin browser, installed some basic apps from market, done a cwm bacup, installed some cam mods cyber-shot,tested the camera.but hey even the battery is dieing now it's cool.I had fun with it for today,i hope this battery will last always ss today.
Apps kills the battery,so i deleted FB,i frezzed some apps that i don't use everyday, and i have my brightness on 50%.
I know i didn't help to much but i'm sharing my expirence.

Pretty sure, theres no apps running and I have everything turned off, I even took the sim card off for testing purposes.
Betterbatterystats shows 98% deep sleep at my tes period of one night.
Now it gets even weirder...A friend of mine suggested that I try to turn the phone fully off (power totally off).
I charged the battery to 100% last night and pulled the battery, putted it back on and let the phone sit on the table untouched for the night. When I turned it on on the morning battery showed 4% left!!!
So theres a huge drain even when the phones power is turned fully off. I dont know does this indicate a broken battery (battery 2 months old) or something wrong with the hardware ???
Turn phone off. Charge to 100% when 2-5% left
After fullcharge, use ur phone. When it drops to 50% exactly shut it down. Remove battery for a minute. Reinsert battery and dont turn it on.
Charge it again to 100%
Done
This worked for me

Battery taking forever to charge

Im on frosty JB and randomly my phone just starts taking forever to charge. I left it charging overnight and it only got to 81%. I usually get to full battery in a couple of hours.
Anyone know whats up?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I'm running the same rom and I can tell you that every since I switched to JB, other chargers take longer to charge my phone than the original. If you are using the original, make sure you don't have an app preventing the phone from sleeping or possibly have your governor set to performance.
If I remember correctly, there is a "fast charge" setting somewhere, but I can't find it on my current (Darth Stalker) ROM. But other than that, you could A) turn the phone of while its charging overnight; or B) enable power-save mode and/or airplane mode while you are sleeping and the phone is charging. You could also turn off your data and wifi while charging overnight because its not like you'll be posting to Twitter in your sleep
Okay ill try out what you guys suggested but its just weird because it never did this before. It started happening when I flashed cm10. When I noticed this I flashed frosty jb back and the problem presists.

CM 10.1 RC2 Might be the best rom out there right now

its finally stabalized with bluetooth working, it gets decent battery, great performance, great features, you can add wind kernel 2.0 RC1 to improve battery life if you want.
so far no bugs, haven't tried mhl yet it has never worked on CM for this phone as far as i know though so prob still down, will report back later when i get a chance to try it.
with the said setup above i'm getting roughly 3 hours of video playback on 200 brightness (with wind kernel) when the test is done i can post exact numbers
3h 13m on 200 brightness running video playback
the results are posted on page 46 of wind kernel thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119976&page=46
It is incredibly stable too. I haven't had a crash, reboot, SoD or BSOD yet.
What is the best configuration kernel for this rom with wind 2.0rc1?
my phone is P936
Just stopping by to agree, since the RC2 release (I'm running nightly 5/11, day after RC2 release), my Bluetooth connections are working, my battery life is better and I haven't had to pull the battery to reset since.
ive had the odd random reboot now, not horrible though. the only other issue i'm getting is oddly high battery pull from WIFI but if i turn off wifi it's it's fine, i'm trying to figure out how to fix it now will report back, i can currently get 7-10 hours out of the phone with moderate use if i turn off wifi, i still think the battery can be better but it's workable for now.
the wifi issue worked itself out after some time, i'm getting 9-14 hours of use right now once i get a good setup i'll post it with some stats

anything over 12 hours i consider good.

i actually learned about this today it happened to me, and it doesn't prevent charging, just the battery screen doesn't show up so you think its not charging, also you have to let it charge for 5-15 min then pull the battery, then power up the phone unplugged to get it to turn back on. i learned the hard way.
Maybe it was a coincidence and my battery just died, but I left the phone charging for 2h and the battery just didn't work.
I will check with another one to make sure
pull the battery, put the battery back in, plug it in for 15 minutes, then unplug, pull the battery again, put it back in, then boot ur phone and charge it while on.
it was probably already frozen when u left it charging, if the above doesn't work then u might have to look into more serious methods like trying other batteries or seeing if you can get into download mode to flash a new kdz and start from scratch (if u think the rom is causing it)
Can confirm good behavior of CM10.1 RC2 and Wind Kernel 2.0.1. BT is working.

The problem was the battery got to a very low voltage level, that it needed external charging, having it jolted from another source it started working again
